Upgrading to Technical Communication Suite

I find it next to impossible to find out pricing from Adobe's web site. I hope that someone here can help me.
Is it possible to upgrade to the technical communications suite from FrameMaker 11 standalone, perpetual license software? If so, what is the price to upgrade?
If it is not possible to upgrade to TCS from FrameMaker 11, how much would it cost to buy a perpetual license for TCS?
How much would it cost for a monthly subscription to TCS if I can upgrade to it from FrameMaker 11? And how much for the monthly subscription if I cannot upgrade to it from FrameMaker 11?
Thanks in advance!

What is the price to upgrade from Framemaker 11 to TCS5?

    Thank you.

Not sure what CCS has that you’re referring to, but TCS5 is out and can be installed via subscription or downloaded installer.

  • CS6, eLearning suite, Technical Communication Suite:  licenses and hardware upgrade.

In my PC I have installed:
    Creative Suite Master Collection 6.0
    eLearning Suite 6.1
    Technical Communication Suite 4.0
I'm upgrading my HDD to a new SSD disk (cloning) and putting it into a newer PC
The old disk will be erased.
Am I going to have any problem with my Adobe licenses?
Do I have to do anything?
    Thanks
    Patrick

    >It will most likely not clone properly for at least the Adobe products... they need to be installed.
could you please elaborate on this? the product is already installed and a cloned disk is an exact copy.
    >Deactivate the old installation and uninstall it so that it does not transfer to the new drive.  Re-install using the installation files.
Yes I know I can do this. I'm trying to avoid uninstalling/reinstalling everything. As I see it I just probably need to cycle deactivate/clone/activate.
But I need more than just a guess.
    Thanks.

    Hello Vivek,
    Thanks for the announcement.
It is nice to know that anyone that now purchases the
Technical Communication Suite 1.3 as an upgrade will get Adobe
Acrobat 9 Pro Extended for the same price I paid in October 2007
for the Tech Comm Suite with Adobe Acrobat 8. Had I only waited
until this month to purchase the Technical Communication Suite I
too would have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat but alas, I will
have to spend an additional $300US to upgrade to TCS 1.3. Which
means I will have paid 30% more for the TCS than anyone purchasing
    it now.
Sometimes it just does not pay to be an early adopter of a
product and have to go through the pain of wondering why RoboHelp 7
was so slow (among other bugs)...but I digress.
I understand you likely have nothing to do with the pricing,
but I felt I had to say something.

  • Technical Communication Suite 3 - Install Location Correct?

    Hi All,
I've just installed the new TCS3 upgrade from TCS2.5 on my XP Pro SP3 machine. The installer on the DVD seemed to work fine, but I just noticed that it didn't create a \Technical Communications Suite x\ folder like other TCS versions had. It placed all the components (FM10, RH9, etc) in the \Program Files\Adobe\ folder. Has anyone else seen this behaviour? I just found it odd that it seems to have performed a "standalone" component install with the added functionality of the suite.
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
This is the as per the new design of TCS 3. In earlier version all the suite products were placed in TCS folder but in TCS 3 you will not see any TCS folder but all the individual component will have separate folder in "C:\Program files\Adobe"
    Thanks,
    Sameer

    Hi There,
Looking at the log files indicates that you already had "Reviewer" and "Quiz analyzer" installed on your machine from the previous installation of Captivate. "Adobe Captivate Reviewer" and "Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer" are installed as a separate component when you install Captivate. Even if you uninstall Captivate then also you need to uninstall these two separately. I think in your case you already had Captivate before on this machine. If that is the case then you can ingnore these errors and continue to work. You can also verify by launching the above two components separately and see if they are working.

  • Adobe RoboHelp 7 and the Adobe Technical Communication Suite have just been posted

    Hi, folks.
The long-awaited Adobe RoboHelp 7 and the Adobe Technical
Communications Suite have just been posted on the Adobe website.
There are 30-day Trial versions that can be downloaded here:
    http://www.adobe.com/ap/products/robohelp/
Follow the link that says "Download the trial". After you
sign in, you can download either the RoboHelp 7 standalone release,
or the Technical Communications Suite which contains these
integrated products: RoboHelp 7, FrameMaker 8, Adobe Captivate 3
    and Acrobat 3D.
If you or members of your team use both RoboHelp and
FrameMaker, I'd strongly advise you take a look at Tech Comm Suite.
It's more than simply a "bundle:" of products. There is real
integration among the apps. Here are details:
    http://www.adobe.com/ap/products/technicalcommunicationsuite/
For some screenshots and information, check out Peter
    Grainge's website
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/rh7/rh7.htm
I will also be posting some Adobe Captivate movies of the new
interface on my website in the next day or two.
    http://www.hypertexas.com
You can also read more on the Adobe Tech Comm Blog
    http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/technical_communication/
These are exciting times. Two releases in one year! I don't
think there's any doubt about Adobe's committment to RoboHelp now
    Thanx,
    John

The first thing I looked at was the upgrade price, which is I
think is pretty reasonable. I may not have made it clear in my
other post that I installed the RH7 trial with RH6 still installed.
I'm pretty sure management will spring for an upgrade, and I don't
intend to use RH6 simultaneously at that point--only while I'm
    doing the trial.
The main thing I'm checking out is the double-byte character
support. One complaint I have there is that in HTML view, Japanese
characters are showing as squares. If I open the same topic file in
Notepad, the Japanese characters show up there, so I know RH7 isn't
really messing up the characters, it's just not displaying them in
HTML view. This still makes it difficult to manipulate Japanese
text in HTML view. Does anyone know if there is a way for these
characters to display in HTML view properly? Should I start a
    different post? Thanks,
    Ben

  • Will there be a new Technical Communication Suite when CS5 will be released next month ?

    Dear Forum,
will there be a new Technical Communication Suite when CS5 will be released next month (April 2010) ?
We are close ordering the Technical Communication Suite 2 - will there be a grace period to get the
new version without getting charged again ?
    Greetz from Europe,
    Speedtriple

    I'm wondering about that too.
I've been stuck before when I bought TCS, then tried to upgrade just Captivate when v4 was released, and couldn't do it.  Took months to get my money back for the CS4 download.
Seems that anyone who buys a suite gets penalized for it.  Surely it's in Adobe's best interest to upgrade users who invested in the more expensive product?

  • Adobe Presenter in Technical Communications Suite 5?

Is Adobe Presenter 9 included in Technical Communications Suite 5? I just downloaded a trial version of Tech Comm Suite 5, but did not receive Adobe Presenter (only Adobe Presenter Video Creator).

Yes, Adobe Presenter 9 is a part of Technical Communication Suite.
Have you ever install Adobe Presenter 9 on your machine ?
Please check the version of your Microsoft PowerPoint.?
Please check this document for tech specs and installation instructions.

  • Strong DITA integration into FM Technical Communication Suite

My motivation to vote for a strong DITA integration is that I can imagine the FM Technical Communication Suite as an very appropriate tool to support the DITA Learning and Training Content Specialization in a smart way.
That's important as on April 1, 2008 the DITA Technical Committee has approved Design Proposal 12058 for inclusion of the DITA specialization for learning and training content in the formal design plan for DITA 1.2.
My long-term vision for the FM Technical Communication Suite is, for example,
    * write your quiz is FM and use it in Adobe Captivate
My short-term vision the for the FM Technical Communication Suite is
    * improve the usability of the DITA plugin for technical writers
Looking forward to a user-to-user discussion about which smart DITA integration into the FM Technical Communication Suite.

    b Smart Language Identification
    GOAL
FM DITA plugin uses the xml attribute for language identification
    to set
    Proposal
    The language identification attribute is
    xml:lang
    see
    http://www.w3.org/TR/2000/REC-xml-20001006#sec-lang-tag
    A scretch of an implementation:
Change the entry for the attribute xml:lang in the related EDDs from
    Name: xml:lang String Optional
    to
    Name: xml:lang Choice Optional
    Choices: en-US | de-DE
    Default: en-US
    Note: en-US means language(englisch)-country(USA)
    A smart integration would
    * language-country codes for all combinations supported by FM
    * May be the drop-down list of
    ParagraphFormatting/PropertiesFont/Language
can view the lanuage-country codes, too
    * TextFormatRules similar to this one are necessary
    If
    Specification Concept[xml:lang="de-DE"]
    ParagraphFormatting
    PropertiesFont
    Language
    Deutsch
Well, my current workaround is I add a version of the above TextFormatRule to all elements which are specificied in the 'info-types' variable of the topic.edd
    Any smarter workarounds known?

  • Installing Technical communication suite

    Folks
I am trying to install Technical communication Suite (mainly
for Captivate at the moment - the rest I'll use later) . I am
running Windows XP, Pentium 4 etc and have a licenced version of
    Captivate 2
I keep getting the error message Error: Unable to Load
Product Information as soon as click on the first button on the
    initial screen (activated by autorun)
I have worked through the troubleshooting doc on the adobe
    site to no result.
The installation process starts up OK on my old steam powered
PC - but I want to install this on my better Pc
    any suggestions?
    Regards
    Steven Knight

    Hi Steven
Unfortunately, almost all of us here already have the product
    successfully installed.
First, I'd try what is outlined in
    this link.. If that
doesn't help, I'd strongly encourage you to contact Adobe support
and see what they have to say.
For what it's worth here, Adobe has changed the installation
method for most of their products. This means that installation
issues aren't problematic with only Captivate. There are issues
    with many of the products.
    Cheers... Rick
