Upgrading Questions....Please?

I have some questions I am hoping someone will be able to help me with if it's not too much trouble.
First off, I have a MSI KT3 Ultra motherboard running an XP 1800 CPU. I am thinking about upgrading it when I return home in a few days. After checking both this website, and AMD's website, it seems that the fasted CPU my motherboard is compatible with is an XP 2600. What's the deal with this? I was hoping to get a XP 3000, and the thought of getting an XP 2600 just seems like a bit of a waste. Could anyone tell me why I can't use an XP 3000? Is there no possible way to use an XP 3000 with my current motherboard??
Secondly, I was also hoping to upgrade my RAM. I currently have a 256meg stick of KINGMAX PC-2700 RAM in it. This was somewhat cheap RAM that I bought for my computer while I was in Taiwan. After looking around on the internet and whatnot, I've noticed there doesn't seem to be KINGMAX RAM for sale anywhere, so it seems I'll have to get a different brand. I was hoping to get a 512meg stick and slap it in there when I get home. In terms of compatibility Is this a complete crapshoot or should it not be a problem? Also, I recall hearing that it isn't good to mix different capacity sticks of RAM together (256meg and 512 or whatnot). If I were to mix them, would it be detrimental to the performance of the RAM?

thanks for the help. ok, I understand that apparently it is not compatible. If this is the case though, why is it that I can set the multiplier to 166? With my current CPU it is set to 133 (I once tried to set it to 166 out of curiousity, but it wouldn't boot). Is it likely that I will cause damage to some of the components (or all) if I were to get a 333 fsb processor and set the multiplier at 166? thanks.

Each phone has their own contract, so you will be able to upgrade the other phones at later dates ans still get discounted phones.

Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade questions (please help)

Dear Lenovo Community:
I recently purchased a Thinkpad T500 and signed up for the Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade Program. I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find the answers to elsewhere. I was hoping some of you could help:
1) Will the Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade disc include both the 32 and 64 bit install options? My T500 came loaded with Vista Ultimate 32, but I would like to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 if possible.
2) I've recently heard a lot about the Lenovo Enhanced Experience. Can anyone briefly explain what this is? Will I be able to take advantage of all the EE features with my T500 using the Windows 7 Upgrade?
3) My computer came pre-loaded with 3 drives (or maybe they're partitions?): C:, Q: (Lenovo), and S: (ServiceV003). How will these drives/partitions be affected with the Windows 7 Upgrade if I opt for a clean install? Will I be able to eliminate the Q: and S: drives if I want? (I have a Samsung Solid State Drive by the way, in case this matters.)
4) Finally, when will the Upgrade discs be shipping? Lenovo and Mentor Media have been rather silent about when we will receive our upgrades. Can we expect an e-mail update indicating that our order has shipped?

1. Bit foggy on this. Will have to do a clean install for sure. Not sure if 32 and 64 bit are on same disk. As you have ultimate, you might be at an advantage here.
2. Look at the videos in other threads. You will get "some" of the benefit. I'm actually guessing wiht a clean install, you will have afaster machine than one of the EE ones with all of the crapware
3. re-partition into a single drive. They will be of no use to you. Or, pop out the drive and clean install to a new SSD ($250) or WD Scorpio Black ($75) drive for extra speed. I'm doing this giving me the option of putting the old drive back in to have Vista in factory condition if I ever need to (I don't expect to and will probably wipe the drive and re-use it in 6 months).
4. Other thread suggested 1/2 have shipped and rest will ship next week.

Should I backup before upgrading? How?
And if it does not work out, how can I revert back to 10.3?

You should backup before installing anything new. You should backup before examining your machine for hardware or software trouble. You should backup after writing data that is important to you. Here's my backup FAQ*:

If you follow my cloning instructions there, you can just clone back your backup if the 10.4 upgrade doesn't work.
To upgrade to 10.4 you'll need to at least double your RAM to have effective speed. You'll also want at least 10 GB of free hard disk space. My upgrade FAQ* explains other things you need to watch out for:

T400 SSD Upgrade Question Do I need a new drive caddy? My machine shipped with a 1.8" drive.

I'm planning on upgrading to a larger SSD in my T400. It originally shipped with a 1.8" 64GB Samsung SSD and I'm probably going to upgrade it to a 2.5" 7mm Samsung 840 (non-pro) SSD.
I'm not sure if the current caddy in the T400 is going to fit the new SSD, or if I'll need to purchase the 2.5" caddy. If so, does anyone know the FRU # of the caddy I'll need?

A couple issues to watch out for (x200/t400 generation)':
a) Sandforce drives (Sata Link Power managerment) issues. b) Samsung drives work well (just don't use bios disk passwords, works but confuses bios).

OEM v.4 questions please

We installed the beta version of OEM v.4
For my project I have 3 important questions please:
1) Can we monitor application servers other than Oracle 9iAS like BEA Weblogic ? ( if yes how ? )
2) Can we monitor JSP applications deployed on other application servers ( BEA, Apache-Tomcat, ... )
We always have an Oracle DB but not all of our app.servers are Oracle.
3) Did Oracle announced an estimated date for production of OEM v.4 ?

Server/networking upgrade questions

thanks in advance for all and any info for the following questions, please pardon my ignorance in this area.
I have a neighbor who is a lawyer. At this point he has a MDD PM. His secretary uses this. His secretary who is a guy that is pretty brainy with windows suggested John (the lawyer) get a screen and keyboard and upgrade his PM to a server so he could use it too (in another room via ethernet)
Sooooooo.
My question is....can this be done? I am thinking no...as you still need a computer per se?

any mac can be a server, just goto the system preferences-->sharing-- turn on personal file sharing.
But you need to be more specific.
So you have a mirrordoor powermac, and you want to use another computer in another room to access the files on this powermac?
or do you mean you wan to be able to control this mac from another room using another computer?

Keeping my bill Price upgrading Question.

Right now I am on a Plan with 4 others who all have basic phones. I am the only one who has a Smart phone which i have had for 3 years now and it cost me 9.99 for line access and 30.00 for my 2gb data package. Now if i upgrade to a new smart phone what happens because prices seem to have change? will this change my line access from 9.99 to what it is now i think 40.00? Will i have to buy an off contract price phone to keep my bill the same? thanks

Hp pavilion dv7-6157cl upgrade questions

I currently own an hp pavilion dv7-6157cl and want to upgrade my memory to 8gb and the HD to at least 1 TB. I figure I will do it when I tear my laptop appart to replace the cooling fan ( strange though - I have a Compaq (which is supposedly a lower end of the HP line but it is over 3 years older and the fan is still going strong and an even a much older and lower end Gateway with no fan problems - go figure!). I upgraded my Compaq wireless card from a G to an N and learned that HP/Compaq had white lists for certain parts that would only allow certain manufactures parts to be used. Is this true also for memory and hard drives?
As far as the memory goes - what are the specs (I know they are DDR3) but what is the speed specs of the memory used. Being that it is 6 GB I presume there is a 4 and 2 GB stick installed but I have also gone by the standard that it is faster to have both memory sticks the same capacity and speed. I also presume the extra memory would improve graphics also as the graphics share the sytem memory.
I also am going to be replacing the 640 GB HD with at least a 1 TB drive - is there a good program to clone the internal drive to use a bigger one as a direct replacement without having to reinstall everything. The cloning process would be simplified as currently buying 2.5 inch external USB 3.0 drives is cheaper than buying barebones drives (a 2.5" 1 TB Seagate drive can . I presume if I got a 2 TB external I would have to partition it into 2 1 TB partions but the way the 2 TB 2.5" external drives it would be worth the cost.
Finally - besides the above questions are there certain makes for memory and HD's that are in the "whitelist" that can only be used. Any and all info would be appreciated.

You've got many questions, please allow me to make some suggestions (not in order):
1. 1TB is the sweet point now in term of price/performance and no need to muck around due to some limitations. Many HSSD's (Hybrid SSD) now are very good. HP uses few suppliers and many laptops use Toshiba HDD's, you may want to play safe by using this brand.
2. For memory: your machine support 8Gb max as mentioned in its specs. From 6Gb to 8Gb you can't see or feel the difference but if you wish, keep the existing 4Gb and buy a SAME specs/brand 4Gb stick to replace the 2Gb stick. The video card on your machine can take "Up to 3061MB" max this will give you plenty of RAM.
3. Cloning existing HDD to new HDD is the best approach if you won't need to change anything (by the way, I use this many times to swap my HDD's around my test machines). Some vendors supply tool for you (or you can download from their sites) to clone. There are few good cloning software around:

ThinkPad X131e (amd) RAM Upgrade Questions.

I have a ThinkPad x131e (amd 1.7 ghz) laptop. It currently has 4 GB (1x4 ddr3) of ram. I want to upgrade the ram on the machine without it bogging down. I have herd rumors that my system is able to support up to 16 GB of ram even though it only officially supports 8 GB. I am a college student and I do a lot of graphic design, and Photoshop cs6 runs slightly sluggish for my taste. I was wondering if these rumors were true. If so, what is the highest frequency of ram that I could get with a 2 x 8 GB setup. Any and all advice is accepted.

X60s Wifi upgrade question

Hi all!
I have been using my X60s laptop for a while now and Its been superb!
I am after upgrading the wifi to 300mb N if possible, As i work as a computer engineer i am able to change the internal wifi card for another quite easy, however I cant find any info on what would be compatable.
I have searched for wireless n mini pci express cards and found a few but the odd one says wont work in lenovo X series.. I cant see why not though..
Can anybody reccommend a suitable card I can put into my laptop?

google zender. he might have a bios for your machine. if not, he might be willing to make one. you can get a flat antenna that will slide under the palmrest for the 3rd antenna but your range won't be very good. i had to put one in to use bluetooth on an x32. just don't put it under the keyboard coz the metal backing will really block the signal.

With iOS 6, the all day events showed up in the notification centre but it lacks in the upgrade iOS 7.

Same problem here. Some people pointed out that all-day events do show up in their notification center, but that seems only to be the case for birthdays (and only as text like the weather). I've tried it myself on my iPhone and iPad and it did work for birthdays but not for any other all-day events. I already sent this to Apple as a product feedback as well, as should everyone of you. The more people mention it, the faster Apple's going to fix this issue. In its current state, notification center is not a very helpful feature in my opinion. There's absolutely no point in not showing all-day events in the 'today' calendar overview.

What is ticket? Process flow ticket
Handling tickets is called Issue Tracking system. The errors or bugs forwarded by the end user to the support team are prioritized under three seviority High, Medium and Low. Each and every seviority as got its time limits before that we have to fix the error.
The main job of the supporting consultant is to provide assistance on line to the customer or the organisation where SAP is already implemented for which the person should be very strong in the subject and the process which are implemented in SAP at the client side to understand,to analyse,to actuate and to give the right solution in right time.This is the job of the support consultant.
The issues or the tickets(problems) which are arised is taken care of on priority basis by the support team consultants.
The work process in support projects are given below for your reference.
1. The customer or the end user logs a call through any tool or by mail (RADIX).
2. Each one of the support team is a part of support group.
3. Whenever a customer logs a call he /she has to mention to which work group (by name).
4. Once the calls came to the work group the support consultant or the team need to send an IR (Initial Response) to the user depending upon the priority of the calls. (Top,High,Med,Low,None)
5. Then the error is fixed, debugged by the support consultant or the team. Then after testing properly by generating TR(Transport Request through the basis admin)
6. Then it is informed to the end user/customer/super user about the changes which have moved to the production server by CTS process.
These are the process. In summary, what I understand is that if any configuration or customization is required to solve the issue, then the consultant have to work on DEV Client, then the end user will test it in the QA client and after approval the BASIS consultant has to transport it to the PRODUCTION client.

Tickets in SD can be considered as the problems which the end user or the employee in the company face while working on R/3. Tickets usually occur during the implementation or after theimplementation of the project. There can be numerous problem which can occur in the production support and a person who is working in the support has to resolve those tickets in the limited duration, every ticket has the particular deadline alert so your responsibility is to finish it before that deadline.
To begin with , we should give "TICKET" to you for not knowing it.
Here is an eg of a ticket raise:
End user is not able to
1. Create Sales order for a customer from a New plant , since shipping point determination is not happened . ( Without Shipping point the document becomes INCOMPLETE and he will not be able to proceed further like DELIVERY, BILLING).
He raises a ticket and the priority is set in one of the below:
1. Low 2. Medium 3. High.
Now you need to solve this ticket. You would analyze the problem and identify that the SP configuration has to be done for the new plant.
You would request a transport for DEV CLIENT to BASIS. You do the change and Request one more Transport to BASIS for QA client. The End user will test the same by creating a sales order for the new plant and approve it.
Finally, you request a transport to move the changes to PRODUCTION. Once the change is deployed in production the TICKET is closed. What I have given is a small example. You would get some real issues with severity HIGH in your day-day support.

I saw in search help docmentation that through import and export parameter it is possible.

Routines are subroutines in which we can write our own code without disturbing the driver program.

Log data changes
The logging flag defines whether changes to the data records of a table should be logged. If logging is activated, every change (with UPDATE, DELETE) to an existing data record by a user or an application program is recorded in a log table in the database.
Note: Activating logging slows down accesses that change the table. First of all, a record must be written in the log table for each change. Secondly, many users access this log table in parallel. This could cause lock situations even though the users are working with different application tables.
Dependencies
Logging only takes place if parameter rec/client in the system profile is set correctly. Setting the flag on its own does not cause the table changes to be logged.
The existing logs can be displayed with Transaction Table history (SCU3).

Iphone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore, only option available now is to "restore and update" however this will not work, how can you restore from a backup once in recovery mode and only option is "restore and upgrade"? Please help!

iPhone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore it. Now the only option iTunes allows is for "restore & upgrade", it is not offer an option to restore from a backup, says that must first do the upgrade, when attempting to do the upgrade the iPhone won't accept it.
How can I restore from a back up in recovery mode when the only option is "restore and upgrade"?

You don't you must restore your phone first and then you will have the option to restore from your backup.
