Upgrading photoshop CS2 to CS6?

I would like to upgrade my PS CS2 to CS6, but don't see that option (only CS3 or higher).  Can anyone help?

Sorry, it's not possible to upgrade from CS2 to CS6. CS2 is too old.
Unfortunately you must pay full price.
Only CS5/CS5.5 qualifies to upgrade to CS6.
A temporary dispensation is permitted by Adobe for CS3 and CS4 users to upgrade to CS6 until Dec 31, 2012. After that date, they also pay full price.
http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq/upgrade-policy.html
Adobe has changed the upgrade rules with CS6 - to a "one-version-back" policy - so that only those users with the most current version can upgrade. Everyone else pays full price. i.e. no more version skipping.

  • I have Design Premium CS5, but can I upgrade Photoshop ONLY to CS6?

Like I stated, I have Adobe Design Premium CS5. I don't use the other programs as often as I use Photoshop, so is it possible for me to upgrade Photoshop only to CS6? Or do I have to purchase Design Premium CS6 in order to upgrade?
    Thank you for your time!

NO. Suites can only be upgraded to suites. A standalone upgrade would simply not accept the serial number.

  • I upgraded Photoshop CS2 back in 2006.  How can I buy and install the upgrade to a newer version of Photoshop?

I currently have Photoshop CS2 and purchased and installed an upgrade for it back in 2006.  It has not been upgraded since and now today when I tried to access it I get a message saying I have to reactivate it but it won't allow me to do that. How can I upgrade my version of Photoshop?

CS2 is totally outside the upgrade loop.  It doesn't qualify for anything.
However, you can still install CS2.  You just have to download a special CS2 version, expressly meant for CS2 owners, which requires no activation and also the new key number for that special edition; your old serial number will not work, the new one only works for the new, modified CS2 version.
Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
Adobe decommissioned the old CS2 activation servers, then generated this workaround for CS2 licensees.

  • Can I upgrade Photoshop CS5 to CS6 separately instead of having to upgrade my entire creative suite?

I have the CS5 design premium suite but I do not wish to pay 600 plus dollars for the whole upgrade, I would only like to pay the 200 dollars to upgrade photoshop.
FYI (I am not eligible for the free upgrade because I purchased CS5 when it came out)

No. Suites can only be upgraded as a whole.

  • Upgrade Photoshop CS3 to CS6

I am trying to upgrade from Photoshop CS3 which has 20 digits for a serial number to CS6 which has 24.  Where do the extra 4 digits come from?

Adobe simply changed the bnumbering scheme. not sure why you think this is of any relevance.

  • Upgrading Photoshop CS5 to CS6

I have just downloaded PS CS6 as an upgrade to CS5. Do I need to uninstall CS5 first before installing CS6? Will I need to keep the disk for CS5 if I need to re-install CS6 if I upgrade my computer?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Do I need to uninstall CS5 first before installing CS6?
No. CS6 will install into its own folder. You can keep using CS5 and CS6.
Will I need to keep the disk for CS5 if I need to re-install CS6 if I upgrade my computer?
Not the disk. Just the CS5 serial number. Keep all serial numbers very safe and handy for future reference.
When you reinstall CS6 (new computer or re-build the old one) just install the CS6 upgrade disk (even if no Adobe product has ever been installed on that computer).
The CS6 installer will ask you for the CS6 serial and will recognise that it's an upgrade. It will then ask you to enter a serial from an earlier qualifying version. Enter your CS5 serial number and the CS6 will complete the install.

  • I just upgraded from CS2 to CS6

    OMG where is my Library???

Thanks got that. It looks like i will have to recreate my original library from CS2 - none of the elements in CS2 docs are linked since they came from that library.
    Any ideas?

  • Upgrading from Photoshop CS3 to CS6

I am upgrading photoshop CS3 to CS6 on Windows 7.
I have downloaded two files: Photoshop 13_LS16.exe and Photoshop_LS167z.
However, it has not installed properly.
I can only open CS6 if I click on the LS167z file with (open with PS).
And although it opens I get the message: Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.
CS3 is still as it was.

    Many thanks
    That makes everything clear.
    Also thanks for the deletes!

  • Doubleclick should open image file by version CS2 (not CS6)

Under Windows XP I've installed Photoshop CS2 and CS6 simultaneously, therefore
two programs with the same name exist:
    ...Photoshop CS2\photoshop.exe
    ...Photoshop CS6\photoshop.exe
By double click I want to open a *.TIF image by Photoshop CS2 (for certain reasons).
I know how to assign an execution program to a file type in Windows XP.
Whatever I do –  pointing to the CS2 version – the operating system reverts always
    to the CS6 version.
The same problem for InDesign and Illustrator. Contributions will be appreciated.
    Best regards --Gernot Hoffmann

If you press the Restore button it should change to Advanced, but photoshop cs6 will probably still be shown.
The idea is to get photoshop cs2 to show up on the Open With list.
If your able to get the Advanced button to show after pressing Restore and it still shows photoshop cs6, do you have
edit shown under the Actions in the Advanced dialog?

  • Photoshop CS2 and mac upgrade to OS 10.6 ?

I just upgraded my imac to OS 10.6 and now my Photoshop CS2 tries to open but then closes down suddenly. My Illustrator works fine.

When you installed OSX 10.6 it doesn't install Rosetta by default.
Rosetta is necessary to run Power PC applications in 10.6 on Intel Macs
You need to use your OSX install disk and just install Rosetta
Then without opening PS, Click the PS CS2 application icon in the Finder (the application not the folder) use Get Info (command I) and make sure  "Open using Rosetta" is checked.
Snow Leopard OSX 10.6 is the last version of OSX that still has Rosetta and you won't be able to use any more OSX upgades.
You should either upgrade to CS6 or you will be stuck using Snow Leopard forever. CS2 is already out of the upgrade path.

  • I have photoshop CS2 on a mac 10.6.8 OS. I want to upgrade to Yosemite OS (10.10). Will photoshop work on the new OS? Is there an upgrade available if needed?        toshop keep working? Can I reload it  if needed?

Photoshop was the last version compiled for the PPC cpu, not Intel. 10.6.8 kept it going with the Rosetta emulator, gone since 10.7.
    So, no CS2 won't work under 10.10
CS6 (permanent license) or Lightroom and Photoshop | Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan is the way to go.

  • Photoshop CS2 upgrade?

I just upgraded my Mac OSX.4 to OSX.6, since my Outlook email program told me my browser was outdated.  What a headache!  Had to back everything up, then couldn't reinstall my Photoshop CS2.
(Anyone remember the good old days when they made things to last?)  I think I now have to upgrade my Photoshop to CS5, and then will get a free upgrade to CS6, even though my CS2 was absolutely fine!  I really don't have the money for that right now and wonder if anyone can provide a solution???

You startled me for a second!  Thankfully, you are mistaken.
I just went and double checked:  Photoshop 7.0.1 launched flawlessly in Tiger 10.4.11 on my G5 Quad Power Mac, and I'm delighted to see it running like the proverbial bat out of he!! on that machine.
I have the PPC G5 Quad sharing dual monitors, as well as keyboard, mouse and tablet— through a simple USB switchbox—with my Mac Pro running Lion 10.7.5.  The Power Mac also runs Classic so I have a very wide choice of Mac operating systems without moving my chair, keyboard and monitors.

  • Photoshop CS2 Upgrade Installation Problems w/ Vista Problems

I recently purchased a new laptop w/ Windows Vista which I'm trying to install my copy of Photoshop CS2 onto. My Photoshop license is an upgrade license ... originally upgraded from Photoshop v4.0.
When installing an upgrade copy of PS CS2, it requires proof of your previous version in order to verify you're a legitimate upgrader. This works fine if you're upgrading from a version of Photoshop after 5.x ...you simply insert your CD and the installation continues. The installation process is less straight-forward for users like myself ... installing from an upgraded version prior to 5. I'm required to call Adobe ... and conduct a phone verification procedure where I give them a code displayed on the screen during installation and they give me a response code to type into the installation form.
I deauthorized my old laptop ... start the installation routine on my new laptop ... call Adobe w/ my verification code ... enter the response code (which is accepted) and complete the installation without any problems. My problem occurs when I go to run the software. The startup screen indicates that the software is still in "Tryout Mode", and the first window I'm presented with is the "Adobe Activation" window requesting my serial number. If I try to enter my CS2 serial number it is rejected with the message:
"You must enter a valid serial number before activating online or viewing activation options. Please check your serial number and re-enter it, or click the Purchase button to buy a copy of this product"
The thing is ... this IS a valid serial number. I've confirmed this with Adobe. (It's probably an upgrade serial number, which is why the software is rejecting it). I called Adobe and they're now telling me that I must enter a paid-support agreement in order to receive help installing my software. They claim their software is working correctly, and it must be a problem with my computer.
Has anybody experienced a problem like this? I refuse to pay more for something that worked fine on XP just to use it on Vista due to bugs in their installation and activation routine.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

Have the bugs of using with Vista been fixed, or still not working? thanks,
I know this is an old problem, but surely there is an answer to fix the problem by now...
What problems?  I used Photoshop CS2 with Vista with no problems (I still have it installed on a Vista system if you'd like me to check anything in particular).  CS3 and CS4 worked well as well.  Haven't tried CS5 on Vista as I have moved up to Windows 7, but I suspect it works just fine.
