Upgrading to 11.1.1.4 / Web Analysis

Hi There,
I have three questions.
We had a ticket opened a while back on another issue for Web Analysis and Oracle recommended we upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.4. I see that 11.1.1.4 is a full upgrade across all products (ie. FDM, HFM, Essbase, Reporting, etc.). I am wondering if it's possible to just upgrade Reporting & Analysis or do we have to bring everything up to 11.1.1.4.
My second question is has anyone else upgraded their reports to 11.1.1.4 and was it successful?
My third question is does anyone know if 11.1.1.4 gets rid of the Web Analysis #Div/0 issue when you attempt to use calculations that involve dividing zeroes and missing values.

Generally you need to upgrade all components - so shared services etc would need to be upgraded for reporting and anaylsis to talk to it.
Oracle support would also probably ask you to upgrade all components to reproduce any issues you are seeing before any future tickets were raised.

Not able to open web analysis reports after upgradation

we have upgraded Hyperion 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 version, after this process we are not able to open web analysis reports
These reports are still pointing to old servers so, how to edit this database connection details in the new version??

I think we need to change the database connection details in the Web analysis.
goto file --> Edit --> browse the database connection then change the server name in the connection details.
may be this will help to resolve your issue.

Output from Web Analysis Related Content will not Export to Excel

I have Web Analysis reports, data in which is sourced from an EIS database. I have drill thru reports that are accessible from "Related Content". The resulting report is created fine, but cannot be exported into Excel. Specifically, I'm prompted for the location of Excel on my pc. Once I browse to it, it will open in Excel.
I have upgraded from Office 10 to Office 12, although I cannot say for certain that is when this problem started occurring.
Secondly, there are no other BI+ issues with export to Excel. For example, FR and WA export fine. The ExcelPath in the webanalysis.properties file takes care of that. I'm hoping there is something similar to update for this problem.

Have you tried the print button in the web analyzer it does export the input filter parameters as part of the exported PDF document.
You can include any additional text elements and use a custom export template if required.

Export to Excel in Web Analysis

We are in the process of upgrading to Web Analysis (and the rest of the products for that matter) 11G and we're having an issue when someone tries to export to excel. It pops up and wants the user to drill down to excel.exe so it can launch excel and open the report.
Has anyone seen this before? If so what is the resolution?
I know there was a config fil in Analyzer 7 that we had to update a excelpath variable, but I don't see anything similar in 11g and I can't find a good admin guide for Web Analytics 11g.

With System 9 and SmartView you also have the option to Export to Excel in
Query Read - preserves its connectivity

Drill-Through Error Smart View And Web Analysis

Hi,
After upgrading to Hyperion 11.1.2.1 , I get below error for drill through define from EIS. I get error when performing drill through from Smarview and Web ANalysis.
Error :- [1033] Native: 4006 Error: Internal Essbase JAPI error: [Cannot perform cube view operation. Essbase Error]]; nested exception is:

but now the problem is with FR, we are not able to do the drill through from FR to FDM,

Web Analysis: Percent Function & Missing values

Hi All,
Our users have made some complaints after we upgraded to Web Analysis (from Analyzer) where they're seeing 'Evaluation Error' on columns in reports. It was an easy fix for Sum'd columns where we treated #Missings as '0', however we're having a difficulty with the Percent columns/calculations.
The main problem is users do not want to see a great big Evaluation Error in the middle of a report. Ideally we'd have something like N/A which was small and unobtrusive.
I dont' think we can change the options for Missing Values in the Calc Def because each option presents a different problem: Exclude means divide by nothing, treat as 0 means divide by 0, include means divide by missing. All result in an evaluation error.
Has anyone got any suggestions? The simplest sounding solution would be to somehow change the appearance of Evaluation Error but I don't know if that is possible.

Gotcha. Ok. Have you thought about creating a new hidden calculated ColumnB whereby you multiply the values in ColumnA by -1 and then set your formatting based on the result in ColumnB. If the value in B is positive then you know A was a negative number so you can go from there, in a round about way? I don't have time at the moment to think it all the way out but something to think about. If your formatting involves just colors you could use Traffic Lighting to set the color on ColumnA based on result in ColumnB. Traffic Lighting out of the box is limited but it's a start until you have time to build your own.

Web Analysis is not working

I recently installed Hyperion BI+ in my server and I'm trying to do some reports in Web Analyzer.
My installation and configuration went successfull.
I can open FR, IR ..
I'm trying to open WorkSpace and Web Analysis...
both are not working...
When Im trying to open web analysis using the below URL Im getting error..
http://<servername>i:19000/WebAnalysis/WebAnalysis.jsp
but when I'm using this URL http://<Servername>i:16000/WebAnalysis/WebAnalysis.jsp
I can see the open page.. but the Web Analysis window is not coming.. I'm getting blank page...
and for workspace also.. when I'm using 45000 port.. it is working but I cannot open any reports.. some debug error is coming..
when I'm using the default port 19000.. Im getting network error...
Please help me in this issue..
Do I need to do any modifications in my configuration or property files....
my Java application is Tomcat(default).. databases is Oracle 10G Enterprise Edition.

Regarding Web Analysis- I believe- It's a problem of JRE.
- Just remove/uninstall the JRE from your Currently installed Programs. You may want to reboot the m/c
- Open Web Analysis Studio in the Web browser. Now, since it can't find JRE, it'll set up the relevant JRE for you & you may continue using Web Analysis.
- Please note- Unless you've changed to a different one during configuration, Web Analysis operates on 16000 port.
Check the following regarding Workspace-
- Your service may be down, thus, throwing Network error
- You may've to re-configure Workspace. Start the service & wait for few mins. before opening Workspace.

Issue while opening the web analysis reports

Hi,
One of our user is not able to open a web analysis report with an error messages saying
"Java.Lang.Exception: Unexpected HTTP status code of 500 received from server"
"Document does not exist or no authorization to open the document"
Other users with the same level of access are able to open the report fine and also the same user is able to access the report fine with a test id from his machine.
What could be wrong? Any suggestions please.
The only thing I see here, something wrong with userd ID or password.

Hi,
I had also faced this problem earlier. I was using HFM as data source for WA reports. After searching I found that there was some change at HFM level. Some dimensions/members had been deleted or added in HFM. And I was using those missing members in WA Grid.
I had to recreate my reports again as I didn't get any other way to deal with this problem.
Please shared any other alternative option, if you found while working on this issue.

Issue opening Web Analysis report

I create, with buttons, links between reports in web analysis. Sometimes when I click on one of them in workspace, it doesn't open linked report, but another one. Furthermore this last one is automatically saved as the previous report, and I can't open the original linked report. Any suggestion about this ?

Whatz the source of your Grid? Relational SQL Query (OR) A spreadsheet with Essbase database connection file?
* Yes, the source is Essbase.*
If source is Essbase, it seems- Outline might've got altered when you're trying to refresh the report.
* The outline was in tandem when we tried running this report in WebAnalysis. This outline & WebAnalysis report which is in Dev Server is a replica of the one in Test Server where it runs fine. *
If source is based on a Relational SQL query, chances are that- Query is no longer valid.
* NA as this statement is NOT applicable to our source.*
If it's Essbase, it's also likely that- It ran out of time while fetching the data from Essbase. You may try playing around with the parameters in Essbase.cfg file.
* This might be one of the causes, but I double checked the all the tunning parameters in Essbase.cfg file in place.*
Could you please through more observation on this issue. Let me know if any further information is needed!.

Unable to open web analysis reports through workspace

Hi,
I am connecting web analysis with MSSQL server 2000 and generating reports. I am using essbase 9.3.1 version.
But my problem now is that I can just open these reports from web analysis studio and cannot open them from workspace. In workspace, if I right click on the report and open it from web analysis studio it does open. But it does not open by double clicking the report in workspace. It just shows a blank report on just parts of the report.
The issue is only there for the reports that are getting data from relational db (MSSQL server 2000). The other reports that are using the cube data are fine and opening from everywhere.
Are there any other configuration settings involved in order to open a web analysis report(that uses relational db) from workspace?

Try using the in built config checker:
http://localhost:16000/WebAnalysis/config
This has several tests you can perform to see what's running.

Regarding web analysis data export issue

Hi all,
Iam new to web analysis we had a issue on one of the report
I can open the report and i can work perfectly on the report but when i export the data to excel its showing up as fallowing error
FATAL ERROR: gui report is inccorect
In the same application i have some other reports those are working fine and data is being exported to excel for those reports
What might be going with that report Please let me know if you have any ideas.

As report was exceding 65000 records we have modified the report by adding the pages and reduced the count of output records. So the issue was resolved.

Web-Analysis Get Current Day and Display

Hello,
I have a web-analysis report that should show the current business day.
I thought this can be done by using a substitution variable. Are there any better ways?

Hello -
Yes, you will have to update the Substi Var everyday with the current day. You can do it manualy through EAS or you can try to automate the same. One way is to use maxl script an example below -
login 'Hypadmin' '#########' on myessbaseserver;
spool on to 'mymaxl.log';
/* Setting the substitution variable */
alter database appname.databasename set variable 'CurMonth' 'Aug';
display variable all;
spool off;
Logout;
Exit;
You can call this maxl from a batch file scheduled from windows scheduled task to run every day at say for example at 1am in the morning.

Error Launching Web Analysis Report from the Hyperion Workspace

Hi Everyone
When launching the report as a HTML from the Workspace, the output flashes briefly on screen
The view in the content pane disappears to leave a blank screen.
When I Select View | Refresh. The following result is returned "Web Analysis Information" -1
I have set the report in start up preferences. And Web Analysis preferences set to open as HTML
After logging on again the following error is shown " An attempt to open "Actual vs Budget" Failed
Show Details displays: this.getFocusRoot() is nullor not an object
The reports all display correctly when launched from the Web Analysis studio
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the advise but I have looked into your possible solution and referred to the Web Analysis user guide. I have a number of reports and when selecting the Design for HTML option - a number of objects are valid and should be displayed in the workspace.
After creating reports from scratch - with valid objects - the problem still persists.
Unfortunately, I don't think this provides a solution to the problem.

Performance of a report in Web Analysis??

Hi, I agree with Gerd - there's not much tuning you can do in Web Analysis (as compared to FR).
In looking at the query see if you can:
- move single hierarchy members into the POV
- have children and parent in the same row
- arrange dimensions in inverse outline order (faster for essbase retrieves)
- remove excessive formatting/suppression (or conditional formatting/suppression)
- push report calculations back to the data source
We have also found that using lots of dynamically calculated members also slows down reports, so try and limit the number of these.
Maybe build your report up from the basic report to see which dimensions are causing the issue. Or alternatively start with your report and remove columns ;-)
With regard to wishing to show only 2 items, you could add advanced conditional suppression to suppress rows with values.

Web Analysis Report Not Working in Workspace

Hi all, I try to restate an already posted problem to see if some of you have encountered the same problem, that seems to me a BIG one:
- all the report developed in Web Analysis Studio, which connects to Essbase 9.3.1, doesn't work in workspace, if the Database Connection Property is configured for using the user credentials specified in workspace logon.
If I change the DB to an Essbase 7, it DOES work.
If I change the Database Connection Properties to specify in the preference file the username and password (or to ask the user the credential on report opening) it DOES work.
Any Hint?

Do you import all the reports from webanalysis and delete the database connections to the reports and export it into Workspace, by the time of exporting it will asks you the database connection and the application name.
provide those and try to run again those reports hope will work fine.
