Upgrading OS - How do I get all my music back into reinstalled iTunes?
Hi. We are upgrading my operating system from Windows 2000 to XP on my computer that currently runs iTunes. I have my entire iTunes folder backed up on another computer. I know I'll probably have to reinstall iTunes after the OS is upgraded. But how do I add all that music back into the new version of iTunes? We won't be replacing the hard drive, so all that music should still be on the same computer.
When I reinstall iTunes, will it automatically add the music back, or will I have to do that manually? If so, how do I do it? Just go to the "Add a folder" option in iTunes and add the entire iTunes folder? If I do that, my playlists should be restored since I have the .itl file in that folder, right?
This is so confusing.
Install iTunes.
Copy the backed up iTunes folder into My Documents/My Music.

How can I get all my music files into my itunes folder?
I have tons of music scattered all over my computer in different locations, I want to put all the music in my itunes folder- C:\Documents and Settings\David\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
The problem is, is when I move the music to my itunes folder the music I move does not play in itunes. So how can I do this
ThanksDon't move files manually! That indeed causes iTunes to lose track. Use the command Advanced > Consolidate Library. Before you begin, read up on Consoidate in the Help file so you understand what it does.
When you are done consolidating, you can delete the extras if you wish. -

how do i get all my music back ????
- If in the USA you can redownoad iTunes purchased music by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- If not in USA, you can contact iTunes and they may allow a redownload if yu explain what happened. However, it is up to your to backup music.
- For other music you will have to go back to where it was obtained. -
I have downloaded my new itunes how can i get all my music back
i have downloaded my new itunes how can i get all my music back
Itunes was deleted? Or your itunes library was deleted?
If it was just itunes, then your music should still be there. Just reinstall itunes.
Otherwise just use your backup copy of your comuter to put everything back. -
I need help. I would like to get all my music back. Thank you
For what silly reason would someone expect media to magically appear simply because they signed into iTunes?
Media is only where the user puts it.
Either copy the media from the old computer (or it's backup) to the new computer or download past purchases from iTunes.

How do I move ALL my music in iTunes back to its original space on my desktop. I have music on my desktop, music on an external hard drive and some saved on a flash. I cannot backup my music because I cannot locate it. I have 4 separate music libraries (same songs) but don't know where to begin to get my music and libraries back in order. CAN SOMEONE SHOW ME THE WAY HOME?
Hi there old45,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.
iTunes 11 for Windows: Change where your iTunes files are stored
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12365
Consolidate your files in the iTunes folder
You can consolidate all the files in your library in the iTunes folder—for example, to make it easier to move your library to a new computer.
Choose File > Library > Organize Library.
Select “Consolidate files.”Files remain in their original locations, and copies are placed in the iTunes folder.
To create folders (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Audiobooks, and so on) inside your iTunes folder, and place all your imported media files in the appropriate folders, select “Reorganize files in the folder ‘iTunes Media.’”
Locate your iTunes files
Do either of the following:
Find out where a file is stored: Select the item in iTunes, and choose File > Get Info. The path to the file is shown at the bottom of the Summary pane (next to Where).
Show the file in Windows Explorer: Select the song, and choose File > Show in Explorer.

By restoring it from your backup, redownloading it through the iCloud, migrating it from the old computer, or transferring it from an iPod or similar device.

i pushed restore on my ipod touch but i didnt mean to how do i get my all my music i had on it
The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.
The iCloud backup includes iTunes purchases only.
You can redownload iTunes purchases likePhilly_Phan said -

How do I get ALL my music back ??
I had 3.5 DAYS of music in iTunes and now it's gone. How do I get it ALL back ??
Have you checked to see if it's still on your computer, just not listed in your iTunes library - have you tried searching for it in Finder ?
If not then you can copy to back from your backup of your library/downloads, or for your iTunes purchased music do you have it on your iOS device - if you do then you can copy to back from that via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases -

How do I get all my music back in iCloud?
All my music in iCloud was greyed out so I followed what seems to have worked for pretty much everyone on here, signing in and out and then turning iTunes Match on again, and it's gotten rid of all the music from my library... Is there any way to get this working again or do I have to add EVERYTHING back manually?
So irritated.Hi,
The simplest solution would to restore from your back up - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4112
If you do not have a back, you can select first track on list in song view, from menu > edit > select all. Next ctrl+click and select download from pop up. You may wish to do this in small batches as it will take some time to download.
