Upgrading iMac - Storage options?.

I am looking at upgrading to a new iMac. When you go to the Apple saite you are given optionsw of ATA, Fusion or Flash storage-Anyone ideas about the best? If you go with Flash, is this capable enough to be using Aperture, Final Cut Pro etc... ?

As mende1 said, Flash drives (or SSDs) are very fast. They are also very expensive - note that the 256GB SSD costs $300 more than the 1TB hard drive. That's $300 for 1/4 the storage. If you can afford it, that's great because it really does make the computer feel faster thanks to the incredibly fast disk access times.
The Fusion drive is a compromise between the lower cost but slow HDD and the fast expensive SSD. It is a marriage of the two. Here's an article about the Fusion drive. You listed FCP in your list of programs - I suggest you check the FCP forum here to see what users are saying about FCP and Fusion drives.

  • Can I upgrade iCloud storage using iTunes cards for payment?

I have chosen not to use my credit card in conjunction with my AppleID, so I purchase all of my apps and media using iTunes cards.  Can I pay for upgraded iCloud storage using iTunes credits?  I would prefer to pay one year at a time using those credits, but if it needs to be monthly, that would be fine as well.  I just want to use the iTunes cards instead of a credit card for the payment.

Thank you.  So to clarify, if I put a credit card on file for this AppleID, but I have plenty of iTunes credit to cover the monthly cost, then the monthly fee will be pulled from iTunes credits instead of my credit card.  Is that correct?
It sounds like the credit card is required in order to provide a backup payment option if the iTunes credits are all used up.  Is that also correct?
You're awesome!! Thanks for the help.

  • I upgraded iMac to Yosemite, and my Adobe CS5 products  (Photoshop, dreamweaver, etc) would not open. Multiple issues

I upgraded iMac to Yosemite, and my Adobe CS5 products (Photoshop, dreamweaver, etc) would not open. A message popped up saying I needed to load Java SE 6.  The Apple Tech support person had me select all the Java folders and files in my library and delete the. I then downloaded Java 7. However, nothing happens when I click on the program icon. I went to reinstall the products, but the activation code was not valid (even though I got it off the Adobe site for my products with Adobe). I tried to install just one product (Illustrator) in the trial mode, but still nothing happens. How can I get my Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver and other programs to work?

some (like illustrator cs5 appear to be incompatible with yosemite, at least, according to some users - http://roaringapps.com/apps:table).
for the rest, check at the above link.
if others have had success, your best option would be to uninstall, clean and then reinstall per Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

  • I want to upgrade my storage on my macbook air, how do i do it?

so i have a 2012 11-inch macbook air. It only has 128 gb storage buts says it can be configured to 256 GB. But it says only on the apple online store but i can't seem to find it. Please help!! Just got for university and its already full!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Apple doesn't allow you to upgrade the storage of a MacBook Air, but you can do it without any problem. However, you will void warranty and it's expensive. Read > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Aura_Pro_Air_2012
The other option is to buy an external disk

  • Can i upgrade icloud storage for secondary account?

My secondary account is used mostly for email.  I deleted a ton of them but somehow am still voer the 5GB limit.
I'm willing to pay the $100 upgrade to get rid of the hassle, but is theere a way to upgrade icloud storage for your secondary account?

You would probably have to temporarily make the secondary account the primary account to upgrade it.  To do this, go to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...delete the secondary account, then go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out of your primary account and choose Delete at all of the prompts (your data will still be in iCloud), then sign back in with your secondary account ID and upgrade the storage.
After upgrading the secondary account storage, reverse the procedure to assign the primary and secondary accounts back the way they were.

  • I got a mid 2011 macbook air 13 with 128gb ssd is it possible to upgrade my storage?

i got a mid 2011 macbook air 13 with 128gb ssd is it possible to upgrade my storage?

It is entirely possible, as many have known from day one (as ifixit's first teardown revealed). Unlike the unupgradeable memory, the SSD is a discrete expansion card that is removeable with just one screw, after removing the case cover. It is however debateable as to whether such an expansion is worth the possible risk of making demonstrable changes to the MBA whilst still under warranty. So you may want to stave off consideration for a while.
I made the upgrade recently on my older 2010 MBA, and it was easier than upgrading the HDD on my old MacBook Pro.

  • I want to upgrade my storage plan in icloud. Before that i want to know whether synchronization of data in my PC and data in one of the applications of ipad is possible through icloud or not

I want to upgrade my storage plan in icloud. Before that i want to know whether synchronization of data in my PC and data in one of the applications like "phone drive" of ipad is possible through icloud or not?

The Photos app doesn't currently support subfolders, it only has the one level of folder/album. You will either need to change your folder structure on your computer to be just one level, see if there is a third-party photo app in the store that copes with subfolders, or just make do. No one seems to be hearing what Big Q is saying.
He can pair his iPhone to his Macbook, but cannot CONNECT. He's NOT asking for alternative solutions, like Wi Fi.
I am able to both pair and connect my one one Macbook to my other one, but I can only pair but not connect my iPhone or iPad to either Macbook. So I have the same problem. But I can pair and connect my Macbooks to other Bluetooth devices, like my ancient Nokia cellfone, or my Bluetooth HP printer.
It's irrelavent that I can instead use a direct USB cable or Wi Fi between my Macbooks and my iPhone/iPad - why can't I use Bluetooth? If Apple does not allow Bluetooth between it's Macbooks and other Mac devices, then why have Bluetooth at all? Does my iPhone have Bluetooth only so that I can pair and connect to my my non Apple mobile handsfree car kit, or communicate easily with the dreaded Apple enemy Samsung, or what?
Make no mistake , I am a diehard Apple fan, but this Bluetooth non compatibility issue appears shortsighted and seemingly pointless. Why does Apple not just say why they created the non compatibility, or have a message on the Bluetooth setup programme which simply and clearly says "don't bother wasting hours of your time trying to pair and connect your iPhone to your Macbook, because we don't allow that anymore, reason being that............"?
As a first time user of this Forum I am surprised at the intolerant and highhanded tone of some of the replies  to what is a legitimate question, that is obviously plagueing many, many other Apple users.

Reason I had to chat with Customer Support is that I got the following message upon placing Upgrade Order.

  • Upgraded icloud storage and lost sent emails

I upgraded the storage on my iCloud account yesterday and now all of my sent messages from my main email account have vanished.  Does anyone have this problem.  I also have 3 other email accounts and all of the sent messages from those accounts are still present.  I have lost over 13k sent emails that are for my business.  HELP!!!!

Log into appleid.apple.com and verify that both the email addresses you use do not show up there in the same account. My worry is that you might be mistaking a login alias ([email protected]) as a separate account which it might be one in the same. Either way, if you are having issues downgrading your storage you will need to contact Apple for more assistance.

  • There is no mass storage option on my Blackberry / Using USB to export photos to computer.

I am trying to transfer photos from my Blackberry. I do not have a data plan or a micro sd card, so the usb mass storage option is (I believe) the only way for me to get my photos off my phone and onto my computer.
I plug the usb cord into my computer and phone, but my computer does not recognize the phone as a storage device, so when I click on "Removable Disk (E)" in My Computer, I get prompted to insert a disk into the drive.
I read that in order for this to work, I need to enable mass storage on my Blackberry. I go to options, device, and storage; however, there is no "Mass Storage" option even listed there. The only two options with check boxes are "Enable Compression" and "Media Card Support."
Is the mass storage option elsewhere on the Blackberry Curve? I have tried restarting my phone, computer, using different usb ports, and using different usb cords to no avail. How can I get my photos off my phone?
