UPGRADING TO VISTA FROM XP ON T61P

Hi, You might have addressed this but I dont see any exact matches so here goes.  I upgraded my 6460-DVU T61P from XP to Vista.  Most of the devices on the machine were given drivers automatically by vista, except for one which I have had a problem with in the past.
There are two items that I cannot seem to find
A. what they are
B. where their drivers are, or what their drivers are.
Currently labeled "PCI Serial Port", under "Other Devices" it sits.  I have tried everything in order to load a driver to see what would work and I cannot find the correct driver.
Does anyone have the answer as to what driver this simple device needs? The EXACT LANGUAGE used to describe it also?????
mfc

I don't suppose you printed out your "Device Manager" listing before you upgraded.  Sometimes you can identify you unknown hardware by comparing old vs new.  Failing that, remove the devices in Device Manager and re-boot - sometimes they go away, depending on the order in which the original install proceeded.  Lastly, go through all of the device drivers on your support page at Lenovo.com- most of them will either update or advise you that you have the most current driver.  Start with the chipset and power manager drivers.
Is any known hardware on your computer missing or not working?

  • How to upgrade to Vista from Windows XP Pro on system preloaded with Vista Business?

I have a new T61p preloaded with "Genuine Windows Vista Business downgrade to Windows XP Professional" and had it shipped with the Windows XP Pro downgrade.
Where can I can find the procedure to "upgrade" back to Vista if/when I decide to do so?  I would also like to know the pro's and con's of doing so.  For example:  will I need to reload my applications, etc?
    Please advise.
    Thanks much.
    Gary Grathen

Firstly you should create recovery discs for Vista and backup your files before downgrading to XP. When you are ready to revert back to Vista you can use these to install it.
The discs will return your T61p to it's factory state. Beforehand you will need to backup files and yes you will have to reload all your applications.

  • Upgrading to VISTA from XP ... questions

I have COMCAST DSL and purchased WRT54G Wireless Router so I could get online anywhere in the house.
I installed the router s/w on my old non-wifi laptop, thinking I would purchase a wifi-card. But I decided to wait and purchase a wifi-ready notebook PC instead.
That happy day finally is here. I have downloaded the Vista driver for the router and will install it later today.
My question is ... do I need to re-install the s/w for the router on my new wifi-ready PC, then load the driver? Or should I load the driver onto my old laptop instead?
If I install the router s/w on my new wifi-ready PC, won't it confuse the existing setup?
Can somebody provide me with a step-by-step so I don't wreck anything?
Such as, Do I disconnect and disable the existing wifi network first?
Many thanks if you can point me to someplace online where folks have already been-there-done-that.

There is no driver for the router. Not for Vista or any other OS. Routers don't have drivers.
You also don't install a router on any computer. The router is a stand-alone device which has no keyboard and no display. Still, it must be configured for which you need a computer. But the simple fact that you configure the router from a computer does not make this computer any different from the other computers in your network not does this install any software on your computer. The setup program on the CD which came with the router is a automatic configuration software to configure the router. It does not install anything on the computer.
If the router works fine at the moment: don't change it. Don't run the setup program on the CD on any computer. You run the program once and after that never again (unless you reset the router completely to factory defaults maybe). If you have to change anything use the web configuration interface which you should find at http://192.168.1.1/ from any computer connected to your LAN.
First connect the new computer with a ethernet cable to the router. The default settings on the computer should work fine with the router. Check that you have internet through the wired connection.
If that does not work fix this problem first. Don't bother with the wireless connection unless you are able to get a successful wired connection. Wireless connections are more complicated then wired connections but if the wired connection does not work the wireless will most likely not work either.
If the wired connection works unplug the cable, search for wireless networks and connect to your network. If you have turned off the SSID broadcast on the router you won't find the wireless network. You have to configure it manually then. Check Windows help for information how to do that. If you don't find anything make sure that the wireless card is powered up.
If anything does not work, please post exactly what you did and what does not work including the full exact texts of error messages, etc.

  • How to upgrade the Vista from Vista Home Basic to Home Premium

Hi there just joined the forum, so hello to everyone.
Could someone please point me in the right direction with my problem.
I have tried to sort it out myself but I just don't understand what to do.
I have had my Toshiba Laptop preinstalled with Vista home basic now for six months, everything was fine so I decided to upgrade to Home premium.
I upgraded no problem and everything was fine until I had problem with the laptop and had to reformat.
And there is my problem, through being a little naive and silly I have no record or instructions to get my upgrade back.
I have tried to look for a solution but Just don't know what to do.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

If you contact Microsoft where you originally purchased the product key and explain that you've recovered your system but didn't write down the product key for the update they should be able to give you a new one and you can use the Windows Anytime Upgrade icon in the welcome centre again.
That should allow you to upgrade again. For future reference though, you should write down the product key and anything else that you need in case you need to recover your machine again. Good luck :)

  • T61p upgrading Windwos Vista Basic to Ultimate

So I finally got my laptop on July 29 after ordering it on the 15th, and i am VERY happy with it. The build quality is amazing!
Anyways, when i ordered the t61p i always thought of downgrading it to xp pro, so i orderd the windows vista home basic, but i just found out that if i downgraded to xp my intel turbo memory will go to waste so i guess no downgrading for me! so instead i might as well upgrade to Vista Ultimate. So before i upgrade i assume everything will be wiped and i need to burn recovery discs/drives? unlike other companys such as HP since i have a hp laptop it has another drive that is the recovery drive, IBM does not. and when i pres thinkvantage and do Backupnow i hve to back up my harddrive as well? i want to just back up my system vista basic incase i mess up. if i have to then do i just do a backup and plop everything in a DVD and burn it? after that i put in my vista Ultimate and follow onscreen instructions right? any help would be great! i don't want to do anything until i get replies from somebody that has more experince than me at this..!
    thnak you!!

  • How do i upgrade my tx2500ea from 32bit vista to 64 bit vista

i have a tx2500ea and wish to upgrade to vista 64 bit operating system to make use of the extra ram as i can only use 3 and a bit gb with the 32 bit vista.
could anyone let me know if this is possible, and if so how do i do it, also if it is possible can i run more than 4gb of ram with the 64bit system.
    thanks
    Roger
PS could you please keep the technical details very simple as im not to hot with the lingo

To combine the two posts above: You don't really need to switch unless you have more than 3-4 gigs of ram, and IF you switch, you do have to re-install. The benefits of a 64-bit system are hardly noticable, though; unless you do some really computing-intensive tasks, particularly with floats iirc.
EDIT: I, too, switched just out of curiosity, though.

I just upgraded my iPad from 4.3.3 to the newest - I think 6.1.3.  I cannot find my photos and videos.  I tried a restore, but after 3 hours, it's timing out.  Pardon my ignorance on asking this question; but is there a way to find my photos?  I do nto care about anythign else.
Here are the steps I though I took this morning:
    Backup iPad
Connect to iTunes and downlaod newest version of iTunes and then newest iOS
    restart Vista Laptop
    upgrade to newest iOS
I knew somethign was wrong when it took about 6 hours to upgrade the iPad
at the end it errored with this message error (-50), but the upgrade worked
I was expecting to see all my photos but didn't see them
I have tried a restore to a back up 2 times.  The first time took 3 hours and just sort of timed out - it kept saying that there was an hour to go
I tried it again 2 hours ago and same message.
They are very valuable to me and so now I am panicking
    Your help is much appreciated

    Hi Eric Ferguson,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For troubleshooting on this, take a look at this article:
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • Satellite Pro A200-16N: Can I use Recovery CD after upgrade to Vista

    Hii!
Im thinking of upgrading to windows vista on my Satellite Pro A200-16N, and i've ran the windows vista upgrade checker from the microsoft website and it says my system will support windows vista so im ok on that.
The problem is, if my laptop were to break or something like that at some point, will my recovery CD's that was supplied from toshiba still work on the laptop with windows vista?
Will they return the laptop to windows xp or since my laptop has a different operating system will they not work?
    Also...
    Whats the deal with BIOS?:S
    I dont understand!
If i were to upgrade to windows vista should i update my BIOS before or after upgrading to vista?
As i have to download the new drivers before upgrading yes?
    Thanks!

Of course the Recovery CD will work.
The Recovery CD will set always the notebook back to the factory settings. This means that the whole HDD will be formatted and the Toshiba image will be installed.
    > Whats the deal with BIOS? I dont understand!
    > If i were to upgrade to windows vista should i update my BIOS before or after upgrading to vista?
In my knowledge this notebook was already delivered with Vista therefore you dont need to update the BIOS if you want to install Vista again.
Some A200 Satellite series needs a BIOS update if you want to use the XP.
In such case its advisable to update the BIOS to XP version firstly and then to install X OS.
    Best regards

  • Camera not working after upgrading to vista ultimate

So I upgraded to vista ultimate and since then the camera hasn't worked. I don't have it turned off, and i went to device setting to see if it was working properly and also tried updating the driver. Everything seems to be in order, the camera just doesn't work. anyone have any ideas?

is it ultimate 64? if you dl the driver from lenovo's website it probably doesn't support 64bit, i had tons of trouble with my camera before too but eventually it kinda fixed itself. I think the device just wasn't being recognized by windows and the driver never completed installation but after a few reboots it gave me a notification saying that it was indeed finished installing and since then it worked great.

  • Upgraded to Vista and kept iTunes Library on 2nd drive - how to retrieve?

Hi, I hope somebody can help!
I upgraded to Vista and at the same time installed a 2nd hard drive onto my PC. This has become the C drive and the new D drive is actually the former C one (i.e. before the upgrade). This is where my iTunes Library files are.
My question is, how can I import this folder into the new iTunes installation i have just done in a way which recognises my playlists, podcasts and purchased content??
    All help greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks!!

It may not be that simple... in Vista, the file path would be different.
You can try importing your library file:
    Launch iTunes
    Click File > Import
    Navigate to D:\...\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml
Select the iTunes Music Library file and import
I'm thinking in this case you may see your playlist data, but probably no audio files themselves.
You can add these to the library by clicking File > Add Folder to Library
    Navigate to D:\...\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\
Select the iTunes Music folder and add it
    http://lifehacker.com/software/itunes/geek-to-live--how-to-move-an-itunes-librar y-from-a-pc-to-mac-and-back-242468.php
That link explains the conversion of the library file from PC to Mac, but from XP to Vista is the same concept. Essentially, you'd need to find and replace the file path from
    C:\Documents & Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\
    to
    D:\Users\username\Documents\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\
(these folders may still be "my documents" and "my music" depending on which edition of Vista you have)
    Hope this is helpful

  • Upgrading robosource control from 3.0 to 3.1

    Hi,
Our doc. group will be upgrading robosource control from 3.0
to 3.1. I can't find much documentation on this. I know that there
are both clent and server upgrades for 3.1. Other than running both
the client and server upgrades, is there anything else that we
should be aware of or may need to do to complete the upgrade (and
successfully connnect to our exisitng database)??
We've already sucessfully upgraded from RH 6 to RH 7.
Any info. you can provide is appreciated.
    thanks,
    Brad

There must be loads of people who still use Precision 670s and I fail to understand why Microsoft would block using 8.1 for this model (or its processor).
Perhaps not.  I had my last Precision 470 (same Dell design era) die late last year (it was running Vista x64 nicely at the time).  I tried to resurrect it but when I opened it up I found the plastic parts just were falling apart.  I finally
determined the problem to be on the motherboard somewhere and, given the power of modern systems, I just kicked it to the curb and integrated all the duties it was performing into the other systems we have.  The processors in the Precision 470/670
line are getting near 10 years old.  That's an eternity in modern computing terms.
As far as failing to understand...  At some point every software author must make a decision whether to continue to build their systems to run on old hardware, or use instructions that only newer hardware supports in order to take advantage of
the additional power and capability it provides.

  • Upgrade to Vista - regrets?

Has anyone had any regrets on upgrading to Vista before any service packs are out? I would be running Lightoom, CS3 beta, PSE5, and ProShow Producer as my main programs. Any major problems out there or should I go ahead now? Thanks for any help.....Susan

Ok, here is what I have found. It was on the dpReview forum and the
information was posted by Microsoft Tech support. This was posted by
Microsoft in answers to reports that the Photo Info Tool that MS just
released caused problems and because it uses the same WIC technology in
Vista the problems were in Vista as well. Here it is.
Microsoft Photo Info Frequently Asked Questions
    Software version: 1.0
    Document revision: 1.0
    January 2007
    What is Microsoft Photo Info?
Microsoft Photo Info is an add-in for Microsoft Windows that allows
photographers to add, change and delete common "metadata" properties for
digital photographs. In addition, it provides enhanced "hover tips" and
additional image file sort properties in Windows Explorer (in Details view).
How does Photo Info read and write to image files?
Photo Info uses a new Windows platform technology called Windows Imaging
Component (WIC). WIC is part of the new imaging and graphics foundation
built into Windows Vista and is also available for Windows XP. WIC provides
a common interface for applications to work with image files without having
to know the details of specific image formats. New image formats are
supported through plug-ins called "codecs". In addition to the native
codecs for JPEG, TIFF, BMP, and other formats built into Windows, camera
manufacturers are providing Windows codecs for RAW file formats. Microsoft
has actively encouraged all major camera manufacturers to support Windows
    codecs.
Does Photo Info always use Windows codecs?
Photo Info always uses Windows codecs for native file types such as JPEG,
TIFF and HD Photo. For NEF, CR2 or CRW files, the situation can vary: Photo
Info will always use Windows codecs if a RAW codec is found. If a codec is
not found, Photo Info uses internal code to read and write IPTC metadata
only (XMP is not supported). This feature is provided for backwards
    compatibility with older applications.
Where can I find RAW codecs for Windows?
RAW codecs are available direct from camera manufacturers' Web sites, and
may also be included in software provided with future cameras. Nikon has
released version 1.0 of its codec, which can be found at the following Web
    site:
    http://www.nikonimglib.com/nefcodec/
For information about the availability of codecs for other RAW file types,
    please see the following links:
    Adobe:
    http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?EXT=dng
    Canon:
    http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?EXT=cr2
    http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?EXT=crw
    Fujifilm:
    http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?EXT=raf
    Minolta:
    http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?EXT=mrw
    Olympus: http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?EXT=orf
    Sony:

After installing Nikon's NEF codec and changing metadata, I can no longer
open NEF images in Adobe Photoshop. Why?
Important note to users of the Nikon RAW Codec for Windows: Microsoft has
received reports of compatibility issues with Nikon NEF files after
installing version 1.0 of Nikon's RAW codec posted in January 2007. Tagging
the RAW files through Windows Vista or the Microsoft Photo Info tool after
the codec is installed appears to cause these files to become unreadable in
other applications, such as Adobe Photoshop. We have confirmed that these
files can still be opened with Nikon Capture.
Nikon and Microsoft are investigating the issue, and we will post an update
when we have more information. In the meantime, Microsoft suggests that you
exercise caution with your Nikon RAW files. If you plan on tagging them
using Nikon's codec, make a backup of the file first, and verify that the
tagged file continues to work with your other applications before
    proceeding.
Tagging the file using Photo Info without the Nikon NEF codec installed
    appears to be safe.
What versions of Windows does Photo Info run on?
Photo Info runs on 32-bit versions of Windows XP or Windows Vista operating
systems (x86). Windows XP users must have Service Pack 2 or later installed.
Additionally for Windows XP, users must have installed the Microsoft .NET
Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86).
Does Photo Info support 64-bit or non-x86 versions of Windows?
    No, not at this time.
What file types does Photo Info support?
Photo Info version 1.0 supports the following file types: JPEG, TIFF, WDP,
HDP (HD Photo), NEF, CR2, and CRW. Support for additional file types may be
    included in a future update.
A note about the CRW file format: If a Canon CRW RAW codec is not installed,
Photo Info supports CRW files only when an associated THM file is present in
the same folder as the selected CRW image. (THM files contain thumbnails
generated by certain Canon cameras.) In this case, Photo Info reads and
writes IPTC metadata into the THM file. Therefore, if you move or rename
the CRW file using Windows Explorer after writing metadata with Photo Info,
please be sure to apply the same changes to the THM files; otherwise
    metadata may be lost.
Does Photo Info work with all RAW files supported in Windows?
No. Photo Info version 1.0 supports Canon and Nikon RAW files (CR2, CRW and
NEF) only. Microsoft may issue an update to Photo Info in the future with
support for other RAW formats. Windows Vista is designed to support any RAW
format for which a valid codec is installed.
What metadata properties and formats does Photo Info support?
Microsoft Photo Info supports many of the properties in the Information
Interchange Model 4 specification as published by the International Press
Telecommunications Council (IPTC). Microsoft Photo Info can read and write
these properties in either the legacy IPTC IIM format (the well-known "IPTC
headers" supported in Adobe Photoshop and other programs) or in the newer
Adobe Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) metadata format, depending upon the
file type. In addition, Photo Info can display certain Exchangeable image
file format (Exif) properties. You can also give your photos "star ratings"
that are compatible with Windows Vista and Adobe software.
Does Photo Info recompress JPEG images?
No. Photo Info uses the Windows JPEG codec to perform metadata operations on
JPEG images in a lossless manner. The full size image is not changed when
adding metadata to a JPEG image.
Why does my file size sometimes change when using Photo Info?
This can happen for a number of reasons. Often the file must be reorganized
so that space is created for the new information. Windows applications may
add a small amount of padding so that it is easier to add or change metadata
in the future; this can cause the file size to increase slightly. If an
image contains a thumbnail, Windows will re-encode the thumbnail to make
room for other metadata using a default quality level of 7. If the original
thumbnail was encoded at a higher quality level than this, the file may
become slightly smaller. However, the full size image is never changed.
Why do some TIFF files become much larger after using Photo Info?
This is a current issue with the Windows TIFF codec. If a compressed TIFF
file must be reorganized to add metadata, the TIFF codec does not always
preserve the original compression settings, causing the file size to
    increase.
JPEG files from my Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) become much smaller after
using Photo Info. What's going on?
This particular Canon model embeds a preview in the JPEG image stream.
Because the preview location is private, it is not preserved when the file
is reorganized. This preview may have been used in the camera during image
playback; however, it is not used by JPEG software on the PC and therefore
use of the file should not be altered. Because the file becomes smaller it
may seem that the file has been compressed; however, this is not the case.
Microsoft is currently investigating what additional camera models (if any)
    this might affect.
    What are "Maker Notes"?
Some camera manufacturers include an Exif "Maker Note" tag within an image
that contains information not included in standard Exif, such as additional
camera settings. The data structure is private and differs between
manufacturers, but usually contains absolute references to other data within
the image stream. This is an issue when applications add padding to an
image since the absolute addresses become invalid.
Does Photo Info delete "Maker Notes" from my images?
No. The "Maker Note" tag is not deleted, but it may be relocated in the
image stream. In the past, this would cause the "Maker Note" to become
irretrievably damaged. WIC, however, keeps track of the number of bytes the
"Maker Note" has been moved, and writes this information to a public offset
tag. Applications that are aware of this tag will be able to recover most
"Maker Note" information. Microsoft is working to inform hardware and
software developers of this new feature and encourage them to update their
    tools.
Does Photo Info read the "Maker Note" information?
No, neither Microsoft Photo Info nor Windows Vista directly reads the "Maker
Note" information. However, software that does read the "Maker Note"
information may choose to save this information in XMP so that this
information can be displayed in Windows Vista. If running Windows Vista,
right-click on an image and choose Properties to view this information.
How would an application developer find and use the relocated "Maker Note"
    information?
Any time the "Maker Note" is relocated by Windows, the Exif MakerNote tag
(37500) is updated automatically to reference the new location. In
addition, Windows records the offset (or difference) between the old and new
locations in the Exif OffsetSchema tag (59933). If the "Maker Note"
contains relative references, the developer can add the value in
OffsetSchema to the original references to find the correct information.
What happens if there is a conflict between metadata properties?
If the same property is stored in a file in both IPTC and XMP formats,
Microsoft Photo Info gives precedence to the XMP value. When saving changes
to a file, Microsoft Photo Info attempts to write the new values to both
IPTC and XMP formats (if the Windows codec for that file type supports
both). In this case, the property values will be synchronized. In the case
of CR2, CR2, and NEF file types, XMP metadata is not supported if a RAW
    Windows codec is not installed.
How does Photo Info map IPTC properties?
For some properties, Microsoft Photo Info maps the original IPTC property
names to more commonly used terms, as used in Adobe Photoshop and other
    software:
    Microsoft Photo Info property
    IPTC IIMv4 Tag
    Title
    Object Name
    Author
    Byline
    Description
    Caption

Photo Info does not see updates to RAW images I've made in Adobe Photoshop
    or Bridge. Why?
For RAW files other than DNG, Adobe software currently writes metadata to an
external "sidecar" file having a '.XMP' extension. Photo Info will only see
this metadata if a RAW codec is installed that also supports these sidecar
files. Because metadata in sidecar files is easily lost if the original file
is moved or renamed, Microsoft is encouraging camera manufacturers to
develop safe ways of writing XMP metadata directly into their file formats
(we expect most RAW Windows codecs to support this). Software programs that
use WIC will gain this feature automatically. Microsoft is encouraging Adobe
and other software developers to follow the camera manufacturers' leads once
    these safe methods are defined.
Apple Aperture doesn't show IPTC metadata in TIFF images that I edited with
Photo Info (or Windows Vista). Why?
Aperture interprets a certain field in the IPTC header in a strict way that
is currently incompatible with the way that Windows encodes this
information. Microsoft is currently investigating a solution to this
    problem.
When I attempt to install Photo Info, I get a confusing message and the
    program is not installed. Why?
During Setup on Windows XP, Photo Info runs the Microsoft Windows Imaging
Component (WIC) installer to ensure that WIC is present on the system. If
the WIC installer fails for some reason, the following message is generated
and Photo Info Setup is cancelled:
"There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A Program run as
part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel
    or package vendor."
This may happen for a few reasons: 1) a very old beta copy of the Microsoft
.NET Framework version 3.0 may be installed; 2) the WIC installer did not
run with Administrator privileges; 3) the Windows registry is inaccessible
for some reason. None of these cases should be common, and Microsoft is
    currently investigating this further.
Should this happen, you can try installing WIC manually from the following
    location:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8E011506-6307-445B-B950-215DEF45D DD8&displaylang=en.
Once this succeeds, try the Photo Info Setup again.

  • Upgraded my iTunes from 4.3.3 to iOS 7.0 and now iTunes cannot locate my iPad 2 or any of the movies/books I purchased

Computer illiterate here.  I wanted to upgrade my iPad2 from an iOS 4.3.5 to a 5.0 so i could upgrade some of my games.  Initially when iPad2 wanted to upgrade to 5.0 I said no because people said it was causing a lot of problems.  Now I cannot play certain games because I don't have iOS 5.0.  I went to iTunes because I cannot locate any upgrades on my iPad 2 and the upgrade was to iOS 7.0 which I did.  Now when I go to my iPad 2, it says HELLO and wants me to follow all these steps.  When I try to restore my back up, iTunes cannot locate my iPad 2 or other items I purchased.  What can I do, I should have just left it at iOS 4.3.5 - at least I could use my iPad 2?

    Hey there SNagai,
It sounds like you are not seeing your iPad in iTunes after updating it. I would recommend the following article to help you get that working again:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Here is an overview of the troubleshooting to be done:
    1. Update iTunes
    2. Check the USB cable
    3. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    4. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
    5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
    6. Check for third-party software conflicts
If the issue persists, try uninstalling iTunes and its associated apps with either of these two articles depending on your operating system version:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows XP

  • Upgraded to Vista Service Pack 2 on my Satellite L305-S5955...now there's no sound!

Last night I upgraded to Vista Service Pack 2 and today it says I don't have a soundcard.  Out of all of computers, this is my only Vista, so I'm having trouble fixing this problem.
I tried to upgrade the drivers from the Toshiba website, but it's not a driver issue; there is no card being recognized.
So, I used the "Add New Hardware" wizard to re-add the soundcard.  Doesn't work.
I see lots of people having trouble with this.  And also, when the sound was working, it was really quiet.  I'd have to turn off the dishwasher, heat, laundry machines, etc to hear anything!
Hope someone can help me on this.
    -Gregg

  • Upgrading to Vista with Boot Camp 2.1 and XP SP3

    Hello
I decided to buy Vista to see for myself how it works. It hasn't come in yet, but I want to know if I can upgrade to Vista when I have Boot Camp 2.1, and Windows XP Service Pack 3.

I have upgraded to Vista SP1 from XP SP3 successfully on one of my macs. Once Windows is loaded and up and running then you can upgrade it just like you normally would when running a Windows based PC.
