Upgrading N586 CPU to A10-4600m

I have heard of many people upgrading their AMD A6-4400m to the more powerful A10-4600m as they are the same socket (FS1r2) with great success. I was planning to do the same and wondering if its possible to switch them out on a lenovo laptop and if the drivers are available if I succeed in changing it.
Anyone happen to have any experience with this that can provide some input?

Go back to the old A6 APU. The upgrade should have worked. Assuming no ESD occurred, the new APU should have worked. I upgraded to the A10-4600m with no problem. Technically, the N series IdeaPad should be upgradeable to the A10-5750m (which is rated higher performance on the passmark mid-high range chart than the A10-5757m.) My guess is that you got a bum APU.
BTW - A10-4600m APU's are currently trending @ $30.00 on eBay

But i don't shure will new cpu working in my notebook? I asked this question in ADM support, they said what both CPU is compatible, but need software support in bios of specific models of notebooks. I can't ask this question in HP support because free support time of my model is ended. Please prompt - BIOS of my notebook will support a new CPU?

All of what you wrote - I understand that. But understand and you - the replacement of the processor is required because performance lacking. For a new book i haven't  money. You are employee of HP and really can help asking the question to someone of your colleagues who will know exactly whether to run the new AMD processors in my notebook. All my notebooks have been made HP I always helped the company - buying its products, help you and me now. I'm not asking for much - just a concrete answer - will work or not?
No!! That is where you are wrong. I am not an HP employee.
Very few of us here in the forums are HP Employees. Those that are, with very few exceptions, are here volunteering their own time to help owners of HP products. This is a peer to peer forum where owners of HP products share their time and expertise helping others who need help. We are here to help. We are helping  as volunteers.
There is no concrete answer on this. Sometimes an upgrade to an unsupported CPU will work, but most often it will fail.  Read my previous posts. The risk of whatever currency you use in your country to purchase the new CPU is yours, not mine nor HP's.
Here is a solid answer for you...Use a CPU that is in the list in the Maintenence & Service Guide and your upgrade success chance will go up dramatically.  I cannot say your upgrade success will be guaranteed because there is always the chance that you may break something during assembly/disassembly or be unaware of a critical assembly/disassembly procedure and inadvertently destroy your new CPU.
If you want a high performance CPU and chipset in a laptop then choose well when making a laptop purchase. Laptop/notebooks are actually not meant to be upgraded.

  • Memory Upgrade on Satellite Pro A10

Can anyone advise me as to the correct RAM type to upgrade my Satellite Pro A10. Its a standard 256mB at the minute and I'm thinking of slotting in an additional 512mB next to it - but am bemused by the array of memory types and nomenclatures - DDR - SODIMM etc !!!
Handy with the screw drivers but not so hot with the acronyms. Many thanks to you all out there who know the score!

    Hi
I understand you very well and sometimes Im also a little bit confused because of the whole notations in the computer world.
The Sat Pro A10 supports 200-Pin PC2700 (333Mhz) DDR SODIMM modules and you can upgrade the memory on this notebook up to 1024MB (2 x 512MB)
You could check this memory module page:

i want to upgrade my cpu from a core 2 duo e6750 to a core to quad q6600 and i want a new gpu ineed to be able to run 2 monitors and be able to run most games and design programs but i have heard its hard as my psu is only 240 watts so can someone please help me i will buy used ones if i have to but i need to know names of them as i have 5 dc7800 to upgrade ?
    thanks

    Hi,
The DC7800 SFF was not designed to run modern games.  Modern games for most situations would require a graphics card and a supporting power supply of 400-600 watts which is not available for your PC.  Another factor is the dimm speed in your PC which is inherently slow for video processing.

  • Upgrading the CPU in my HP Pavilion dv6-6b08sa Notebook PC

    Hey there,
I am looking to upgrade my seemingly weak CPU so that my laptops performance may be noticeably improved, for things such as gaming. I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6b08sa Notebook PC, running a Windows 7 64-bit Operating System.
    This is my current CPU:
    Quad-Core AMD A6-3410MX APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 1600 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
If you require any more information about my laptop in order to help me, please ask and I will be happy to provide.
Please note that I do not want to have to upgrade any other components of my laptop, such as the motherboard, in case the CPU requires stronger/more powerful support, as money is a limitation. The cheaper the better, as long as the performance will be improved noticeably. Thank you.

    Hello TooQuix,
I understand you want to upgrade your CPU is the correct? I will try and provide you the information that you need.
This document will provide you a list of processors available for this unit. Now because you have AMD installed originally, and you're using the same motherboard you will have to continue to use AMD.
If you turn to page 85 there is a list of processors, the part numbers are there as well to help your search. Also, if you plan on doing the work on your own the instructions on how to replace the processor is shown there as well.
    I hope this helps.
If I have been helpful or if you'd like to say thank you for me trying to help, click the white star under my name to give me Kudos. I really appreciate it.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Equium M40X-189: I want to upgrade the CPU?

    Hi,
i have Equium m40x-189 notebook with Intel Pentium M 730 processor(1.6/2M/533). I want to upgrade my CPU with Intel Pentium M780 processor(2.26/2M/533). Is it possible?

    Hi
Please dont be mad on me but I think that forum is not the right place to pick up this kind of information. CPU exchange is very sensible area and I think you should contact service or some independent hardware upgrade store.
Basically CPU upgrade is not possible because of so-called permanent connection method. I dont want to say it is definitely not possible but CPU upgrade can but for result it can have some negative aspects like higher power consumption and much shorter running time with battery power supply, cooling will not be as before and I am afraid that cooling vent will run constantly.
What to say about performance. I believe you will not see much more difference because CPU on this unit is good enough and better, cheaper and without risk solution, is to upgrade RAM to maximum.

Purchasing with the upgrades through Apple would add about $800 over the Black Friday deal at Best Buy.  Just looking for some advice if I will be satisfied with the based model.

All models will do what you want. Upgraded models will do it faster than the standard models.
Just why are you thinking of switching to a Mac?

  • Upgrading K300 CPU

I'm trying to find any kind of motherboard information on upgrading the CPU to a quad core, but have run into some bad luck in trying to find the board specs on "how far" I can make an upgrade.
What I have found so far is the board number 11010918. I think the CPU matches with a socket 775 but not certain.
Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

the cost of getting a 775 quad and getting a new mobo and cpu is about £50 which would bring the rig right upto date, if it was me i would be looking into this rather than buying an out dated socket cpu

  • Is it possible to upgrade the CPU on an MSI GX-730 laptop?

Hi.  I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to upgrade the CPU on an MSI GX-730 Laptop with an X2 Turion CPU currently in it?  And if it's possible, what other CPUs are compatable?  I was hoping to put in a Phenom mobile processor, but I am not sure if one would work in it.  Thanks.

The short answer is no, you cannot upgrade it.
The long answer is you might be able to upgrade it to a slightly better Turion, but I'm not really sure it will provide any benefit.

I have an K8N Neo4 platinum motherboard and I wish to upgrade my CPU and Graphics. Presently I have an Athlon64 3500+ processor and an Radeon X800 Graphics card. Any advice on what can work with my motherboard to improve speed and quality?

    Thanks
You've sussed I've got problems as a beginner even on using this forum. EG I've tried to put in my computer stats but not sure they are in.
I've read that my mainboard can as a socket 939 use the dual- Core processor X2 and up to FX 60. However according to sisandra my board is not supporting dual core. Which is right?
    Thanks
    Nope, that's false info.
Look here for supported CPU for your mainboard:
