Upgrading iPhone from 3g to 4s: What do I NEED to know for a seemless transfer of all pertinent data?

Regarding my question, I am curious if my new phone will have access to all I have access on my current phone. If not all transfers seemlessly, what do I need to be aware of before I upgrade?

Back up your data and include the backup folder created by iTunes in your computer backup routine as well. The location of the folder and the content of the backup is described in this article: iTunes: About iOS backups
Backing up data from your phone is also mentioned here: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
Transfer purchases to your computer and Back up your device by syncing it with your Mac or PC first.
After your new phone got set up, you can use the latest backup to restore from. You might have to fill in some passwords again for security reasons.

Your problem will be that AppleTV only has HDMI and optical output - no analogue out so unless say you had a B&W Zeppelin or similar that has optical in you'd need something esle to decode the audio to ananlogue.
Some have also reported AppleTV not working for audio when TV is off or in standby.
You may be better off having both!

  • Want to replace my hard drive from 160g to 500g what do i need to know

want to replace my hard drive on a compaq presario sr055cl. it has a 160 g hard drive how big can i go
    This question was solved.

Here is the Service Manual showing how to replace a hard drive:
    Manual
It does have 2 SATA connectors. Here is a picture of the motherboard.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00069442&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...
This is primitive SATA. It is a SATA connection to an IDE bus. However, the fact that you have a 160 gig drive already installed tells me the motherboard will accept Large Block Addressing 48 bit (LBA48) which means you are not really constrained by size. I am sure a 500 gig drive will work and will bet a 1 TB would also work. I will also bet you would have problems with a high density drive of 2 TB or higher. The existing drive is a IDE, which means it is connected to the motherboard with a flat ribbon cable. You will have a hard time finding an IDE drive on the market these days. It will have to be SATA. Just attach a SATA data cable between the hard drive and the motherboard. You will likely need to get a molex (white 4-pin) to SATA power adapter, too, but those often come with the hard drive or are available for a couple bucks at the store where hard drives are sold.
You should be able to clone the old drive to the new using cloning software. I like and recommend Acronis True Image Home. If I were doing this I would connect the new SATA drive to the motherboard port with the side cover off and also bring power to the SATA drive. I would leave the original drive in and boot from the cloning software disk doing a proportional resize so all partitions are expanded the same percentage. After the clone is complete remove the original drive and bolt the SATA drive in its place. I would just tell you to add a second hard drive but the computer only has space for one unless you want to remove the card reader.
You may need to enable the SATA ports in the BIOS if they are not currently in use. The motherboard picture page linked above tells how to enter the BIOS. Post back if you need more help.

  • What do i need to know for remote purchase Adobe products?

I will be purchasing CS6 Master Collection from the USA and will be using it in Europe. I would like to know what things must i be careful of when purchasing such a product and what should i ask the seller of, so that i will avoid to encounter any bad surprises for eg. activation, hyphenation or any other things that would a product from a foreign country would cause me!

    blue sky,
I will assume you are running a version of OSX later than 10.3. If this is the case, adding wireless could not be easier.
    - If you want 54Mbps "extreme" speed, then just pop in one of the below PC cards; they use the Broadcom chipset which AirPort software fully supports.

    - If speed (or price) is no concern, you can install the original AirPort card (11Mbps) under the keyboard. This is the only card that works in that slot, is fully supported by AirPort, and offers an always-present, hidden wireless card. It is no longer made so your source will be the secondary market with high prices.

    Hi RadarCat16,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be frustrating when you are waiting for content to download to your iPhone from the iTunes Store. There are a few steps I would recommend in this situation. Please read over and follow the steps in the attached article.
iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1725
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.
If you can't complete the download on your iOS device, you can download it in iTunes on your Mac or PC and then sync it to your iOS device. You can also transfer purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

I would get anything you need to keep from OS8 on an external of some sort or back it all up so you can retrieve it.

  • How can I import pictures from my iphone to PC which I imported to the iphone from another PC? The folder doesn't show on my computer. I see all other pictures I took with the phone but not the imported folder.

Photos that were synced from a computer won't show for copying to a computer. If you want to copy them back then you will need a third-party app on your phone such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer (e.g. their dimensions might be different and their colours may look a bit different).

  • I moved from the UK to the US with my iMac. What do I need to buy for the UK iMac to work in the US? A power convertor? A plug convertor? or Both?

I moved from the UK to the US with my iMac. What do I need to buy for the UK iMac to work in the US? A power convertor? A plug convertor? or Both?  I had previously read that you only need a plug convertor (three prong to two prong).  But I'm terrified that my iMac will blow up if I only use a plug convertor and not some sort of voltage convertor (Transformer).

I'm not really hardware tech savy - is it easy to pop out the UK power cable and plug in the US power cable? Or do I need to get someone like an iMac support guy to do this? And because of the voltage difference, is there something built into the iMac that takes care of the voltage difference for me?  Thanks!!

But you can download DNG converter 8.6 or newer and create digital negative (DNG) copies that will be compatible with Photoshop CS5. I changed my iPhone from an IPhone 4 to an iPhone 5. How do I delete my iCloud account on my old phone without losing all the data on my new iPhone 5?

If you have any photo stream photos on your old phone that you want to keep you might want to save them to the camera roll, then import them to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083) before deleting the account.  The reason for this is that photo stream photos are only kept in iCloud for 30 days.  When you enable photo stream on your new phone you will only receive photo stream photos from the last 30 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud.
