  • Upgrade to BT Unlimited Broadband Extra at a disco...

I've received an email from BT which starts:
'Last month you had to pay a bit extra for going over your monthly usage limit. You don't want that, and we don't want that – so how about a really special deal on unlimited broadband? We'll give you totally unlimited broadband and Unlimited UK* Anytime Calls for only £23 a month plus your usual line rental throughout. That's £5 lower than normal. You won't see this price advertised.'
I'm already on unlimited, I didn't pay any extra last month, I'm already paying less than the offer.
This is at best misleading, and at worst a blatant lie to try to get me to pay them more money.

I have received one of these and TBH it looks pretty genuine to me, it arrived on my email address that normally does not get any junk or spam, it has all the BT logos on and links to BTcom   the letter is signed by -:
    Libby Barr
Managing Director, BT Sales and Service
I did get an email last month as I had used 7Gb of my 10Gb cap and I have been contemplating upgrading to unlimited.
I have not clicked any of the links within the email but TBH it looks very genuine to me.
I hope someone from BT can confirm whether it is or not
Below is what the email states (I have removed the HTML and links)

  • BT released another Totally Unlimited Broadband pa...

    Hi
I have recently upgraded to the top normal broadband package BT just released at the start of
this month Totally Unlimited Broadband extra which is priced at £21 per month + Line rental
from £10.75 and this was their top normal broadband package on their website.
I have just noticed today BT has just released yet another Totally Unlimited Broadband
package just a day or two ago called Faster Unlimited Broadband which is priced
at £26 per month + Line rental from £10.75.
Looking at the description of both packages on the website below, they are identical and
have the exact same features and up to speeds thought the new just released Faster
Unlimited Broadband package for some reason is 5 pounds more per month.
Does anybody know what the difference is between the Unlimited Broadband extra
package and this new Faster Unlimited Broadband package?
    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/broadband/packages
    Thank you for the response.

    Unlimited Broadband extra
You get 50Gb cloud, and Netprotect included.
Can`t see a Faster Unlimited Broadband package.

  • Unlimited Broadband, and Evening & Weekend Calls

    Hi All
I'm considering moving over to BT onto their:
Unlimited Broadband, and Evening & Weekend Calls for £25 per month.
Is this service truley unlimited? i.e. no caps on the total amount of downloads and no throttling / caps on the lines speed?
    Many thanks

During peak times the download speed may decrease as more people come online. Your connection speed will remain the same.
Actual connection speed depends on the quality of your phone line, and your own internal wiring.

  • Changing to the Unlimited Broadband and Calls Cont...

    Hi,
I have been looking at the Unlimited Broadband and Calls contract, and at the moment I have broadband provided by BT and have the phoneline provided by BT, but its not on a contract. I was wondering how I would go about changing to the Unlimited Broadband and Calls contract, do I just sign up for it online, or do I have to cancel what I have now and then buy the contract?
Also, this is going to sound mad, I know, would someone have to come out to set it up?
Before I do change to the Unlimited Broadband and Calls contract, has anyone had/heard of  any bad experiences with this contract?
    Thanks again in advance
    ~Iamnoone

You might find it easier to phone the sales department.
Do not cancel your existing broadband and phone - it will only cause problems.  You may even be charged a £30 cancellation fee.
There should be no reason for anyone to visit if you already have BT phone and broadband.
Play it right, and you should be able to get a new Home Hub and a significant discount on what you are currently paying, as if you were a new customer.  If you don't ask, you don't get.

  • Re-contract to TOTALLY Unlimited Broadband

    Hello
I have unlimited broadband and my connection is traffic managed at peak times on certain type of traffic which is annoying. I would like this removed as I've read is possible.
I'm currently on a half price deal with a few months left to run on the discount. Can I recontract now and retain the discount?
I spoke to BT on the phone and the lady didn't really have a clue what I was talking about. I then got hung up on accidentally it seemed.
Is there a better channel to use to get this sorted?
    Thanks.

  • Introducing Totally Unlimited Broadband from BT

    Hi all
From today we’re making a few changes to our broadband portfolio – find out more about our new packages here
The biggest change is that some of our Broadband and Infinity packages will now include totally unlimited usage. This means that we are relaxing our traffic management policy and removing P2P restrictions meaning users won’t be slowed down at peak. There will still be services with usage limits for customers who want a lower cost service because they are light Internet users.
The above will apply to those who order packages including totally unlimited BT Total Broadband or totally unlimited BT Infinity from 1st Feb, or existing customers who re-contract to a totally unlimited package. We’ll not be moving over existing unlimited BT Total Broadband or Infinity customers to the new totally unlimited packages but you can request it yourself. It takes 5 days to change over and you’d be re-contracting at the same time.
All existing customers will get access to BT Cloud storage, either 2Gb or 50Gb depending on your package, even if you’re an existing Digital Vault customer. We’ll be closing Digital Vault over the summer so we recommend you switch all your files over to BT Cloud as soon as you can. All BT customers can also get BT Smart Talk free of charge. Smart Talk is an app that allows you to make calls from your mobile at landline rates over WiFi saving money on your mobile bills.
    Cheers

  • Upgrading to totally unlimited

hi folk just wondering im on bt infinity option 2 and upgraded in nov 2012,how do i go about upgrading to the new totally unlimited package.

If you don't have BT SmartTalk on your mobile, you can use 0330 1234 150 for Sales. That will be covered by your calling plan.

  • Totally Unlimited Broadband

Just a brief message to get the conversation going.....
This is great news for a lot of us hardcore gamers out there.... However! and its a big However! I think BT are missing the big picture here....
New customers yet again get the best deal out of this, as they can sign up for this as an initial contract; which is acceptable. Existing customers however are getting a raw deal..... we have to re-contract to get this service... What a cheek!
It is clear that to get new contracts out of existing customers and tie us in for yet another eighteen months, they have come up with this "new idea" really! Please! admit it BT.... you have been been found wanting and are now having to compete with other suppliers out there, who are offering this service; as standard.
To be truly competetive and keep customers who are possibly migrating to other suppliers offering "truly unlimited broadband", I would suggest migrating existing customers to " T U B" for free and no extension of their existing contract. If then at the end of the contract, those customers are happy with what they have been experiencing, they can then sign up for another contract......... Another idea to make BT appealing, would be twelve month contracts...
C'mon BT.......... open your ears and start listening to your customers..... after all, we are the life blood of a successful business.

Correct geo. It's not all in BT's favour either - the flip side is that you also keep deals that are downgraded, for example my Sky Sports 1&2 plus ESPN for £15.

  • 'Totally Unlimited Broadband' question

The stickied thread at the top of the forum says that anyone who orders an Infinity package from Feb 1st will get the totally unlimied package. I ordered Infinity on January 30th and my installation is tomorrow. Does this mean I won't be on the Totally Unlimited package? Or will common sense prevail and I'll be put on the totally unlimited package?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    looking good so far!
Painless installation. Engineer arrived nice and early. He said BT told him said there was an issue with my line that needed looking into. He ran some tests and everything came back good. He popped to the cabinet, did what he had to do there, set up the hub, ensured the connection was working and off he went on his merry way.
Done a few speed tests in all the excitement, been fluctuating between 60-30mb, but i guess thats to be expected in the first few days

  • Recontracting to Totally Unlimited Infinity

    Hi all,
I took out a contract before Feb 2013 and want my package shaping lifting. If a moderator could help me avoid calling the cal centre again for another 30 mins waste of my life I would appreciate it
Do I need to recontract for 18 months too? Or is there a 12 month option?
    Thanks

    Hi all
I rang the number that jolly told me to call and actually go through to a very helpful knowlegable person who completely understood why I was upgrading.
As I have had a few issues with my HomeHub 3 I enquired about getting a HomeHub 5 in the deal which they said they could do but I would need to sign up to another 18 month contract (instead of the 12). I didn't really want another 18 month but accepted this and the order was placed.
Moments later browsing the BT pages I noticed that Infinity Customers that are into the last 3 months of their contract can get the HomeHub 5 for Free and recontracting is only 12 months. My final 3 months start next month so I rang them back and got a 'not so helpful' person that there is no way they can do a hub5 with a 12 month contract, it is all 18 months. I did't want him to do it for me (as am only into my 14th month of 18) but I just wanted confirmation.
I have cancelled my 'recontract' and will try again next month.
He said that there is nothing on his system that will allow a HH5 without an 18 month contract and when I am in my last 3 months that I will have to do the 'upgrade' to Totally Unlimited online and not via the call centre.
    Is that the case?

  • Upgrading to Unlimited Broadband issues.

    Hi,
I am currently on the bt total broadband 10 GB package and would like to upgrade to the Unlimited Broadband package. When I try to upgrade online the only options it eventually gives me is the current package im already on and the unlimited broadband 'extra' package which I dont want, I just want the 16 ppm unlimited package not the extra.  Any ideas?

The same happened to me - although I was on option 2. I contacted 0800 800 030 as below. It took over an hour to get through - possibly due to the BT Sports launch - but when I finally did I was offered unlimited BB for £13.25 per month.

  • Unlimited broadband / total broadband option 3

Hi, can anyone tell me if the totally unlimited broadband free for 6 months £16 month after is the same as the bt total broadband option 3 ? i ordered the unlimited but in my account it says total broadband option 3 ? are they the same package?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

By the look of the BT website, there is no longer BT option 3. There seems to be BTunlimited and BT unlimited extra. The BTunlimited extra looks like it is the same as the old Option 3.  If you are only paying £16 then it looks like you are on BTunlimited.
To be sure you should give customer services a call and they will confirm what you are on.

  • Help please! existing customer upgrade to *totally...

I currently have Infinity 2, which was bought in 2012. I am trying to upgrade this to be 'Totally Unlimited' - i.e. to remove the traffic management restrictions which are in place for my current product.
According to this post (http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity/Introducing-Totally-Unlimited-Broadband-from-BT/td-p/764984), existing customers can request to be upgraded to the new product. I'm trying to do this, but I'm really struggling to figure out how...
The guys in the call centres have transferred me between them more times than I can remember, but ultimately they don't seem to be able to help - or at least I've not been transferred to the right team yet!
Can anyone point me in the right direction of who to contact to help with this?
    Thanks

  • I want to Cancel my BT Broadband and Calls Package

i have recenetly moved from sky to BT on the basis that BT was cheaper. But i have recently found out that i wasnt receiving unlimited Broadband and that i went over my usage limited by 60gb, and that i will have to pay £50 ontop of my Package price and Line Rental. i call up and they said that i cannot do anything and also that i went over the broadband limited for February and March. so the only thing that i could of done was to upgrade to unlimited Broadband and evening and weekend calls, which all together comes out at £40.60 including Line rental. Sky is Offering The same package at £19.75. that is half the price i am paying now, i need help in finding out a way to cancel my BT Package as it is costing me a fortune to keep. is there anything i can do?
P.S The Cancelation Fee is like £250 and my contract will end in June 2013.

No, you entered into a legal contract so if you cancel, then you will be charged the cancellation fee, its as simple as that.
You can normally upgrade your broadband without it affecting your calls package.
    See http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36397/c/346,402,5685
It looks to me to be £25 a month including evening and weekend call, plus line rental.
You may find that Sky cost does not include line rental, which is usually hidden in the small print.
