Upgrading my laptops processor?

Hi there,  I want to make my computer (model = 15-r001na) faster for playing games as It is always well under the, what I  heard was the minimum standard for gaming, 30fps, can I change the processor in this laptop model and, if so, what processors are the best for gaming that are compatible with this laptop? This laptops processor right now is the Intel(R) Pentium(R).

Well what you have is the: Microprocessor2.58 GHz Intel Pentium N3530 with Intel HD Graphics That is a "Bay Trail" processor which is not a bad thing in and of itself but those processors are designed to be low cost and use little electricity. They are fine for web browsing, email, even youtubes and other video but not for games. And they are soldered right onto the motherboard so there is no upgrade possible.  Your laptop is just not designed to play serious games and is also designed to be inexpensive and "green", and is a basically closed system with very little upgrade possibility. The Bay Trails are actually pretty amazing for how much computing power can be achieved with just a small amount of electricity but they do lag behind the Intel Core models a bit. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Pentium-N3530-vs-Intel-Core-i3-4030U If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

  • Can I upgrade my laptop processor?

Pretty much what the title says. My processor at current time is having trouble with some games. I want a better one, and I think it's upgradeable. But I have no idea what it can be replaced with, how I ask to replace it, and all that stuff. I know nothing, basically. So, educate me, please. I want a processor that is around 2.4 or 2.5 GHz, and my current one is a 1.3 Hz. The processor is an AMD E-300 APU with Radeon HD Graphics
Also, I guess the graphics card could be nice to have replaced too, but I've heard it's nearly impossible to do with a laptop. If someone could either confirm this, or tell me how to upgrade it as well, I will appreciate it.
My laptop is a Satellite Pro C670 Series
Side note: Also, my Print screen key never works on this thing. Any advice there will be nice. I just use the snip tool, which is laborious and inconvenient.

Unfortunately, it is not able to be upgraded.  The AMD E-300 is hard soldered to the motherboard.  The only way to upgrade is to swap in an Intel motherboard, as that has a socket for it's CPU.  The graphics are integrated, so there is no graphics card to replace on your model.
I just finished fixing a C655D for a friend of mine that also has the AMD E-300 hard soldered to the motherboard.  They were complaining about it being slow as well(even before they got a virus on it).  I went through and turned off processes that start with windows, and uninstalled any bloatware.  It runs better now, but I still don't think it would be able to handle newer games.
As for print screen, press "FN"+"PRTSC".  Then open up a word document, paint, etc, and select "paste"

Hi,please suggest me some games for Compaq CQ62-105TU Laptop. Can I upgrade my laptop's graphics card

Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade the processor or graphics card on this laptop.
Here is a page from CPU-World that gives the specs for your processor:
    http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bobcat/AMD-E%20Series%20E2-1800.html
You will see down near the bottom of the page that it is not upgradeable. Some laptops come with the processor soldered to the motherboard. Almost all laptop graphics are this way. The only way that you would be able to get a faster processor/better graphics for this laptop would be to purchase a brand new motherboard. You can do an Ebay search for 'HP G6 motherboard' to see what average prices are if you want to go this route.

  • I want to upgrade my laptop ?

    I want to upgrade my laptop 3000 C200 ( processor , Vega , cash memory )

    Hi Phil:
    Specifications
The top processor compatible is Intel Core i5-480M processor (2.66 GHz, SC turbo up to 2.93 GHz, 3 MB L3), Dual 35 W for your system board & chipset. For upgarding to the top 2nd generation processor - you have to get a new board as listed in the Manual : this may not be wise to do cost-wise. You may better buy a brand new laptop with better specs.
The 1GB dedicated AMD graphics is the best your model series can have.

    Hi
Such similar questions have been posted in the past. If you would use the forums advanced search option, you will get lot of threads about this theme.
First of all you have to know that notebook manufacturers (no matter what manufacturer) dont support CPU upgrades officially.
In case you would like to upgrade the CPU, you can do it at your own risk.
Secondly you should check the chipset which is used in the notebook.
I guess this unit supports an Intel HM55 chipset.
I found info about CPUs which are supported by HM55 chipset (click on compatible products)
    http://ark.intel.com/products/43183/Intel-BD82HM55-PCH
But even if you would choose one of the mentioned and supported CPUs, the BIOS might not support it because the BIOS was designed and modified for the L500 and not tested with other hardware parts.

  • Laptop Processors...

    Laptop Processors :
The microprocessor, or CPU, works with the operating system to control the computer. It essentially acts as the computer's brain. The CPU produces a lot of heat, so a desktop computer uses circulating air, a fan and a heat sink -- a system of plates, channels and radiator fins used to draw heat off of the processor to cool off. Since a laptop has far less room for each of these cooling methods, its CPU usually:
        * Runs at a lower voltage and clock speed -- This reduces heat output and power consumption but slows the processor down. Most laptops also run at a higher voltage and clock speed when plugged in, and at lower settings when using the battery.
        * Mounts to the motherboard without using pins -- Pins and sockets take up a lot of room in desktop PCs. Some motherboard processors mount directly to the motherboard without the use of a socket. Others use a Micro-FCBGA (Flip Chip Ball Grid Array), which uses balls instead of pins. These designs save space, but in some cases mean that the processor cannot be removed from the motherboard for replacement or upgrading.
        * Has a sleep or slow-down mode -- The computer and the operating system work together to reduce the CPU speed when the computer is not in use or when the processor does not need to run as quickly. The Apple G4 processor also prioritizes data to minimize battery drain.
Some laptops use desktop CPUs that are set to run at lower clock speeds. Although this can improve performance, these laptops typically run much hotter and have a significantly reduced battery life.
Laptops usually have small fans, heat sinks, heat spreaders or heat pipes to help dissipate the heat from the CPU. Some higher end laptop models reduce heat even further with liquid coolant kept in channels alongside the heat pipe. Also, most laptop CPUs are near the edge of the unit. This allows the fan to move the heat directly to the outside instead of across other components....

That was some useful knowledge Laptop123, appreciate your sharing.

  • Hello,  I have  upgraded my laptop to lion,  from Snow Leopard,  but now my Music Pad Pro,  program will not work ,   can anyone help?  Thank you.

Hello,  I upgraded my laptop from Snow Leopard to lion,  unfortunately I have a  2 music programs that no longer work.  one is called the Music PadPro,   which is now gone bankrupt,  can anyone help?.   I was talking to the Apple Store earlier and they said if I upgrade to the mountain lion it may help but I'm not so sure,
    kind regards
    Nigel

There's no reason that upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion would make this application work.  I've looked up Music PadPro.  I don't know much about it, but it looks pretty old.  Here are the requirements:
Macintosh G4 or higher processor running Mac OS X Version 10.2.6 (minimum),
Mac OS X Version 10.3.2 (recommended), or Mac OS X Version 10.4.2.
Looking at that, I would guess that the application would require a PowerPC processor.  After the release of the Intel machines back in 2006, Apple included something called Rosetta within OS X.  This allowed programs developed for the older architecture (PowerPC) to run on the newer Intel machines.  The reason for this was to give developers some time to upgrade their applications to run natively on Intel processors.  It was only with the introduction of Lion that Apple pulled Rosetta from their OS.  They had basically given developers about five years to upgrade their applications.  Unfortunately, in your case, the developer went belly up.  You can always install an older version of the OS on either a separate partition or an external drive and you can run your program from there.

  • Can I upgrade my Laptop's Hardware?

Hello, I would like to ask, if I can upgrade my laptop's HDD and RAM.
    I got a HP dv6-1107ax, with Seagate ST9320320AS ATA Device, and 4.0GB DDR2 @ 400MHz (6-6-6-18). The motherboard is Quanta 3061 (Socket M2/S1G1).
Here's some of my suggested upgrades, for my HDD its the Seagate Momentus® 2.5–Inch Laptop Hard Drive Internal Kit – 7200 RPM, and for the RAM its 4GB DDR2 @ 800MHz.
Please tell me if this is compatible with my Laptop, or suggest your own.
    Thank You

What is the complete product name or product number of your notebook? You left off the first section of the product name.
Lets start with you helping us by identifying your notebook completely.
HP has produced and brought to market more than a thousand different models of notebooks and desktop PCs over the years. It is difficult to help you if we don't know which specific model you own..
Method #1: If the notebook will boot into Windows, you can retrieve your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key.
    Method #2:
Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a Service tag with printed part number and a product name. Please post the p/n (with all alphanumeric characters) here. If you live outside of North America, it helps us if you post the country of purchase. Also post the installed CPU type. (AMD or Intel)
Don't forget to post the name of the installed operating system if you haven't already done that.

  • I have recently upgraded my laptop from Vista to Windows 7. All my music is on a windows file, how do I move it to i tunes library

I have recently upgraded my laptop operating system from Vista to Windows 7. i tunes is asking me to sync my i pod, because it is recognising the Vista laptop and not the Windows 7. All my music has gone from i tunes library but it is all stored in Windows music folder(s). How can I move it all to my i tunes library?

So your iTunes library is now empty after the upgrade?
Simply drag the one folder (containing all of your music) into your new empty iTunes library or choose File -> Add to Library in iTunes.
Otherwise, if they aren't all in one folder, you'll have to drag each seperate one into iTunes.

Recently upgraded Mac OS to 10.5.5 - have an older G4 which is max'd out upgrade-wise - both processor and OS. At present Safari is 3.1.2. Itunes is 9.2.1. Itunes will not allow me to connect to store - says it requires Safari 4.0.3 - however, when I try to download Safari 4.0.3 or newer it says it requires an older version of the OS. What to do?

    Update v10.5.5 to v10.5.8
Download and install the  combo >  Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update
    Then restart your Mac.
That should update Safari for you to 5.0.6 and that should help with iTunes.
If necessary, after updating to v10.5.8, you can use the standalone Safari installer here >  Safari 5.0.6 for Leopard

  • Macbook air: should i upgrade Ram or Processor?

Looking at getting a macbook air 13 inch 256gb ssd. I am able to upgrade either the processor from an I5 to an I7 or the Ram from 4gb to 8gb.  I dont know which one to upgrade. I can only do one. This will be used for school, music, and games like Simcity. What do you think?

lol, Im gonna go against what John said, and recommend you to go with the processor upgrade.
RAM is something you will ONLY notice when it fills up, and most applications on a Mac, including most most games, do not ever use more than 4GB RAM, and since the new Macs will have 1600mhz ram you will get a higher memory bandwith as well, making the size of the RAM even less important.
For most people the only time they will notice the difference between 4 and 8 gb ram is during video editing.
on the other hand, the 2.0ghz i7 will be approximately 27% faster than the i5, you also get 1 more mb of l3 cache. You will notice this much mor often than you will notice the RAM upgrade.
    but, that's just me.

I've downloaded Photoshop CC 2014 on my desktop computer. But its telling me that its a 30 day trial. I already pay monthly for Creative Cloud CC. Btw, earlier this evening I upgraded my laptop to CC 2014. Is that the problem? I thought we could have the program on two different computers, as long as they're the same user and not being used at the same time.
