Upgrading the GPU, CPU and RAM of my Laptop n201ax

This maybe is a really long post but please answer because i really need answers for each one of these questions and i really want to upgrade my laptop to the best configuration If i Can.Let me make this clear first.* In the upcoming content the words "this laptop" always refers to Hp Pavilion 15-n201ax*
Okay so first of all i read somewhere that the maximum Ram of this laptop can be expanded till 16gb but the i came up with this link here -http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/I-would-like-to-upgrade-memory-of-my-laptop-HP-15-n201ax/td-p/5146905 And then i came to know that it can only be upgraded to 12gb by reading Page #2 Chapter 1 Description of this Guide-http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04438537.pdfFirst of all i would like to ask is that, 1. Can i buy a ram of any brand but ofc the same clock speed ie 1600mhz?, so can i go for the GSkill 4gb 1600Mhz DDR3 ram?2. Does the size matter to the respective slots? or i can install the 8gb and 4gb ram in any alternate slots? So this was all about the RAM But i need to know if i can change the discrete GPU and APU of this laptop3. And if Yes - Which are the compatible mobile GPU's that i can install by removing the previous one ie AMD 8600M (For example the R9, R7 and R5 Laptop graphics)4. And Which are the compatible APU's that i can install by removing the previous APU ie AMD A10-4655M APU (For example the AMD FX APU for Laptops)5. If i can upgrade the GPU and APU both please tell that does the compatibility matters? like only a specific GPU can work with a specific APU ie like in this laptop AMD A10-4655M APU + AMD 8600M GPU. Please Help Me out, Please. Thanks in advance.

Pavilion 15-n201ax? We are going to need to refer to the Service Manual here: Your Service Manual Officially, it only supports 12 gigs. Your model has a single 8 gig module so you have an open slot. Unofficially, may users here have reported that adding another 8 gigs to make a total of 16 gigs will work fine. But that is something you take the risk of doing, since it is unofficial.  The part numbers for the proper memory are listed on page 42. You need DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM.  If you are going to go official, the 4 gig module is:   691740-001 This is it on amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/HP-691740-001-1600MHz-PC3L-12800-memory/dp/B00CI08FX4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1437948185&sr=8-1&keywords=691740-001 You should just leave the 8 gig where it is and add the new memory in the open slot.  On your model laptop, the GPU/APU is soldered to the motherboard. In order to do any upgrade you would need to buy a new motherboard. You have a whole incorrect idea that the GPU/APU can be removed and replaced and this is incorrect. The term APU means a processor that has video built in so the whole question about compatibility between GPUs and APUs just misses the mark. On some systems the GPU/APU is socketed and can be replaced which serves to replace/upgrade both the processor and video function but as stated above, on yours this involves pulling and replacing the whole motherboard.  There is a slightly better processor/graphics available using the AMD A10-5745M 8670M (2.9 GHz/2.1 GHz, 2 GB L2, 1333MHz DDR3L Quad 25W) for use with Windows Standard. The motherboard part is 734824-501 HP does not stock the board but I found this online: http://www.discounteddealz.com/product.asp?itemid=327740&gclid=CO78y6rn-cYCFQmCaQodOP0GLQ Never heard of this seller and can't vouch but the price is very reasonable for that board. I expected it to be quite a bit more which makes me wonder about this seller a bit. I would advise keeping what you have. It is very strong for AMD and upgrading to the A10-5745 board will only result in a very small uptick in performance at a very high cost in money and effort.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it. Hey sorry but i should have mentioned this before, I live in India and the links you provided are for amazon.comi tried to search on amazon.in and eneded up with this http://www.amazon.in/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=HP+691740-001+4GB%2C+1600MHz%2C+PC3L-12800+DDR3L+DIMM&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3AHP+691740-001+4GB\c+1600MHz\c+PC3L-12800+DDR3L+DIMM Instead, can i get this one ? beacuse the hp one on the above result costs 41% more than the Transcend one below and that's very much http://www.amazon.in/Transcend-4GB-DDR3L-1600-LAPTOP/dp/B00B5LOOJG/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1437984575&sr=1-2&keywords=ddr3l+4gb+1600mhz And last thing is that Will the performance be better if i go for Ram branks like Corsair or GSkill same types of memory?

  • Does it void my warranty to upgrade the hard drive and ram in a MacBook?

Recently a new store in my local mall called Peachmac opened. They do repairs and upgrades. I went there to see about a hard drive and RAM upgrade. They told me if I do it myself, it voids the warranty. I have about 8 months of Apple care left on my Mac and don't want to loose it. My real question is does it void your warranty even though the instruction booklet specifically tells you how to do it? The reason I'm wondering this is because they want $69 an hour plus money for parts. They quoted around $125-$150 (for a 500GB HD and 4GB of RAM). Is this an ok deal? Or should I go for an SSD? I saw Crucial was doing a bundle for a 128GB SSD and 4GB of RAM at my local CompUSA. Which one is a better deal? Thanks!

If you replace the memory, it doesn't void your warranty, but the warranty will be voided if you replace the hard drive

  • Upgrading the hard drive and RAM

Its about time to upgrade this 80GB it has no storage due to running windows as well. I just have a few questions
Will I lose battery life upgrading parts?
What brand HDD due most people go with?
What is the max RAM the macbook can handle?
Which brand RAM has good reputation?
Is 7200RPM noticeably quicker then 5400RPM?
What do I need to do to export all files and software to the new HDD? Can I export windows as well?
    Thanks for your help

OK - one at a time.....
Will I lose battery life upgrading parts?
Not likely much unless you install a huge power hog. The state of the art in hard drives are that equivalent 5400 RPM drives will almost always be more energy efficient, and 7200 RPM drive may be competitive. It's not going to make or break your average battery life.
What brand HDD due most people go with?
Every brand. Seagate, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Samsung, Western Digital, or Hitachi. They all work pretty well. Hard drives are more or less a commodity part these days and all the major players have excellent products as well as duds.
What is the max RAM the macbook can handle?
If you're still running Tiger (in your sig) then it's either 2 GB (MacBook1,1 in System Profiler) or 3+ GB (MacBook2,1 or MacBook2,2 in System Profiler).
Which brand RAM has good reputation?
For what you can get in the aftermarket, possibly Crucial (really just the marketing arm of Micron which is a major memory manufacturer), OCZ, etc. Some people swear by Other World Computing (MacSales.com) which is just a reseller. They have their own "house label" as well as OEM Samsung and Micron modules that they label for warranty purposes. Their label means that they provide the warranty.
Is 7200RPM noticeably quicker then 5400RPM?
Can be. However - testing these things is notoriously unreliable depending on where on the platter the data is being accessed. Overall it should be (all things being equal) but there are many different factors involved including how densely packed the data is on the media. Some newer 5400 RPM drives with higher "areal density" have equivalent (or even faster) speeds compared to older 7200 RPM drives.
What do I need to do to export all files and software to the new HDD? Can I export windows as well?
I haven't tried that myself. It might be possible to clone your Windows partition to another partition on an external hard drive.

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
getting most ffrom my cpu and ram cinfigd in the bios

You can use CPU-Z to check your settings.  I find it best to just use good ole bios overclocking.  Set ram 1:1(FSB/Dram ratio) and FSB to 200 that that should give you 2200Mhz.

I am puzzled by this. The laptop doesn't need the Apple ID - but iTunes does. I could be missing something but ....
Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID?

  • What are the minimum CPU and Memory requirements for R12 Vision instance?

We are in the process of trying to figure out what the minimum hardware requirements are for installing the R12 Vision instance. This Vision instance would only have 5 or less concurrent users. We may have to order a new server and we are wondering what the minimum CPU and memory would be? Oracle Support will not give us this information.
We aleady know how much disk space it will need.

  • Looking to upgrade the video card and power supply in the K330

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade the power supply and video card in the Lenovo IdeaCentre K330 but I need to know if these parts will be accepted by the mobo.
Here's the card name (no link, don't know if theres a restriction to off site links) ASUS 2GB GDDR5 DIGI+ VRM technology Graphics Cards HD7770-2GD5
The power supply name follows: Xion High Performance 1000 Watt ATX Power Supply XON-1000P14F
Thanks for reading, and extra thanks for a good reply

Thanks for replying, I have looked into other PSU's and came up with this: XFX PRO750W Core Edition 80+ Bronze ATX 750 Energy Star Certified Power Supply
Feedback? And main question is, will they both (video card and PSU) be compatible with the motherboard that come standard in the K330?
I don't really have a need for the front panel except the power, and backontrack buttons.
Also, the reason why I'm getting a high wattage PSU is because I might later decide to build my own PC with the upgraded parts, and put the old parts back into the K330

I have an Ada executable that's creating a buffer of data that's being fed to a Labview executable that's displaying the data in a GUI.  We're re-architecting some legacy system hardware and I'm just trying to figure out if this configuration is even possible.

I basically have an Ada executable and Labview executable that currently run on a Sun Machine with Solaris as the operating system.  I'm re-architecting the system hardware and will be getting rid of the Sun Machine and Solaris.  I'm don't have any issues with the Ada executable, but I'm not sure what configurations Labview supports.

Your post does not mention what version of CCX you are on currently: 4.5(x) or 5.0(x). That makes a big difference.
I'm going to hope you're on 5.0(x) since you'll already be on Windows 2003 then and won't have to reformat the server. After performing a backup of your old version, confirming you have a copy of all your LIC files and the PAK from your PUT order, the installation guide will walk you through the actual upgrade process; it has chapters specifically for upgrading from each version.
Also, be aware that none of the CCX versions that were supported with UCM 5.x are supported with UCM 7.x. You are in an unsupported state and I frankly expect that you will have JTAPI-related call problems until you upgrade. You may want to consider hastening your plan to upgrade CCX.
