Upgrading Oracle Patch Set
Hello All,
I am in the process of upgrading the Oracle Patch set from 9.2.0.6 to 9.2.0.8.
Can anyone let me know what are the Pre and post installation steps that needs to taken care of.
Thanks
As Anurag has already mentioned that with every patch set there is a readme file which contains all pre and post installation steps in detail. Please read each word of it and you done if you follow as it is. In case you found any error/issue you can paste the steps which you have done; so that we can found where was the error / mis-steped.

Applying oracle patch set for Oracle 10.2.0.4
Hi All,
I need some clarification on below suggestions from SAP,
<div class="jive-quote">there is also no optimizer mergefix installed in the database. This can lead to big performance problems due to wrong Oracle Cost Based Optimizer decisions. SAP therefore requires the installation of so called SAP Bundle Patches. Please refer to
SAP note #1137346 - Oracle 10.2.0: Patches/patch collections for Oracle 10.2.
It is mandatory to install the most current available SBP in SAP environments.</div>
I have Oracle 10.2.0.4 and AIX 6.1 for my all SAP systems, please guide me what exact steps I have to follow, as this note contains information about the relased oracle patch set but doesnt have information about how to apply.
I never applied any oracle patch set before and very new to all this, so your solution will help me a lot in this task.

Hi,
We have oracle 10.1 ,10.2 in some systems and we need to update oracle patch set
could anyone help me whether if I want to change oracle 10.1 to 10.2 will come under upgrade or updating patch set?
if yes what is the procedure about how to update patch in Oracle?Hi,
to go from 10.1 to 10.2 you need to upgrade your database, a patch set will not do it.
Please check the upgrade documentation in the SAP Marketplace:
http://service.sap.com/instguides.
Other thing would be that you want to go from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.2
In this case, you only need to apply the patch set relevant for your Operating system. In this case, follow the note mentioned by Kaushal -
How to download oracle patch set 10.2.0.5 for Windows server 2008 R2
I need download and install oracle patch set 10.2.0.5 and install for Windows server 2008 R2 (notes 1486772).
But I get message "Download basket request for update has been processed. Unable to add 1 new object(s). The objects are already part of Export and to be processed."
Help me, please!Hi,
Have you looked at this location https://service.sap.com/oracle-download ?
Refer SAP Note 871735 - Current patch set for Oracle 10.2.0 -> Oracle patch set 10.2.0.5
Once you add the Patchset 10.2.0.5 in download basket, you will find the same in Export tab of Download Basket. You will have to get the approval from SAP Export department by raising OSS message with XX-SER-SWFL-EXPORT component. After getting approval for the same from SAP Export dept., then & then only you will able to download it.

Distinction among terms: Oracle Patch Set, Oracle Patch Bundle, ecc
Hi to all,
a customer asked me to update an Oracle database 10.1.3.0 on Windows 32 platform. THe only patches installed are **5556081** and *5557962*..
I looked for new updated patches and I founded some Oracle Recommended Patches ID 756671.1 and Oracle Patch Bundles ID 1207176.1 for 10.2.3.0.
Honestly I don't know how to proceed in the sense that i don't know if it is better to apply these bundle patches or to go directly to Oracle Patch Set 10.2.4.0 or 10.2.5.0 for a better update.
What is the difference between Oracle Patch Bundle and Oracle Patch Set?? and the difference between Oracle patch Set and Oracle Patch Set Update???
Any help will be well appreciated..I need to do this update asap
Thanks in advance

Pl clarify what you mean by "10.1.3.0", "10.2.3.0", "10.2.4.0" and "10.2.5.0" - there a no such Oracle versions
I believe you mean 10.1.0.3, 10.2.0.3, 10.2.0.4 and 10.2.0.5
If so, all of the above are patch sets on top of the base release (10.1 or 10.2). It is always recommended to update to the latest patch set release.
Pl note that both 10.1 and 10.2 are de-supported - you should be using the latest 11gR2 version.
Patch set updates (PSU) are additional bundled fixes on top of patch sets - see this MOS Doc

Oracle Patch set 10.2.0.4 for HP-UX PA-RISK
Dear all,
Can anyone please tell me the path to download the Oracle Patch ser 10.2.0.4 for HP-UX PA_RISK?
I need to upgrade our DB level - currently Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
For upgrade to Oracle 11g I need to be on minimum 10.2.0.4. I tried to find the patchset files on :
Software downloads ->Database patches -> Oracle ->Oracle 64-bit ->Oracle 10.2.0. 64-bit Here I can't find 10.2.0.4
On the other path Software downloads ->Database patches -> Oracle ->Oracle 10.2.0.4 -> Database RDBMS ->HP-UX PA-RISC (64-bit) I can't find the patch set only bundle patch 10.2.0.4.6
Please help.
Thanks in advance.
BR,
Ruzica> First we will do SAP systems merge and when there will be only one DB instance we'll do Oracle upgrade to 11g
And why do you think a merge of application data is dependent on the Oracle patchlevel? I mean those patchlevel are on a technical level, even if you'd use SQL on the lower level it works you don't merge "binaries" but database content, right?
http://service.sap.com/swcenter-3pmain
--> Oracle
--> Oracle 10.2.0.4
--> Database RDBMS
--> HP-UX PA-RISC (64-bit)
There you can download the patchset.
BTW: this is also mentioned in "1137346 - Oracle 10.2.0: Patches/patch collections for Oracle 10.2.0.4" )

Hi Markus and ALL,
My Production Server consists on DB(Central instance) and APP(Dialog instance) servers on different machine. I have patched 10.2.0.2 on DB Server. i faced error (OCL.DLL file is using another person) during patching and tell me it is compulsory to patched on APP servers if yes then what are the Prerequisites for patching on Application Server.
regards,
majamilThe Patch comes with a README file, read it and follow it. It´s not enough to "just install" the patch, you need to run some SQL scripts after the patch was installed.

Problem downloading Patch Set Oracle 10.2.0.5 from SAP Service Market Place
As mentioned in SAP Note 871735:
Oracle patch set 10.2.0.5
To navigate to the DVD download:
1. On the right-hand side under 'Software Download', select the relevant
software variant:
- Oracle 10.2 software (64-bit)
- Oracle 10.2 software (32-bit)
2. Choose 'Installation'.
3. Select your platform.
4. Choose 'Oracle'.
5. Select the relevant ORACLE RDBMS DVDs.
6. Add the DVD to the 'Download Basket'.
However, when I click on the "Oracle 10.2 software (64-bit)", the right-hand side of the page goes blank and just says Oracle on top? In the search, I also can't find the 51040057_4.
Is it due to the SAP Service Marketplace account restrictions or what?
We have our SAP on DB2.We have our SAP on DB2
This could be the reason as to why you are not able to download Oracle patches.

What is the impact if you upgrade Oracle 9.2.03 to 9.2.07
Please, can anybody tell me what is the impact is for and SAP R/3 4.6C system if you upgrade the Oracle database 9.2.03 to 9.2.07 ?
Thanks
Peter.Hi
Is there any reason for uprading only to 9.2.07? Why cant you plan for oracle 10.2.0.2 ?
As such there are no issues upgrading the patch set of oracle from 9.2.0.2 to 9.2.0.7.. More than issues there are limitation based on OS, 32-bit/64-bit..
Hope this is helpful..
