Upgrading Memory Modules: HP Envy Rove 20 Mobile All-in-One PC

** Be aware that performing this process to an In-Warranty device could effect warranty coverage.
Memory Max
 16GB DDR3 SDRAM (2 SO-DIMMs)
CAUTION: Observe all precautions when removing and replacing components.
To prevent damage to the unit, protect data, and avoid personal injury, review and follow these precautions.
Before you begin
If the unit contains heated components, wait until the components have cooled off before proceeding. Refer to the service manual for details on how long each component requires to adequately cool off.
Put on your electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist or shoe strap to avoid damaging any circuitry.
Place an ESD mat on a suitably grounded surface, and then place the unit on the mat.
Remove any devices from the unit being serviced, such as diskettes, tape cartridges, or CD-ROMs.
Power off the unit and any peripheral devices that are connected to it.
NOTE: Replacing a hot-plug device does not require powering down the unit.
Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet and then from the unit. When a unit is plugged into an AC power source, voltage is always applied to the unit. You must therefore disconnect the power cord from the power source before opening the unit.
Disconnect all peripheral device cables from the unit.
Static electricity
Static electricity can damage electrical components. Before removing or replacing a component, observe the following precautions to prevent damage to electric components and accessories:
Remove all ESD-generating materials from your work area.
To avoid hand contact, transport and store all electrostatic parts and assemblies in conductive or approved ESD packaging such as ESD tubes, bags, or boxes.
Keep electrostatic-sensitive parts in their containers until they arrive at static-free stations. Before removing items from their containers, place the containers on a grounded surface.
Do not take the new component out of its ESD package or handle any component before connecting your ESD wrist or shoe strap to a suitably grounded surface.
Always use an ESD-protected work station when servicing the unit. If an ESD work station is not available, ground yourself to discharge body static by touching the metal chassis of the unit you are servicing.
Avoid contact with pins, leads, or circuitry.
Use the ESD package provided with the new part to return the old part.
Disassembly
Ensure that you take the following precautions when disassembling a unit:
Label each cable as you remove it, noting its position and routing. This will make replacing the cables much easier and will ensure that the cables are rerouted properly.
Keep all screws with the component removed, if applicable. The screws used in each component can be of different thread sizes and lengths. Using the wrong screw in a component could damage the unit.
If the unit contains light-sensitive components such as toner cartridges, store the component in its original packaging or in a dark location to avoid damage.
STEP 1: Removing the bottom cover
NOTE: The battery cannot be disconnected until the back cover is removed. Use care not to power on the unit during handling.
With the unit flat, back cover facing up, close the stand.
Remove the media card or media blank from the media slot in the center of the bottom cover.
Using a non-marring tool, carefully pry out two rubber screw covers.
Loosen completely, the two captive P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the bottom cover to the back cover.
Starting along the bottom, carefully pry off the bottom cover and pull it away from the unit to remove.
STEP 2: Remove the back cover
Remove the five 6 mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the back cover to the unit.
Starting along the sides, carefully pry off the back cover and pull it up and off of the unit to remove.
STEP 3: Memory Removal
Before you begin: Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Push both arms outward simultaneously to release the memory board to the spring tension position.
CAUTION: When handling a memory board, use care to prevent touching the memory chips on the board. Touching the memory chips could damage or destroy the memory.
Grasp the memory board by the edges and pull gently to remove it.
Place the memory board in a static dissipative bag.
STEP 4: Memory replacement or installation
Grasp the memory board by the edges and remove it from the static dissipative bag.
Align the notch in the memory board with the key in the empty board receptacle on the system board.
At an angle, gently insert the memory board into the slot on the system board.
CAUTION: When handling a memory board, use care to prevent touching the memory chips on the board. Touching the memory chips could damage or destroy the memory.
Press the memory board down to latch the arms.
NOTE: Be sure to reconnect the battery cable to the system board before completing reassembly of the unit.
STEP 5: Back cover replacement
Align and press the back cover into position until it snaps into place.
Replace the five 6 mm P1 Phillips-head screws to secure the back cover to the unit.
STEP 6: Bottom cover replacement
Align the bottom cover tabs with the slots in the back cover.
Carefully press the bottom cover into position and snap it into place.
Tighten the two captive P1 Phillips-head screws to secure the bottom cover to the back cover.
Replace the two rubber screw covers.
Replace the media card or media blank removed earlier.
Press the stand release button to have the stand pop up to support the unit when it is upright.
** Remember to keep the original RAM module(s) for potential future troubleshooting needs.  If you ever have to send the unit in for repair it will have to have these original module(s) in place.
Hope this helps,
Jason

  • Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade issue (from Windows 8 Pro) on Envy 23 TouchSmart All-In-One...

    Hello,
I have an HP Envy 23 Touchsmart All-In-One that I purchased a year ago (around 12/2012). It came preinstalled with Windows 8.
    System Information:
    a) Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770S CPU @ 3.10 GHz
    b) 8192 MB of RAM
A few weeks after I had bought the system, I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center that I purchased through Microsoft's upgrade program.
Last week (10/19/2013), I saw the upgrade option to Windows 8.1 in the store and decided to upgrade.
After a few minutes, I got a prompt asking me to restart the computer and I did.
However, I noticed that the screen went blank, but it really didn't restart - I saw that the hard disk light was still blinking and I waited for around 15 minutes. I know it didn't restart because if it did I would have seen the HP logo on the BIOS screen. A little later, the system went into sleep mode (at least, the power button light was blinking slowly as if it was on sleep). Since it was late at night, I decided to leave the system alone and decided to check on it next morning. Next morning, it was still in sleep mode (as I feared) - when I tried to wake it up from sleep by moving the mouse/hitting the return key, it made the exact sounds as if it was waking up from sleep (as it always does), but the screen was still blank. The power button slight was glowing steadily indicating that it is awake now.
At this point, I decided to power down the system by holding the power button for a few seconds. Upon reboot, I saw the HP logo on the BIOS bootup screen and then the screen went blank and nothing came up.
So I decided to do a system recovery using my Windows 8 recovery CD and powered down the system with the CD in its slot. This time, the system came up and immediately started restoring my OS to a previous version.
Upon logging in to the recovered system, I got the following message:
    "Couldn't update to Windows 8.1
Sorry, we couldn't complete the update to Windows 8.1. We've restored your previous version of Windows to this PC.
    0xC1900101 - 0x40019".
I tried reinstalling Windows 8.1 a couple of times after this. Once by disabling all the non-Microsoft services and disabling all the startup programs. Still the same result.
I don't have any antivirus software on my system other the default Microsoft system protection software.
    Any help, much appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Hp officejet 150 mobile all-in-one mac os 10.10

Since I've upgraded to Yosemite -- Mac OS 10.10 - the Mobile all-in-one does not work AT ALL .  Even hardwired - nothing.  Help!

    Hello @tootallprod ,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.
Unfortunately With Yosemite being so new, a lot of people are experiencing this issue with a lot of brands and models. Please keep checking back to see if the Yosemite drivers become available for your product. I suggest, if you really need to print, to go back to Mavericks and use it until the new Yosemite drivers become available.
In the meantime you can try doing all Apple updates and then trying to print.
Sorry for any inconvenience, best of luck.

  • HT3669 HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Version 3.2.1 does not work on iMac 20-inch, Mid 2007. Only recognizes scanner not USB printer.

HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Version 3.2.1 does not work on iMac 20-inch, Mid 2007. Only recognizes scanner not USB printer.
I would like to print via the USB connection instead of wireless (the wireless does work, and the scanner works via USB).
I tried connecting the printer directly (via USB) to my MacBook Pro laptop and it worked just fine.
How can I make this printer work on my iMac?
I spent 4 hours on the phone with HP and we did every combination of installation of drivers ad nausum and their bottom line is that it is a Mac problem.
Any help would be appreciated. Will be sending this printer back to Amazon if I can't make it work on the USB.
I am open to questions or suggestions
    Thanks,
    Chet

After 4 hours on the phone with HP and another hour with Apple (Mavericks support) no real solution other than check everything (removed everything from Login Items, removed all HP software anywhere in the system reboot, reinstall printer) then when nothing worked for the 4500, did an OS Reinstall (boot with CMD+R).
The Mavericks support group did open an incident (# 542875311) and I will update it when I figure out how to find it on the system.
My feel is that the base problem is that somewhere between the HP-Inkjet-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.49-2 package and the Apple HP Printer software in the Library (version 2.16.1) the app for printing via the USP Port just does not get installed for the mid 2007 20 inch iMac. The scanner is recognized on the USB Port and the Printer works fine on Wi-Fi. I have too many devices to burden my home network with anothe device. Also, every time I put any HP Printer on Wi-Fi, my router (Netgear N600 WNDR3400 running 12 to 20 devices depending on who is home) gets wonky (but that's anothe story...).
Additionally, when I attach the HP Envy 4500 to my MacBook Pro (2010) it works perfect - print and scan via the USB prot and both functions show in the System Preferences - Printers and Scanners just as expected and just as the 3050 does.

trying to scan from hp officejet 150 mobile all in one to my computer. downloaded the full feature for my printer off hp website. push scan on printer and will not find program on my computer to scan to. help!!!

    Hi @Bryan1968,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are trying to scan with your HP Officejet 150 mobile to your Windows 7 computer. I am happy to help you with your scanning!
First, I would recommend to make sure you have downloaded, and installed the full feature software and drivers, from this website, HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver. It is possble, you might have accidentally installed the basic driver instead.
Then according to your printer's user guide, the scanning functionality will only with a USB cable connection from the printer to the computer. Please see page 43 of your printer's User Guide.
I would also visit this guide, How to Scan: Windows 7, as it will give you some alternate methods of scanning, even without HP software.
Hope this information is helpful, and have a great day!

  • HP Envy 5530 e-all-in-one Does Not Work With Mac

Just bought an HP Envy 5530 all-in-one. It does not print through Safari and possibly other Mac applications. Does not frame the page properly even with "print page" and prints slower  than 1 page per minute, even with no background images. My old HP had no problem with Safari. Phone support tells me there is no driver or fix. So I will return the device. Seems crazy. I now see othr commenters saying it doesn't work with Mac. If HP's no longer works with major Mac applications, they will be returned in droves. Anyone know why or know of a fix?

I am having the same issue. Did you ever find a solution?

  • HT3500 I have a MacBook Pro and an HP ENVY 110 SERIES All-In-One .  I can't seem to get a network set up or either one to locate or connect to the other one.

I've spent hours, actually probably days, trying to do this but it's not working. I've had the ENVY since Nov
and have not been able to print - much less do anything else with it.
My internet is CLEAR wireless. I use the little USB 4G Mobil Modem. This new HP ENVY is also wireless.
I know I can't be online and print at the same time unless I get a router.
I also know that I can go offline and change the network pref  to "airport" so I can print. Meaning I'll have to change
back and forth but for my uses,  that's ok..at least for right now.
What I can't seem to get set-up correctly is my own local network.
I'm pretty sure it's suppose to be done using "Airport".
Obviously, I'm doing something wrong in establishing my network.
The printer is listed on my printer preferences and shown as  "offline"  "default". I assume that means the ENVY
is my default printer.  Great! At least my Pro knows it's suppose to connect to the ENVY once everything's set-up correctly.
Now, if someone could just tell me exactly, step-by-step what to do to get that done....
    I'd be soooo very happy!
    Thank you!
    Ricki

Well... no help was found here.. so I abandoned the wireless- ness of my printer.  I bought a
small 10 port hub because only 2 USB ports really isn't enough with wireless mouse, wireless internet
and any kind of printer.   I also bought a long USB cable.  I now print--wired since this can be done
as an alternative to wireless with this printer.   Because I don't want a cable "hanging around"
when the printer is not in use, I simple disconnect it and reconnect when I want to print.
It's a temporary solution others may find helpful as well. Apparently there's been a lot of
confusion and problems getting this printer set up wirelessly with our MacBooks.
Shame on HP for not helping us out!

  • Envy 4500 e All-in-One - Still connects to network but won't talk to computers

I turned on my Envy 4500 the other day to print a paper for school, but it wouldn't print. It's connected to the same network as my computer, and I changed nothing, but now it simply won't cooperate. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, disabling my firewalls, restarting, running the Print and Scan doctor, resetting the printer to factory and reconfiguring the wireless settings, and nothing is helping. The Wi-Fi settings show that the connection is fine, but when I go to print wirelessly it shows the printer as offline. The issue is impacting all of the devices in my home that use the printer, including our Android phones, my Windows 7 desktop, and my wife's Windows 8.1 laptop.
I feel like I've done everything right, and it was working fine before, but for the life of me, my computer and my printer just won't talk to each other over the wi-fi. It works fine USB, but that's obviously not an ideal solution. Does anybody have any advice on this one?

Hello @NeapolitanSixth , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having connectivity issues. I would like to help!
I would recommend setting up a static IP on the printer:

  • Is it possible to add a hdmi port? Hp envy 23-d010ea all-in-one

I wanted to get a Ps4 soon but i dont have a tv, and on my computer i dont have a hdmi port. i see on other models of my computer they have it for example on the 23-d052 its like this
Where as on my one is like this
so that part is just an empty space. i was wondering if it were possible to add the hdmi port or if there was a way i could still play the ps4 on my computer?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter referenced above, is only designed to connect to a USB port on you computer and output an HDMI signal to an HDTV or monitor. It will not allow you to connect the HDMI output of a game console to your computer.
It may be possible to purchase all the components necessary to add that functionality to your computer, however the cost would far exceed the price of a new monitor or HDTV. Please purchase an inexpensive HDTV or monitor to use with your PlayStation.

Error "there was a problem connecting to the server"  came up when trying to scant to email on my Chromebook via the clouds.  Was working.  prior to being shut down for a week while on vacation.  I can scan to a ssd chip and get to PC that way.  I printed out Config. page. Internet & status show connected.  Router/modem ok for my pc, and wife's.  Hit retry several times... no good.  Attempted several full tries.  Got a new password, no change.  Shut down equipment a couple of times... no change.  Printer approx... 100 days old.  Low end printer for low usage, and low price... can't invest too much in it for fixing.  But, not eager to buy another one either!? Hi Sturgeon,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you have encountered difficulties when trying to use the scan to email feature of your Envy 5530 printer.
There are several steps I would like you to try please.
    Please turn off your printer.
Please turn off your router.  If your router doesn’t have an on/off switch, please unplug the power cord from the router.
After waiting a full 60 seconds please turn on your router (or plug it back in).
After the router has completed its startup routine please turn on your printer.
After the printer has completed its startup routine, please test the scan to email feature.  If it works there no need to continue with any further trouble shooting steps.
Please set a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer. I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots on how to do this.   Don’t worry that the screen shots show a Photosmart 7510 printer, the steps are the same.
Please test the scan to email feature.  If it works there is no need to continue with any further trouble shooting steps.
Please call HP’s Cloud Services at 1-855-785-2777 if you live in the USA/Canada region. If you live outside the USA/Canada region please click here to find the Technical Support number for your country/region.

    Hi JDIII,

But it can work with android devices. You can download the printshare app from Google play or other app store and print via bluetooth connection.
