Upgrading Service Pack in SAP BI 7.0

Hi All,
We are using BI 7.0. and need to upgrade the Service pack from SP 14 to SP 16.
Can anyone please let me know
1. The Impact on the system we would be facing with this upgrade.
2. The things that need to be taken care - pre or post upgradation. Any check list or Test
Plan to take care after the upgrade.
Thanks in advance.
-Maddy

Hi,
On uograding the service pack, unit testing needs to be perfromed for all the objects.
For e.g.
1. Perform the loads for all the infoproviders as well as master data.
2. Execute all queries, web templates etc....
3. Check all workbooks.
4. check if roll up and change run are executing fine.
Hope this helps!!!

Nitin

  • Upgrade Service Pack (pros and cons)

    Hi,
We need to upgrade the PI 7.0 from SP16 to SP17, could you please guide with the positive & negative aspects of it.
    Regards
    Prathibha

    Hi,
Upgrading Service pack in PI environment is a common task,
The new service pack always offers some new benefits like (SAP solves some bugs in current version SP), so chance of getting bug/error will be less. Some times it offers new features.
Negatives some times java mapping programs, if you used any external jar files, it may create some problems (few times).

    Hi
A Support Package contains a collection of error corrections. You can only import complete Support Packages and in a specified sequence. Each correction in a Support Package is documented in an SAP Note
SAP Notes give you instructions on how to remove known errors from SAP Systems. They include a description of the symptoms, the cause of the error, and the SAP Release and Support Package level in which the error occurs.
Depending on the type of error, an SAP Note may also include:
    · Workarounds
    · Descriptions of how to correct repository objects in the ABAP workbench, known as correction instructions
    · Links to Support Packages that solve the problem
You can access SAP Notes both from the SAP Service Marketplace and SAPNet - R/3 Frontend

  • Upgrade Service Pack 4.0 - MS SQL 2000

    Hi
We are at MS SQL 2000 SP3.0. We are planning to upgrade the SP to level 4.0. I need to know the steps involves, any issue that need to aware off.
    Thanks
    Yuva

    Hello Yuva,
It is a good idea to move to SP4. SAP note 417089 thoroughly discusses the installation of SQL Server 2000 Service Packs in an SAP system. Please read it carefully. SAP note 62988 contains quite a bit of detail on various SQL Server Service Packs and hot fixes.
All in all, the application of SP4 is easy and straightforward.

  • Portal problem in navigation after upgrade Service Pack 25 (SP25)

    Hi experts,
We have upgraded our NetWeaver 2004 (6.40) environment with Portal 6.0 to the latest Service Pack 25 (SP25).
After the whole upgrade a strange problem occurs in the Portal when using the portal navigation. After a few clicks in the navigation a JavaScript error in the browser occurs. We use Internet Explorer 7 and 8.
When the error occurs, we have to refresh the browser to use the portal again. I have the idea that the problem is relating to the session management but i can't figure it out.
    Any ideas?
    JavaScript error details:

    Dear Benjamin,
Thank you for your answer. I think it helped us with the scope of the problem.
We use a FQDN for the Portal and also a FQDN for the backend (R/3). There is nothing changed in those hostnames between the upgrade from SP19 to SP25. The browser problem occurs after a few clicks (10 - 30) in the left-side navigation and is not based on time or specific iView. So its difficult to find a routine structure in the presents of the error.
I have also used the tool to analyse the JavaScript code. It gives a error on a not defined object value within the file js13_epcf.js?6.0810.
It seems that the part of the code had to do something with the iFrame usage of the Portal. But it's to difficult to find the real cause of the issue.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • NI Update Service: Upgrades & Service Packs: LabVIEW 2012 FPGA Module Xilinx Tools 10.1

    Hi,
I downloaded / installed the newest LV 2012 release - everythin fine so far (its great )
NI-Update Service proposed the installation of a service pack - download and installation worked too.
NI-US also suggests to update the Xilinx tools for the FPGA module, but the download is not working. Seems like the download-link is broken??
    Any suggestions?
Another interesting question: I live in Austria (German speaking), but we use Windows & LV entirely in English in our company. The NI-US however is heavily localized - even the item description is in German. While this is OK for me, I still wonder if I could change it to English too.

    Hi Benjamin,
OK, I see, if the PC doesn't have any Xilinx tools installed at all, then Update Service will not offer you the update. It only displays upgrades to software that is already installed.
This log from the other PC shows that the Xilinx 10.1 update fails to download, as your message said initially, but unfortunately it doesn't say anything more.
We released a bunch of new updates last week, and since then there have been a few cases like this, but it doesn't seem widespread or easily reproducible. I can see in our server reports that other users successfully downloaded this update yesterday.
I attached a downloader file that you can try. Unzip the file and run the exe. All it does is point to the same download location that Update Service is using to download this file. If the downloader works, then the problem is with Update Service. If the downloader doesn't work, then we'd know that something on our web servers isn't delivering this file properly.
Also, if you happen to have any HTTP traffic monitoring software (like Fiddler), I'd be interested to know what it says is happening during the file download request.

  • Upgrade Service pack

    Hi.
We currently use NW 6.5 SP6
We have been advised to upgrade to SP8
    We use the following products
    (IDM 3.0.1, Zenworks 7, Edirectory 8.7.3)
Has anyone recently upgraded to Sp7 or Sp8 and encountered issues especially around the versions of IDM etc that we are using?
Do we need to upgrade incrementally i.e. to SP7 then SP8?
Does anyone have any documentation on what is changed when the SP is applied? Have looked on they Novell site and seems that a lot of content has been removed?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    Simon.

Latest version of IDM suitable for install on NetWare is 3.5.1.
    > Do we need to upgrade incrementally i.e. to SP7 then SP8?
No you can go directly from SP6 to SP8 as SP8 includes all the fixes
    from SP7.
