Upgrading to itunes7

When the download of Itunes7 was complete I received this message "C:\Documents and Settings\Kareen\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\S0SGZFQA\iTunesSetup[1].exe" is not a valid Win32 application., what does this mean?

Very odd.
Were you trying to "run" the program that you were downloading, or did you click the "save" option?
If you were trying to run the program rather than saving it, try downloading and saving the program to the desktop first, then run it once you have it fully downloaded.
I might add, if your current version of iTunes is working, I would not install the latest version. Version 7.0.1.8 has some serious issues, at least for a number of users, myself included.
If you are running ok right now, I would skip the upgrade to 7.0.1.8, and wait for the next version. It might save you one huge headache.

Podcasts don't appear in Recently Added folder after upgrade to itunes7.7

I just upgraded to itunes version 7.7. With this new upgrade my "Recently Added" folder in itunes no longer shows podcasts, it only shows songs. I have tried looking for a setting that will let me add Podcasts to this folder but I can't. Is anyone else having this problem? Prior to this latest upgrade Podcasts have always showed up in my Recently Added folder.

I, too, would like this fixed, but let me offer this workaround I discovered:
1. Create a regular Playlist for each podcast you subscribe to
2. Go to the Podcasts section of iTunes
3. Right-click on a podcast you subscribe to
4. From the menu, select "Add to playlist"
5. Left-click on the playlist that corresponds to the podcast you've chosen
6. Repeat for every podcast
After doing this, my podcast episodes go right into the playlists where I want them. They still don't show in Recently Added, which annoys me, but at least I know where they are. Even better, once I did the steps above, the podcast episodes that had downloaded since I "upgraded" iTunes now all appeare in their appropriate Playlists.

Library went from 5k songs to 30 after upgrade to iTunes7. Help.

Upgraded to iTunes 7, and my library lost all songs except those added since 7/23/06. I lost about 5,000 songs. They're all still in my iPod though. Any idea what happened?

My imac cant regconise the finder after upgrading the itunes7!!!!!!

after restart, the computer seems to run slower, only the top right icon shows up but the others run slowly. also there's no icons (all the folders & files) on my desktop!!!!!!! when i click the tool bar's finder icon, it doesn't work!!!! only safari survives!!!!

Save and/or quit your applications & doucuments
Go to Applications>Utilities Folder
Click Disk Utility
Click the Volumn (HD) that you want to check.
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button. (Don't worry about verifying)
When the repairs have finished, you will see the “most important thing”:
Permission Repairs Complete
The previliges have been repaired or completed on the selected volumn.
Restart your computer.

Regarding the "Norton AntiVirus Error", apparently you need to update your Anti Virus program and/or should have disabled it when updating iTunes if the downloading instructions stated so.
If you still receive the error after repairing permissions, you will need to run LiveUpdate to update Nortons per their procedures.

Now not able even to connect to iTunes store- to do with iTunes7?

over the past few weeks i have been able to at least search iTunes music without upgrading to iTunes7- starting yesterday, though, & all through today, i can't even get that far- get an error message which says the store may be busy & tells me to check my connection to web- my connection works fine for all other sites- is anyone else getting this? could the fact that i have a very old version of iTunes (4.7.1) have anything to do with this?

Even though you still get other internet fine, try "cycling the power" on your cable modem/router..
For example, if you have only a modem, power it off by removing plug from AC outlet, wait 30 seconds (at least), then power it on and restart computer.
If you have a router, then power off modem and router, turn on modem, wait, then turn on router and wait for at least 30 seconds more before restarting computer and attempting to connect to The iTunes Store

Track order changing on ipod since updating to itunes7

after upgrading to itunes7, i updated my ipod, to find that on some of my albums the track order had changed. for example, track 7 would be before track 1.
i dont understand why its happening, as the track order on my itunes library is correct.

I'm experiencing the same issue: iTunes (7.0.1.8) OK, iPod (5th gen) some albums messed up. Checked album settings, e.g. 'Artist', 'Album artist', 'track numbers' and reimported album, etc., however, so far unsatisfactorily. Did you manage to solve the problem?

Routine error 9006 Forcing me to Reboot to Bring iTunes7 Back Up

I routinely get error 9006 since "upgrading" to iTunes7.
Not only does this stop the downloading process, but, after getting this error I close iTunes and try to bring it back up again -- but it will not come back up without a reboot. And, when I try to shut the computer down for the reboot, there is one program that can't close itself and has to be ended manually. I don't know what this program is since it just shows what look like Chinese letters where the program name would be.
I am using dial-up and thought that was the problem but I see here it isn't limited to dial-up.
This has happened when I am only downloading one TV episode at a time and when I am letting 2 or 3 download at the same time. Since the other downloads continue, I am not losing connection -- except, when this happens once a file has reached processing stage. When it fails then, I think it may be freezing the other downloads (not sure about this).
Am I the only one that has to reboot to bring iTunes7 back up after this error? (The error doesn't shut iTunes down -- I do that manually -- but, after doing so, it won't come back up again without a reboot.)

Welcome to the Apple Forum.
Re-start the first backup again over the wired ethernet. It would be much faster and more reliable than wireless. Once the first backup is complete, you can then switch to wireless for the hourly backups.

Solved my ipod /iTunes7 problems

After upgrade to iTunes7, my iMac intermittently would not recognize the ipod, would recognize but immediatley go to update and then freeze half way through ( requiring force quit) for the past week. I have a third generation ipod, up-to-date software on it. All the various recommendations didn't work one-off. Here's how I got it solved, by combining some and trying some new stuff.
I found my most recent ipod updater software, and opened that before connecting my ipod, and with iTunes closed . After I connected the ipod, the updater checked it and reported that everything is up to date. Next, I opened iTunes, and it began to automatically update the ipod. When it hung, I walked away for 30 minutes, and found it completed when I returned. I then manually updated it, and found that it hung on a particular playlist. I manually de-selected the playlist, and the ipod then updated agan successfully. I disconnected the ipod, re-connected, re-selected the hanging playlist, and then it updated completely.
It's now working as it should.

I had a error where I could not sync my iPod or Nano. I was getting a "file in use" error for the Nano and disk "could not be read or written to".
I fixed this by killing off the Symantec antivirus. Other people have mentioned that they were having issue with Norton. I have no idea about Norton, just reported it due to researching this topic.
Thanks Apple for the upgrade - I see many good things in iTunes.

Can't download audiobooks in iTunes7

I follow all the correct steps to download audiobooks in iTunes7, and it appears as if it is downloading. The title even appears under the Audiobooks catagory in the iPod while viewing on the desktop with iTunes.
But when I disconnect the iPod and try to find the book on the iPod, it is not there! Not under Audiobooks, and not under Playlists.
Two other interesting facts:
1. music downloads just fine.
2. I have kept iTunes6 on my laptop, and it will download the audiobooks to the iPod just fine (this is the only way I can get audiobooks into my iPod now, so I will not upgrade to iTunes7 on the laptop until this problem is fixed.)
Anybody have any solutions for this?

I am having the same problem. My AudioBooks are ending up in my Music Library on my iPod and I can not figure out how to move them to my Audio Books Library. Try looking in your Music Library.
Is there a way to move my audio books from my Music Library to my Audio Books library??

Itunes7 freezes very often ... even no chance to quit it

Hello everybody,
I have a pretty large itunes library (150 GB) on a external (usb) harddrive. After upgrading to itunes7 the app freezes very often. With freezing I mean: The app doesn't react any more, I have a spinning ball as a cursor.
In the dock I see "application doesn't respond" (in german ...). "Quit at once" in the dock doesn't help. Even more STRANGE: When I use "quit at once" from the apple menu, the process disappears in the list, but itunes is still displayed as running in the dock (black triangle below).

Hmm - I think that it's time for an appointment with an Apple tech! Do you have an Apple Store or an AASP nearby? You've most certainly a hardware problem - the GPU on the 13" model is an integrated GPU so if you've a GPU problem, the entire logic board will need to be replaced, which can be quite expensive. Let's hope it's a RAM issue which can be fixed relatively cheap.
But go ahead and call the Apple Store and make an appointment to have your machine tested.

Confused about Itunes7

Ok, so I went to buy songs on itunes and it told me in order to do that, I needed to upgrade to itunes7. So I did, but I still cant buy songs. It says I need to create an itunes, user account, and then download my cds, but I already have all of those done. I don't know what to do
HELP!!!!! I just want to buy more songs.

you may need to uninstall and reinstall the application. Some older itunes files have been known to cause issues.

Upgrade - reconvert wma-lost file names?

When upgrading to itunes7, why did it started going through hundreds of songs and converting the to AAC files -AGAIN - I already went through all that when I first installed them into the library - won't it just transfer over the already converted files? It's taking hours......when I bought my ipod, I created a library of around 4000 songs from my shared, etc...and all the wma files were converted, now that i'm updating, does it have to redo that each time??
As well, about 150 of my songs have lost their file names - now they are just called "Track 5" etc...and have unknown artist.....what happened to the file names of my songs?

It was a mix - some were imported from discs purchased from the store, some were from Limewire/Kaza, and some were purchased at the store, then edited in Cubase -
I did try to retrieve information from the advanced options, but even the cd's that were purchased didn't come up....hmmmm - if it was just limewire songs i'd understand.

Problem with syncing iPod ... Itunes and windows show errors... itunes 7...

hey guys... since I upgraded to itunes7 my ipod (4th gen click wheel) doesnt sync poperly! it all began when I was syncing the ipod and my screen just froze a few secs after connecing the ipod! I had to restart the computer and reset my ipod... from that time had alot of trouble!
first the screen froze immediately when I connected my ipod with the pc and later when i had formatted it with windows several times and resetted it a million times with itunes7, itunes and windows show errors (error (-124) while syncing and everything stops! I've just spent nearly two nights on that and really hope that my ipod didn't break just because of itunes7! to stay in proper english and not get that angry in letters that I am in mind--- please so help me... my ipod is everything and im a music junkey! by the way... itunes itself works perfectly... if i not sync! how peculiar that getting back to itunes6 is impossible...i tried it... does it hav a spec reason, hah!

I tried formatting the ipod with windows! in the end of it windows says that it was not able to format the drive properly. then I click ok, open itunes, restore the ipod, try to sync again and have the problem that after a while the whole thing freezes... no more errors....just from the moment i disconnect the ipod manually from the cable, everything gets back to normal life again! I do not know what to do! do you guys think, my computer is too old or maybe my ipod's broke???
I'm despairing people...never had problems like that until itunes7! I tried as well to close all the other working programs with the task manager... doesn't change it!

ITunes 7 - No Sound?

CRAZY Frustrating! Upgraded to iTunes7 and now have no sound when trying to play anything through iTunes (no music, no podcasts, no videos, etc.) Can hear it just fine through the sub, but nothing through the speakers. Sounds work fine with any other application (Media Centre, system sounds, etc.) but only the sub through iTunes 7. WHat gives?
Seems like a number of users having similar problems (way to go Apple). Anybody found a fix yet?

OK. Here's where we are. First off, thanks for your help, b noir. Very much appreciate your efforts.
Now to the fix. After four hours on the phone with Apple support it would appear that iTunes7 understands the difference between my Line1 Out and Line2 Out on the back of my Soundblaster Audigy Sound card, and whereas all other applications send signals to both Line1 and Line2, iTunes7 sends signals only to Line1 and NOT to Line2. Not sure if this is a result of iTunes new Movie (so therefore 5.1 channel sound?) functionality or not, but this seems to be the issue (same problem for Quicktime 7.1.3).
PREVIOUSLY, speakers were routed through Line2 Out and the Sub was routed through Line1 Out.
FIX = plug in a splitter (typically used to split one headphone jack into two) to Line1 Out and route both speakers and Sub through Line1 Out. THIS should fix your problem.
Seems very simple now that you look at it, but not knowing where the issue existed was a 6 hour pain in the a$$. Bye bye weekend.

ITunes 7.7.043, All my iPod games have diasappeared

So I haven't seen this addressed anywhere, but in the new iTunes, all of my games are not showing up in the application anymore. In fact, there is nowhere to click on "Games," but it has been replaced with "Applications." I checked the folder they are saved in, and they are all still there, but I had my iPod syncing with the games, and they are all not there anymore. Is there something I can do to bring the games back into the application, or are they gone? I have a 5th generation iPod, and that is what the games are for...

My daughter has the exact problem. IPOD 5TH Gen. After upgrading to itunes7.7
games do not show in applications but folder is there. When she plugged her ipod into computer itunes erased all her games from her ipod!!!!!!!
Luckily I have a backup on her laptop. Who is responsible for this?
If I had not backed up her library is Apple responsible if she lost all her games due to their obviously faulty software update? Or does Apple give a flying ** about it's customers? I have searched all over the Apple site and
do not see an actual email to contact and complain to Apple about this. She had zero problems until the 7.7 upgrade. We have 4 ipdos in this family and at the moment are not impressed!!!!!!!!!!!
