Upgrading or downgrading?

When I bought my computer, it came with iMovie '08. I really hate iMovie '08. Is there anything I can do _for free_ along the lines of downgrading to '06 or upgrading to '09?
I'm just a poor college student who wants to make movies.

Is there anything I can do for free along the lines of downgrading to '06 or upgrading to '09?
No. Apple removed the version of iMovie 06 which would install on a computer running iLife 08, and upgrading requires the purchase of iLife 09.

I have no idea why this has happend ive been using the phone for 2years bought it on pay as you go and now all of a sudden its stating the above error i have never come across this problem before and currently im using 3GS and Iphone 4S

    Sounds like it's been blacklisted.
Even if it hasn't, downgrading voids any warranty and forfeits all rights to support. You hacked your phone. You can't get help here.

  • Upgrading and Downgrading my Broadband....Help Nee...

    Hi,
I am currently on Option 1, and keep going over my limit and getting charge per GB. However, when I ask to upgrade to Option 2 or 3 I am told that I am automatically tied into another 12 months contract, is this right? Each sales person you speak to give you conflicting information.
One guy told me that I would not tied in, only a minimum 3 months would apply?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

That's correct upgrade or downgrade, you start a new contract.
I tried to get out of this so I emailed Ian Livingstone, no luck I was phoned from Newcastle and they confirmed this, that was 7 Months ago. Could have changed though!! but don't hold your breath.

  • Sony! upgrade or downgrade?

A lot of problem appear after i upgrade my xperia neo v. Game lag which i could play smooth with 2.3.4. led notification malfunction. wifi reception weak like hell. battery 20% to 0%. i am not sure izit an upgrade or downgrade. dissapointed to sony! I have been long time loyalty to Sony brand. I believe in you all. But now? Dont think so! Solve the PROBLEM! And stop tell me go to the router change the security or whatever. do i really need to ask the boss in starbuck or the head in college to change their wifi security setting just for MY NEO V CANT CONNECT THE WIFI? Damn ridiculous! Solve it! -Malaysia

What you can do is to try to reinstall the phone software using SUS.

But if the Wi-Fi problem remains I suggest that you have the phone examined at an repair center.

  • Recently upgraded, considering downgrading...anyone else having these issues?

    Hi all,
So within the last month, before (and unfortunately, RIGHT before) my 3-year Apple Care expried, I belatedly made the decision to upgrade the RAM of my 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo refurb'd MacBook Pro to its 8GB max, in prep for upgrading to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard (I was told by AppleCare that I could make such a jump no problem).
Frankly, as a whole since then, I have  NOT been entirely pleased:
    1) While the notification system is convenient, I have yet to see the point/purpose of any of the new programs.
    2) I REALLY dislike the new inconveniently disappearing/reappearing "scroll bar" that used to be on the right-hand side of all my web browser/word processing windows, which essentially forces me to search for it and/or use the "Down" arrow to scan through something, as opposed to just autmoatically being able to drag down to the bottom/halfway/etc mark, as I could before.
    3) Finder's left-hand window--of my Favorites, and most importantly, connected Devices-- is almost as bad to navigate. Now, I seem to have to resize the whole window to find a flash drive I've just put in-- or, the Server icon at my job every morning-- wheras before, it seemed that they all just showed up automatically in Snow Leopard.
    4) I also dislike how I can no longer automatically tell-- in any given Finder window-- exactly how much space is left on my Hard Drive or any External/Flash Drives, and instead have to "Get Info."
    5) With the hidden boot partition-- and fortunately, I backed mine up to an external flash drive as well-- I can no longer be certain that I'm backing up my drive properly: the program I had been using, Carbon Copy Cloner (I've never been a fan of Time Machine, which from my admittedly limited experience is too simple and not that customizable) not only now costs money, but now gives me a variety of error messages... leaving me essentially looking for a new-- preferrably freeware-- backup program (suggestions?)
    6) Perhaps most worrisome, I've noticed now that my computer is running louder, the drive acting faster, and getting hotter than it EVER did before (which you can understand is a major concern, in light of the backups issue). At least once, I've had to Force Quit Finder after the "Spinning Wheel" and NOT had it restart automatically, on another occasion, it wouldn't let me Restart my computer.
The 2nd party store that installed my new RAM casually recommended I invest in an internal Solid State Drive beforehand, but now, it seems almost like a requirement! And while I understand that switching out your old drive is ultimately probably a good investment to prolong the life of my MBP, when you consider that I only paid some $20 to upgrade to Mountain Lion and now have to potentially look at paying another $200 for a fast SSD that I didn't need before to keep my whole system up to speed, you can see how maybe I'm not getting the better end of the deal.
That said, I am strongly considering downgrading BACK to Snow Leopard... after all, I mainly use my computer for web-browsing, word processing, watching/ripping/burning CDs and DVDs, and some Avid/FCP work... and it seemed to do all of that OK on Snow Leopard.
Still, I'm already really concerned over how easily I can do that now... sure, I still have the original Snow Leopard Install DVD, sure, I've been backing up my drive with all the User content/files/text documents/photos/music/Mountain Lion programs/etc, but there's no guarantee that the programs I got (some of which friends installed) will still work afterwards... added to the fact that I'll probably now have to pay the Genius Bar guys/a 3rd party company to safely do the downgrade for me.
So: I am being hypersensitive? Am I the only one here who's noticed their MBP hard drive running faster after upgrading to Mountain Lion? Should I not be concerned, or not upgrade my HD? Is there ANY way to customize/deal with the browser/scroll bar/Finder issue complaints I mentioned?
    Please HELP!!

Upgrading from SL to Mt. Lion takes some getting accustomed to, but
some of your problems could be solved by configuring the preferences in the Finder,
for example:  Look at the list of changes from SL to Mt. Lion compiled by Pondini:
    OSX Tips Mountain Lion Changes
OSX Tips Some Changes in Lion
    2) I REALLY dislike the new inconveniently disappearing/reappearing "scroll bar"
Turn them on again permanently, only you will not get the arrows back, (System Preferences > Scrollbars > Always)
Now, I seem to have to resize the whole window to find a flash drive I've just put in-- or, the Server icon at my job every morning-- wheras before, it seemed that they all just showed up automatically in Snow Leopard.
You can collaps sections of the sidebar by toggling the "show/hide" button to the right of the caption, or option/drag the "Devices" brick of the sidebar to the top of the list.
    4) I also dislike how I can no longer automatically tell-- in any given Finder window-- exactly how much space is left on my Hard Drive or any External/Flash Drives, and instead have to "Get Info."
Finder's main menu bar > View > Show Status Bar
Pondini's summaries will give you plenty of hints on how to tame the lions and to break them in to suit your needs.

  • 11.2.0.3 upgrade, then downgrade to 10.2.0.4 (ORA-31134 XDB.XDB_RV_TRIG)

In preparation for an actual DB upgrade (on AIX 6.1, DB size= 2TB) from 10.2.0.4.3 to 11.2.0.3, we did an 'upgrade dry-run' on a cloned DB & tried to confirm that we can 'Downgrade' back to 10.2.0.4.3 (if required during real upgrade). The 'compatible' param was left at 10.2.0.4 (never changed).
While running the Oracle script "catdwgrd.sql" (in the 11.2.0.3 OH), the following 'XDB' related error occurred within the first 10 minutes and we cannot find Metalink or general internet references about it (the script continued running).
Please see the excerpt of the downgrade script log file as follows:
    View dropped.
    Synonym dropped.

  • Oracle patch upgrade after downgrade

We patched Oracle from 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3 successfully. Third party app had issue and blamed it on the patch, so I downgraded back to 11.2.0.2 successfully.
Turns out the problem was not with Oracle, and I want to get back to 11.2.0.3.
For the downgrade, I did (just listing the major steps)
    startup downgrade
    drop sysman
    @catdwgrd
    Point ORACLE_HOME / oratab / oraInst to the old, renamed ORACLE_HOME (11.2.0.2)
    attachHome
    apply patch 11811073 (new catrelod.sql)
    Startup upgrade
    @catrelod
bounce DB and @utlrep, and everything looks peachy on 11.2.0.2.
My question now is - what is the most painless way to get back to 11.2.0.3 ?
Can I just re-point to the new ORACLE_HOME and run a catupgrd / catrelod out of the 11.2.0.3 dirs ?

  • Upgrading and downgrading between Creative Cloud and Photoshop Photography Program

I am interested in subscribing to the Photoshop Photography Program, but occasionally need to use Premiere and After Effects - is it possible to "upgrade" from the Photoshop Photography Program to the full Creative Cloud (on a per month basis, as needed), and then "downgrade" back to the Photography Program afterwards? Or would separate accounts be necessary to achieve this?

    Hi BernardB,
You may switch the plans according to the requirements.

  • Upgrading is downgrading apparently...

I recently switched my house over to the Double Play bundle, which supposedly offered us additional phone services while actually increasing our internet speed ceiling.
Before the "upgrade" my house was recieving 3-5mbps under the "Internet Extra" option which we upgraded to after the sub 3mbps internet was not enough.
Under the plan I ordered and have a copy of, our house qualified for the new "Internet Enhanced" plan of 3-7mbps for slightly less every month if i combined our phone/internet into the Double Play Bundle.
Instead of recieving this, our house was instead downgraded to 1.1-3.0mbps with no option to improve said speed to our previous levels which we had enjoyed for quite some time.  The only reason we upgraded was because it appeared to be 50 cents less a month for the same or better internet service and some nifty phone features that we will not likely use.  Instead we got shafted.
Change in Service and Partial Month
    12/27
    12/31
    High Speed Internet Enhanced (added)
    4.67
    12/28
    12/31
    Internet Enhanced Bundle Discount (added)
    -.50
    12/27
    12/31
    Internet Extra (removed)
    -4.67
Change in Service and Partial Month Subtotal
    -$.50

Sorry to hear about the internet slowdown. I have sent you a private message to get more information on the account.

I Request all Techies and Engineers to please answer my Questions ASAP.

It can be made into a nice system, powerful and stable.  But to do so takes an unprecedented amount of effort.  To make Win 8.1 as powerful as a well-tuned Win 7 is doable, with a fair bit of configuration and 3rd party software.
I didn't care for Windows 8 at first either, but right now, after all the latest updates and quite a lot of tuning I feel it's the most powerful and most stable system I've run at my company.  I just finished a 14 hour work day developing
software, collaborating online, running heavy applications like Photoshop (we do graphics software development), doing research, and my system just sailed through it all with not even the slightest hiccup.
Windows 8.1 is finally mature and can (just barely) be coerced into being a damned nice desktop system.

  • Upgrade then downgrade

Anyone know if you can downgrade a plan after upgrading?  We recently put my husband on our family plan and are in danger of going over our minutes (because of his work).  He's getting a work phone shortly but still needs to use this phone until he does.  Can we upgrade to cover the minutes until he gets his new phone and then bump it back down to the cheaper plan once he does?

Never mind - should have read posts before I posted.
No worries, though there would probably be a lot less activity on the boards if more people actually searched before posting!  The same questions do tend to come up over, and over, and over, and over . . . . glad you found your answer, that you can adjust your minutes up or down anytime you want, but make sure to backdate if you are going UP in minutes orforward date to the next billing cycle if you are going DOWN in minutes; you'll be much happier with bill and it will be easier to understand....

  • Raidsonic NAS IB-4210-B is not accessible after Lion upgrade. Downgrade to Snow Leopard?

Hi, I'm in the same trouble as lots of others after upgrading to Liion. I have one Buffalo Terastation Life (works obviously fine 'til now) and two Raidsonic ICY-Box IB-4210-B I can see the shared folders but didn't manage to get access to them.
Any ideas others than downgrading to Snow Leopard?

  • Wallstreet won't Upgrade or Downgrade

I am running OS 10.1.5 on a Wallstreet with 384 MB of ram. I have been unable to upgrade to 10.2 because when I try to install it after a while the install stops and the screen becomes full of stripes. I have been told to go back to OS 9 to do the upgrade but that (and OS 8) was erased during one of my many upgrade attempts during the past year. I have tried booting from both the OS 8 and OS 9 CD's but they doesn't work. The computer keeps opening in 10.1! So now I am stuck at OS 10.1.5..I can't upgrade to 10.2 or downgrade to classic! Any advice?

    Angela,
a brody is a stickler for factory specs and that's fine, but I disagree with him on several points. I don't know which "gray" 10.2 CD you have, but OWC sells the eMac 10.2 DVD and says this:
"Although these OS X discs are labeled for a specific Apple model, the OS X install is complete and fully universal. No different than the OS X installation provided by a retail box disc."
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/6914337A/
I would not hesitate to buy one of their CDs or DVDs if they list it as supported on my computer. They are an excellent company and do not make frivolous claims. Unfortunately, the eMac disk is a DVD, not CD.
And yes, XPostFacto is a hack, but that does not mean it is not a good utility. I am sure there are many thousands of Wallstreet and Lombard users running unsupported versions of OSX and are quite happy with getting these old 'books to run current software and that includes me.
You may wish to try this:
    1. Download XPostFacto here:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto/
    2. Install XPostFacto onto your HD that apparently contains only OS 9.1.
    3. Launch XPostFacto and just follow the instructions:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto/Framework.cfm?page=XPostFacto3.ht ml#enough
Even though XPostFacto is not required for the installation of 10.2, give it a try. Many who have had trouble installing 10.2 on the Wallstreet have had success with this approach.
Assuming you do not have a hardware problem (marginal RAM or CPU or Video RAM, etc.), this may be helpful. I believe once you use XPostFacto to install OSX, you must use XPostFacto's startup disk control panel to switch between 9.1 and 10.2; at least on my Wallstreet, the 9.x and 10.x startup disk control panels cause a freeze.
