Upgrading to Cloud in order to use Lightroom on my iPad????

I'm a Lightroom 5 user, the non-Cloud version.  I'm interested in using Lightroom Mobile on my iPad.  Do I have to use the Cloud subscription version of Lightroom on my Mac in order to use Lightroom on my iPad or can I stick to my old (non-Cloud version) of Lightroom 5?  If yes, are there any advantages of using the Cloud version of Lightroom on my Mac instead of the standalone (non-subscription) version I already have?

  • Upgrading Mac Mini in order to use iTunes

    Okay, here is my issue.....
Bought the wife an iPhone 4, tried to sync with an old iTunes version on her Mac Mini running OS 10.4.11.
iTunes said we needed to download the latest version (v. 10.7) in order to work with the iPhone. Tried to download the latest version but could not because our OS was outdated.
Researched online and discovered I had to purchase a current OS disc (retail version) as a OS system disc from any of my other 3 Apple computers would not work. Apparently the discs only work with the model they came with.
Went to Apple Store to inquire what to do. Told I did indeed need to buy a retail disc but they do not sell them. Have to order from Apple Care. Also informed that my Mac Mini Intel Solo Core, 512 MB RAM didn't have enough memory for the OS 10.6.3 Snow Leopard disc. That I needed at least 1GB of RAM. Apple does not install memory in that computer anymore and referred to 3rd party vendor.
Went to 3rd party Apple vendor and had them max out the Mac Mini with 2GB of RAM.
OS disc arrived today. Tried to install but says not enough space. Read the specs on the side of the box and it does indeed say the installation needs 1GB of RAM but also states it needs another 5GB of RAM...I don't know what for?.....would have been nice of the Apple Genius to tell me that before I went to the trouble and expense of upgrading the old Mac Mini.
In any case, here is my new question....if I get an external HD in order to have the space to install the OS 10.6.3, so I can download iTunes v. 10, in order to be able to sync my wife's new iPhone 4, so she can actually enjoy all the phone can do....will this all work or do I need to trash the computer and just get a new one for her? Does running the OS off an external HD slow down the running of basic computer functions?
boy, it would be nice if all of this was backward compatible and the iPhone would have worked with the older version of iTunes...maybe it wouldn't have all of the latest and greatest but we didn't need that...but we do need it to at least work as intended.
I'm getting a headache from all of this but I thank you all for your expertise and your time.

Yes, I think youre confusing RAM Memory with Free Disk Space, (virtual Memory & storage).
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

It's been pulled from the online store & Apple Stores, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.
Call Apple Sales...in the US: 1-800-MY-APPLE. Or Support... 1-800-275-2273
    Other countries...

Honestly, I hate this obslescence deal, but to be truthful, Core Solo AND 2 GB of RAM isn't going to be anything but disappointing in use.
And I'd avoid thenew Minis  & iMacs like the plague, I'd look for a used older model than 2012s, mybe even a 2009 model.

No. iTunes Match is separate, it just has a 25,000 song limit.

  • Can I use Lightroom on my iPad in creative cloud?

I am new to this so I hope I'm not asking a dumb question...if I get cc with Lightroom can I
Edit photos on my iPad or only on my PC or laptop?

Only on your PC or laptop.
Lightroom is still a desktop application which requires either Mac OS X or Windows operating systems.

  • How to use Lightroom Mobile on iPad

Tried everything. Tried to find Adobe Lightroom Mobile app in the Apple store. Couldn't find it. So downloaded to PC. Obviously, that doesn't help with the iPad. I have Creative Cloud membership. I just want to be able to view the slideshow that I made on my PC in LR on my iPad.  It should not be so difficult!
I can't even find a "community" to enter this question in! Oh this sucks. Why is it so damned difficult? Am I that DUMB?

LR Mobile is an adjunct to LR Desktop, not a standalone product, and does not have the power or storage to handle raw files.  LR Mobile synchronizes things from and to the Desktop version of LR through the Adobe cloud and the Desktop version is where the master catalog and original images reside.

  • Using lightroom mobile for ipad

My subsctiption ends in five days. I would like to export these finished pictures into my ipad so it does not stay with lightroom. However I do not see an option to save these pictures in "camera roll" or anywhere external from the program itself. Does anybody have an idea how to export these images?

If no one answers, Google can probably help.

I would like to use Lightroom.  I have Windows desktop, Galaxy S5 phone(android), and iPad.  Is this all compatible?

Lightroom 5 is supported in Windows 7 or newer. You will be able to use Lightroom Mobile on the iPad, but Lightroom Mobile is not yet supported on Android devices. That support is suspected to be added sometime in the future. Also, take note that you must have a creative cloud account in order to use Lightroom mobile.

I am using lightroom 5 and would like to upgrade to lightroom 6. I am not interested in the subscription based craetive cloud model. The website keeps pushing me to the subscription based model. Can someone guide me on how to just upgrade from 5 to 6 (desktop version and not the cloud subscription version)?

    Hello,
there are informations about your interests here: http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-lightroom-6-cc-direct-download-links.html >>> See: Importantly, this new version continues as a downloadable desktop product and is available either with a standalone perpetual license (called Lightroom 6) or via subscription (called Lightroom CC). It’s the same exact program and free trial download below, but the name is changed to reflect the differences in licensing and bundling, as well as the addition of integrated mobile apps & services and future feature updates.
From there you will find a download link.

  • I frequently use Lightroom 3.6 for tethered capture on location. If I sign up for Adobe cloud and upgrade to Lightroom 5, do I have to be online all the time to use it? In other words, can I still use the program off-line?

I frequently use Lightroom 3.6 for tethered capture on location. If I sign up for Adobe cloud and upgrade to Lightroom 5, do I have to be online all the time to use it? In other words, can I still use the program off-line?

    Yes.
The only difference is the installation method and the ownership verification. The program still is installed on and runs from your local machine. You only have to hook up to the internet every 60-90 days to verify ownership.
    From the FAQ
Do I need to be online to access my desktop apps?
No, the desktop applications in Creative Cloud, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, are installed directly on your computer, so you don’t need an ongoing Internet connection to use them.
An Internet connection is required the first time you install and license your apps, but you can use the apps in offline mode with a valid software license. The desktop apps will attempt to validate your software licenses every 30 days.
Annual members can use the apps for up to 99 days in offline mode. Month-to-month members can use the software for up to 30 days in offline mode."

  • How to change from Lightroom 5 creative cloud to using Lightroom 5 CD.

I downloaded the Lightroom 5 Trial. Then After the 30 days was up I ordered the Lightroom 5 Cd. I installed the CD but I am unable to use lightroom, it continues to say I need to upgrade my subscription. How do I update my program so I can stop using creative cloud and just use my Lightroom CD

did you uninstall the trial version Lightroom you were using Before installing your CD version?
they are licensed differently, if you buy the perpetual license version you should uninstall the trial version before installing the perpetual license version. Works fine after that.
personally I'd uninstall LR completely and then reinstall your CD. Erosion. That should sort it.

Must I upgrade Creative Cloud Free membership to continue using LR 5 ? If CC is not a requirement to continue using LR 5, how then I should cancel the free membership so that no further requests to upgrade to a paid CC membership are sent to me?
    thanks

Simply uninstall LR via installer/Contorl Panel/Finder.
Then sign out of CC Desktop.
Sign back in to CC Desktop and wait for the apps to refresh to confirm Lightroom is not installed.
Then activate your stand-alone Lightroom product with your serial number.

  • Using Lightroom Cloud to Sync Catalog Between Two Machines

I have use of so many cloud services including the 20gb that Adobe gives me.  Is there a way i can sync my catalog on the cloud so that i can have all my metadata on both my laptop and desk top?  I also have 300gb of cloud storage though Copy.  I would just like some recomendations on how best to go about it. Thanks

    Hi Pat,
Using Lightroom Cloud to Sync Catalog Between Two Machines
If you’re running Lightroom on a laptop during your location shoots, you might want to take all the edits, keywords, metadata, and of course the photos themselves, and add them to the Lightroom catalog on your studio computer. It’s easier than it sounds: basically, you choose which catalog to export from your laptop, then you take the folder it creates over to your studio computer and import it.
You need to decide whether you want to export a folder (all the imported photos from your shoot), or a collection (just your Picks from the shoot). In this case, we’ll go with a collection, so go to the Collections panel and click on the collection you want to merge with your main catalog back in your studio. (If you had chosen a folder, the only difference would be you’d go to the Folders panel and click on the folder from that shoot instead. Either way, all the metadata you added, and any edits you made in Lightroom, will still be transferred over to the other machine.)

    Thanks!

Have been using Lightroom on my Apple computer for years. Now, ever since upgrading to Apple's  Yosemite operating system I get an error message (150:30) every time I try to open a lightroom file. Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Also how do I subscribe to Adobe's Premium Support? Every time I've tried (through contact support) I just get taken on an unending loop.

I think we need a lot more information.
Exactly what does the message say?
Exactly what files are you trying to open?
Exactly how are you trying to open them (what menu command or button or mouse action or keyboard shortcut)?
And lastly, what version of Lightroom are you using?
