Upgrading to iTunes 10 - failure to complete download

Hi - I hope somebody can help me. I have old version of iTunes and a new iphone, when I connect it I get a message telling me to download iTunes10. I have windows XP and have spent 3 nights trying to get iTunes10 download to complete. I don't want to lose my old iTunes info as I need to sync the information already on my laptop to the new phone. Everytime I try to download it freezes and usually when I check after about 10 hours I still have days of download time showing left for it to complete.......Help!

I'm a bit confused. I am using a wireless connection which normally is fine. I only downloaded a friends iPhone 4 using it a few weeks ago. I am totally frustrated. When I connect my iphone, iTunes kicks me out and tells me to download 10.1 version. Am i doing something wrong... Also see one example of the download progress below:

I too am facing this problem, however a little differently. I am in the process of uploading my vinyl collection to digital format in Audacity and am having this problem with multiple tracks when played in iTunes. The first few albums I ripped play just fine in iTunes, but the last few skip over about the last minute of every song and go to the next song. As you said, if you drag the time marker past the skipping point though, the rest of the song will play to the end just fine. I then synced these songs onto my iPod and they play perfectly straight through. I was leaning toward a bad mp3 encoding process that was maybe creating a glitch but I'm not sure at this point if they play correctly on my iPod. In quicktime the song will just stop playing at that specfic point, but if you hit play again, it will continue to the end. I can say though, I haven't seen this problem with any iTunes download, or ripped CD that I have ever put into iTunes (which makes my situation a tad different than yours), it's been purely the songs that I have imported via Audacity from LP's.

Itunes library will not completly download

20GB, windows2000. ipod connects, starts to download terminates before completion with "ipod update is complete" @ anywhere from 2 to 25% complete. ipod drive still shows accessed when trying to disconnect.

I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to put my library back onto my computer. My iPod will only load about 25%, at the most, of the remaining songs before it says it is ok to disconnect. I have restarted the update 4 times, so far, and only gotten about 300 of the 565 songs on. I'm still updating every time it disconnects.
Do I have a setting wrong? How do I make it download all the songs that are remaining? I still have about 700 more songs to put back in my library and I don't want to have to sit infront of the computer and keep telling it to update?
I have Itunes version 6.0.5.20
iPod is up to date with the latest version I think it is 6/28/06. I checked it two days ago and the iPod was replaced on 8/17.

I am still using an iphone 3G. Every time I try to upgrade to itunes 9.x it completely locks the phone up (did the same to my ipod touch), requiring a 200 mile round trip to the MAC service center. Any ideas?

It would not even allow me to restart, reboot....nothing. Twice with the phone and once with the ipod I had to take it to a service center for a complete reset. Any idea how I can fix this? I'm afraid to upgrade past my old version of itunes!

Just connect the new iPod to your computer and setup the iPod via iTunes (instead of via wifi).

TS1424 I purchased a song off iTunes and it didnt completely download however there is no way to resume the download cause it says it was downloaded. Will I have to repurchase this song to get the complete song?

ITunes movie did not completely download. can not watch

I downloaded a few movies. It shows up in the Ipad and looks like it downloaded it all. When I start to watch it tells me can not load movie about 20 min into it.

iTunes 10.7 does indeed work on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Do you mean you have Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard? If so, and you updated your iPhone 4S to iOS 6 on some other computer, then you may be out of luck synching to your 10.5.8 system, but you can get and try 10.6.3 here:

Lightroom 5 upgrade (windows) thinks the EXE is completely downloaded. is not.

currently running 5.5. v5.6 and v5.7 EXE updates had same issue. download ends at 500-600mb and then throws error during install. Ive purchased LR separately and as part of CC on another machine

use a different wired connection, different browser and/or a download manager if you repeatedly have trouble maintaining connectivity.

If you're having problems with the App Store you might try this:
1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
open the Terminal application.
copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
followed by Enter.
launch App Store, login.
2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:
3 - try again.

CD won't completely download

I Just upgraded to itunes 5 and when I download a CD it only downloads a few seconds of each song. I had this trouble once before and decided to uninstall itunes 5 and go back to what I had. I just don't want to do that again, especially since I upgraded my mini-ipod to work with itunes 5. I know the older version works just fine, why can't the newer version work? Can someone help me with the CD download problem.

Hi Drgeert-
The hub may not be broken per se, but Apple has made adjustments to the limits on current that can be drawn from ports.
You probably need a new hub.

I've tried numerous things i've read in forums and nothing seems to work. The installation will not move past the "publishing product information" point. After being stuck there for a while this error message appears:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",process or Architecture="x86"', Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD
I hope someone is able to help me with this.

Did you already try what bnoir suggested in this post about error 0x800736FD:
These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736FD, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?

When iTunes/iPod sync process failed due to timeout, the iPod, has only the initilaised filesytem structure at the start of the Sync.
The timeout failure could be due to
Bad hardisk - do the iPod disk diagnostic, refer to this excellent post by tt2
Slow USB port or resource - Dont use any USB hub, disconnect all other USB devices while syncing
Timeout due to Antivirus or other plugins - disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus or monitoribng software if you are syncing.
Preferably stop doing other things while syncing this ancient device, which the latest iTunes designer, think will soon be extinct.

I am using Window Vista 32bit and have the same problem. After trying uninstall, reinstall, ccclean registry, over and over again and still cannot install itune 10.5. And finally concluded that this might be a registry corruption problem. The following steps is what I did to fix the registry isssue and get my itune 10.5 installed.
- Run Window update - and check the history file, if you see some failures in previous updates, there is something wrong with the registry.
- un-install all the apple related software (itune, safari, boujour, apple update, etc).
- For Vista 32bit, go to the following link and run the script to clean up the registry. I am not sure if other WIndow OS will work or not.

- run the Fix-it script. you have to select the Agressive mode (even thou the pop up window advise not to do this) in order to clean up the registry. When I try without checking the box, and it did not fix the problem.
- reboot PC
- Run window update. It will discover a lot of old updates that need to be installed (I suspect that the fix it script delete a lot of stuff in the registry and removed previous updates). I got 53 updates that need to install.
- run the update and wait for a longtime (mine took ~2 hours).
- reboot PC
- run cccleaner
- reboot PC
- install itune 10.5
Now it works. Hopefully other window OS has similar step to fix this. I can only say it works for me using window Vista 32bit. and so far, my PC works correctly.
