Upgrading to cs5 on a mac from cs2 on a pc

Does anyone know if this possible? I've currently got cs2 installed on my PC and I'm buying an iMac in the new year and want to install and upgrade to cs5? Is that possible or will I have to buy the full version again?. Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's possible. See here.

upgraded to CS5 running Yosemite (mac os 10.10), upgraded scanner Epson Perfection Photo 700 software--when i click on "import" CS5 is not showing scanner--what do i have to do to get it to recognize scanner?

    Hi Gene,
Persistence pays off: so initially, CS5 was not recognizing my Epson Perfection Photo V700. I reloaded the Epson software twice and using the mac menu for printers and scanners tried to get it to operate. no dice.  Finally, on the third try, I went to Finder to look under applications software, found the epson software and clicked on that, and finally got the Epson scan window to open. So now, even tho i can't open it from inside CS5, i can still get the image into CS5 easily by clicking on "open" and going to finder. (Still good to know about Vuescan tho.)

  • Upgrading to CS5.5 Design Prem from CS 4 Design Premium. Serial number not working.

I am upgrading to CS5.5 Design Prem from CS 4 Design Premium. I am getting an error message that the serial number is not for a qualifying product.  How do I contact support to fix this?

you'll first be prompted for your cs5.5 serial number.  you will then be prompted for your cs4 serial number.
enter the correct number at the correct time.  otherwise, Error "The serial number is not valid for this product" | Creative Suite

  • Upgrade from CS2 (PC) to CS5 Master Collection (Mac) ?

Hi,  I'm currently having CS2 Creative Suite Premium (PC version), and I'm  interested to upgrade to CS5 Master Collection (Mac version). Am I  entitled for upgrade using Adobe product no 65065593, or should I use something else?  I'm a company user (not home/education). Best regards, Marti

In order to upgrade crossplatform, you'll need to call Adobe directly.

  • Xerox Stapling Capability From Illustrator Lost with upgrade to CS5

I work for a company that manufactures pinback buttons. Our process is as follows: Our customers upload the artwork for their buttons. We layout up to 35 pieces of that artwork on a single 8.5x11 sheet in Illustrator then send that to print a stack of sheets depending on the quantity of the button order. For example if the order was for 500 1" round buttons, we layout a sheet with 35 pieces of artwork, then print a stack of 15 pages. Which will give 525 pieces of artwork for production. Our printer, a Xerox 700 Digital Press, is set to finish with a double staple on the left. Then we manually staple the other 3 sides, so the stack is held secure when the art is die-cut from the sheets.
We upgraded to CS5 from CS3 last year. When we had CS3 we could send a print job of 15 pages from Illustrator and we would get a stack of 15 pages stapled. Now printing from Illustrator CS5 the stapler is bypassed. We only get unstapled stacks. We will get stapled stacks from other software, ie: Word, Acrobat, Mail, just not from Illustrator. The printer's stapling capabilities were a very helpful feature as it would ensure a better registration from sheet to sheet than stapling by hand. This leads to less reprinting to compensate for crooked, or off-register die cuts.
Something in the upgrade to CS5 killed our stapler from Illustrator. I've contacted Xerox on this issue, and since I can get it to staple from other software, they sent me to Adobe. I contacted Adobe, who didn't understand my issue at all. "But sir, there are no settings for stapling in Illustrator." Thank god for outsourcing. Which brings me here.
    Any Ideas?

    I'm currently running OSX 10.6.7 with Illustrator CS5 15.0.2.
The latest print driver available for our printer is from February of 2010, which we are up to date on.
Here's a screenshot of the Command Workstation settings for the virtual printer I'm sending to, you can see that left double stapling is selected on the fifth line from the bottom:
I just did a test print using these Fiery Features settings from Illustrator:
The result was six pages unstapled.
Now, I've created a pdf of the same document. Printing from Adobe Acrobat Professional 8, with these settings:
The result is a stapled 6 page stack.
The workaround solution is to create pdfs and print from Acrobat, but this adds unnecessary steps and time to our process.

  • Problems installling Photoshop CS5.1 on Mac OS Snow Leopard Version 10.6.3

Hi I am having problems installing photoshop cs5 on a mac from a disk, when it gets to 26% it just freezes and I have to force an eject of the disk.
I am very new to macs with little training so any ideas much apprepriated.

You might want to update your OS (apple-menu > Software Update) and are you sure you have enough free disk space?

  • How do I upgrade to the new operating system from OSX 10.5.8

I have an older laptop and cannot upgrade to the new version of itunes unless I upgrade my operating system.  Can someone please tell me the steps I need to take to upgrade?

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, it's already running the newest OS it can.
If it's an Intel Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update twice.
It isn't necessary to upgrade past 10.6.8 to use the current version of iTunes. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.

  • Upgrading from CS2 Suite (Win) to CS5 Suite (Mac)

Over the last few days I have twice called Adobe UK sales and have been assured that I can easily upgrade my Windows CS2 suite to a Mac CS5 suite.
I was told that all I have to do is enter the CS2 Windows serial number during the CS5 Mac installation and it will be accepted.
However I have found no mention of this anywhere on the internet.
Has anyone been given the same or conflicting advise by Adobe for this type of scenario?

Adobe are even contracdicting themselves re CS5 upgrades.
I was told by the UK sales team that I wouldn't need to submit a letter of software destruction upgrading from CS2 Windows to CS5 Mac.
However, the Adobe on-line representative said I would.
I can understand this requiurement for a straight platform swap of the same version.
However, if I am upgrading, I surely need a valid suite to upgrade from?
If I destroy my CS2 I will no longer have a valid suite any longer!
I have also found out that PhotoShop Mac CS5 will apparently no longer have the ability to print printer profiling targets with colour management disabled. Supposedly Adobe labs are developing a separate utility for printing profiling targets but with no ETA. This means that I will have to continue to use an earlier version of PhotoShop anyway!
With these uncertainties, contradictions and complications I have now cancelled my order.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Upgrade install problem Photoshop CS5 from CS2, MacOS 10.6.8

    Hello,
My wife was using Adobe Photoshop CS2 for a long time.  We purchased a Photoshop CS5 upgrade in 2010 through Amazon, but she never installed it after reading about problems other people had with the upgrade.  It was still in its shrink wrap seal until last night.
Then she recently went to upgrade her Mac laptop to 10.9 Mavericks from 10.6 Snow Leopard, and discovered that Photoshop CS2 will no longer work since CS2 was a PowerPC application.  No problem - we thought we'd just finally install that CS5 upgrade first.  The Amazon web page where we bought the product stated that this was a valid upgrade path, so we thought we would not have a problem.  However, when we went to do the install, we received an "Inconsistency in the installer database" error.
Going to the support live chat, we were told by Yaseer that we could no longer upgrade from CS2 to CS5 because the CS2 "server" was shut down, and we should go to the forums for help with this instead.
Now what?  We own a legal copy of PS CS2, and bought a legal upgrade copy of PS CS5 with the understanding that this was a legal upgrade path, purchased from a reputable dealer (Amazon), but now it doesn't work.  There must be something that can be done here.
I'm not using my wife's Adobe id which she used to register her product, but I can provide that id as well as the serial numbers for CS2 and the CS5 upgrade.

    run the cleaner, http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
    restart your computer
    then try to install cs5.
if you're prompted for a cs2 serial number and your cs2 number fails, use the one linked from this page:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l

  • Upgrade from CS2 Education to CS5 Full Commercial?

    Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I have a question regarding upgrading to CS5. I don't think there's been another question on this specific question I have. If there is, sorry for posting it again.
Basically, I have a copy of the CS2 Design Premium Education version. Now I would like to upgrade it to the CS5 Design Premium Commercial version. I didn't need to work from home previously, so never really needed the commercial licence for my laptop. But now it's time to get one so I can work anywhere.
I know there is an upgrade from CS2 to CS5 version that I can purchase but it doesn't tell me if it can be used on the Education version too.
Can anyone confirm that the upgrade does work on an Education version too?
    Thanks heaps.
    Leanne

You brought up a few issues here.
    (1) If you bought an upgrade that you cannot use, please call Adobe Customer Support (via phone) and see what can be done to let you return the software. There should not be any problem if this is within 30 days of purchase, but even if not, they should be supportive. If the first agent you speak to can't assist, ask for their supervisor.
    (2) The copy of CS3 that was installed on your Mac by your employer is likely a volume license which cannot be upgraded via a standard upgrade license. Note that if your employer installed the software using their volume serial number, that software license belongs to your employer and not you personally. It that employer is in fact your ex-employer, you no longer have legal rights to use that software which was licensed to your ex-employer. (Note that purchasers of volume licenses cannot unbundle a volume license by either giving away copies such as to former employees or sell such copies!)

  • How do i install cs5 upgrade version from cs2?

    hi
unsure whether this new win8 machine is 32 bit or 64 bit
not sure if my upgrade from cs2 to cs5 purchase is 32 bit or 64 bit

    Thank you John,
Very helpful.  Unfortunately, when it came to the point that the install asked for the earlier version, it said it was not a valid upgrade version.  In seeking an answer to this problem i went onto Adobe chat and was informed that
Laishram: I have checked and see that the serial number for the CS2 is not a valid upgrade path to the CS5 product.
Chris: hmmmm. everything i read is that the upgrade version was for cs2. i just purchased it because the computer i had died and i bought a new one. i knew that my upgrade to CS5 version wouldn't work without an earlier version so I bought CS2 on ebay just two weeks ago. what can i do?
Laishram: I am sorry CS2 is not a valid upgrade path to the CS5.
I couldn't get more info from Laishram as to WHY is wasn't a "valid upgrade path" and I don't know what "not a valid upgrade path" means but, i'm guessing that i did something wrong when purchasing CS2.  I was told that i could use the upgrade version(of CS5) that i purchased (to upgrade FROM CS2 to CS5)  to upgrade to CS 6.  So I'll have to do that I reckon.

  • Upgrade from CS2 to CS5?

I just upgraded to a new Intel-based Mac Pro after my old 2006 Pro PPC bit the dust. I know I cannot run CS2 on the new machine, and was pricing out the replacement software.
I cannot find on the Adobe site if I can use my old CS2 license (it is Design Premium) to apply toward purchasing the CS5 upgrade. And also looking at the new software out there, for those running OSX 10.7 what has your experience been with Lion and CS5?
Thanks in advance for your advice and thoughts.

CS5 is no longer available. You'll need to upgrade to CS5.5.
    Here's the CS2 to CS5.5 Design Premium Upgrade:http://amzn.to/kZOsu7
Your timing is pretty good. CS2 is the earliest version eligible for upgrade pricing. Should the current policy hold, you'll be out in the cold when the next version ships.

  • Upgrading from CS2 'Premium' to Photoshop CS5

I have CS2 Premium and find that I have no use for much of the suite's products, though I use Photoshop quite a bit. I would like to upgrade to the new Photoshop CS5 and was wondering if I can do this from CS2 Premium? All I see in the "upgrade from" choices are Photoshop CS4 Extended, Photoshop CS3 Extended, or Photoshop CS4, CS3, and CS2.
So I don't know what to choose if I can even choose any of these upgrade paths.
    Anyone know?

You cannot upgrade individual suite components.

  • Can I remove photoshop cs2 after I have upgraded from cs2 to cs5?

Can I remove Photoshop CS2 after I have upgraded from CS2 to CS5?  I upgraded from CS2 to CS5 quite a while ago and I have never removed CS2.  Will it affect CS5 to remove the old CS2 if it was an upgrade?

If I were you I would just delete the installed  Adobe CS2 folder. Adobe CS2 uninstaller my remove settind CS5 made to your system after CS2.   The CS2 uninstaller may try to restore settings to a point in time where there was no Photoshop installed on your system.  If you do a CS un-install you may need to then Install CS5 on top of itself the update cs5 for the install will not have the updates you will be back at CS5 level .
