Please provide the list of things to be taken care while upgrading Siebel from 7.5 SEA ENU to 8.1.1.11 SIA (ENU,FRA,Germany,spanish,Italian,portuguese)

Correct, at each step you use as input for the test/ production upgrade process the custrep.dat and schema.ddl taken from the development upgrade of that step.

I have a requirement where I send data from external webservice to be displayed in a siebel form applet. The control which displays this data is a textarea but the problem is my data is with HTML tags in it like

Hello Shweta,
From what I have observed, TextArea do not allow HTML formatting. This is because they are dependant on the Siebel ActiveX component unlike the Textbox.
So in case you want to try to remove the HTML tags:
1. Try with a text box instead of a text area.
2. In the form applet map the control and try with HTML Display Mode as DontEncodeData if not successful.
3. Also set the HTML Type to Field.

We are planning to upgrade our application, currently on oracle forms 6i to oracle forms 11g
Would need help to analyze what are the issues we may face after the upgrade has been done.
Our team will not be upgrading the forms (upgrade would be done by a separate oracle team). We just will have to fix the issues which may have been caused after the migration.

The migration assistant has no upgrade for that. You need to get a Javabean or PJC:

I don't know what kind of OLE files you have, but if it's just Word and Excel, I would you use browser functionality instead and get the doc's via web.show_document. That, however, doesn't give you update possibility.
You can also use webutil file transfer to get the file to the PC, modify it there, and transfer back to the database.
Then you still have a problem. Documents uploaded via Forms OLE container are actually modified by Forms before they are stored in the database. So, don't throw away your 6i version yet.
You need to get all the stored documents out via Forms 6i and save them as a normal document on the file system. Then you can store them back in the database using some other tool, like dbms_lob or webutil's file transfer.

We are also planning to upgrade Siebel Analytics 782+Infa 712+DAC to OBIEE 101341+ Bi Apps 7962+Infa861+DAC101341. We are using Sales Analytics module. Have a few questions regarding this situation:
1. After upgrading SA 782 to OBIEE 101341, we got a seeded rpd for BIApps 7962, but we also have a SA 782 rpd which has been customized with some changes. I have seen the Repository upgrade steps mentioned in Upgrade guide for Informatica Power Center User and it has the process of Equalizing the rpds and merging. If I use this will I be getting my customization's merged in to the out of box BI Apps rpd under the same business model?
What would be the best way to merge these two rpds, two way merge and keep the business models seperate or try to redo the customization in the new rpd?
2. For DAC, does all customization's have to be moved manually into the 101341 or can be exported?
3. For Informatica while upgrading the repository to 861, does the repository from version 712 has to be restored into the same database schema as the out of box 861 repository? Or restore the old 712 repository into a new database schema, upgrade the content and use the Informatica Repository manager tool to copy the custom folder s from old repository to out of box repository is enough?

I think you are setting that attribute in trigger which currently firing for that item.
for eg,
you have one item "empno".Suppose you want to set attribute for that item.you can't set that in
when-new-item-instance,key-next-item,post-text-item or ... triggers which currently firing for that item. you can use some other item's trigger.

Upgrade Siebel 7.5.3 - 8.1.1

Hi, we have a client that want to upgrade current Siebel version (7.5.3) to Siebel 8.1.1.
Does anyone have experience on that? Basically we want to confirm the path for migration (is it required to pass through an intermidiate bersion such as 7.7, 7.8 or 8.0?) and confirm what is the best way to estimate the effort for the upgrade without having access to client repository?

Yes 7.5.3 to 8.1.1.1 is a direct path upgrade.
Regarding your customer, there no short answer regarding the effort level of upgrade, as it will highly depend on the current Siebel application.
There are several factors to take into account:
Iso or not iso upgrade, SIA migration or SEA (Remember that 8.1.1 is the last SEA version) ,unicode migration, change of OS/SGBD, new modules or existing modules enhancements,number of languages deployed, interfaces technology, usere location (multi countries or local users), CTI to name few.
It is highly recommended that you perform a pre-migration study to assess risk and benefits and level of efforts.
Migration can be anywhere from 3 month to 1 year project so it is always wise to do at least a prestudy with customer configuration.

However, I see dozens of separated server components on the download page in OTN.
Can anyone guide me what server/developer software components should I prepare to install ?
Also, please tell me the service dependency between the server components.

It depends on which Machine you want to install. Its different for a developer and a Server.
For Forms and Reports, you can Weblogic server and install FMV with Forms and Reports builders.

Upgrade Siebel Analytics 7.8.2 RPD to BI Applications 7.9.6.1 RPD

We are upgrading from Siebel Analytics 7.8.2 version to BI Applications 7.9.6.1 version. The Siebel Analytics RPD is customized and having custom catalogs which are based on Pharma tables and the Core model is not at all customized. So, I have followed the steps specified in section 'Upgrading the Oracle BI Repository for Industry-Specific Analytics Applications' of Upgrade guide. Its known that there are some datawarehouse changes occurred between these versions. One of these changes are,
W_ORG_D of Siebel 7.8.2 is replaced with W_PARTY_ORG_D in BI Apps 7.9.6.1,
W_PERSON_D of Siebel 7.8.2 is replaced with W_PARTY_PER_D in BI Apps 7.9.6.1.
In order to upgrade the RPD we need to make use of MAP file that comes with the installation of BI Apps 7.9.6.1. For this process I'm using the map file rename782-796.map while equilizing the RPDs. But I dont find any information related to the above schema changes in the map file even though they are Oracle shipped ones. So, after doing some analysis I have listed the Alias tables created on top of W_ORG_D in 7.8.2 RPD and similarly in 7.9.6.1 RPD and specified the mapping information of these Alias tables in existing MAP file. Equlized the RPDs using the modified MAP file and done the merge process. But I'm observing some issues like the merged RPD is having both W_ORG_D and W_PARTY_ORG_D tables in all the three layers. Can I get any help on fixing this issue.

Forms 2.3 upgrade in Forms 4.5

I tried to convert my Forms 2.3 inp files (All V2 Triggers used),
by command line as,
f45gen module=test.inp userid=uname/passwd
output_file=result.fmb updrade=Yes version=23.
The command completed successfully, generating result.fmb file,
But after that I am unable to open the result.fmb file by
Forms designer, giving error ( Unable to Open the File )
What can be the problem ?

I am currently working on an upgrade of numerous SQL*Forms version 2.3 to 6i.
I have a few questions:
Is there a detailed checklist to follow for the migration from SQL*Forms 2.x to 6i?
Do you have any examples that show the proper syntax to follow for this conversion?
Some of our colleagues have stated that a migration from SQL*Forms version 2.3 to 3.0 is required?
Just to verify, if migrating from SQL*Forms v.2.3 to 6i - I need to first migrate the SQL*Forms v.2.3 .inp file to
version 4.5 using the F45GEN program of Developer 2000, this will generate a version 4.5 .fmb file which I then need to
migrate to 6i using the IF60CMP program of Developer6i
Please let me know if there are any additional undocumented steps that I need to follow.

I want the customer to consider implementing BCS instead.

Basically, the main advantage is more flexibility in availability control and key figures reporting. However, you should also consider the fact that Former Budgeting is not supported anymore by SAP in terms of developing new features; all the development is done now only in BCS.
