Upgrading ipods

How much will it cost to upgrade from a 20g clickwheel Ipod to a 30g or 80g black I pod? Do you get any discounts by trading in your old Ipod?

  • My iPod touch won't connect to wifi. Password is correct. Already reset network settings and restored ipod to original settings. Already updated iTunes and upgraded iPod to iOS 6.

A message keeps popping up when I try to join my network that says, "unable to join the network."
I have already reset network settings and restored ipod to original settings.
I already updated iTunes and upgraded iPod to iOS 6.
The password is correct. I even made sure by checking my wifi account.
I have completely restarted my internet connection multiple times.
I have also restarted my ipod multiple times
My wifi was working on my iPod yesterday before I reset all settings.
I updated it yesterday to iOS 5. Still didn't work.
It wasn't updated to the new iOS 6 until today so I don't think it has anything to do with the upgrade.
My camera started to be glitchy, so I reset my Ipod like I was advised in another discussion.
My internet wasn't connected anymore. My password wasn't working either, but the wifi connection was still showing.
    Safari still wasn't working, though.
I did the sensible thing and I reset my network connection.
Now, the password isn't working and there's no wifi signal.
The camera is working well now, but the wifi is messed up. I didn't expect any of this to happen. The internet is all I use the iPod for. Now, the iPod is useless to me. Please help?

are other things still connecting to the wifi without a problem?
Have you tried resetting network settings, then unplugging modem and router from power for 40 seconds then plugging back in letting the lights stabilize and Then recconecting with the ipod>?

  • HT203167 I am missing my audiobooks after upgrading ipod to new os

I am missing my audiobooks after upgrading ipod to new os.

Even though Apple iTunes has reached agreements with the Music and Film industries, they cannot offer Audiobooks over the Cloud.
So, when you buy an Audiobook, you must download it to your main machine and hold it there. If you upgrade your hardware (iPod, iPhone, or iPad) or IOS software, the audiobook on that device disappears and you will have to download it again from your main machine. This means wiring it up "old school" and not wifi.
As a consequence, it is advisable never to buy an audiobook from a portable device as it will not sync and will not be available for download elsewhere. I did this and I had to ask Apple to "push" a new file so that I could download it on my main machine.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I upgrade iPod from 4.3.5 to 5.0.1

How do I upgrade iPod touch from 4.3.5 to 5.0.1

Okay First you have to have the latest version of iTunes witch is 10.5.3. Then connect your iPod . Go to your Itunes bar on the left and click your ipod. Then click update as long as it is a 3rd or 4th generation.  Then when you get it updated you can update right from your ipod in settings

  • After 4.3.3 upgrade ipod does not shuffle songs

After 4.3.3 upgrade ipod does not shuffle songs. The stop shuffling after any interruption occurs. So If play in the card, get a call, answer it then go back to the music, I have to manually select shuffle. This did not occur prior to the IOS update.

WEP and Apple products are only somewhat compatible - as you are finding out. If you create your own passwords, then you have to follow specific rules - 48 bit, 5 characters, 128 bit, 14 characters. Shorter or longer, the password won't work.
If you are stuck with WEP (I'd update the laptops with a USB wireless stick before I used WEP, but that's your decision) try the following:
    1. Use the 128 bit setting
    2. Either create a 14 character password or use WEP key 1 (that's the hex key) in place of your password on the touch.
You could set up a second wireless access point and, as long as it used a different SSID, setup to run WPA2-AES encryption. That would take care of your modern devices.

  • Upgrade iPod 4g to iPhone 4s with same features?

Hello, I am currently using a iPod 4g and I want a iPhone 4s, I found a great deal ona unlocked one and want to know if I could use the iPhone as a upgraded iPod as in it only works through Wi-Fi like a iPod?

Not exactly. It means you can use a different provider for your cellular phone service if the phone is unlocked. This doesn't have anything to do with WiFi.

The hardwae on the 3G iPod does not support iOS 6. The 4G marginally supports iOS 6.

  • How to upgrade iPod 4.3.3 to iOS 6

How to upgrade iPod 4.3.3 to iOS 6?

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device. It will be updated to the newest iOS release supported by the device’s hardware.
The maximum iOS version for the third generation iPod touch and original iPad is 5.1.1.
The maximum iOS version for the fourth generation iPod touch and iPhone 3GS is 6.1.6.
If you don't know what device you have, append the last three characters of its serial number to http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords= and load the page.

  • Trying to upgrade iPod Touch 4G from 4.2.1 to 5.0.1...

I have been having problems with my home button since late Dec 2011 (about a week before the warranty ran out). This week the button decided to completely die on me (I tried fixing it with rubbing alcohol and compressed air, nothing made a difference). I have been trying for 2 days now to upgrade to iOS5 so I can use the assistive touch on screen home button. I have a 64 bit Windows 7 system that is new and clean. I upgraded to iTunes 10.5.3 through iTunes itself (that was a fight). I did all my syncs and back ups. Then I tried to update my iOS through iTunes. I keep getting a 'connection timed out' error after anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes into the download. I've tried disabling my anti-virus and firewall, nothing changed. I tried running iTunes diagnostics and its telling me that the connecting to the firmware server was unsuccessful (connection timed out). So I tried to do a fresh install on a Windows XP machine that I use only for internet (not bogged down with tons of files and programs). This machine never had iTunes on it. That took half the morning to even get that to work, but I had the same outcome as on my other machine. I've tried downloading the IPSW file from many different sites. When I go to load that file on through iTunes (shift+click on upgrade or restore), it tells me that it cannot upgrade because the firmware is not compatible. I double and triple checked that I had the firmware for iPod Touch 4G (and yes, I have a 4G). I started iTunes in safe mode and am trying the download only now...so far its been downloading, but as I type this it is probably doing the connection timed out thing (yep, before I even hit Post Message). The computer is wired to the router, I could try a direct wire to the modem, but I don't know if that'll help. So I do not know what else to do. Anyone have any suggestions? I just want to get my iPod up and running with the on screen home button...

I tried downloading the file myself (not through iTunes), making sure I got the iPod 4G file. Go into iTunes and install it and it says it cannot upgrade because the firmware is not compatible
iOS 4.2.1 - there's a clue. It begs the question about which model of iPod you have. Yes, I know you said:  (and yes, I have a 4G) by which I assume you're saying that you have a 4th generation Touch, but are you sure? This has been claimed before by people who then discover that they do not have a 4th gen Touch. Which size Touch do you have and what is the model number on the back of your iPod? If it says model A1288, that's a 2nd generation iPod Touch. Check this page  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 for help in identifying your model of iPod.
The second clue - and the reason I've mentioned all this, is that you then say you have downloaded the file yourself but "it cannot upgrade because the firmware is not compatible." In other words, iOS 5.0 cannot be used with your iPod. That also suggests that you have 2nd gen Touch.
Persumbaly, you have tried connecting the Touch to iTunes and selecting "check for updates?" What does it say?

  • How to upgrade ipod touch 4th generation ios

I have a 4th gen. iPod Touch (bought for Christmas last year) and just got my kids Touches for Christmas this year.  Under Settings/General, the kids' Touches have an option for Software Update, but on last year's Touch, there is no such option.  It has version 4.1 but my kids just upgraded to 5.0.1.  How do I upgrade to the new iOS on last year's Touch if there is no Software Update option under Settings?

  • Mac's iTunes can't download to upgrade iPod Touch to v2.1?

    Hello.
Earlier, I was trying to update an iPod Touch to v2.1 but I ran into problems with iTunes v8.01's download in Mac OS X/Leopard v10.5.5 on a MacBook Pro. iTunes said:
"There were problems downloading some purchased items.

I noticed iTunes' download said 4 KB downloaded and had resume option which failed with the same errors.
At first, I thought it was maybe because Mac OS X account level was at "standard". So, I changed it to administrator level, logged off, and relogged in to retry. I got the same errors again.
So I decided to log off and log in with the other account with administrator access. That worked (downloaded, restoring iPod Touch which is still processing as I type this). Also, this was a brand new iTunes account and sharing music files with other accounts on MacBook Pro if they matter.
What happened so I can fix this for future downloads and upgrades. Thank you in advance.

    Anyone? Bumped.

  • Can't upgrade ipod touch to ios 5 beta 2?

Hi everyone! I recently tried to upgrade my firmware from ios 5 beta 1 to ios 5 beta 2 (I have a developer account, paid the $99 and everything).
The upgrade to beta 1 from 4.3.3 was pretty much flawless. When I tried to upgrade to ios 5 beta 2, it seemed to work until the last step, at which point the ipod touch was off and could not be turned on. When connected to a computer, it said it was stuck in recovery mode. I couldn't switch my firmware in Organizer any more, not even back to beta 1.
I restored down to 4.3.3 again cause I figured it would wipe the whole thing and let me upgrade back to beta 1 at least. That much worked, I have an ipod with 4.3.3 on it.
Now when I try to upgrade back UP to beta 2 or even beta 1 again, I get this error: "Could not allocate buffer (file exists)" and the ipod goes back into recovery mode, and I must again restore down to 4.3.3.
What file is this, how can I delete it, and how can I upgrade again to beta 2? This ought to be the last time I need to upgrade with a wired connection, since all updates from Beta 2 onwards are OTA as far as I know.
I was quite fearful of "bricking", but a friend who is far more familiar with the inner workings of the ipod touch than I am has assured me that since the computer detected it in recovery mode, it wasn't a lost cause.
I was originally attempting the install from a slightly older version of Xcode, which is probably the root cause of this problem and I am now kicking myself.
    Thanks for the help!

  • HT4972 Want to upgrade iPod Touch 2G from iOS 3.1.3 to iOS 4.2.1 - Help!

I have an iPod Touch 16GB 2G that currently runs on iOS 3.1.3. When I check for updates to the software in iTunes, I'm told that the software is up to date. Yet, online, many sources say that my iPod touch can be upgraded to iOS 4.2.1. But, I cannot figure out how to download/install. Please help direct me to where in iTunes, the iTunes Store, or online I can download and install this older software upgrade.

Sorry but Apple only allows you to update to the latest iOS.

  • After iTunes 10 upgrade iPod Classic not identified nor can I restore

Totally lost and don't know how to proceed. I have been using iTunes with my iPhone with never a problem. I received an iPod classic 160GB for Christmas last year and again, no problems, everything has been working great.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I upgraded to iTunes 10 and iTunes works great. I plugged in my iPhone 2G, no problem. I plugged in my iPod Classic 160GB and iTunes freezes, NOTHING happens at all. The album cover pictures don't even display until after I unplug the iPod Classic device.
I can see iPod device in "My Computer" but not in iTunes 10. In iTunes 10 the device doesn't appear at all until I give up and unplug the device. Then an error message pops up and the iPod is shown in the left column. The error says a file is missing and the device can't sync. I can't do anything except click OK. Then the error message goes away and the device drops out of the left column.
I searched for info on this problem, and have tried all of the suggestions.
It charges through USB with no problem except the battery is fully charged.
I tried 3 different USB ports on the PC.
    Tried restarting iTunes.
    Tried restarting the computer.
Went to Apple support website, tried the troubleshooting assistant:
    *Reset the iPod.
*Had already tried different USB ports.
*Had already tried restarting the PC.
*Removed iTunes 10 and all the software programs in the order specified.
*Went to Apple website and Re-installed iTunes.
*ITunes and iPhone still work fine, NO iPod Classic recognition in iTunes.
*Next option is to Restore but CAN'T because iTunes won't recognize the iPod to perform Restore. After reading the instructions, it appears that the iPod has to be connected to do this, and that's the problem -won't connect!
Is there anyone who can help? This didn'thappen until installed iTunes 10.
The iPod has 120GB of music on the device. The device is still working fine. I just can't get iTunes 10 to recognize the iPod Classic device.

After upgrading to iTunes 10, when I tried to connect my 80GB iPod Classic to my Mac Book Pro, the iPod was not recognized by either my computer or by iTunes. It would say "Connecting" on the iPod, but then it would click and show the Apple icon for a few seconds, then the cycle would repeat.
I finally decided to start the iPod in Disk Mode and then connect to my computer. When I did that, it would connect to my iTunes and I was able to sync.
I then went to Disk Utility and verified and repaired my iPod disk (no problems and nothing to repair.) On one discussion, the person then erased everything from his iPod and then restored. Rather than do that, I disconnected my iPod and re-connected it in the standard mode. This time, it was recognized by iTunes and I was able to sync.
Tried it again this morning and again it was able to sync. The next time, it may not, but right now it appears that might be a possible solution.
