Upgrading Solaris from 2.6 to 2.8 -- how to relink IAS 1.0.2.2.2

Hi,
We will be upgrading our Application Server from Solaris 2.6 to 2.8 (32-bit)
very soon.
We have the following Oracle products installed on this server:
Oracle Internet Application Server (IAS) 1.0.2.2.2 components:
Apache HTTP 1.3.19.0.0f
Oracle Portal 3.0.9.8
Oracle Discoverer 4.1.44
Oracle Forms and Reports 6.0.8.18.0 (aka Patchset 9)
JVM Build 3805
Jinitiator 1.1.8.16
Can someone please tell us what steps we need to perform before/during/after the
Solaris upgrade in order to ensure that our Oracle products will still function
after the upgrade?
Are there any risks or issues that we need to be aware of, with regard to this
upgrade and the list of products identified above?

from solaris 9 (5.9) to 10, this to take advantage of better TCP/IP
stack on Solaris 10 , and the Network trunking feature, multiplexing
network cards to same IP, which is non-standard in Solaris 9.
Our DB does not run in a cluster, and uses local disks only.
any issue we should be aware of? would all our system settings, like
disk, init and /etc/system remain unchanged? any estimate of down time?
I am assuming we would have to shut down oracle while running the
upgrade.
I just read that /etc/system is not supported? what would we have to do instead?

Upgrading wordpress from the wp admin panel. How?

Hi, I have major problems getting wordpress running properly with the LAMP settings found in the wiki. Thing is, the wordpress blog runs fine, but fails when updateing, installing or upgrading from the wordpress admin panel.
I've tried chown http:http, rataxes:rataxes, root:root and even a recursive chmod 777 /srv without succeding to update via the panel. Wordpress just says: "An unknown error occurred" when installing plugins. When upgrading I get wordpress's ftp update form in which I can't figure out what to enter.
I know some of you think it's a wordpress problem, it may partly be so, but the thing is it's only happening on my newly installed Arch machine. Any clues?

Have a look at PHP's error log (should be located at /var/log/user.log). My guess is that you need to set "allow_url_fopen" to "On" in /etc/php/php.ini.

Upgrading Solaris 10 from 32-bit to 64-bit in a VirtualBox VM

I am running 32-bit Sol 10 u5 x86 as a guest in a Sun VirtualBox (Vbox) virtual machine on a 32-bit WinXP host with 64-bit VT-capable Xeon processors, and am considering upgrading Solaris 10 to 64-bit using the latest version of Vbox (2.0.0). After installing WinXP Professional x64 and the 64-bit version of Vbox, will I have to completely re-install Sol 10 to get it to run in 64-bit, or is there some way to get it to 64-bit without a re-install? The Vbox forums suggested that I post this question on a Solaris forum, as they don't know the answer.
They apparently also do not know if Windows XP x64 is a compatible host OS on which to run 64-bit guests. They list only Vista, Linux, and OpenSolaris as supported 64-bit host OSs. Has anyone used WinXP x64 as a host for Vbox 64-bit guests? Due to policy, Vista is not available to me on my system/network.

The x86 installer will place both 32-bit and 64-bit code on the disk.
The loader fired by GRUB will attempt to detect the proper hardware and launch the correct kernel.
Other portions of the upgrade could conceivably cause a problem, but having the CPUs go from 32-bit only to 64-bit capable shouldn't be an issue. You don't have to make any changes.

Upgrade Solaris 8 from 10/01 to 02/02

Hi all, I need to upgrade some systems from Solaris 8 10/01 to 02/02. I use VxVM 3.2 and VxFS 3.4. I don't need to upgrade Veritas Software. I want use Live Upgrade and in all example I find (2.6 ==> 8) I have to reinstall VxVM. In my situation, is Veritas products reinstallaton mandatory?? Can I use unencapsulation and encapsulation??

Hi,
You have to get volume manager out of the way before you upgrade solaris. You can un-encapsulate the root disk, upgrade then re-encapsulate if you want.
The way I do is as follows:
boot up normally from the vxroot disk.
touch /etc/vx/reconfig.d/state.d/install-db
#This will stop volume manager from starting up in a normal mode. Basically stops all the volume management stuff from interferring
remove the root entries in /etc/system for veritas (e.g. rootdev:/psuedo/vxio@0:0 and set vxio:vol_rootdev_is_volume=1)
#this line tells solaris that the root volume is a veritas device. Without this removed Solaris will try to mount up the root disk as a veritas volume and fail.
cp /etc/vfstab /etc/vfstab.old
cp /etc/vfstab.prevm /etc/vfstab
#replaces the /etc/vfstab file with the pre-volume-manager one
reboot the system.
It will now reboot without volume manager. Boot it all up to make sure there are no problems / errors, the do an init 0, then a boot cdrom - install or whatever to install solaris. upgrade solaris.
Machine will then reboot after Solaris has been upgraded. Re-install volume manager (might not be required if you're on the same solaris version) and re-encapsulate the root disk. Initalise the root-mirror, and mirror the root disk to the mirror (after the 2 reboots that volume manager needs)
Much easier to do the upgrade this way ;)

Upgrading Solaris 8 to Solaris 10 on SUN Sparc E2900 server

We have a Sparc E2900 server which has Solaris 8 & Veritas Volume Manager 4.0. UFS & VXFS filesystems are under Veritas control.
We are planning to upgrade Solaris 8 to Solaris 10.
My questions are as follows
1) Can we upgrade from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10 directly ?
2) If Yes does Solaris 10 support Veritas Filesystem ?
3) Which is the best site to get information regarding upgradation ?

Hi, I need to upgrade my workstation from solaris 9 to solaris 10 by CD. And also upgrade solaris 8 to solaris 9.

You do not need to use liveupgrade to upgrade, unless you want to learn it--it's complicated. It's good for servers and if you wish to go back to pre-upgrade. You need plenty of spare disk space.
First backup your data on your system to another hard disk or DVD.
Then stick in the installation DVD and select "Upgrade" instead of "Initial Install" when asked.

Upgrading EBS from 11.5.10.2(11.2.0.2 database) to R12.1.3

we are running EBS 11.5.10.2 with 11.2.0.2 database. Now we are planing to upgrade only application from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3.
Are there any issues in upgrading application from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3 , I heard that we can not upgrade application to R12.1.3 with 11.2.0.2 ,is it true.

As mentioned above, there should be no issues in upgrading 11i with 11gR2 instance to R12.

Sunscreen upgrade Solaris 2.7 fails

I just rec. my new copy of Solaris 9.
I am attempting to upgrade a previous version of SunScreen
firewall running on Solaris 2.7.
So I kicked off the upgrade script and everything
seemed to be working good. The old Firewall was backed up
and removed. But during the install of the new Sunscreen
packages it failed. The problem is that the upgrade script tried
to install the following package: SUNWhttp as part of the upgrade
process. The problem is it doesn't exist on the CD in the 'sparc' directory.
As a result, the upgrade script terminated with an error complaining that
the package was not found.
Now I have a Solaris 2.7 system with no Firewall and the upgrade will not
continue.
As far as I know, SUNWhttp is not required for SunScreen 3.2 so I think
the upgrade script needs fixing.
Does anyone know of a modified/patched upgrade script that
will allow me to continue the upgrade or at least can someone tell me how best to
proceed? I want to be able to retain my old Sunscreen config.

I would rather not have to go through the whole install from scratch.
Any help on this would be great.

Almost certainly none of the above! Try each of the following in this order:
Select 'Reset Safari' from the Safari menu.
Close down Safari; move <home>/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db to the trash; restart Safari.
Change the DNS servers in your network settings to use the OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Turn off DNS pre-fetching by entering the following command in Terminal and restarting Safari:
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false

Assuming you see the above error message in the alert log file, which was your original post, follow the below steps:
1 Get the 'ospid' value from the error
2. Issue the below command:
SQL> select request_id,ORACLE_PROCESS_ID
2 from fnd_concurrent_requests
3 where request_id = 15598;
3. After obtaining the request_id
4, Query it from the front-end using SYSADMIN responsibility
Hopefully this should get you the respective concurrent report/program.

Unable to Sign in analytics After Upgraded obiee from 10g to 11g

Hi all,
I have problem when upgrading catalog from 10g to 11g.
The error is:" Unable to Sign In . An invalid User Name or Password was entered. "
I upgraded following the steps like this:
1.Login EM and check BI server is running successfully.
2.Started the UA.bat.
Select the operation:Upgrade Oracle BI RPD and Web Catalog.
Step by Step,and the upgrade completed successfully.
3.Open the RPD online using the Admintool succefully.
4.But when I Login the BI and view the dashboard with the 10g's user (Administrator),the page appear the error "*Unable to Sign In . An invalid User Name or Password was entered.* "
5.Then I Try to Regenerating User GUIDs
1. Update the FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS parameter in NQSConfig.INI:
a. Open NQSConfig.INI for editing at:
b. ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OracleBIServerComponent/coreapplication_obisn
c. Locate the FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS parameter and set it to YES, as follows:
d. FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS = YES;
e. Save and close the file.
2. Update the Catalog element in instanceconfig.xml:
a. Open instanceconfig.xml for editing at:
b. ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/

d. Locate the Catalog element and update it as follows:

if your using oracle db please make sure your db settings and tnsnames.oRA settings
also try you please try below troubleshooting steps:
1) please check latest error message and find the root cause,
presentation catalog log path:
obiee installed Drive:\Oracle\Middleware\instances\instance1\diagnostics\logs\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\sawlog0.txt file
also check it nqserver.log file
oracle bi server log path ref:
obiee installed Drive:\Oracle\Middleware\instances\instance1\diagnostics\logs\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication_obis1\nqserver.log
2)can you try to login RPD,EM and console by using your weblogic a/c then try to login with some other user.
if its not working then try to delete that users from catlog and check it Check OPMN services are running state.

Create a car (archive file) in CF 9 enterprise which will capture all CF 9 settings like Data sources, Web services etc. Make sure when you are doing this, pop up blocker is disabled.
NOTE : While creating the archive file, give the full name with the absolute path in the package name. For example C:\Test\mypackage.car
Then move this car file into the server where you want to install CF 11. Install CF 11 and then deploy this archive (car) file. All CF 9 settings will be migrated to CF 11 enterprise.
Else, if you want to install CF 11 on the same server where CF 11 is installed, then remove the connector for all the websites which are configured with CF 9, make sure the CF 9 services are running and then run the CF 11 installer and at the end of CF 11 installation, you will get a dialogue box which will ask you to migrate CF 9 settings in CF 11.
Run the Code Analyzer in CF 11 Administrator to check whether any the CF 9 code used in your application is breaking in CF 11 or not

REP-1419: 'beforereport': PL/SQL program aborted.I dont believe payment batches are used anymore as they need to be done via Payment profiles and therefore you will need to use Payment Instruction ids instead. Also the setup at R12 is Mosaic
try including this. as the first statement in the Beforereport trigger. All the banks tables payment tables has changed so unless you have changed these to you will need to adjust these correctly to the R12 tables.

To start the wizard version of the Forms Migration Assistant:
1. On Windows systems, set the environment variable FORMS_PATH:
SET FORMS_PATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\forms
On UNIX systems, set the variable FORMS_PATH as in the example below:
setenv FORMS_PATH $ORACLE_HOME/forms

In Windows, from the Start menu, select ORACLE_HOME | Forms Developer |Oracle Forms Migration Assistant (GUI Mode), or at the command line, start the conversion utility by entering: frmplsqlconv.bat mode=wizard.
or
in UNIX, enter frmplsqlconv.sh mode=wizard.
The Conversion Wizard Welcome dialog displays.
