Upgrading Illustrator CS4 Education Version to CS5

I have a licensed copy of Adobe CS4 Master Collection Education Version which I have used for years with no problem. I would like to upgrade the Illustrator part of the Suite to CS5 and I see a new/sealed boxed one listed on eBay for $200. But before I make that purchase I'm wondering if a CS4 Education Version can be upgrade with what I presume is a regular CS5 version of Illustrator.

Roy,
You should be aware that a legal purchase and use of a used CS6 (or CS5) requires a licence transfer.

If you recently purchased this then it is not likely to be a valid sale/purchase.  Adobe does not sell older versions of their products and no one but Adobe provides student/teacher licensing.  If you purchased this some time years ago and it is only recently that you find you are not able to reactivate it with the original serial number you can try contacting Adobe Support thru chat and see if they will be willing to work with you to resolve this.
For the link below click the Still Need Help? option in the blue area at the bottom and choose the chat option...

Like any other program - double-click the setup.exe on the DVD. You merely have disabled auto-play on your system.

  • Upgrade  Dreamweaver 8 Educational Version to Dreamweaver CS3

    Hello,
    I have two questions:
    1. I currently have Dreamweaver 8 EDUCATIONAL VERSION; I need
to upgrade to CS3 EDUCATIONAL VERSION. Is it possible to upgrade
educational software or should I just buy CS3?
    2. If I do buy CS3, will I have to uninstall Dreamweaver 8 (
I currently have Studio 8 and Web Bundle 2)
    Thank YOU!!!!

for a correct answer, you'll have to check with the people at
    the adobe
online store customer service or with an authorized academic
    outlet.

You won't have to uninstall- the new software will go into a
    different
folder and won't interfere or overwrite anything from the
    previous version.
You can still use the prior version, but if on windows you
    can't run it at
the same time you have cs3 open. You can manually uninstall
    it or parts of
it if you wish to save HD space.

  • Upgrade from 4 Education version to CS4

    Hello,
We recently purchased the upgrade to CS4, we currently have 4.4 Education version.  When I try to activate and finish my installation by entering the serial number I have issues.  The serial number I have begins with letters and has a different amount of numbers than the one CS4 is requesting.  Is this a compatability issue between the education version and CS4? Did we purchase the wrong upgrade?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I didnt even know contribute went to 4.4 I thought 4.1 or 4.11 was the last version in the 4 series.

  • Upgrading from an educational version of Flash.

Hey all, I'm using Flash MX 2004 Educational and was wondering if it's possible to upgrade to CS3/CS4 from this package, or would I have to purchase the full product since it's only an educational version.
    Regards, Phil.

If it is not clearly outlined in their web store, you'll probably need to contact sales at Adobe to see what they are offering as far as upgrades goes.  I don't know if they follow the same allowances that Macromedia did, but there was a limit as far as how far back and upgrade to a new version would be allowed.

  • Photoshop / Indesign Upgrade Options for Educational Version

Will I be able to upgrade the following eduction versions to CS3 versions?
    - Photoshop 7.01
    - InDesign 2.02
I'm purchasing a new MacBook Pro and apparently these are not supported by Leopard. What I'd like to do is install my current versions and upgrade to the latest version.
Is this covered under the $199/ea upgrade?

All Adobe upgrade are FULL installers; they are just programmed to prompt you for the old serial number if they don't find it on your drive. Previous versions are NOT necessary, but don't interfere either.
If you use Image Ready at all, you should be aware that Image Ready is gone in CS3, so you might want to keep CS2.

  • Upgrading CS4 student version to CS5

I purchased CS4 student edition a couple years ago and am interested in upgrading to CS5.  I have since graduated and can no longer get the student edition.  So I am wondering if I can upgrade my version of CS4 to the current non-student edition of CS5 or am I going to have to buy the full non-student edition?
    Thanks

Studen versions carry full upgrade rights. Make sure you buy the correct upgrade.

  • Upgraded to CS4, missing Version Cue

I've seen others posing similar questions, but none seem to get answered. My office has been working off of CS3 for quite a while and Version Cue has been our primary asset management system. We have one VC server and not had problems with it.
A few days ago, a few of the PCs were upgraded and are using CS4 apps, including my workstation. Version Cue is mysteriously missing from all my apps. Bridge, Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, all of em with the CS4 designation. I've still got the CS3 suite installed and can hit VC with them, but it's frustrating to have to go back to the old apps. What was the point in upgrading?
Anyone one hit this wall and solved it? At this point I'm reticent to try an update on the VC server because not everyone in the office is being updated and I don't want to chance a lock out to those users.

There's a lot going on it that thread. None of it was really helpful. For example, my common files/adobe veriosn cue cs4/client/4.0.0 folder is empty. only the 4.0.1 has files in it.
Version cue just plain isn't in the tools menu of bridge or in the favorites bar.

  • Upgrading from CS4 Design Standard to CS5.5 Design Standard

Hopefully a simple question. I am currently running CS4 Design Standard and wish to upgrade to CS5.5 Design Standard. My version of CS4 itself was an upgrade from the full installation version software of CS2 (I managed to skip the CS3 stage using a previous Adobe upgrade deal). Am I right in thinking that although the CS4 was an upgrade package it is now my 'standard platform' so to speak, and therefore I can use upgrade software again to take me up to CS5.5? I have the serial number for the CS4 software.
    Thanks,
    Richard

That is correct. Make sure you get the right upgrade…there are several.

  • How to upgrade ID CS4 library to ID CS5

Ok, so I've made the upgrade, but can't seem to move my library of items from a CS4 project to a similar one in CS5.
I'm sure this must be easy but just don't see it.
    Help?
    Eddie

You've just discovered one of the reasons I don't use them. Way more trouble than they're worth.
You may well have to open the library in CS4, drag the items to a document, open that document is CS5 and recreate it.
I recommend a collection of snippets to be used with the mini bridge panel. Besides not being version specific, folders can be set up on a network and shared with co-workers.

  • Upgrade from Cs4 Web standard to CS5 - only premium available?

I have for the moment CS4 Web Standard software package from Adobe.
But I noticed that there is no upgrade to CS5 Web Standard.    It seems there is only a Web Premium.
May we expect that there will be a Standard upgrade also?
    Kind regards
    Martine

    John,
That is not good news.  My CS4 Web Standard is also a Student Version. I'm no longer a student.
So can I still upgrade by purchasing the Premium Upgrade.
Or is there a possibility that I can upgrade the Dreamweaver component?
Or is it also possible to install only Dreamweaver CS5 next to my CS4 package?
    Thanks for assisting me
    Kind regards

  • Photoshop CS2 Upgrade to CS4 Upgrade with CS4 trial version

    Hello,
today I bought the PS CS4 Upgrade (Win). The shipping will take 7 days so I asked myself if it is possible to upgrade my "CS2 Upgrade version" (from PS 6 full version) to CS4 by using the trail version.
    Dear Forum,
do you have a step by step guidance about that issue?
    Thanks!

Theoretically you should be able to do it, but I would advise against it because there are so many installation problems reported, especially with trials.
You have waited since September for CS4, so hang on for another 7 days and install the upgrade direct from the DVDs.

  • How do I obtain installation codes for legally purchased Education versions of CS5 Creative Design Suite?

    Hi,
My name is Andrew and a couple of years ago I legally purchased a new Educational copy of Adobe Creative Suite SC5, with proof of my employment at a university.
I assumed the product would have all the serial numbers in the box.
I kept the product unopened till yesterday and found that I need to prove that I am currently employed at the university to obtain the serial numbers to install the software.
Unfortunately my job was made redundant at the university several months ago.
Hence I now have a legally purchased copy of Adobe software, but I am unable to use it because I am no longer employed at the university.
Adobe online help has informed me that they no longer provide phone or online help to CS5 users and have directed me to this forum.
I would be interested in any suggestions or advice in how I can resolve this.
    Thank you
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew
I see our support team have asked if you could supply proof of your previous employment so they can assist further.
If you have any difficulties with this, please let me know.
    Kind regards
    Bev

  • Question about the CS4 educational version

    Hi,
I got my adobe CS 4 (for education and individual use only) around 4-5 years ago when I first joined the lab at Hopkins. I had successfully activated the software with a full serial number that might need for activation. However, recently I have got a new Mac Air and have had all professional version of new CS 6 installed by the dealer. My younger sister has also just got a new Mac Pro. I would like to know if my CS 4 could be used on her laptop?! Is that as long as there is only one person who is using the software, there will be no problem for the software installation?!
Also, will the licensing expire at some time point?! Should I show the student identity to you again?!
    Thanks,
    Emily @

Emily no you can not transfer your education license for Creative Suite 4 to anyone.  This is part of the agreement you made when purchasing the software at the deeply discounted price provided to education users.
