Upgrading to 4G phones

Hi, this is my situation my wife and I are on a 1400 family plan and we have droid incredibles. My wife is eligible for a upgrade now I am not up until March. If anyone reading this has a incredible you'll know it's a great phone with a lousy antenna and so I get no signal at work. I know the 4G LTE network runs on the 700 MHz band witch has much better building penetration than the current CDMA network. I was looking to upgrade both of our phones in October or November when the rumored droid prime is set to debut so how flexible is Verizon with the early upgrades? Am I going to have to fight to get my new subsidy? Should I offer to payoff the last six months of the subsidy on my incredible? Thanks guys!

It's hit or miss with early upgrades. Certain reps will bump it up (the most I've seen is about a month) and others will fight until their death saying that they don't have that power.
I highly doubt you'll find a rep who will bump yours up a whole six months. If you are the primary line, you *may* be eligible for one last annual upgrade. It will cost you the 2 year contract price of the phone plus an additional $20 fee for upgrading early. Since that program was done away with earlier this year, you will lose any NE2 credit you may have by using your annual upgrade. Again, both of those are only for the primary line, though.
You can't necessarily pay off or "buy out" the rest of your contract - although you can pay the ETF for your line (since you have a smartphone it would cost $350 minus $15 for every completed month of your contract) and cancel your line, then open another one for the new phone. The only catch with that is that there is a 60 or 90 day waiting period after cancelling a line if you want to keep your same phone number.

Family Plan Upgrade to New Phones/Activation

Hi,
My mom is the primary line for our family plan. We have 3 other lines besides hers in the plan. All the phonelines are eligible for upgrades right now, but my mom's line has an extra $50 dollars off upgrade discount.
My question is, if my mom's line is upgraded to a certain phone, does that certain phone have to be activated using her phone number, or could I activate her phone and use it with my phone number?
Reason being is, she doesn't want a fancy phone but her line has nicer phones to upgrade to since she has the $50 discount. I was wondering if she could upgrade to that phone, but then if I could activate it using my phone number (so in effect the phone would actually be mine without my phone number having to change)?

Yes, you can do this. If you order in-store or over the phone, just explain what you want to do to the rep and they will take care of it. If you order online, have your Mom click on the "transfer upgrade" button next to her line and that will start the process.

Early Termination for Upgrading to Smart Phones

I am really frustrated with Verizon right now. I have plan with several smart phones and 2 basic phones. I wanted to upgrade these 2 phones to Smart Phones. I couldn't imagine that this would be an issue. Verizon only earns more money by having me purchase smart phones instead of basic phones. I was told that I can't upgrade until September when the contract on these basic phones is up unless I want to pay a $175 early termination fee per phone. I understand that in general, you need people to stay with the contract for the 2 years in order to cover the price of the phone they were given. In this case, these are cheap phones. I'm sure they have been paid for many times over in the past year. If I upgrade, verizon will be getting $40 a month per phone instead of $20 a month per phone. I might even upgrade the Data plan. Instead I am completely trapped until September. $175 Termination fee would be way more than these basic phones are worth. I am tempted to go to another carrier and start a new contract and let these run out - it will actually cost me less to pay the bill for these phones and not use them than to pay for an early termination fee. Or maybe I'll try one of the comanies that offers to pay your termination fee. Verizon - you are not making sense! P.S. If you want my basic phones back, you can have 'em.

Unfortunately Joe, VZW can't bend the rules just to satisfy you or anyone else. I know you may think that it would be only smart for them to let you out to get another phone plan that will yield them more revenue. However, they're not seeing it that way in your case. Rule are rules regardless of if we like them or not. I upgraded my iP5 to an iP6+ in September. I was less than 2 months on the end of of current 2 year agreement...but because I used Early EDGE I had to give away my phone, which I was 2 months from owning outright, back to VZW for absolutely no compensation just to enjoy the offer of Early EDGE. Fair...maybe not to most. Some people would think that VZW should have just let them out since they were so close to the end...but I didn't see it that way. I understood my agreement when I signed up and therefore I knew I had to uphold my end of the bargain. My point is, VZW makes exceptions for a lot of things...but I've never really heard anyone on here say that they've bumped up an upgrade just because they were asked by the consumer. Best of luck to you with your next carrier...but be advise that I don't think many other carriers are going to bump your upgrade date just because you ask...they'll inform you that if you plan to upgrade earlier than 2 years then you'd probably want to try their version of EDGE...(i.e. Next, JUMP, or Easy Pay)

If your phone isn't being recognized by your computer, you need to follow the steps in this article to resolve that
Also, some basic isolation needs to be done. Does it show up in itunes on any other computers? do you have other cords you can test with to see if it might be the cord? if the phone doesn't show up on any computers, it's likely your phone has a hardware issue

The $130 price is actually $110 and is for 2 situations, none of which involve subsidized contract upgrade.
1) Edge payment plan. Cost of service is $110, but then the monthly phone payment added to that, usually around $25/phone
2) phones out of contract, then it is $110 with no extra charges.
The the costs break down is $80 for data, and $15/line

Switching an upgrade with a phone from a soon to be deactivated device

So this is my situation, we have a MiFi device that is due for an upgrade. I have a phone that is not charging anymore and my upgrade isn't for a couple months. I know I can transfer the upgrade to another phone so that isn't my question. We finally have a reliable internet service and the contract for the mifi is up. We decided that we are going to get rid of the mifi since we no longer need it (we haven't done this yet). Can we use this upgrade on my phone without having to commit to another two year contract with the mifi? I'm guessing not but I want to know if its possible or not. Any input would be appreciated!

If you use the upgrade, you're still signing a two year contract on the line that had the upgrade available.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Try another cable

Verizon refuses to honor $10 off upgrade from regular phone to smartphone incentive

After upgrading from regular phone to smart phone that was advertised for $10 off last december, customer service dragged feet for over one year with no response only to come back stating that the offer is no longert available (duh) so they cannot honor the discount which was the only reason I upgraded in the first place. Thus, they made a substantial change to the plan affecting my bill and refuses to refund my overpayment and threatened to cut my lines if I do not pay the full amount. Anyone have another reqource to get my reimbursement without losing my account and ruining my credit?
