Upgrading to 11.1.2.3 - Enable EPMA or wait?

Hi all, please forgive me if my first post on the forum is a little newbish
I'm in the process of upgrading EPM 11.1.2 to 11.2.3.3 and I'm hemming and hawing between whether or not to use this opportunity to upgrade from classic to epma. I'm envisioning three HFM applications that share some common dimensionality (figure in the 50-75% range of commonality), a planning application for each of those applications, and probably in the neighborhood of a dozen essbase cubes that access various and sundry other data sources. The users ping pong between different smartview connections (to each of the HFM & planning applications) so its important that each of those applications is maintained consistently, so that when there are changes to the metadata (for example) in one application that the other applications be updated as well (if required, as not all dimensionality is the same). My understanding is that EPMA will make that process a little easier on me.
However, one of my colleagues in IT who works on the Oracle GL side of the company informs me that EPMA may already be on its way out the door and that it may be prudent for me to hold off and stay on classic for the time being. Unfortunately he didn't have a lot of information on this, not even the name of what the eventual replacement may be or a release date.
Can anyone recommend some possible options for me?

I thought that it is the other way round? That Oracle aims to stop using classic application and move everything to EPMA...

I have created an EPMA ASO "allow duplicate members application". I want to create an alternate shared hierarchy but all teh shared members are getting deployed in essbase as stored members. Do I need to enable any other property also so that shared members are treated as shared members only and not stored members.

Upgrade to Elements 10 did not enable my PerfectPhoto Suite 8 Plugins

I have been running Elements 10 with PerfectPhoto Suite 6 (started with the free version of PPS 4 that came with E10) for a couple of years in order to use the PPS6 plugins inside E10.
Last week I upgraded PPS6 tp PPS8. Everything worked without exception and all of the new PPS8 plugins were available under the E10 File/Automation menu item.
Yesterday I installed E12. During the installation it notified me that it had found the PPS8 plugins and would install/enable them. After the installation finished [without error] I noticed that the E12 File/Automation menu item was grayed out. However, under Help/About Plugins all of the PPS8 plugins were listed.
Here’s what I have tried so far:
(1) Installed Elements 12
> no automation tools in 12 but they were still visible and working in the old (10) version
(2) Uninstalled Perfect Photo Suite 8
(3) Uninstalled Elements 10 (leaving E12)
(4) Re-installed Perfect Photo Suite 8
> still no automation plugins in E12
Can anyone help me with this?

Sheesh. You won't believe how much time I have wasted on this issue. I exchanged probably 5 emails with customer service but was getting nowhere. After waiting nearly 30 minutes for tech support I finally was able to talk to a tech. The first thing he asked me was "Are you in Expert mode?" There are three modes across the top of the screen -- Quick, Guided and Expert. When first installed the editor opens in Quick mode. The File/Automation Tools menu item is only enabled when you are in Expert mode. Its just that easy.
Sheesh...What a waste of time...

Since upgrading to 10.5.1 and enabling Match, iTunes hangs on launch.

Upgraded to iTunes 10.5.1 and successfully enabled Match. Since the initial upload/loading to the Cloud, iTunes hangs before finishing the launch. Most menu items are greyed out and am unable to perform any iTunes functions. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Does it look like the song is playing at the top of iTunes? Can you see the timer moving?
Also, make sure the volume slider isn't all the way to the left (mute).

Non-Apple SSD upgrade of MacBook Pro and trim enabling

I have a question about non-Apple SSD upgrade of MacBook Pro. I was planning to go and buy an SSD in a couple of days but I have coincidentally come up with a web page mentioning trim enabling to extend SSD life on MacBook Pros. Actually the article suggested that if trim is not enabled, the SSD performance degradation will start very quickly due to a high number of writing and deletion of data to the same location on the SSD. Apple's original SSDs are really expensive, I checked that. Is there anyone who upgraded with a non-Apple SSD and did not enable trim and realize the SSD performance degradation? Is there anyone who could easily enable trim and is using his Mac efficiently with a non-Apple SSD? I will be glad if you could share your experiences. I really want to improve the speed of my Mid 2012 13 inch MBP but I have to be sure before doing that. I am also planning to buy a Samsung Evo 840 250 GB SSD.

Yes you need to install and run TRIM Enabler after your OS X is installed or reverse cloned onto the GUID/OSX extended Journaled formatted SSD from a external boot clone drive of the previous internal drive.
Also you need to run it after some OS X updates and of course upgrades, you'll notice the immediate performance drop if you don't.
It's available over at MacUpdate.com, you'll have to right or control/alt key click to "Open" it to bypass OS X Gatekeeper.
Read these user tips, you can clone your present internal drive to the new SSD using a SATA to USB adapter/Carbon Copy Cloner (not Superduper) and then reboot and hold option/alt key down on a wired keyboard to boot from it and test before making hardware switch.

I have some residual songs from a US account that I want to upgrade to plus but it says I have to wait 6 months before switching accounts back

So a while back I used an itunes voucher to buy songs but it was with a US account (my brother in-laws) Now I want to upgrade that part of my libray to itunes+.
I have allready done this but only for my UK account. To do the US account I would have to wait six months before switching back to the UK one I think.

Website upgraded to CR2008/VS2008, reptviewer-refresh hangs with a wait msg

Crystal Report IX.2/VS2005 website app converted to CR2008/VS2008: compiles clean, runs, but reportviewer-refresh hangs with "Please wait while the document is being processed" message. Can anybody suggest a solution or hypothesis?

I've converted a legacy Crystal IX.2/Visual Studio 2005 web-site application to Crystal 2007/Visual Studio 2008. The compile is free of all errors and warnings. The application operates correctly and the Crystal report-viewer screen comes up with the correct initial page of information. But when I click a Next/Prev/First/ast icon, I get a stuck with a perpetual "Please wait while the document is being processed" message. In addition, the time for the Reportviewer to appear with the first page of the report information is considerably slower (2X, 3X) than it is with the original VS2005/CR IX.2 website project. We are using ODBC to Oracle 11g.
I've searched for hits on the web and in this forum, and have tried various experiments with the registration, etc. - but nothing fixes this for me. Can anybody suggest a hypothesis or solution?

We're using ASP.Net. The website project was originally written using Visual Studio 2005, Crystal Reports XI.2, and VB.Net.
The app is normally run on IIS 6.0, but I am executing the converted version in the Visual Studio 2008 debugger, i.e. without IIS. The browser is IExplorer 8.0.
I have copied and upgraded the project to Visual Studio 2008, Crystal Reports 2008, still VB.Net. It compiles clean, without any error messages of warning. When I run the app, the various report selection pages appear correctly, and the correct report-viewer initial page appears as well (although in 60 seconds versus 15 seconds originally. The main problem is that the viewer does not refresh when I click the next or last icon, a wait message popup appears perpetually. The data access is ODBC to Oracle 11g.
For comparion, below are the assembly sections of the web.config file from both the original and upgraded versions of the project. If there is any more information that would be helpful, I can post or email it. Thanks for looking into this,

Will it mess up my 2010 MBP to upgrade to OS X Lion now or should I wait for 10.7.2?

I have a 2010 Mac Book Pro and I am wanting to upgrade tothe OS X Lion but I am hearing (and reading online) that several other MBPowners are having massive issues, so I am wondering now that a month has passed since Lion came out is it safe to upgrade yet, or will it mess up my computer like it has to several other users? Also I was wondering is this a problem all MBP owners are having or is it just a small group? Thanks

There is absolutely no way to discern that without installing Lion. If/when I install Lion, it will be at least 7.2. Make sure you have two current, tested SL backups before attempting.
Also I was wondering is this a problem all MBP owners are having or is it just a small group?

First time using Mac. Upgrading to MountainLion. Worth it? Now or Wait? (For Photographer)

Hello there. I'm fairly new to Apple Mac. I bought my Mac last year (mid 2011 version) and has been running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I've read about Mountain Lion and some problems, and software compatibility issues as well. But that was like 2 months ago. What about now? Are these problems fixed, and is Mountain Lion stable enough to justify upgrade?
I'm a photographer. Thus I'm using Photoshop and Lightroom extensively.
I'm in dilemma, I'm not sure whether it's worth the upgrade, or should I just stay with Snow Leopard until Mountain Lion is stable enough? Also, i've read in roaringapps.com about photoshop cs5 and lightroom 3 being slow or even crashes after the ML upgrade. Though I don't have any issue running Snow Leopard, I'm just intrigued to install Mountain Lion, given that the ML is stable enough.

Help convince boss to upgrade from CS3 to CS5

I could use some help or ideas to help me convince the bosses that we should really upgrade to CS5.
There would be at least 6 of us and that would be a chunk of change but I think it is needed.
We would like to show our customers that we are knowledgable with new technology, especially on our website and internal site.
A couple of ideas to get my head going about it would be greatly appreciated!

That sounds like a pretty weak reason to me. How would upgrading your non-web savvy InDesign enable you to show knowledge on your website? How would any changes on your intranet show customers, well, anything?
To make the case for the upgrade you need to demonstrate that the added features are beneficial. This depends entirely on what you are doing now with InDesign and how efficient and effective you are with the existing features. I know many organizations that would not benefit from this upgrade because the majority of their staff are only trained to do limited tasks, such as produce or edit a narrow list of documents. More features would either be ignored or add confusion.
If, however, you and your coworkers are power users, or close to it, and if you can show that the added features will improve your productivity and efficiency, then you’ll have made your case.

Post Upgrade from 4.x to 5.0 to 5.1 questions

All, I have upgraded my first sensor 4.x to 5.0 to 5.1. Here is my process
1) Upgraded from 4.x to 5.0 using FTP with this file IPS-K9-maj-5.0-1c-S149.rpm.pkg
2) Installed License Key
3) Using VMS, I went from 5.0 to 5.1 using file IPS-K9-min-5.1-1.zip
4) Now, my switchport is down, down monitoring.
Am I missing a patch?
Did I upgrade properly?
Why is it down down monitoring and not up down monitoring on the switchport that my sensing port connects to in the switch.

You may be hitting a common issue with 5.1.1 where the senorApp process becomes unresponsive. You should not stay at 5.1.1 - you need to upgrade to 5.1.3. If you are seeing this issue then:
1) disable the sniffing interfaces
2) reboot the sensor
3) upgrade to 5.1.3
4) enable the sniffing interfaces

What is up with the Quicktime 7.2 upgrade, it DOES NOT WORK!

Quicktime 7.2 Internet Plug-In does not work with Safari? I am very up to date with all the upgrades to maintain security, and this most recent "upgrade" while may be plugging a security hole for the iPhone does not maintain past functionality. I have searched and done most if not all the suggested fixes (repairing permissions, removing Internet Plug-Ins, installing most up to date flash player, un checking Flash Media MIME setting, even forcing Safari to load w/ Rosetta) and am very disappointed with having to force Safari into Rosetta and shocked to hear the suggestion to abandon Apple altogether and use Firefox. I am using Safari to get away from Netscape and third party software to AVOID conflicts. Worse Firefox does in-fact work making me doubt its' security for internet banking.
When is Apple going to FIX this Quicktime Update so that it works?!

Same here. I don't have in Intel Mac, so it's not a Rosetta issue. I've patiently followed every tip I've read in many discussions. Reinstalled Quicktime. Installed Flash 9 Upgrade. Changed Quicktime settings (unchecked enable flash, unchecked Flash Media under MIME settings). Trashed Quicktime preferences.
However in Safari, on upon trying to open any movie trailer on the Quicktime web site

I get a Quicktime logo with a question mark. In Firefox (which I've also reinstalled) it quits unexpectedly when trying to open a movie trailer. In my own experiments, I've opened another admin account on my computer and when I log in there, everything works fine. You say "well just use that account then", that would mean me having to transfer all my files to the other account which I don't want to do unless someone has a really quick way to do so. Also, in checking the system preferences for Quicktime under both accounts, I don't see any difference. Both accounts are accessing the same software from the root level Applications folder, so why does it work in one account and not the other? Someone help, as I don't think I can read another 10 page discussion on this.

EBS Upgrade from Release 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3 - SLA Issues

Before upgrading our EBS from Release 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3, Patch 5233248 has been installed , and Concurrent Program "SLA Pre-Upgrade Program" has been registered and enabled correctly (See Note : 427639.1 )
While running this Concurrent Program , on EBS 11.5.10.2, through "General Ledger Super User" Responsibility, the program ran several seconds.
Parameters Used :
Migrate all sets of books: Yes
Start Date: 01-JAN-2010
Are there Pre-Requisits while running this Concurrent Program ?
