Upgrading To New Models, Whilst Under Contract

Hi,
I'm thinking of getting an iPhone when it comes out in the Uk on 9th Nov. What I was wondering is; if i enter the 18 month contract with O2 and then in a years time, Apple release a sooper-dooper 3G version, will i be able to buy it and use it on my existing O2 contract (and possibly sell my old iPhone)?
Does anyone envisage a problem with this? 18 months is a long time and happy to enter into it as long as i can upgrade phones (at my own cost) as and when they come out.

US iPhones currently ship with a 3G capable SIM card in them already.
Yes, AT&T switched over to 3G capable SIMs a few years ago, partly because it made more sense to buy only one type in quantity. Also so the user could easily swap with a 3G phone, of course.
An older SIM won't allow 3G operation in most parts of the world.
The 3G SIM gives, among other features, the ability for the phone to verify that it's on the correct network. The SIM's enhanced smartchip code also allows it to calculate verification sequences so that the network will allow acess to higher priced 3G services. 2G SIMs can't do all this.

The subsequent iteration of your AirPort Extreme added the simultaneous dual band, a huge advantage if you have devices capable of 5 GHz such as newer Macs or the iPad.
5 GHz is capable of greater speed, but it is more susceptible to reduced range due to intervening objects and structures. If you have no devices that require 2.4 GHz, you can try using 5 GHz with your present model Extreme to determine if it improves anything.
The following models (fourth and fifth generation) improved the antenna design and increased the effective output power (respectively), which should result in greater range for you.

If I am eligible for a new phone upgrade, but not signing a new contract what price would I be paying for the new device?

no contract, full price phone, but get $15 or $25 month2month discount every month
2 yr contract, subsidized phone, no monthly discount.
even though you pay more up front, no contract with monthly discount is cheaper over 2 years the buying the reduced price phone under contract If you have 10GB of data or more. Calculate the full 2 year costs before making a decision.

When getting a warranty replacement from apple can you upgrade to the new model?

When you take your phone in to apple, and get them to replace it with another phone is it always a like for like replacement or can you upgrade and pay extra for a newer model upgrade?

Roaminggnome seems to know for sure, but it sure doesn't hurt to turn on the sugar and ask. I would just say that you had been seriously considering upgrading to the 5, and then you had this problem (I think you'll be in a better position if the problem is something original to the phone, and not a 'user misuse/damage' and if you're still under warranty somehow). I mean, you have the top model 4s, a nice amount of GB, depending on the problem, they can still refurb it and make a decent amount on it, I've purchased refurb products on Apple's site, and they are still not cheap!

My iTouch refurb, bought from Apple, came pretty much exactly the same as a new one, the outer components are all brand new, they have the cords/earbuds, all that...the only difference was mine came in a different box....but my original box had John Lennon in it, so that might have been a special deal? First of all, as a rule you should have two backups before you do anything else. (most don't, and it's up to you).
I would have one backup done as a Time Machine backup on an external disk, which you will use to import all settings, data and apps to your new MBA via Setup Assistant on your very first boot of the new machine.
Second, I would have prepared, a bootable backup done via Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper on a second external disk. This you can use for unforseen problems that might be evident on the Time Machine backup (hey it happens).
After you have these two items in preparation, then use the original system disk or flash drive to reformat and reinstall the original operating system to the old machine, cleanly. After that, it is ready for sale. If the unit is not an SSD equipped MBA, you can perform a secure wiping of the disk when you perform the reformatting.
To reiterate.... You need a good Time Machine Backup as a source for you setting up the new Mac with Setup Assistant.

I see. If you go to Settings>General>About>Name, that is the current name of your phone. The backup bearing that name should be the more recent one, and therefore the one you want to keep. I would delete the other one (presumably the one set up by Best Buy under your real name, assuming you changed it later), then see if that gives you enough space to back up again.
If it still reporting insufficient storage, use this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4847 to try to determine what's taking up all your room. In them meantime, you can perform a manual backup on your computer so your have a current one while you're troubleshooting this. To do so, connect your phone to iTunes, then right-click on the name of your phone on the left side and select Back Up.

Death in family whom just upgraded to new two year contract?

My son passed away on Dec 30, 2014, we traded upgrades from one phone to his in November, 2014. When I called Verizon to find out what to do, she asked if I wanted to turn the phone off, I said I wanted to keep it on for another month so that I could take care of is affairs. All I was doing was asking questions but she put his phone on a month to month, but showed the phone that we transferred the upgrade to as having upgraded in December, Now my husband has a new two year contract and no phone of his choice. I have contacted Verizon on three occasions to get it corrected but as of 20 minutes ago, it has not been changed. What can I do and whom can fix this. ??

Sorry for your loss. When upgrades are transferred the original line that had the upgrade gets it's contract extended not the line the upgrade is moved to. Their contract remains the same. So if your husband transferred his upgrade to your son, your husband's line is the one that gets the new 2 year contract. That is not a mistake, it's policy. If your son's line is now month to month when you cancel the line there won't be a ETF.

I bought a Macbook Pro 15 last month, is it worth upgrading to the new model?

I bought a Macbook Pro 15 last month (the lower end model) on interest free credit. I mainly got it for music and film editing. I was aware that Apple were about to announce a new series of Macbooks but kind of needed it then! Anyway, is it worth me selling this Macbook and buying the newer model that was just announced? I know I'd lose a couple of hundred £ through selling this one but would it be worth the upgrade?
Also, is there another upgrade to the new models coming? I.e. will there be a smaller scale update in 6 months?

Unless the poster states exactly what plan they are on the only reasonable reply was the short and sweet one I gave. If they continue as is, without looking into plan changes (again no plan was listed) there is no reduction since paying off the subsidized device.

Since there is more than one plan available and since there is one plan available that does qualify for a discount once a subsidized phone is paid off, your original reply is not and could never be 100% correct, maybe 50% correct. The only reasonable response (also short and sweet) is "It depends on your current plan and/or whether you are willing to switch to the one plan that is eligible for a discount, otherwise no you might not get a discount."

From what I could find, that is an iPad 1. You can only update to iOS 5.1.1. You can do that on your computer. It may be time to look for a newer iPad as the apps now are set to use iOS 7.0.4.

Issue opening an existing model or creating a new model in VC 7.0

We have installed VC 7.0 and upgraded to EP 7 (SP08). We followed everything that was on the installation guide and have all the prerequisites installed both on the client and the server machine. We are on a Windows 2003 Sever and we have both MS XML Parser 4.0 and j2sdk 1.4.2_09. On the client side,we have both XML Parser 4.0 and SVG Viewer3.0
The first time, I tried to create a model in VC 7.0, I could successfully create one. When I tried to open the model that I created, I was unable to do so. In addition, I could not create any more new models. The error I get in the message box while trying to open/create a new model is
"Proxy Error: Server Error: Failed to load rules list of model"
"Model root is bad or missing"
Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated!.

I was able to finally find the property, and this did solve my problem. Following is a bit more detail on the fix, in case someone else runs into this problem.
1) open the J2EE config tool from C:\usr\sap\XXX\XXXX\j2ee\configtool
2) expand the instance node and press on the "server_XXX" node
3) under the java parameters list in the right side of the screen add the following line:
-Djavax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory=com.sap.engine.lib.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl
4) press the Save Button.
5) restart server instance

Any in place upgrade is ever simple. Even some clean install have problem.Getting all the right drivers for machine specific module is also key. Is Lenovo going to package a set of tested drivers to setup current models to factory built spec's or are we left to figure it out on our own? My Z70-80 is two weeks old and I won't be jumping on until some time after the RTM release. I don't know at this time if a Bood CD for image recovery would work under the existing UFIE configuration either. I don't see any mention of what effect the multiple hidden factory partitions currently on my system will be. Useless after upgrade, unused space or what. ONEKEY Recovery uses some of them currently. We need more support from Lenovo then a MS Upgrade video which over simplifies a more complex set of issues.

When I had gone to the apple care centre in India a few months ago to upgrade my OSX to Mountain Lion, I was told that considering my macbook pro's specs, upgrading it would just make it less efficient, and that I should stick to Snow Leopard unless I consider buying a newer mac that would benefit from it. Is this true? I find it a bit hard to believe. Which update is most recommended?
I also notice that my mac has gotten considerably slower. While using chrome, it buffers and struggles with even just 5 tabs open. Could this have something to do with my current ios? As a precaution, I have always been making sure I have enough free space on disk i.e around 70 - 100 free out of 250GB.

Mavericks is no longer available from the App Store, so your choice is Yosemite. One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won't have to go though the revert process.

Old project with entity 4.0 breaks when adding new model or updating an existing model.

i have an old 4.0 project that was using entity 4.0
in VS2013 if I try to update an existing model or add a new one, it will forcefully install the entity framework 5.0 even though the selection in the box was to use 4.0
it goes out to nuget to do this and then it will forever add 5.0 even if I uninstall it.
5.0 getting installed completely breaks my application. References to tables disappear and cross reference for NO reason at all with another model.
How can i get it to just let me use 4.0 so I can move on OR how can i upgrade my old model into 5.0?
I'd rather not got tthe 5.0 route because that changes a lot of the ways things were done and would break even more code.

It is not very clear how you install the Entity Framework, as far as I know, the EF version 4.0 is available with .NET 3.5, from .NET 4.0, it will use the 5.0 by default, if you want to use the EF 4.0, you could change the target to .NET 3.5.

If it is EF 5.0, as far as I know, it uses the DbContext API instead of the original ObjectContext API(the EF 4.0 uses this API) which provides a better performance, if you want to keep to use ObjectContext API, you could follow this article:

Unable to load data store in a new model

Hi,
I have Win XP Pro SP3. MS SQL 2008 which has adventure works DW2008R2 database. I have oracle data integrator.
I have created a physical and logical schema and have established a connection with my MS SQL 2008 and the test connection is successful. I create a new model folder and a new model within. In the new model, I gave technology as microsoft sql server , logical schema name selected, and in reverse tad: standard, context:global and when i click on "reverse" no tables with are seens under the new model.
no error message either. I have been trying to figure this out for the last 12 hrs...can someone please suggest/guide me here please. this is my first time using ODI.
