  • After upgrading to iOS5.1 on iPad I cannot upgrade apps

Really frustrated, I have an iPad 1 and have been using it very hapily for over a year.
I foolishly decided to upgrade to ios5, and since then have nothing but problems.
Apps that I have downloaded from the AppStore as free trials work, but when i try to upgrade to the full (paid) version, they just have the thinking spinning circle on the screen, and these are new apps/games since the upgrade and I dont even get the prompt for my ID and password coming up
Any help would be gratefully received
    Thanks

Download and install any free app. That should do it.

  • HT4972 I recently upgraded to ios5 on my iPad,  I have lost all sound but YouTube and that still work

After upgrading to ios5. I have lost all sounds,  y?

Have you got notifications muted ? Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • Upgraded to ios5 on my ipad but lost library of apps that were loade.Any ideas?

During upgrade of IOS5 I had to restore original settings and lost the apps I had before upgraded. How can I restore old apps ?

If you have an old back up, restore again from that.  If not, and if the apps are still in your itunes,(and they should be) simply do a sync.
Ifmthey are not there, or will not load, you can redownload them from the app store.  As long as you are using the same apple id as you did when you bought them, they will download for free.

  • HT4972 Downloading iOS5 on an iPad 1

I cannot seem to upgrade to iOS5 on my iPad 1 and don't even have a "software update" option under my general settings. Help! I need to download some apps ASAP. Can someone assist?

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device. It will be updated to the newest iOS release supported by the device’s hardware.
The maximum iOS version for the third generation iPod touch and original iPad is 5.1.1.

I have an iPad 2 and want to upgrade to ios5 but have no pc what can I do?

You can't do it without a computer, although once you get ios5 that necessity will be gone. I would recommend taking it into the apple store. They will do it for you.

After the upgrade to ios5, I can no longer use my iPad to make purchases on ticketmaster.  Does anyone have a solution?

Apple changed MobileMe to iCloud and then restricted iCloud to 10.7 users only unfortunately
If your machine is a 64 bit processor Intel Mac you can upgrade to 10.7 for $29, however a lot of your 10.5/10.6/Rosetta based software could cease to function, especially third party hardware drivers for printers, fax machines, all-in-ones, scanners etc.

Also depending how old the machine is, if it can accept 4GB of RAM (preferred), older video card, may not run 10.7 very well or stable.
My advice is to keep at 10.6.8, get a web based email service that's plaform/hardware neutral, forward your iPhone emails there. Gmail/Yahoo Mail for instance.
When your ready for new hardware and all new software, then buy a new machine.
If your going to go to 10.7 on your present hardware, I advise you clone 10.6.8 to a external drive first, that way you can c boot off the 10.6 disk erase the drive completely (necessary to remove hidden Lion Recovery Partition) and option boot off the 10.6.8 clone and reverse clone.

  • IPad 1 Upgrade to iOS5

I have been waiting to upgrade my 1st generation iPad to IOS5 because even a cursory Google search shows that there are more problems than happy customers that have attempted this update. Of course, the happy ones rarely take the time to post in user forums, but the amount of gried striken posts in various communities, this one included were too much for me to take the plunge.
Today finally I had to because 5 of my favorite apps no longer work with IOS4.
I have been a fairly loyal apple customer for many years, even though as a programmer and Web developer, I own computers and pheripherals from many vendors, but I always appreciated Apple's attention to detail and customer centric solutions.
I have to wonder if this iOS 5 update was handed to someone who's intention was to damage Apple's reputation.
I am a expert level user, yet I was utterly confused by the experience. Before I could even get close to downloading the ios5 software I had to turn off all my AV and firewall protection. Not a good idea at any time.
Then the rest of the process has been the most obscure and unfriendly I have experienced in some time.
Right now, after my iPad was backed up and finally updated, iTunes is telling me that my computer was once connected to an apple device (the implication is, to me, that it no longer is) and that it recognized there was an IOS device attached and what did I want to do? treat it as a new device or restore from the backup of the old one?
Nowhere I have been able to find the answer to this question, so I embarked into a very long restore process that so far is far from completing and I have the sneaking suspicion that once it is done I may find myself the proud owner of a Ipad 1 sporting my own old IOS4. Either that or ios5 will be installed but odds are that I will find myself among the crowds of people complaining that their 1st gen. ipad has suddenly starting to work slowly and crashing after a few minutes of use.
I have an Android Phone that has given me no amount of grief at all in the 2 years I have owned it. The only reason why I spend money buying apple products is because I thought I would get a premium device.
I'll wait until this ordeal is over (After sucking away my memorial day weekend) but I have a feeling that my next tablet will be an android one. I hate Flash as well, but for the time being at least that tablet will let me view a few more videos in peace.
I am really displeased by the way owners of the early generation iPads have been treated by apple so far. No company can afford to lose customers this way and it is time Apple takes this problem seriously. I would go as far as cofing a separate version of iOS5 for early iPads. Fail to do that at your own risk.

Who do you think you're addressing here? Apple won't read this.
I have an Android Phone that has given me no amount of grief at all in the 2 years I have owned it.
I guess miracles DO happen !!
If you are not going to make your next tablet an iPad, I would strongly advise that you not get an Android device, but pursue another option such as Windows mobile.

  • Has anyone been unable to restore their iPad after attempting to upgrade to ios5? error 1

Has anyone been unable to restore their iPad after attempting to upgrade to ios5? I get an unknown error 1 message. Thanks.

I have the same problem. Something happened during the download and froze iTunes. After spending three days searching these forums with the dead iPad, the only thing I got to work was to try downloading iOS 5 using my sons computer. This worked. However I cannot now get my computer's iTunes to sync with my iPad.. It contains the same error message (1602) and has the same problem as before. It is not an antivirus problem. I need some help too

  • Ipad 1 upgrade to ios5 now video app won't open at all

I upgraded to ios5. Took forever but loaded up. I went to open up video app which had an itunes bought TV series on it. The white whirring wheel comes up then the screen goes completely blank. When I sync my videos - some itunes bought, some of my own projects - appear to sync but you can't even open the app on the ipad.
The programmes are still in itunes so I've tried restoring, restarting, resynching. Absolutely nothing works.
Does anyone know what's going on? This is very frustrating as I mainly use the ipad to demonstrate video work.

For starters, try quitting the videos App and then restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If the videos are all in your iTunes library on your computer you could also try removing them all from the iPad and sync them back one at at time and see if you can find the one that is causing the problem. However - this is based on the assumption that one of the videos is causing the problem.
There may have been an error when the TV series was downloaded and that might be causing a problem as well. If you are in the U.S., I suppose that you could delete the series and download it again in the purchased tab of iTunes - if you wanted to try that.
I would try deleting them from the iPad and add them back one at a time first.

  • Upgraded to iOS5 can't get past "Find My iPad"

Upgraded to iOS5, but now I can't get past "Find my iPad"...seriously...I don't understnad the Apple hype

Garygargar is spot on.  Just unplugged my network cable and relaunched Itunes.  Got past that FindMe screen, plugged the cable back in, wait 10 seconds,  and on my way.
I love it when the first google search result is the actual fix for something!
