Upgrading ipad and giving my old one to family memeber. How to set up to both use I tunes

I have an ipad 1 which I am giving to my son . I will be buying an Ipad 4 and I want us to use the same itunes . He will us many kids apps which i do not want to transfer to my I pad when I sync my Ipad 4
In other words how to I set my son up on my old Ipad and how do i set up my new Ipad so that we are not synicng each other apps

First, your husband can create his own Apple ID via the web, computer, or iPad, if he hasn't already:

Next, he can sign out of the Apple services that are currently using your Apple ID on your old iPad, and sign in with his own.

It's not a good idea to allow websites to redirect to another site until you know for sure the original site is trustworthy.
But if you still want to do it (again not a good idea).
Tools>Options>Advanced>General - In Accessibility, uncheck "warn me when web sites try to redirect..." option.

Wipe iPhone/iPad/iPod touch clean
There are a few steps to do:
Switch off iMessage in Settings > Messages
Switch off FaceTime in Settings > FaceTime (iPod touch 4th Generation or later, iPhone 4 or later and iPad 2 or later)
Delete iCloud in Settings > iCloud > Delete Account
Finally Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Un-register your device: https://supportprofile.apple.com
Now you can sell/give.
Now, you should get her a new Apple ID to sign in the options above.

You can change the primary email address on an account by logging into it via the 'manage your apple id' button on http://appleid.apple.com, or via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone and logging into it.
You won't be able to change it to an email address that is being used an alternate or rescue email address on the account (they can be viewed/changed/removed via http://appleid.apple.com), nor to one that is currently being used as the primary email address on an account

But every time I plug them into iTunes on my Pc all the apps get screwed up. apps disappear etc. I have "sync apps" selected without automatic updates. I'm thinking I should have this unselected, but that does make sense to me. Shouldn't I be able to have one iTunes account and manage each device independently. If you selected open a new Apple ID account, go back a step and enter use existing Apple ID.
You will have to set up a separate iCloud account or your iPads will mirror each other.

Connect it to his iTunes library and set it up as a new device. You should be prompted to Erase and Sync the iPod if his iTunes library is separate from hers.
Or head to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all Content and Settings.

So the answer to my question is yes - from an old Exchange account that was provided by a previous employer.
If so, you can't.
You can't merge or transfer contacts that were synced over the air with an Exchange account with another account, and the same for syncing the contacts direct with a supported address book app on your computer. This is how most employers want it.

I've just found out the reason for this behaviour. I am syncing from a computer which is different to the one I first synced with. iTunes can't cope with this situation so deletes anything synced from another source.
