Upgrading SiebelAnalytics784 to OBIEE 341

Hi Experts...
Subject: Upgrading Siebel analytics 7.8.4 to OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1,
SiebelAnalytics 7.8.4 is in server box 'A' and OBIEE is in Box 'B',I want to move from Box A to Box B,My question is i need a starting point from where i need to start.
Shall i use SAWMigrate utility in box 'A' or in Box 'B'!so that i can upgrade to SA 784 to OBIEE 341.
Please do let me know if you have document related to this....i already view oracle documentations its only show on same boxes.If i am wrong please correct me.

Upgrade needs attention to lot of components, first you need to work on RPd and catalog, then any custom scripts.
Step1: Upgrade the RPD
To convert the older repository to the new platform format, open the repository file with new version of Admin Tool,Save the repository file.
Step 2: Change the catalog format. It should be done using sawmigrate
sawmigrate -c $OracleBIData_HOME\web\config\instanceconfig.xml $OracleBIData_HOME\web\catalog\mywebcat.webcat
this will create a new catalog folder structure, which you have to deploy in new server. for more info look at this..

I can find the configuration file in the following location
Configuration Files
DOMAIN_HOME/config/jms
If a JMS uses file-system accessible stores, the default file-system store is either in a user-configured location that is specified in config.xml, or in the following location:
DOMAIN_HOME/servers/server_name/data/store/default
But my question is where does the Stores file is found inorder to take the back up.

I have upgraded obiee11.1.1.5.0 to obiee11.1.1.6.0 version its working fine....i just took back up of entire obiee.then downloaded obiee11.1.1.6.0 version then installed software only installed after that upgraded MDS/DEV_BIPLATFORM schema finally upgraded upgradenonj2eeapp file and got woring now.

Issue in the webcat when upgrading OBIEE from 10.1.3.3.3 to 10.1.3.4.1

We have upgraded yesterday our OBIEE from version 10.1.3.3.3 to 10.1.3.4.1
We have just upgraded the server. I have not done any upgradation on my repositories or webcat. Please let me know if anything i have to do on the same.
When i open any segment or any saved request i am getting the following errors.
Error message ( Got when i do generate count in segments)
Error Codes: QS2QOLYY:UPU3LRED:YX2IM5RJ:OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
Error executing the list generation SQL.
Error in executing cursor for WorkNode (Id:0)
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. ld.so.1: nqsserver: fatal: libclntsh.so.10.1: open failed: No such file or directory [nQSError: 46029] Failed to load the DLL $ORACLEBI_HOME/server/Bin/libnqsdbgatewayoci10g.so. Check if 'Oracle OCI 10G' database client is installed. (HY000)

The issue is corrected when we install oracle client newly in the same box , because it was in prior was pointed to an older oracle client 32 bit version, But it needs 64 bit. so re-installed and it was made to work.

Issue After Upgraded to OBIEE 11g in Production

Recently We upgraded all from OBIEE 10g to 11g in Production.
Everything is fine but when we run our charts we get the error. When we double click the error message, we got the following:

Currently m running Siebel Analytics 7.8.5 on siebel crm.I want to upgrade to OBIEE11g with OBIA 7.6.
Is direct upgrade to OBIEE 11g available? Can anyone guide on upgradation process?
Is is better to upgrade directly to OBIEE 11g or redevelop all 700 reports again on obiee11g?

Step 2:OBIEE 10g to OBIEE 11g.

OBIEE 11.1.1.6 to 11.1.1.7 Out-of-place upgrade only

Currently we have OBIEE 11.1.1.6 instance on Linux machine and want to upgrade this to OBIEE 11.1.1.7. We have installed 11.1.1.7 on different Linux machine, we want to upgrade OBIEE 11.1.1.6 to OBIEE 11.1.1.7 using out-of-place only i.e. RPD and Catalog. Tried to upgrade with 11.1.1.7 ua.sh(upgrade assistant) but it saying rpd and catalog already upgraded, could you guys help us with step by step process Out-of-place upgrade.

I know that oracle has stopped supporting OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 hence we couldn't download it from oracle.com.
We are in process of upgrading our existing OBIEE version 11.1.1.5.0 to newest one. Before to that we need to configure UAT with horizontal clustering. To cluster the existing version i need OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 installer.
If anybody could share external link or make it available.

Many problems with migration OBIEE

Hi, I upgrade muy proyect obiee 10.2 to 11.1.1.5 and some dashboard displays errors.
Some dashboard error says:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 46036] Internal Assertion: Condition exceptNode.GetNumLists() >= 2, file server/Query/Optimizer/Request/Src/SQORRqDumpout.cpp, line 336. (HY000)
and others reports says:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 12002] Socket communication error at call=recv: (Number=9) Bad file descriptor (HY000)
Scenario:
Upgrade OBIEE: windows 32bits(obiee 10.2) to Oracle Linux 5.4 64 bits(obiee 11.1.1.5)
In Windows the rpd created datasource with ODBC and In linux i change conexion in rpd with OCI. I guess the problem can come from this change.I had to change the connection to OCI, but it's weird because I can run some reports and some do not.

I only upgrade the catalog and on a new machine rpd linux.

OBIEE 11G [nQSError: 17001] ERROR

Hi Experts,
I've installes OBIEE 11g & upgraded the existing OBIEE 10g RPD & WebCat to the 11g but when i try to see the dashboards & reports i get the following error.
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 12154, message: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified at OCI call OCIServerAttach. [nQSError: 17014] Could not connect to Oracle database. (HY000)
I've already tested the database connection using the Oracle SQL PLUS ,i'm able to connect to database.
Please let me know what changes need to be donw in the RPD.

Try putting the tnsnames.ora of your local db client in the following directory: <obi 11g install dir>\Oracle_BI1\network\admin. Looks like OBI11g comes with an Oracle client install or something.

we want to install obiee under HA (clustering ). for this we have to install database. is database should also be clustered(RAC) and should it is a requirement that it should be on same node on which obiee is being installed.

BIP Report Parameters not visible from Dashboard in OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1

Hello All,
After upgrading to the OBIEE 11.1.1.7 we are facing this issue. In the earlier versions of 11g it was working fine.(11.1.1.6)
When BIP reports are placed on dashboard as embedded content or as Link and opened from dashboard the BIP reports are missing the parameters section.where as the same report when opened directly from the catalog we are able to see the parameters.
Is any one facing the same issue? Is there any option to show the parameters from dashboard or its natural behavior of 11.1.1.7 or a bug?
Suggestions are highly appreciated.

so you are not able to see the parameter before running the report as embeded content or as a link ? do you want to show a link for the report in your dashboard ?
i havent faced this issue YET but i believe that 11.1.1.7 has some issues/bugs with the parameter
i have found a bug which is " dunno if you are facing it as well or not " but wheen you choose all values and apply parameter it just error out, i have opened an SR and after too many OWC they have told me its a bug.
BTW have you applied the latest patch ?

Which Oracle database should I install OBIEE RCU schemas into? Should I install them into the database that contains the star schemas? Also, if we have different star schemas (HR, Sales, etc.), should I install multiple pairs of OBIEE RCU schemas for the different data. Finally, should I create both the DEV schemas and PROD schemas?

Above schemas are used to store our Metadata,Usagetracking information related to your BI Application, like lifecycle of app, any triggers, any Schedulers etc
