Upgrading to JDK 1.2.2 with Ora Apps 11i

a patch that we need to apply requires us to upgrade to JDK 1.2.2. In the doc describing this process, we find instructions to comment out the line referencing to current JDK (wrapper.bin=[ORAHTTP_TOP]/jre/1.1.8/bin/jre) in jserv.properties... WE DONT HAVE THIS LINE, but what we do have is wrapper.bin=/u01/test/apps/testcomn/util/apache/1.3.9/Apache/jdk/bin/java
Has anyone run into this?
we didn't modify this file
thanks

3.1.2 contains some minor bug fixes and should not present any major hurdles for you. Just be aware that PC anti-virus and firewalls can interfere with the OS download and upgrade. Best to disable those before you get started.

  • Discoverer 10g installed with Ora Apps 11i on same box

    I've worked through the "coexistence restrictions" for Discoverer 10g (9.0.4) and 9iR1 (1.0.2.2.x) which states:
    "The following instances of Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) and Oracle9i Application Server Release 1 (1.0.2.2.x) can coexist on the same computer only after Oracle9iAS Discoverer has been shutdown in the Oracle9iAS Release 1 (1.0.2.2.x) Oracle home:
    1.0.2.2.x Standard Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms
    1.0.2.2.x Enterprise Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms
    1.0.2.2.x Standard Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms without OracleAS Infrastructure 10g
    1.0.2.2.x Enterprise Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms without OracleAS Infrastructure 10g"
    Does this imply that I can install 11i on a box, permanently shut down Discoverer and then ON THE SAME BOX install 10g Infrastructure and Midtier including Discoverer 10g?
    Has anyone worked through this installation and made it work?
    Thanks

    This IS possible and have now done it with assist from Oracle tech support.
    1. Install 64-bit 10.2.0.1 Databse into OraDb_home.
    2. Install 32-bit 10.2.0.1 Client (needs Windows ODBC extensions) into OraClient_home.
    3. Apply patch 5500954 for 64-bit - this is a Critical Bug patch 8 for 64-bit.
    4. Apply patch 5337014 for 32-bit - this is a patchset to upgrade the Client to 10.0.2.0.3.
    5. Contrary to what Oracle note 334528.1 says (which is to patch the 64-bit Server, you must patch/upgrade the 32-bit client as well (otherwise, it still fails).
    Also, DataDirect's Connect Ver 5.2 ODBC Oracle "wire-driver" (32-bit version) will work without installing the OraClient at all.

  • Oracle iPortal Integration with Oracle Apps 11i via SSO

    How can we integrate Oracle iPortal with Oracle Apps 11i via SSO?
    Is there any documentation on this topic that anybody could share ([email protected])? I have already searched the Portal Studio and the Metalink without much success.
    Any suggestions and possible recommendations/solutions are highly appreciated! Thank you for answering this post!
    Best regards,
    Lina Danchenko
    P.S. I am unable to view the note 146469.1 Configuring Oracle Applications with Oracle Portal on the Metalink. Any idea where I can find it? Thanks in advance!

    In a future release, Oracle Apps will be integrated with SSO out of the box.
    Currently there is a pilot program which several companies are participating in to beta-test this
    integration, but this program is not open to additional customers.
    Please speak with your Oracle sales representative to get a better idea of current options
    and general availability dates.
    You do have the option now of just configuring Oracle Apps as an External Application.

  • Citrix Metaframe1.8 implementation with Oracle Apps 11i.

    We are considering implementing Citrix Metaframe 1.8 with our existing 11i implementation. As Oracle does not support Citrix as a platform to run Jinitiator, could anyone share their experience with a similar implementation, and maybe advice me on key issues/show stoppers faced.

    This is an expected error -- Please see (Error When Trying To Start Discoverer (Addisctl.Sh) [ID 854976.1]) for details.
    So, you either need to upgrade Discoverer to 10g/11g as per these docs.

    Using Discoverer 11.1.1 with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i [ID 1073963.1]

  • Specified workbook not found (Discoverer 4i with Ora Apps)

    I am using Discoverer 4i with Oracle 11i.
    When I try to open any workbook via any responsibility (of Oracle Apps) I get Error
    ‘Specified workbook not found: <workbook name>’
    When I click OK on error, all my work books are listed.
    I have made sure users and responsibility have security access for Business Area
    Also made sure the workbook is shared with users and responsibility
    Any idea how I get rid of this error.
    Thanks in advance for any help

    Hi,
    The Oracle Apps uses the workbook developer key to locate and open the workbook. The Oracle Apps function that opens the workbook contains the developer key in the parameters for the function. This must match the developer key for the workbook shown in the Discoverer Manager Workbook -> Properties -> Identifier.
    Hope that helps,

  • Discoverer Drake with Oracle Applications 11i

    Hi,
    Is it possible to use Discoverer Drake with Oracle Apps 11i?
    Thanks.
    Lee

    To clarify:
    All versions of Discoverer can operate 'standalone' against Apps 10.7-11i. Only Discoverer 4i was certified in the 11i techstack and 10g r1 (9.0.4) is also certified using documented steps (see MetaLink). Discoverer 9i was not certified int the tech stack. Discoverer 10g r2 (10.1) can be used standalone with custom BA's, it is not yet certifiedd with the 11i pre-seeded EUL can content.
    At this stage in the product, if using 11i, use 4i or 10g r1. If standalone, use 10g r1 (9.0.4) or 10g r2 (10.1).

  • Can you upgrade the Java JDK that is shipped with ES3 to a more current version

    We have installed ES3 within out environment. However there appears to be some security issues with the JDK (1.6.0_26) that is shipped with ES3. We can't find any documentation on how to upgrade the JDK to a newer version that will work with ES3.

    These computers usually use Xandros, which is a version of linux that is no longer actively developed. Unfortunately I don't think there is a good way to update Firefox on these machines. I'd suggest you install a new version of linux (Ubuntu is a very popular and easy to use one). This is a bit beyond the scope of this forum however, I'd suggest looking on a few linux forums. They can help you find a version of linux that is more modern, faster and more secure, and then help you with installing it and setting it up. You'll be able to use the newest Firefox at that point, plus your operating system will be updated and faster.

  • Xmlparser.parse fails with ORA-20100 when reading from mapped network drive

    Hi
    I have a problem with the xmlparser when parsing an xml document from a mapped network drive. If I read the xml document from a local drive, then there is no problem.
    I haven't been able to find any documentation specifying this. Is there any way to parse a file from a mapped network drive???
    To clarify, I have created an example procedure, that parses an XML doc from disc, notice that the G: drive is a mapped drive:
    CREATE OR REPLACE procedure test_xmlparser is
    p xmlparser.Parser;
    dir varchar2(100) := 'G:\Vejdirektoratet\root\xsl';
    errfile VARCHAR2(32) := 'error.log';
    begin
    p := xmlparser.newParser;
    -- set parser properties
    xmlparser.setValidationMode(p, FALSE);
    xmlparser.setErrorLog(p, dir || '\' || errfile);
    xmlparser.setPreserveWhiteSpace(p, FALSE);
    -- parse xml file
    xmlparser.parse(p, dir || '\' || 'HelloWorld.xml');
    xmlparser.FREEPARSER(p);
    end;
    The file HelloWorld.xml contains the following:
    <?xml version = '1.0'?>
    <message>
    <text>Hello World</text>
    </message>
    When running this in SQL*Plus I get the following error:
    ORA-20100: Error occurred while parsing: Invalid argument
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLPARSER", line 22
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLPARSER", line 69
    ORA-06512: at "VD.TEST_XMLPARSER", line 14
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    Changing the value of the variable dir to 'C:\' makes it all work.

    Hi again
    I need to ask a last, hopefully ;-), question on upgrading the JDK to 1.3.1:
    As far as I understand, this is how I do it:
    1) Install JDK 1.3.1 on DB server
    2) tell Oracle DB, to use that JDK.
    Is this the correct way? And how is step 2 done?
    Looked on metalink, google etc., but could only find this for 9iAS (not the DB) and Oracle Applications 11i.
    thanks, Sxren

  • Oracle drivers not found by servlets after upgrade of JDK

    I am using jakarta-tomcat 4.0.1 with WIN2K.
    After a recent upgrade to jdk 1.4.0_02 from jdk1.3.1, servlets that try to use oracle crash with this error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleDriver
         at ProductLookup.loadJDBCDriver(ProductLookup.java:23)
    the code at line 23 is:
    DriverManager.registerDriver ( new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    This all worked prior to the upgrade of jdk.
    The code at line 23 does work using the command line.
    I did check the ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES - in my limitted knowledge they look OK. But I am sure there MUST be something missing &/or incorrect.
    During execution, the servlet is just not finding "something".
    I am relatively new to JAVA and especially new to servlets.
    What should I look for to solve this problem?
    TIA
    WalkGood

    The oracle drivers are in a file called classes12.zip.
    Make sure that you unzip these files to where the
    servlets can find them.
    %TOMCAT_HOME%\common\classes
    or
    %TOMCAT_HOME%\classes
    or
    %TOMCAT_HOME\webapps\{app name}\WEB-INF\classesIs %TOMCAT_HOME% an environment variable? I have one called CATALINA_HOME. It is set the jakarta folder "C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1"
    Something I noticed: If I execute tomcat "startup.bat" in a command prompt window, I see echo'd messages. One says "Using CLASSPATH: C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1\bin\bootstarp.jar;C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1\lib\tools.jar" but this NOT match the Environment Variable "classpath" which does specify the path to the classes12.zip folder. Should the "catalina.bat" file assemble the classpath to include the same Environment Variable "classpath" in addition to bootstrap.jar and tools.jar?
    Where can I find specific documentation on how to setup the environment for jakarta-tomcat to find the ORACLE drivers during execution of a servlet?
    TIA

  • Oracle 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2 fails with ORA-03113

    This is Oracle upgrade from 10.2.0.2 to Oracle 11.2   (on Windows platform)
    Since 10202 to 11 is not SAP supported, we upgrade from 10.2.0.4 first before upgrade to 11
    10202 to 10204 upgrade finished fine.  All post upgrade sql files are run without any issues.
    During 10204 to 11202 upgrade, at 42% complete the Database Upgrade Assistant gives
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    Upgrade failed due to running the step "Upgrading Oracle Server"
    The upgrade was repeated and it always gets the same error at the same spot.
    Once the error occurs, if I try to rerun the upgrade script, it complains that objects already exist.
    Looking at the \oracle\cfgtoollogs\dbua\<SID>\upgrade1 directory, I see the log file which shows at the end of the file:

    If I try to run that same procedure within SQLPlus (after the upgrade failed), I get the error message ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object.   This tells me that the upgrade script actually created the newer version of the dictionary images, but for some reason failed to complete.  And so when I re-run the upgrade script, it complains.
    We've searched google, SAP Notes, sdn, etc. but havent gotten anywhere.    Help or hints would be greatly appreciated.

    HI,
    Check below details from oracle Metalink.
    Curtesy of Oracle Metalink
    A1) Errors connecting as SYSDBA / Internal OR on startup nomount
    There is something fundamental wrong with the software / environment
    if you cannot connect to Server Manager as a DBA user.
    The steps here cover errors such as ORA-3113, ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
    or similar errors connecting to Oracle or starting the instance NOMOUNT.
    Check the following items:
    A1.1) If possible reboot the server disabling any automatic
    startup of Oracle before you do so. This may seem drastic
    but helps make sure you are working from a consistent
    starting point.
    A1.2) Check your environment points at the expected ORACLE_HOME
    and ORACLE_SID and that TWO_TASK is not set (Unix) or
    LOCAL is not set (NT registry).
    Check the USER_DUMP_DEST and BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST and default
    trace directories under this environment for any user trace
    files or alert log entries generated. These may help indicate
    the cause of the problem.
    Eg: ORA-600[SKGMINVALID] may indicate a problem with the
    shared memory Unix parameters on Unix systems.
    Try to show that any trace file / alert log entry you
    find is truely related to the "CONNECT" command by re-issuing
    the "connect" and checking for a new trace file / alert entry
    at the time of the error.
    A1.3) Unix only:
    Some Unix platforms need LD_LIBRARY_PATH to be set
    correctly to resolve any dynamically linked libraries.
    As the user with the problem:
    % script /tmp/ldd.out
    % id
    % cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
    % ldd oracle
    % exit
    If the 'ldd' command does not exist go to the next step below.
    Check that all lines listed show a full library file. If there
    are any 'not found' lines reported contact Oracle support
    with the output of /tmp/ldd.out .
    A1.4) Unix only:
    Your 'oracle' executable may be corrupt. Relink it thus:
    Log in as the 'oracle' user.
    % script /tmp/relink.out
    % cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
    % mv $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle.dd.mon.yy
    % rm -f ./oracle
    % make -f ins_rdbms.mk ioracle
    % exit
    Prior to Oracle7.3 the relink command was:
    make -f oracle.mk ioracle
    If this reports any errors Oracle support will need to see
    the contents of the file /tmp/relink.out .
    A1.5) Have you installed the Parallel Server Option ?
    ORA-3113 can occur if you have installed the Parallel
    Server Option but do NOT have a Distributed Lock Manager
    installed or running correctly.
    Unix:
    If the Parallel Server Option was installed by accident
    then it can be de-installed by relinking.
    Eg:
    Shut down any Oracle instances
    % script /tmp/relink.out
    % cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
    'oracle' should not exist so delete it if it present
    % rm -f oracle
    % make -f ins_rdbms.mk no_parropt ioracle
    % exit
    NB: Do NOT deinstall the Parallel Server Option if the
    database is using Parallel Server unless both nodes
    are shut down otherwise database corruption could occur.
    A1.6) If the error is on STARTUP NOMOUNT:
    Check the init.ora file used to start the database.
    This provides the configuration details used
    configure the instance. To help isolate the problem
    it may be useful use a very basic init.ora file
    when starting the instance. If this works then
    parameters can be increased / introduced one at a
    time to see if there is a problem with a particular
    setting.
    A1.7) Check for server side trace files which may give more
    indication what the underlying problem is.
    See section C for details on how to check
    for server trace files.
    A1.8) Ensure there is free disk space in:
    a. Your USER_DUMP_DEST and BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST locations
    b. Your AUDIT destination (Unix)
    The default is $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/audit
    c. Your Oracle Trace directory if Oracle Trace is enabled
    See <Note:45482.1>
    A2) Errors Mounting the database
    Check all the items in A1 first.
    If an error occurs when mounting the database there may be problems
    with the control-files or data files, or with resources required to
    open these files.
    A2.1) The location of the control files are specified in the
    init.ora file. Try mounting using each controlfile in
    turn.
    eg: "Shutdown abort",
    edit the init.ora to refer to ONE of the controlfiles only,
    "startup nomount",
    "alter database mount"
    Repeat for each controlfile to see if any controlfile works.
    A2.2) It is possible to re-create the controlfiles if you know the
    location of all datafiles and online logs, or to restore an old
    backup controlfile. Always back up the current controlfiles before
    restoring any backup copies or issuing a CREATE CONTROLFILE
    command.
    The steps for this are not documented here.
    A2.3) Unix:
    Some unix platforms have a 'truss' command (or 'tusc').
    If available this can be used to help trace how far Oracle
    gets before the error occurs.
    Eg:
    % truss -o /tmp/truss.out -f svrmgrl
    Keep the file /tmp/truss.out safe - Oracle Support MAY need to see it.

    Greetings,
    I am attempting to upgrade my OEM 12.1.0.1 installation to 12.1.0.3. I am following the instructions in the Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Upgrade Guide and Oracle Support Note 1568143.1. I have verified that all prerequisites are met and have installed patch 11061801 to the repository. The repository and OMS are on different machines. The 12.1.0.1 installation is able to connect to the repository, it has been running successfully for some time now. On the OMS server I stopped the OMS and the Agent and I invoke the 12.1.0.3 installer. I follow the steps and when it gets to the connection page it fails with ORA-01017. The messages are shown -

    I am able to connect remotely from another machine. sqlplus is not installed on the OMS server.
    I am completely stumped and in need of assistance. Searching the web only indicates that I need to insure that the above listed conditions should be met, they are. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate the help.
    Thank you.

    sqlplus sys/<password>@<connectstring> as sysdba
    Thanks
