Upgrading to Full Quicktime Version (worth it)

Hate to spend the $ and I can't tell from reading what the advantages are in upgrading. I am still pretty to new to Macs and still getting used to Imovie HD.....I know Final Cut is overkill, but is Quicktime and what would I gain by buying it?
Any comments will be appreciated.

I, for one, an annoyed by the fact that I upgraded to the pro version. A few weeks after I got my "key," they upgraded QT pro. In order for MY QT pro version to work I HAVE to upgrade again, and pay the full price AGAIN. Since I don't have the money to to that, I've chosen not to get the upgrade. But here's the kicker: my REGULAR version of QT doesn't work now. I can't even watch web sites that have QT files, nothing.
Apple, if you're listening, this is unfair business. I shouldn't have to pay $40 or so how ever often you decide to upgrade your software in order to keep MY software that I paid for working. I should get to choose whether or not I want to upgrade mine.
By the way, Deadlast, I didn't feel as though the upgrade was worth it in the first place, and now, since I can't even use my regular version I REALLY don't think it was worth it!

  • Reader demands upgrade to full professional version

I am a home computer user running Windows Vista on a Sony VAIO laptop, and have tried the readers in versions 8 and 9. Both work fine when I try to open and read a PDF file stored on my hard disk.
Issue: When I come across a PDF document on a web site, the reader displays part of the page in a new window (I set the settings to "open documents in new window") for a few seconds. Then I get a big dialog box that says I must upgrade to the full professional version to continue. If I close that dialog, the window with the PDF document disappears. If I try the upgrade, it asks for about $500, and I cannot afford it. The dialog is attached.
Question: Isn't the reader supposed to be free? I only need to read PDF files (mostly on web sites), and sometimes the web-admins set up their pages such that you cannot download the PDF file to your hard disk. Can somebody help me set up the reader so I can only "read" the files for free, as touted by Adobe. Thanks in advance, - srtinc.

You can download the free Adobe Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/

  • After upgrading to Yosemite, I had to upgrade my iPhoto, now the full res versions of my images cannot be found.

After upgrading to Yosemite, I had to upgrade my iPhoto, now the full res versions of my images cannot be found.  I had created a book to print (before upgrade) but, after the upgrade the book can't be created as I get the message that images can't be found. However, if I search for the filename I can find the image. I tried repairing library as per support instructions but it hasn't helped. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

    Do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - apply Option #4, Rebuild Database.

Problem viewing forms. This form is not supported with the current version of Adobe Reader.
Upgrade to the latest version for full support.
What exactly do I need to do?

That means you were probably using Adobe Acrobat to view PDF's. Acrobat is totally unnessary, you can view PDF's in Preview (Applications - Preview).

  • Queries related to Redwood Installation / Upgrade to Full version

    Hi All,
    We Need some help.
We have couple of question related to redwood installation, kindly help us.
We have SAP Central Process for Scheduling (Redwood 6.0.2.7) basic version installed on our Unix server.
We are now planning to migrate to the SAP CPS full version and have already procured the license. SAP added the installables at the marketplace under - Installation and upgrades - My Application components - SAP Partner products - SAP CPS Scheduler (Full) after the procurement. We have downloaded the installables now.
    My questions are:
    1. How do we now upgrade the Redwood OEM version to full version? Because, we had mailed to SAP with the OEM license to change it to full version, but then SAP replied to us asking us to send them the full version license. How do I get that? Does this file (register.txt) gets created once we start the installation of Redwood full version? Because we had assumed that by buying the full version license, we would just need to send the OEM license and it would be changed to a full version, but its not so. How do we go about from here. Do we do a new installation and uninstall the basic version?
    2. Also, if we are to do a new installation, how do we get the register.txt file which we need to send to SAP for key generation?
We are very new to Redwood. Any pointers would be highly appreciated.
    Awaiting your response.
    Thanks in advance.
    Warm Regards

  • Do I need full ($29) version or just upgrade ($10) version?

I bought my Mac in Dec 2008 and have kept up with all updates. 10.5.8 is the OS version. Will I need to purchase the full ($29) version of Snow Leopard or just the upgrade ($10) version?
I read that if you bought your Mac within the last couple of months you could get the upgrade but all others needed the full. I don't know if that's right, though.
    Thanks.

It's the same box. If you bought a new computer prior to SL, you just get a discount on the price. I ordered one for my new MacBook Pro with the discount, but I bought another one (online) for my Mac Pro and it arrived today (28th). Although the discounted one was ordered a couple of weeks earlier, it was only shipped today.

  • Purchase upgrade or full version?

Since I've upgraded to a new MacPro, Aperture has been misbehaving (exporting problems, freezes, slowness) even though I did a clean install of the the app on my new machine. Will the upgrade version of Aperture 2 fix my problems or should I buy the full version? The trial version I downlaoded works great. The upgrade version looks good to me so my projects and folder stay organized, etc. I'm not clear as to whether or not the upgrade version will debug the App for me. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I did the upgrade using the trial version. Seems to me that the result is a clean install of Aperture 2 -- indeed the 1.5.6 version of Aperture is still on my hard drive.
So, if the trial works for you just buy the upgrade key and you should be fine.
Before doing that, make sure you copy your library just to be safe. I assume you've already renamed your 1.5.6 version of Aperture as they instruct you to do. Then, once you buy and enter your key for the trial, just change your preferences for the library location and point it to your real library rather than the trial one. (Or, right click on the library and select Aperture 2 to open it). Once you do that that particular version of your library will be converted to Aperture 2. But, you still have a copy of the one that was created with the older version of Ap 2, just in case.

  • TS1702 I just upgraded a full version of "ISO Fits" app from App Store 2 days ago but the upgrade wasn't successful. I reported the problem to the developer but had not received any reply. What should I do?

I just upgraded a full version of "ISO Fits" app from App Store 2 days ago but the upgrade wasn't successful. I reported the problem to the developer but had not received any reply. What should I do?

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • Why is it that free games are usually require to purchased the upgrades or full version not free at all?

Why is it that free games are usually require to purchased the upgrades or full version not free at all?

Cause the people that developed them didn't do it out of the goodness of their hearts, they did it to make money.
I don't go for many games, but one thing to look for is a lot of 'top in app purchases' then read the reviews.
they kinda fall under a technicality, the shell of the game IS free, but content isnt'. Just like the app to read a magazine is free, but the actual magazines aren't.
And i'm sure the app store loves to see so many 'free' signs on the cover, so they can advertise taht there are tons of free apps...which technically there are and they're not lying. Not until you did into it do you see that free app  is not the same as free app with free content.

  • I upgraded to the iPad Version of Pages

I just wanted to add my voice to the already swarming people about my utter disappointment in the "Upgrade" to Pages.
First of all,  When I saw it was a Free Upgrade, I immediately became suspicious.  Apple only ever gives Free Upgrades or Free products when it knows its not going to go over well. (Bumper Cases), etc.   And it being free, they believe that they can defang the descenters.
Yet, I still held out hope that it would be an upgrade and ADD enhancements and streamline an already GREAT word processing program.    I Stopped using MS Word years ago, because I liked Pages so much more.   Once I got it installed, i found out, that I had upgraded to the iPad version of Pages.
Here is this revolutionary device, the iPad.  Following the iPhone as the best new device in the History of Ever.  AND IT WAS!...   What made it GREAT is that in general, it ran REAL software.   Not the nerf'd web browser of similar devices that really never worked.  Steve Jobs made it part of the WOW when he said..  Here is this new Device.    IT RUNS THE SAME SAFARI as on the Mac (same general capabilities).  It Was Awesome.
Fast forward to now, I have had an iPad since the iPad ONE.   Im an avid user of all apple devices.  When they released Pages for the iPad,  I forked over the $20USD to purchase it thinking HEY, it would be just like using it on the Mac.    Well, it wasnt.  It was a nerf'd version.   But even still that was sorta understandable.  A good word processor for a tablet even as advanced as the iPad, was sure to ge a difficult challenge.     Subtle updates, and such to Pages on iPad helped, but I can honestly say,  Pages for iPad never worked for me as THE PLACE i wanted to go to build complex, full feature documents.
So Apple in their thinking outside the box manner (which usually turns out good things), goes and "upgrades" the Mac, Full-Featured version of pages to resemble the iPad version which had never been a great word processor to begin with.   What a mighty disappointment.
I understand that these days, Apple no longer innovates for the sake of innovation, their innovation is driven by the market.   For such a great company, with such a great legacy, it is such a disappointment.
Sorry Apple, you got this one wrong...!

When I checked out the on-line help for Pages, it distinctly mentions two types of document layouts:  blank-template-based (like a simple letter) and placeholder-based (like a pamphlet).
With blank templates, you just type as if you're in a standard word processor (perhaps my use of the word "freeform" didn't help matters much).
With placeholder-based templates, you insert text boxes for where you want text to appear.
Here's some wording from Apple's own on-line help file:
If you’re using a blank template, just start typing to add text to the body of your document. If you’re using a template with placeholder text, first select the placeholder text; whatever you type replaces it. As you enter text, new pages are added automatically to accommodate it.
And as far as I can tell, new pages are NOT automatically added when using placeholder text.

  • Upgrading from an older version of Robohelp.

I have just sat on the telephone for over an hour with no response!  The company I work for own an older version of Robohelp Office - Versions 9.0/9.2 and 2002, we have all the serial numbers, licence numbers etc, and we would like to know whether we can just purchase the upgrade to the new robohelp or whether we have to purchase the full licence.  Any help would be great!

I'd be rather surprised if it was right. The product upgrade page says only version X5, 6 and 7 can be upgraded. Click here to see it.
    Read the RoboColum(n).

  • I have bought Lightroom standalone version 5 recently. After the release of Lightroom 6, I would like to upgrade to the latest version. How can I do?

When I try to upgrade to the latest version from 5.7 the price shows as 50% of the full price. Is this the way to proceed, I meant the price is too high for the upgrade. Any solution to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

$79 is the standard upgrade price. If that isn't suitable then you will have to stick with your present version.
