Upgrading to commercial/retail version from staff version

I purchased a staff copy of Design Suite CS6, but would like to upgrade it to a commercial version some day (if I need it for freelance work). Is that possible? And how does one go about doing that?
OR it sounds like staff/faculty/studen copy is already eligible to do commercial work, is this true?
Can I ever upgrade OUT of a staff/faculty/student copy or am I locked in until I purchase a full new disc? It would be nice to install it on my desktop and laptop, and currently it can only be on one computer as per the agreement I read. Just thinking down the road for future possibilities.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, S&T versions can be upgraded by buying the commercial upgrade, but now with CC that's pretty much a moot point, since there are no standalone upgrades anymore. At best your version might be good for some discounted months on a CC subscription, but naturally, in 3 years that may not be relevant at all, either. And yes, you can do commercial projects with S&T versions.

  • How do I upgrade from the Lion Developer to retail version

I have the deverloper version of Lion and I want to updgrade to the retail version. How do I do that?

This is a better question to be asked in the dev forums.
But if you have the latest developer release, it should be the same version as the GM 11A511.

Install more RAM in the computer; the Mac needs to have at least 2GB of RAM and should have 4GB or more first.

    1. in physical connections part can i use the same work schema
    2. Can i use same contexts created or do i need to create everything as new and then try?
    Thanks,
    Rp.
    Hi,
As you mentioned that you just upgraded the database, so the data is same and schema is same you can connect with the same work schema.
Yes, you can use the same contexts , but need to do Reverse Engineering for your new database.
And about data server, i think you also have no need to create new data server, if hostname, sid and port etc are same as these were with R11(consult with your DBAs regarding it)

  • I cannot download info from my banking site since upgrading to the last version of Firefox

I can no longer download parts of my banking info since upgrading to the latest version of Firefox. Prior to this I had no problem bringing up statements. Now it gives me giberish. The bank says it supports up to 3.0 version, but not the later versions.

I think you must download and install the other supported version(except the latest 9.0.x) which is '''3.6.25''' from here:

You say you have iOS 7. If you are a developer you have access to the private OS 7 developer's forum

Otherwise you are on your own

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
    what fixes have you tried?
how is the EHD where the library is located formatted?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Hi there. Can a MacBook from mid 2007 running OS X (10.6.8) be upgraded to a later version? If yes which one and how can I get it please? Many thanks. Franck

Hi there. Can a MacBook from mid 2007 running OS X (10.6.8) be upgraded to a later version? If yes which one and how can I get it please? Many thanks. Franck

10.7 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store.  The price is $19.99.
You must have at least a Late 2006 model 2,1 MacBook.
    The model 2,1 (Late 2006 & Mid 2007) can use 3gb of 200 pin 667mhz PC2-5300 RAM
    The model 3,1 (Late 2007) can use 6gb of 200 pin 667mhz PC2-5300 RAM
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly. You can put two 2gb RAM sticks in the model 2,1 but it can only use 3,3gb. This is a hardware limitation and cannot be changed.

    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/faq/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-3-g b-memory-limitation-details.html
OWC tests have found that there is a slight speed increase with having two 2gb sticks in rather than one 1gb and one 2gb. the model 2,1 is in the gray lines at the bottom of the graph. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Memory_Benchmark/Apple_MacBook/
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

You need Snow Leopard before you can go to Lion...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements...

  • Since upgrade of aperture, my photos from a year ago are not in library.  On time machine, they are there, but I cant transfer them to todays aperture library because it says the old version is not supported.  Please help!!

Since the upgrade of Aperture, my photos from a year ago are not showing up.  When I go to time machine, they show up in the library, but I cant transfer them to my todays aperture because it says the old program needs to be updated.  How do I get my pics from a year ago transferred to todays Aperture?  Please help!!!!

You will be restoring the old Aperture library from TM, having it on the Desktop is fine.
Once the restore is finished you will have the old Aperture library in that folder. Now you want to open this library by double clicking it (the library). This will open Aperture on it and Aperture will  tell you the library needs to be upgraded. Let Aperture upgrade the library.
Once the Library is upgraded to the latest version of Aperture you can do want you want with it. Once you have gotten to this point if you still need help post back.

  • How to switch from Dev 4 to retail version?

I have the Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (11A494a) on my 27" Imac. It seems to be very buggy. Is there an easy way to sitch to the retail version?

Normally a developer  has access to a Reversioner, to get the installer to think you have the last public release version of the OS. Then the new version will install.
In your case, there is no Reversioner available, for a pre-release version of Lion.
It will need to be an erase / install.
You will require an external bootable disk with the installer on it.
I suggest cloning what you have using Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC),
Booting from the clone (Hold down the Option key at startup and select the external).
    Go into Apple Store
Purchase a copy of Lion (Holding down the Option key, select Purchases and then click on the Installed icon)
Make a copy of the installer in another folder, because the original gets deleted after the install.
Use Disk Utility to erase the existing computer. Run a disk repair too.
    Install the new version.
Migrate your data and apps back to the computer.
(They should be compatible having come from a Lion installation, but check for updates anyway. Especially Flash, Java, antivirus, Perian etc)
When you are happy with the new version, clone it back onto the external disk so you have a legitimate 10.7.2 bootable backup with an installer on it.

I have an old version on my iPad 4.3.3 and can't figure out how to upgrade.  Per the manual "Software Upgrades" is not an option from the General Settings.

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

What do I need to do to upgrade my macbook pro 17 from OS X 10.4.11 to  OS X 10.5.8

Locate and purchase a copy of Leopard. They may be found on eBay and Amazon.com. Be sure to only purchase a retail package.
Or you can save a little money by upgrading to Snow Leopard which costs $29.00. If you dec8de to purchase Snow Leopard, you can still purchase a copy from Apple's online store's telesales agents.[1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775.] Ask for a Sales Representative.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
