Upgrading to Catalyst 7.2

Hey guys,
I currently have Catalyst 7.1 installed on my PC for my ASUS EAX1950PRO 256MB graphics card. I've been holding off installing the latest Catalyst software (I'm a wuss...shoot me) but I think I now will. Can someone give me the EXACT procedure to follow for doing that? I mean do I have to uninstall 7.1 first, reboot and THEN install 7.2? And by installing Catalyst, will that update the drivers as well? Running Windows Vista Ultimate by the way.
Thanks for your help.

It's easier, a lot easier, to just...
Download Catalyst 7.2 drivers from Here (32-bit) or Here (64-bit), and update them.
Start the installer > click the "Update" button > Sit back while it does everything.
Now THAT is what I'm talking 'bout! While I'm sure that DOK's instructions are correct and efficient, I much prefer yours
Think I'll try that. Thanks a bunch.

  • Upgrading Flash Catalyst V1.0 (CS5) to V1.5 (CS5.5)

Does anyone know how to upgrade Flash Catalyst V1.0 (CS5) to V1.5 (CS5.5).

Well yes, but doesn't mean that no one is using it anymore. Its still a quite good tool e.g. for creating skins. Wouldn't it be nice gesture to provide the 1.5 upgrade serial ... for free?

  • CS5 upgrade install Catalyst problem

I purchased the CS5 Master Collection Upgrade because I wanted to get the full CS5 Version of Flash Catalyst. I had previously had the beta version of Flash Catalyst on my comptuer. Before Installation of the CS5 upgrade, I tossed my beta version of Flash Catalyst in the trash and emptied the trash.
When shown the choices of products to install with the CS5 installation, I am not given the option to install Flash Catalyst CS5 (there is a red x next to this option and it says “A prerelease version of the product is already installed”.) even though a search for any remnants of the previous BETA version can not be found.
I have shut down and restarted the computer. and I spoke with Adobe technical consultants in India (or wherever they are)  for an hour.. this situation was not in their reference which they repeatedly referred to to no avail, so they told me I must e-mail Adobe from the internet.
Speaking to someone on the other side of the world is bad enough but when the people from India or Bora Bora, or wherever, put you on hold while they refer to their references for an hour then can not help you and tell you have to send an e-mail for a more competent level of support,  it is even more frustrating. Furthermore,  having to correspond by e-mail for a more competent level of technical support even though I had just spent over $1,000 on an UPGRADE, is most disparaging.
I hope that Adobe will  make my installation of Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5 possible soon. But in the meantime, has anyone else had this problem?

This issue is addressed in the FAQ in this post. See if that works for you. You'll want to remove all prior installations of Flash Catalyst.
All of the Adobe products have their own uninstaller script, so you will want to run that instead of just dragging the program folder to the trash.

Is there a pricelist that explains how i can customize my Creative Cloud Suite with BC?

  • Kernel upgrade + ATI catalyst drivers = X not working

    Hi all!
Since yesterday, my system worked perfectly, but I did a full system upgrade and, like every time the kernel upgrades (in this case, to 2.6.37 version), the module fglrx didn't work anymore. I reinstalled both catalyst and catalyst-utils, doing exactly as the wiki says and running aticonfig --initial to create the xorg.conf file:
    Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "aticonfig Layout"
    Screen 0 "aticonfig-Screen[0]-0" 0 0
    EndSection
    Section "Module"
    EndSection
    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "aticonfig-Monitor[0]-0"
    Option "VendorName" "ATI Proprietary Driver"
    Option "ModelName" "Generic Autodetecting Monitor"
    Option "DPMS" "true"
    EndSection
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]-0"
    Driver "fglrx"
    BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "aticonfig-Screen[0]-0"
    Device "aticonfig-Device[0]-0"
    Monitor "aticonfig-Monitor[0]-0"
    DefaultDepth 24
    SubSection "Display"
    Viewport 0 0
    Depth 24
    EndSubSection
    EndSection
But it seems that there  is some problem with fglrx module that causes a floating point exception, as it says in Xorg.0.log...
I've tried to install catalyst again from the repository and the AUR but always getting the same error.  I've been searching in forums and googling but nothing worked. I even fixed the DisplaySize on "Monitor" section because I read that there was a bug which gave this error, but this didn't work either. I would appreciate any kind of help, I'm totally desperate...
    Thank you!

Have you tried this advice from the wiki?
Please ensure that in the "Screen" section you have "DefaultDepth 24" and there is a "DRI" section with "Mode 666" in it.
Also, if you're desperate, you could give xf86-video-ati a shot.

  • Well, upgrading to catalyst 12.6 broke everything...

So just recently I updated to catalyst 12.6, and now everything is screwed up. I have 3 monitors, and the configuration is really messed up now such that my rotated monitor is no longer rotated and there are random artifacts all over the place. It kind of looks like what happens when you first install catalyst and do not generate an xorg.conf file.
It also looks like Compiz if failing to start (no window borders)... generating a new file with aticonfig --initial doesn't appear to help whatsoever.
Anyone know what's up with this? I've looked around online, but I can't find anything useful really. My card is a 5000 series card (5570 I think?).
I can post my xorg.conf file if it can at all help remedy this issue.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Your Xorg.0.log is the most likely file to remedy it.

  • LMS3.2-Swim: can't upgrade 2960 catalyst using ssh

    Hi,
Customer has LMS 3.2 on windows.
We can't upgrade 2960 using ssh, using telnet is ok.
    There is no firewall.
You will find debug log for 2 devices:
    - 2960-H2-B1-2 : upgrade by ssh failed
    - 2960-H2-B1 : upgrade by telnet is ok
all 2960 devices upgrade by telnet are ok
all 2960 devices upgrade by ssh are failed
    You will find debug log.
    Many thanks,
    Elisabeth

Given the timeout problem, you are likely encountering                                                                                                                     CSCsu51740. The problem is that SSH causes RME to lock up, then the job times out.  The problem is fixed in 12.2(50)SE1.  The workaround is to upgrade to 12.2(50)SE1 using telnet, then revert back to SSH for future upgrades.

My card is mobility radeon hd 5700, I'm running on x86_64 system. I'm using aticonfig generated xorg.conf. I will provide any other information if needed.
    I've tried:
    - to downgrade to catalyst 12.8 and xorg 1.12 (screen just freezes after trying to get to X, only poweroff button works (system catches the signal and shuts down softly - no errors in Xorg.0.log))
    - to use catalyst-total 13.1 / catalyst-generator 13.1 (Xorg.0.log says something about *not* compatible module - i can try it again and give you the whole log, it is probably another problem)
    - to use open-source drivers (poor performance, overheating)
    - to check nomodeset option (present at all kernel images in generated grub.cfg)
Unfortunately, I could not find any similar issue solved in past few days...

Downgrading kernel to 3.7.4 actually worked for catalyst 13.1. Anyone knows what could be wrong for linux 3.7.5?
Edit: catalyst-test 13.2 beta works with linux 3.7.4.

    Folks,
We are looking to upgrade the Catalyst 4500 Supervisor Engine 8-E(IOS XE Software). As of now we are running on 3.3.1XO and as per the Cisco notes version 3.3.2XO which is suggested version.
I would like to find some comparison documents on both these version and establish if there is a need to do the upgrade. What are the fixes that have been done in this version.
    Thanks,!!

    Hi Nikhil,
Please find release notes of version 3.3.2XO below which can provide you the details to upgrade.
Mainly you need to refer the features it supports and resolved cavets (which means the bugs resolved fro the earlier version on to this.).

  • Upgrading Catalyst to 15.2, missing commands from config

I am wondering if someone can give me a quick answer to this. I recently upgraded our catalyst from IOS 12.x to 15.2. I noticed that there are some config items that went missing in the upgrade. I am guessing they are depreciated, or unnecessary (as most are 'no' commands) but I want to make sure that their omission will not cause any greif when we go to install the switch. If I try to put the commands back in, they Catalyst looks to take them, but they do not appear in the config when I do a Sh run.
    The commands are:
    no ip route-cache cef
    ip classless
    Under our BGP Config:
    no synchronization
    no auto-summary
    Thank you for any help!

    Wow.  Where do I start?
The easiest way is to enable 802.1x with PoE phones and watch your phone go nuts!
Next, play with interface templates and watch your CPU go to the roof.  And then when you try to schedule a reload, guess what happens?  CPU shoots to the moon.
Ahhhhh ... I love Cisco IOS' QC.
I love it `cause they introduced new features (Good!) but then the bugs we've encountered could've picked up during Day 1 of testing the IOS.  But it was not.  For the last three years, I've tested numerous IOS in the 15.X range and so far only one stands out.  I can't find any excuse whatsoever to want to try using the new 15.2(2)E.  I hope to see this code improve when it hits 15.2(2)E4 or later.
And for the record, 802.1X and PoE always brings the WORST in an IOS.  Disable both and the appliance works well.  Enable both and you'll learn to swear like a Navy man.
