Upgrading Logic

I just went to 10.4.8 Tiger. I want to upgrade to Logic 7.2.3 but can't get past 7.0.1 BECAUSE I CAN NOT FIND THE 7.1 UPGRADE ANYWHERE. Can anybody tell me where to find the download?

You don't need 7.1, you can buy the 7.2 corssgrade directly.
However, Apple have now pulled this from their stores, indicating something's happening soon.
I'm sure the next big upgrade will be the same price whether you are on 7 or 7.2, so you'll probably just have to stick with what you have for now until the future is revealed. You just left it too long before wanting to upgrade - 7.1 came out a few years ago now, even 7.2 has been out a long while...

All i find over web is Logic pro 9 is available for 199 and no upgrade options on any other site like musicians friend and sweetwater.

As far as I can see that is your option . The upgrade when it existed was 199.99 so I guess there is that .
I'm more curious on going forward how or if they are going to do upgrade pricing for Logic Pro ?
There is as far as I know no precedence for upgrade pricing in the app store , but I could maybe see them realize an otherwise useless update before V10 that had buying the upgrade as an in app purchase ?
It would be very nice if Apple would get with the times and Let it's users know what is going on ...to my knowledge they have still have not made even an official announcement of Express being discontinued even …which is shady .

Upgrade Logic 7.0.1 to 7.2

I'm trying to upgrade Logic 7.0.1 to 7.2. There used to be a nice cheap crossgrade that you could get for $49. Of course, I didn't have the money at the time. Now this crossgrade is no longer available, at least I can't find it anywhere! Here's an archived page from the apple site which no longer exists:

This is proof that they used to have it but now its gone! What about the poor customers who just need to upgrade/crossgrade from 7.0 to 7.2? are we stuck with having to pay $299?! - that would be ridiculously insane and a seriously bad business practice of apple to do this to us. Please help! I'm sure others are in the same boat! I need my software to be working properly before school assignments start pouring in (electronic music classes).

There have been many threads about this issue in the past couple months. It appears that the crossgrade was, in fact, a limited time offer, which was extended a couple times, but has since expired. Sorry about the frustration.

Upgrading Logic and Mac at the same time?

Hey, I need a bit of help. I am curenttly running Logic 7 on a 2.0 dual core powermac G5. When Apple release the penryn chips I will sell my G5 and get a new mac book pro. I want to upgrade to Logic 8 (the UK upgrade price is about £130). However would I need to install logic 7 on the new mac to be able to use the upgrade? Sorry if this sounds stupid! I don't really wanna be installing old software on my new mac. Could someone explain how this would work. I would prefer to keep everything new and simple, for some reason I have an image of installing 7 and then upgrading to 8 is gonna eat all my memory and hardrive space and muck up the new machine?! Kinda wanted to start afresh with new computer, new software etc. There is nothing I need to bring over from my copy of Logic, no tracks or plug-in's or anything. Also another factor is I think I have 7 or 7.1, not sure that will even run on the new intels will it? If I remember I think 7.2 was the intel upgrade. If I had the money I would just buy it from scratch but I don't have the money and spent about £600 on it originally so would prefer to keep costs down!

No, just install Logic 8 and have your XSkey handy.
Logic 7 installation is not required (or even advisable.)

Problem Upgrading Logic Studio to 9.1.1 From 9.0.2

I was on Snow Leopard with Logic Pro with version 9.0.2. I upgraded to Lion (big regrets but that's whole different story) bottom line is that version 9.0.2 no longer runs. I get a pop-up window that says "You Can't Use this Version...". Not a big one, so I go ahead and download the latest Logic Pro 9.1.1 and try to install. But It won't install. It says "Your Computer Does Not Need This Upgrade". I don't know what to do next. Is there a resource file that I need to trash or what would you suggest?

Got it. Found similar postings with the solution. I'll re-stated it just to save anyone running into this post a bit of search time.
1. Go to the Application folder. Find the Logic Pro application and edit the application name. Get rid of the numbers and spaces if any. Just leave it as Logic Pro.
2. Re-attempt to install 9.1.1 this time it worked for me -well, sort of. It turns out that 9.1.1 is also no compatible with Lion.
3. Launch the Software Update application and updgrade to the latest version. For me it was 9.1.5.
All seems well.

Considering that Logic Pro allows you to use previous versions without implications, there may be nothing in the agreement saying that you cannot use Express at the same time. Besides, something like this is probably not going to catch Apple's attention because both Express and the Upgrade were legally purchased by you. It would be a different story if you used Express through other matters. However, I am not a lawyer and don't profess to be (but I am a software and multimedia developer). You are best to talk to Apple themselves and see what they say.

I'm forbidden to upgrade. These screenshots should tell the story.

"Grab" didn't get the color (blue) right - it appears gray in the grab - but I assure you it is in the proper place - all the other info is correct. I didn't grab the file size or the date (251.8 MB - 2/11/10)
Yes, I should have mentioned this also - to save you the trouble. I guess this was a fix for others, but not in this case.
It is in my Applications Folder - not at root level - nor in a subfolder.
Its name is the same that Apple gave it when installed. "Logic Pro 9.0.2.app"
As that is not the problem, is there anyway to get Apple Support to write a support ticket on this?

Issues with songs/older NI AU settings after upgrading logic and NI AU

Hi All,
I'm digging around the net for this, but thought I'd ask you all.
I have older songs created with Logic 7 on a PPC with Absynth 3. I have since upgraded to an Intel and Logic 8.02 and also have upgraded to Absynth 4. When I open this older song, all is well except it attempts to load the older version of Absynth (3) and fails. The real issue for me here is that I have settings created on the Absynth 3 inst that I need to re-create the older song with the newer code. Is there a way to load the song to use the newer versions of third party software with the settings used when created on an older version?
Maybe some import process?

No. As far as the application goes, Absynth 3 is a totally different plugin than Absynth 3. If you have saved your presets into a new file, then Absynth 4 is likely able to read from there.

Perhaps not, but it's been mentioned on this forum dozens of times.
The upgrade won't touch your Logic 8 install.

Upgrading Logic 8 to 9 via download

Hi - I'm using OSX 10.6.8 and decided to upgrade from Logic Pro 8 to Pro 9. Downloaded 9 from the App store and installed. When I opened Logic it started downloading 2Gb of data. When it got as far as1.5Gb (16 hours later) it asked me for my password. When I put it in all that happened was that the download started again from the beginning. Next time round, as it says the download will resume if you quit, I quit, and the password demand went too. But when I reopened Logic the download started again from the beginning. Is there another way? Thanks for any advice. Guy

One solution that I have seen is to delete the Logic App and start the whole process again :-(

Upgrading Logic 8 to 9 with clean OSX Install

I just ordered Logic 9 (upgrading from Logic 8). The disks should arrive tomorrow. I also just got Snow Leopard (I'm currently using 10.5.8) and want to do a clean install of Snow Lep before installing the Logic upgrade to bring my 2.8Ghz MacBook Pro to "new status". I'll be using it mainly for Main Stage and want a spanking new system that's free of all the other apps and files I've accumulated over the last couple of years.
Will the Logic 9 (Upgrade from 8) install properly and completely on a computer that's been first "clean installed" with Snow Lep, or will I have to install Logic 8 first and then perform the upgrade (yuk).

Yes Logic Pro 9 Upgrade is the Complete Logic Studio...
If you look at the Contents of the full Retail Version of Logic 9 and the Upgrade Version... There is No Difference...
When you get your New 27" iMac Snow Leopard will already be Installed...
Just turn it on and follow the Prompts... Very Easy...
When you are Upgrading to Logic 9 just make sure you have your Serial Number for Logic 8 handy...

PS Don't forget to run Software Update after you get your Mac Set Up...
Also make sure you have your Logic 8 PROJECTS saved to an External Hard Drive will ALL ASSETS saved...

Upgrading logic boards

ok know that this question has been asked several times but it mostly dealt with the AL pb's. i have a dvi TI @ 867 and i was told that there is a higher one (logic board) then the one i am currently using. what is it? also is it possible to cross over from the TI dvi to an entry level (if there is a such thing) AL pb? is that even possible and and where does one acquire a list of all the pb g4 series? i had just found out there there are several levels just within the TI series (sorry i am a little slow on the uptake...). personally i am struggling with the way the PB are laid out in terms of release dates and specs

The only logic board upgrade that can be applied to your 867MHz is to replace its logic board with one from a 1GHz Tibook of the same final Ti generation. The speed boost is almost trivial. The difference between 32MB of VRAM on the 867MHz board and 64MB on the faster board might be significant, but not as significant as it was when these machines were current. On the whole, I'd say the upgrade isn't worthwhile at this point.

Upgrade logic for the projectmix

I'm using logic pro 7.01 and i was wondering if i should get the upgrade 7.1 because i have a projectmix now and have some really annoying problems with it.
Do you think it will help or is there not that much difference?

You should make the bump up anyways!
not much worth noting in ver.7.2, but 7.1 would at least offer some new plugins that you may get some use out of... even that is worth the cost of upgrading, even if used only once.
