Upgrading N80 is a nightmare! How do I now backup ...

Hi, basically i've been trying to upgrade my N80 for the past 2 days and it's not an happy ending story! First, the N80 would not backup to my memory card (2GB). Googled few sites, then I gave up and backed up using PCsuite. Then, I started the upgrade using Nokia software Updater. Needless to say that the updater as well was not reliable... Anyway, after 4 attempts and 2 installations on my computer the phone was finally upgraded to the new firmware... After the upgrade I tried to put back my backup but if failed miserably! The backup seemed to fail when installing some application. So, i went and installed all the application manually. After that, i tried to push again my backup to the phone withouht luck. Fortunately, I was able to put back contacts and calendar entries using the synch. However, I lost several applications (VPN, my Mailbox in messages, Python, and other application which i didn't not down). Now my question is: How can I put back my backup to my phone? And why the backup manager found so many error and failed to put back all the software i installed? Thanks in advance for any answer.

Use PC Suite only for Contacts backup. Full backup/restore (including SD) and Phone Memory backup right only for the SAME firmware. Before firmware update backup contacts to PC, then format SD and remove it, then reset (not obligatory) phone to factory settings. Charge battery full.
Clean Windows (antivirus, check errors, defrag etc.).
Use UPS for desktop (notebook - is the best choice).
Clean Phone and Cable terminals from dust and oxides (rubber is good .
Run NSU (if at home and not afraid , connect phone. wait finishing update (some phases may be very long, and some time it may seems that phone hang or died - don't touch it, wait and be patient .
After finishing and first turning ON insert SD, connect to PC Suite, restore contact (don't forget temporary change direction Contacts Update - if need . Reinstall sortware (Opera, ProfiMail or other). Enjoy.
This is the only reliable method
