Upgrading Support Packages

How can I upgrade the support package of MDM 7.1?

It also depends which support pack you are upgrading with.

From MDM 7.1 SP06 and up, multiple instances of MDM are supported on the same MDM host machine.
Each instance must be installed separately and requires a different SID and different listening ports.
From MDM 7.1 SP07 and up, MDM can be installed with SSL. This is configured using one of the following
modes: Unencrypted, SSL or Both. The installation type is configurable in the MDM server ini files.
In the Projects preparation phase you must:
1. Adapt all custom applications that use ABAP API, Java API, or CLIX. These programs can be adapted in
advance.
2. Update and test import and syndication maps. This has to be done in the Dev/Test environment.
3. Delete all pre-7.1 ports and maps from the Productive environment. This must be done before any
schema imports are allowed in the 7.1 Productive environment

Did you mean set a break point in the follow code?(Include ZXCOZU02), I tried set a break point in this code, but It didn't stop .

How to upgrade Support Package for NSP (Netweaver Sneak Preview) server?

hello guru,
I have installed Netweaver Sneak Preview on my notebook. This ABAP Application Server 7 's support package is 12. Can I upgrade it to the newest support package? Can I do it in the normal way, just like normal SAP server, use SPAM?

Upgrade Support Package for one Software Component

Dear Experts,
I am new with SAP Basis Administrator and I have new task to upgrade EA-HR software component from release 600 sp30 to release 602 sp9.
Actually, EA-HR component in Development system already in release 602 sp9 while quality and production in release 600 sp30. This is where the problem started, since there is one SAP Note we need to apply that depends on the release version. The consultant wants to do the changes in development and transport it to quality then production. Since the way to apply SAP Note is vary based on EA-HR release version, the consultant wants the release version of EA-HR in all systems to be the same.
I have download support package for EA-HR 602 sp9.
My question is very basis, how to upgrade EA-HR component to release 602 sp9?

This is a no go... This is why most people call for a development freeze while the system is been patched.

You system is not consistent, transporting data into a system with a different patch set can cause serious problems. You are going to have to tell your consultant that he'll have to wait until the whole landscape is patched to the same level.
Who upgraded the component in DEV??
The note also states that this corrections are available for 600 so there was no need for 602 if you are not planning a EHP upgrade..

Embedded BI - System Upgrade, Support Package application and so on

Since Netweaver '04, SAP R/3 and SAP BW/SEM were separated system.
Now, with Netweaver 2004s and the "embedded BI", they are unified on the same installation.
1)The upgrade operations for R/3 and BW are separated or in the same package?
So, support package installation is cumulative?
2)When R/3 is down for upgrade/support pack---> BW is Down?
When BW is down for upgrade/support pack---> R/3 is Down?
3) System crash is cumulative?

The whole scenario depends upon if you are using embedded BI or a stand alone BI.

???? in Menu Bar after upgrading support packages

Hi All,
I have upgraded the support packages from Stack 16 to Stack 20 for my ECC 5.0
Every functionality is fine after the upgrade. But when our consultant tries to check the material in transaction MB52, in the next screen we see some ?????? in the menu items which is supposed to have some options in letters. The functionality is fine when we click on it knowing the option which is supposed to be there.
Assuming that it is the issue with the GUI, we have upgraded our GUI to 710 patch level 4 which is the latest available. Still no luck.
Can anyone help me with this. This is holding our upgrade on quality.

Hi All,
I resolved this myself. We just need to get to the screen shere the ???? show up and go to SYSTEM >> STATUS
Under SAP Data, double click on GUI Status > STANDARD
Select the Application Toolbar and click on Activate.
This should solve the issue.

SAP BW 3.5 - Upgrade support package from 18 to 21

Hi All,
We are planning to apply the SP 21 for SAP BW 3.5 system.
Currently we are on SP 18.
We had created a Customer message to SAP regarding the Pre-Preparatory Steps before applying and Post upgrade steps . But the reply we got is quite confusing.
In one of the steps they had asked us to delete the Delta queue and delete the Set up tables. But looks like they have got confused with the SAP R/3 Upgrade.
Previously, when we upgraded from SAP BW 3.1 to 3.5 we never touched anything concerned with the Source systems ( SAP R/3).
Could anyone guide me regarding this issue. Also it would be great help if anyone give the Pre-Preparatory Steps before applying and Post upgrade steps.

Just go apply for from SP18 to SP21 directly. Before applying for this better check with BW consultants and also check with ABAPers team.

Upgrade Support Package Manager Version 7.00/0026

We are trying to update the SPAM from version 26 to 29 to accommodate the requirement of EHP4 upgrade.
When we try to update the SPAM it just display's a message "SPAM/SAINT update SAPKD70026 has already been imported successfully"
We did down load the latest spam from the service.sap.com and we tried to upload it from Application server as well as front-end desktop. We did not get any error. But the SPAM update just display this message and doe's noting.

It says SAPKD70026 is already there in effect and you current version is already 26, did you download and extract the latest version 29 as you are saying ?
instead download and extract the latest version 33 or 35

and I hope, you are trying to download as per correct release i.e. 7.00 spam/saint update 700 and that too ABAP version

and be noted that you are logged in the client 000 with a user copy of ddic or with user having sap_all and sap_new authorizations

Hi,
you have to apply the same type of packages as before.
All other are included in ECC, but if you don't use the special services and applications (for example IS Oil or stuff like this), there is no need to apply all these packages.

R/3 Delta queues in support package upgrade

Hi gurus,
Our team needs to apply a support package upgrade to our BI 7.0 (without an upgrade in R/3 source system).
Do I need to worry about SM13 and RSA7 in my source system R/3 or just my data marts inside 7.0?
Or do I need to empty R/3 delta queues before BI upgrade to prevent data loss?

Upgrading the BI Content to 7.03 and Support package 14 in BI client

Hi Experts,
My Production system is having BI content 7.03 and the support package is 1. I wish to import the support package upto 14 as soon as possible for my requirement.
Can anyone please answer my below questions..
1. What steps should be followed ?
2. What should be taken care of ?
3. What downtime should I take ? Should it be for R/3 and BI both ?
4. Should I clear the queues in RSA7 before upgrading the content ?
If some point is left, please write it so that it can be considered in my case.

SAP Upgrade Assitant Support Package Problem 4.7 to ECC 6

Hi all,
Doing an upgrade from 4.7E to ECC 6. Does anyone know what should be the minimum patch level to start upgrade. Basis and Abap Supp. pack is on level 60. HR is on 61. But after starting prepare, it is giving error in version check phase. It is saying Upgrade Assitant the start release configuration is not supported. SAP_ABA : 620
SAP_APPL : 470
SAP_BASIS : 620
SAP_HR : 470
Infact all the support packages are at this level however the kernel is upgraded to 640 patch level 43.
If anyone has the info please help.. If ignored the upgrade assistant ask VALCHK_INI password which searched is nowhere found.

Thanks Eric I had already checked and they are above what is the minimum support pack level for eg SAP_BASIS requires minimum 41 support pack level and i have installed 61. Everything is according or more than the prerequisite requirement. Is this is a database version problem. Shall i go to upgrade oracle first as of now i am on 9.2.0.6.

Applying support package during upgrade [ BW 3.1 - BW 3.5 ]

Hello,
We are performing the upgrade of BW 3.1 to BW 3.5. In the upgrade phase XPRAS_UPG we cam across error and on reporting the same to SAP were advised to apply the support package SAPBW35013 upto level 13, the present level being 9.
Support packages cannot be implemented during an upgrade. On informing this to SAP they replied back saying as below:
"Kindly implement the correction instructions via TA snote mentioned in the note #844007"
What does he mean. Does he want me to apply the notes present within the support packages. If yes how can I apply so many notes manually, is there a better way of doing this.

You just need to apply only the note 844007 to your BW 3.1 system through the t.code SNOTE.
Go to SNOTE
Download the OSS note 844007 to your system.
Apply the OSS note from SNOTE.
The correction instructions will be auomatically applied to your system by SNOTE.

Support package upgrade / SPAU with multiple queues

Hello, We are upgrading our support package level on our ECC 6.0 system. I divided up the support packages into 4 different queues:
SAP_BASIS
SAP_ABA
PI_BASIS
ST-PI
SAP_BW
SAP_AP
SAP-HR
After importing each queue, I had a few things to do in SPDD and SPAU. I created a new SPDD or SPAU transport request for each queue. My question is now what is the recommended procedure to handle these SPAU/SPDD transport requests when you have multiple queues? I plan to define the same queues when doing QA and PRD. Do I mark all of the requests and then when I do each queue, I only specify that particular request? Thank you in advance for your help.

when did you export the different SPAU requests or didn't you export them at all?
If the export happens only after all queues are already imported, this final system state (component version + SP level) is stored in the requests.You are then not able to include e.g. the request for the SAP_BASIS SPs into the SAP_BASIS queue, because the other components are still on the old version, while according to the request they should be on the newer state.
So, the right procedure would be; import the SP queue, do the modification adjustment for this queue, mark the workbench request as modification adjustment transport request and export this request. Then you can import the next SP queue.

Impact of Support Package Upgrade on languages

Dear Experts,
We have our client with SAP CRM enterprise, ISA and MSA implemented in various countries and many languages (HU, PL, CZ, N, GR etc). We would like to know if SP (Support Package) upgrade will have any impact on the languages.
Any pointers or help would be grateful. Since we need this information urgently, any help in this regard would be of great help.

There will be no impact of SP's on languages. We recently installed a few SP's for our CRM 4.0 system and did not have any impact.
