Upgrading to Boot camp 3 to get audio to work

I have a Macbook running Windows 7 and Leopard and the audio will not play on the Windows side. After some reading, I see that I need to upgrade to Bootcamp 3.0 in order to get audio to work in Windows 7. However, this does not appear to be an available download.
1. Can 3.0 be downloaded from somewhere?
2. If not, will simply upgrading to Snow Leopard correct this problem?
Thanks.

If your audio is handled by RealTek, then you have to go to their site and grab the latest Realtek audio driver.
You do not want to disable.
Uninstall or rollback, maybe.

  • Upgrading to Boot Camp 5.0 from 4.1: Would it require a re-install of Windows (Win7 SP1)?

I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini (OS X 10.8.3) with Boot Camp 4.1 and Windows 7 SP1 installed. I mainly work on Win7 and would like to continue doing so. My question is: Would upgrading to Boot Camp 5.0 require me to re-install my Win7 or does it work like a simple update? I certainly do not want to waste any time having to re-install my copy of Windows and all my content as it is working fine, but would like to install the latest Boot Camp drivers if it is no problem doing so.

Thanks mate, update to Boot Camp 5.0 done! Had a issue at first which didn't let me run the update, but this was resolved by downloading (from Apple's support website) and re-installing my (now previous) BC4.1 drivers again. Think it has something to do with the previous BootCamp.msi file that allows the BC4.1 drivers to be uninstalled first before updating to BC5.0. Got that tip from a diffrent question thread on the support website. Anyway, thereafter running the BC5.0 update was no problem. Takes a little while for everything to get fully updated on the next restart, but all good. Cheers.

boot camp 4.0 getting error the installer disc could not be found.

See if Windows 8 RP x64 works as an experiment.
    Usually slowest burn speed will.
I am assuming that smething changed but there are I presume a number of other people who have, and folks with new MacBook Air too.

  • Boot Camp/Windows XP Pro doesn't work after 10.5.8 Update

I installed the 10.5.8 update, but then Windows would not boot up under Boot Camp. Anyone else have this problem? I tried several times and even went into Safe Mode to see if I could fix anything. Unfortunately, I'm not a Windows expert, so I really didn't know what to do in Safe Mode.
In the end, I reinstalled Windows via the Boot Camp Assistant and so far, everything works again. I only use 3 programs in Windows so luckily, I didn't lose anything. I just copied my data files over in MacOS and reinstalled the 3 programs in Windows, but it was a time waster! Please fix this Apple!
Just a warning to other Boot Camp users...

  • Can't get audio to work on my Panasonic Plasma smart TV when I connect a Toslink optical mini to Toslink optical digital to my mid 2009 MacBook pro?

My MAc book pro 5.5 is mid 2009, Processor speed 2.26 GHZ MacOS X VERSION 10.68 Leopard. My Tv is a Panasonic Plasma smart TV TC-P50ST60. I ordered from Amazon a Toslink optical mini to Toslink optical digital cable meant for Macbook pro 2009 forward. I changed the settings on both TV and Mac but I still can't get audio to work on TV. I believe my Mac can't see the audio output from the TV. Any advice with step by step instructions on how to fix it? could it be they sent me defective cables? Thank You for your help.

When I spoke with Apple I made sure I told them that my Macbook Pro was Mid 2009 and he ensured me again that those to cords will work. I realize that with the newer models it does put through both sound and audio but because of my model I don't think it does obviously because I have played with both Sound on my computer and Sound on the TV and nothing works. Sometime Apple can be good but man some people lol he even told me he verified my computer model on the computer and that's what came up.
So new question would be what kind of cable would I be looking for to get audio? Anyone before I call back to Apple and see what they say hahah

  • How to install Windows 7 on MacBook with Tiger + Leopard upgrade using Boot Camp

    Hi,
I've had Vista installed on a separate partition on my MacBook for a while, but wanted to upgrade to Windows 7. I've completely wiped the HDD, re-installed Tiger, upgraded to Leopard and installed Windows 7 using boot camp from within OSX. However, I now can't boot back into OSX - I believe it's because I don't have the latest version of Boot Camp within Windows 7 (it doesn't appear on the task bar), but I also don't have a full copy of Leopard, only the upgrade disk.
Is there any way to (a) boot back into OSX (I've tried holding down the option key and this doesn't work) and (b) installing a version of Boot Camp that will enable me to switch between both operating systems as I was when Vista was installed & without having to purchase the full copy of Leopard?
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Elliot.

Try to boot from the 10.4 disk then and "Repair Disk". If you can, then try booting from the 10.5 disk and do the same.
Have you tried holding down the C key also when trying to boot from the Install disks? It could take 30 seconds to a minute or more for the C key/Option key reboots. The Mac DVD HAS to be the OS installer disk not the applications installer, etc,. Sorry if I keep bringing this up.
You have to keep holding it down the whole time it boots, either it will bypass it and reboot into Windows or it should get to the boot loader window with at least Windows showing up.
If you can still boot into Windows with no problems then Windows SHOULD show up in the boot loader window. (C key/Option key) It's hardware related, it's the computers manual way of looking for a bootable OS if there's no OS installed yet.
Don't forget to disconnect any USB devices until you get it fixed.
Also try to boot from the Windows  installer disk and "Repair Windows" and see what happens.
Other then your DVD drive may be on it's last legs, I can't really think of any reason you can't boot from the Mac DVD's.  All the other post's I searched for eventually got the DVD boot working, even 10.6 and 10.7 are having that issue, tho rarely.

Hi, ...........inserting the Leopard disk once in Windows to install boot camp and it says that the version on the DVD is only compatible with XP SP2 or Vista.................
Don't run the installer this time, if a window pops up to "Run" or "Open",  just open it. If it doesn't open the DVD and look for the BootCamp.exe. Right click on the .exe (or whatever it's called) and select the trouble shoot compatibility mode and select Vista. Yes, I know you have W7. See if that works.
It may have buggered the Mac OS side so you may have to get DiskWarrior (worked for some) or the like in order to fix it. It would definitely be useful in the future.

  • Installing Windows 7 "Upgrade" using Boot Camp 4?

I've run myself into a bit of a dilemma and I'm hoping there is a work around... I have a MacBook Pro that came with Lion and Boot Camp 4.  I understand Boot Camp 4 does not support running anything earlier than Windows 7.  After going through the whole process and installing the full version of 7 on Boot Camp I realized when I got to the part where Windows wanted a license key that my license is only for an "upgrade" and therefore said it wasn't valid.  I have Windows Vista that I can upgrade from, but I apparently can't install Vista with Boot Camp 4, and I've read I cannot downgrade to BC3.  I'm trying to avoid buying a new license key for a full version of 7.  Does anyone know if there is a way to make this work?  I hope I have explained it properly... pretty much a catch 22!

OK, here's what you do.  I'm assuming that you've got the partition laid out and your drivers ready:
Insert your Win 7 Upgrade DVD and hold down the C key while restarting the Mac  This boots Setup
Run through Setup once, formatting your Boot Camp volume.  For this go-around, use a Custom install
You will get to a point where you are asked for your Product Key.  Skip this request now!
    Install the Boot Camp software
Next, go back to your Win 7 Upgrade DVD and allow the AutoRun.  Click Install Now on the window that opens.
You're in Setup again.  This time, do an Upgrade.  You should be back at your Desktop when this runs through.  If asked for the key again, skip it.
    Click Start > Computer
    Now click System properties
At the bottom of the System Properties window is a link, Change product key.  Click this link.
Enter the Upgrade key now while you walk through activation.  It should be accepted this time.
We've just tricked Windows into thinking it was upgraded, thereby fulfilling the license requirement.  This method works because the installer makes no check as to what specific versions of Vista or 7 the upgrade will qualify on.  In this way, it is possible to "clean install" an upgrade copy for about $100 less than a full copy.

  • Software Update does not detect the upgrade of Boot Camp to 3.1 for Windows

I want to install Windows 7 HP 64 bit. I invoked Software Update so Boot Camp Assistant could be upgraded to ver. 3.1 that has Win 7 support. It said my system is up to date. I have Snow Leopard 10.6.2, but I still have BC 3.06, not the new 3.1.
When I went to Apple support site to download the new version in 64 bit, the download turned out to be a Windows executable file. I cannot install that in the MacOS. How do I get the necessary upgrade to 3.1 so I can use Boot Camp to dual boot. I have to install XP first so I can use my Windows 7 upgrade DVD.
    Thanks

Thanks for your reply, but I am still confused about two things. First, how do I obtain the updated Boot Camp Assistant so I have the 3.1 compatibility for Windows 7? Second, I read in the Boot Camp guide that unless I have an earlier version of Windows already dual booting with OSX, that I should only install Win7 using the full retail DVD rather than the upgrade. I have an unused copy of XP and I already have the upgrade Win7 package, so I thought I would do a quick basic install of XP and then do a custom install of Win7.
Will Boot Camp react badly if I try to use the upgrade Win7 as you suggested, doing a custom install without entering the product key and then immediately reinstalling the upgrade over itself a second time?
Thanks, I really appreciate your help on this. I am very new to the Mac world.

  • Hi i am trying to install windows to my macbook through boot camp and i get this message Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.!!!what can i do???please help me!

Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server. this is the message that i get a few days now that i am trying to install windows through boot camp to my macbook!does anybody knows what i can do????

You keep it on the usb stick for after you boot into Windows. From Windows you install the Windows Support software on the stick. Do you realize that you need to buy and install Windows? The Windows Support software you downloaded is only the Windows drivers for your hardware.
Read the Boot Camp installation instructions and help guides located here: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

  • Boot Camp (and OS X) audio issues

I've had my MacBook Pro (late 2013, Retina display) since November 2013. I installed Windows 7 on a Boot Camp partition at the end of December.
I've noticed that only the high-frequency speakers are outputting when I'm using Windows. I don't normally use the MacBook's speakers (I use headphones outside and my monitors inside). I think my speaker drivers updated recently. A "hardware installed" bubble for my speakers popped up a couple days ago.
I've checked my speaker configuration in Windows and the speakers are indeed in quadraphonic mode. Clicking the Test button triggers all four speakers, but when I apply configuration settings and exit, I don't hear any low frequencies.
Also - all 4 speakers are outputting in OS X, but they tend to distort at higher volumes. I'm a little upset. -Okay, more than a little. This is my first Apple computer. This is supposed to be a very reliable machine, and yet even in OS X I'm getting speaker problems. What can I do to fix all this?
(Side note: in Windows, programs that use ASIO4all only output through the high-frequency speakers, and this has always been the case - as in since before my speakers started going weird.)

    I'm only using stereo signals.
I tried setting my speakers to stereo yesterday. Only the high-frequency speakers make noise if I do.
And as I already said, the low-frequency speakers make noise if I test them in quadraphonic mode in Windows 7.

  • I installed windows 8 before installing Boot Camp 5(currently have  4) with 32 bit version win 8.  Anything I can do now to upgrade to Boot Camp 5?. .

I installed Windows 8-32 bit before installing Boot Camp 5 (currently have 4). Is there anything I can do now to install Boot Camp 5 then re-install Windows with the 64 bit version?
I am hoping that I do not need to delete the partition and start all over.

Boot Camp 5 drivers can only be installed in 64-bit Windows 7 and 8 versions, so first you have to install a 64-bit Windows 8 version.
Note that Microsoft doesn't support upgrades from a 32-bit Windows to a 64-bit version, so you have to do a clean install, losing your applications, but you can keep your data, stored in "Windows.old", a folder at the root level of your Windows volume. Insert your Windows 8 DVD, hold the C key while your computer is starting and install Windows in the Windows partition.
After installing Windows 8, install the Windows support software for 64-bit Windows 7 and 8 versions

  • Boot Camp V2.1 gets HOT

I'm not kidding. After updating to V2.1 my temperature at boot up is 20-40 degrees higher! When I load up my online game it now goes to 180F before the fan kicks on. Before it only went to 140-150 and little fan was used. This is serious and needs to be fixed.
I am using Microsoft Vista Business x86 SP1
I also learned that its better to update to SP1 before going to Boot Camp V2.1. I got funky errors last time.
Any programs out there to control my fans? I don't like that input remapper.

You know I have a similar fan issue with Vista on MBP. It starts off hardly noticeable then allows laptop to get so warm it's has to play catch up so it speeds way up! But, I think Apple may be right. Apparently Windows may not be adjusting the fan properly. Because if you have ever owned a dell or a Gateway or any other PC laptop. The fans tend to cycle on and off high speed. Their really is no variable speed like Apple tends to do to keep noise down. So this is a educated guess. But it does appear at least in Vista it's unable to vary the fan speed properly. Too bad, but let's face it. Microsoft never designed Windows XP or Vista to run on a Mac. Apple has just made this possible and Microsoft says OK fine with us $$$$.

  • Have to kill pulseaudio after boot the get audio to work

I have a Logitech G35 USB Headset and I have this annoying problem where I have to kill pulseaudio with "pulseaudio -k" to get it to work for most apps.
Audio only works right after boot in a few apps, like VLC and Firefox with Flash Player (e.g. youtube). But for most other apps, like Chrome, Amarok, Spotify, etc. I have to kill pulseaudio first.
