Upgrading video card for adobe CS6

Hello I have a Mac pro part number FA356LL/A - it is currently using NVIDIA Geforce 7300GT
I am wondering if this can be upgraded to a more current card the system itself is working great till I installed Adobe CS6.
It still works fine but the redraw tends to stall and give weird artifacting at random times
I have 2 screens 24" EIZO main display for color
15 inc NEC for pallets and extra realestate
Any help on this matter woud be great
thank you

I am hoping that the video card is the problem, and I am going to replace this now as It has become completely unusable. I never know when the displays will go into a horizontal line frenzy and the only way out of it is to force the power button. Not cool

  • Budget video Card for  Adobe CS6 suite

    Hi,
just a quick question - how is the real world performance for GTX 650 vs GTX660TI in CS6 ?
    I saw a comparision benchmark here http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Adobe-Premiere-Pro-CS6-GPU-Acceleration-162/
and it shows that there`s not big difference between them while using Premiere Pro
I know about the memory bandwidth and CUDA core count. Offcourse 660TI is much much faster, but I`m gonna use it only for Adobe software. Zero gaming.
is it really worth to buy the much expensive 660ti over 650 ?
I mainly use After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, C4D. 20% of time Premiere.
    thanks in advance
    Rest of system:
    i7 3770k
    32gb RAM

I would go with the GTX 660 Ti over the GTX 650.  It will be faster than the 650.
Especially true if one is to export directly from Premiere as opposed to using the AME queue. You see, the AME CS6 queue has so many performance issues that any differences between disparately-performing CUDA GPUs get greatly diminished. (The original instructions for PPBM6 called for using the AME queue.)

  • Upgrade video card for Late 2005 PowerMac G5

I am looking for an upgrade video card for a Late 2005 PowerMac G5, which has the PCI-Express slots. I need at least 256 MB of VRAM.
Since this computer is a discontinued model, there doesn't seem to be too many options for video cards. I've seen some cards like the NVidia 6600 or 6800, or even ATI's X800, but they appear to be difficult to find.
The one card that is readily available still is the ATI X1900, which looks great, but a little on the pricey side ($349).
I did notice the NVidia 7300 GT, which is more moderately priced ($145), but it only mentions being an upgrade card for the Mac Pro. Will this also work with the PowerMac G5 (Late 2005) model? I would hate to buy this video card and then find out that it won't work.

The only available upgrade card for the Late 2005 G5s is the X1900GT (aka G5 Edition). It's basically on par with the nVidia 7800GT that was available as a BTO option.
You can get the 7800GT and QuadroFX 4500 as replacement parts, but they're exorbitantly priced.
The Mac Pro cards won't work (even though they're also PCI-Express) due to the ROM on the card. It's only setup to work with the Mac Pro's EFI boot system and doesn't have the necessary code to work with the PowerMac's Open Firmware boot system.

  • Upgrade video card for compaq S6000CL

How can I upgrade my video card on my compaq S6000CL?  I have vista installed (upgrade).  I'd like to download the upgraded video card software and not have to replace the whole video card.
    Thanks!

    Hi pilot3579,
So, in looking at the specifications for your computer (Compaq Presario S6000CL Desktop PC support), it appears you might have to get a video card in order to enhance your graphics. Your computer came with integrated graphics, and though there is one video driver available on your computer, it can only be downloaded with the originally installed Windows XP operating system still in place. I know that's not exactly what you wanted to hear, but that is the situation you are looking at.

  • Upgrade Video Card for HP Pavilion a6228x Desktop PC

I'm wanting to upgrade the video card and was wondering if there were any suggestions as to a good card for under $60. I just need something equivalient to  "NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT or ATI Radeon X1950 Pro" or better. I just got Star Wars the Old Republic and my factory istalled graphics card is not powerful enough. I'm a bit confused on what type of graphics card my desktop takes. I did read that it has
PCI Two (One available) PCI Express x16 One (One available) PCI Express x1 One (One available)
Would a PCI Express 2.0 fit in one of these?
One of the cards I am considering is:

Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

    Hi,
You might want to google Stars Wars Old Republic system requirements and see what others are suggesting.  Game performance is also tied to the game quality settings and monitor resolution that you want to use.
I suggested these upgrades for another user wanting some suggestions.

  • Do I Need To Upgrade Video Card for ACD 20" for the PowerPC G4

    Hello,
I am extremely new to the MAC world so forgive my ignorance. I have a 450Mhz Power PC G4 running a 20gb harddrive. I recently bought the ACD 20" and when I tried to "plug and pray" the display came on for the initial "Apple" screen but when it came time to boot into the OS I got a black screen. I am running OS 10 Tiger and I have AGP graphics. From what I can discern I have a "ATY, Rage 128 Pro".
I read from another posting that the G4s that have the analog and digital video cards need to be upgraded. My question: Is there an upgradable solution for my system and if so what is it? Please say yes!!! LOL
    Thanks

  • I need a Video Card for Adobe Premiere Elements, what is recommended?

I wish to buy the Adobe Premiere Elements Video Editing. I shoot on a Cannon GL1 & GL3 mini dvd and need a video card to capture my video footage. What Video Card is recommended for use with the Premieire Elements software? and what is the price? Please advise...

    farney1946
Is the purchased Premiere Elements 12 still in its sealed packaging?
If you have not already, I would suggest that you install Premiere Elements 12 from the purchased installation disc
and evaluate its performance in your computer environment.
    a. Does the program fail to install?
    b. Do you get Display Card errors?
If you are worried about not being able to return 12 once the package is opened, then you can try the following
    a. Download the Premiere Elements 12 tryout files from the following web site and evaluate it as a tryout (full
    featured).
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-12-direct-download-links-premiere.html
Read and carry out carefully the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the web page to avoid Access Denied message.
    b. If the tryout performs well for you, then delete the tryout and install your purchased version with the purchased
serial number included on the packaging.
....other possibilities, but just the above for now.

  • Other video cards for Adobe Connect?

    Hi!
I am new here in this forum.
I just want to know what video cards that I can use for Adobe Connect? I read that I can use Osprey, but do I have other choice?
Also, is Connect limited to SD signals only? What if my source gives out HD? Is there a way for me to use this HD signal?
    Thanks in Advance...

You're talkign about video capture / input devices, right?
You don't want to try to run HD video through your PC into a webcam pod.
The Osprey is recommended because it has a hardware encoder chip - does not kill the CPU on the computer trying to compress the data...
But you can use things like the Dazzle HD USB connected unit.  I've done this.  Make sure you have a dual core computer, 64bit OS, and don't run a lot of other apps - or you'll see frame drops in the camera feed.
Video cameras that have a 'monitor mode' and connect to a PC via FireWife can also work.

Hi I had the same problem. With my older 2.0 G5 so I bought a ATI 9600XT 128MB DDR ram from a place that had them for $100 it was a nice card I just until I bought a new in the Box Apple Nvida GeForce 6800GT DDL 256-MB's DDR3 Ram (way faster then DDR) I looked at the ATI X800XT it is in my eyes not as good as a Apple Nvida GeForce 6800 Ultra or GT. The 6800's have shader 3.0 (Only AGP Mac cards to have it) EBay has new 6800 Ultra & GT's for $350 with Apple warranty. Plus then your not buying 3Ed party. Just know to get my Quad to run duel 30's with out more cards it cost me $1,399. The Apple Nvida 6800's kill my friends ATI 850XT (faster then the X800XT) In FC5, Games & Aperture only true draw back is you lose 1 PCI or PCI X slot I run with the other two full it's fine. So why buy a ATI X800XT when you may want the extra power to run two 30-inch displays? Look before you buy you will see.

    Hi there!
So you got a dual core machine huh?
    Let's narrow down your choices.
The Radeon 2600 and the 3870 are Mac Pro cards. They won't work in the G5.
    Forget the X1300 as well.
The Radeon X1900 is a possible candidate, but it must be the G5 Edition X1900 GT. The one that you linked is for Intel macs (Mac Pro).
In fact, all cards that you linked are not candidates for the G5.
Here are your choices from slower to faster:
    Geforce 6600 256MB
    Geforce 7800GT
    Radeon X1900GT G5 Edition
    Quadro FX 4500
    Geforce 7800 GTX
    Check performance comparisons:

  • Is new Mac mini ok for Adobe CS6

I have an early 2009 24inch iMac (2.66 GHz, 4Gb Ram). I mainly use the core CS6 programmes (InDesign/Illustreator/Acrobat/Photoshop). I sometimes get given psd files that are huge, multi layered - perhaps 300 to 400Mb. I may have to open them up and do minor changes like deleting layers or retouching. My iMac struggles.
So I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade. I had been considering the new 2012 2.9Ghz 27inch Corei5 iMac but the 2012 2.6Ghz Corei7 Mac Mini looks tempting. Whichever I opt for I will put in 16Gb Ram. The question is - will the Mac Mini have enough power for what I want to do and how significant is the fact that its an integrated Graphics Card (HD4000) rather than a discrete card - I assume either would be better than what I have. There are loads of questions on various forums but most people seem concerning with gaming which is not something it will be used for.

Jeffrey, can you clarify how a Photoshop user should evaluate GPU RAM when shopping for a computer with integrated graphics? For example, Apple's tech specs for the Mac mini do not list the amount of VRAM for the Intel HD Graphics 4000 used in the mini, presumably because system RAM is used. Adobe's Tested Video Cards for Photoshop CS6 list doesn't seem to be updated for the new 512MB requirement for 3D, and the list of supported graphics cards doesn't make a distinction between GPUs that have less than or more than 512MB.
In an Apple forum I found a post claiming that if a Mac with Intel HD 4000 graphics has less than 8GB RAM the integrated graphics get 384MB of VRAM, and if the Mac has 8GB RAM or more the integrated graphics get 512MB of VRAM. It was a posting from a user, so do you know if that claim is true, and if there is another RAM breakpoint where the integrated graphics could gain use of 1GB or 2GB of VRAM?
And following up to that, is there any way to use a utility or a Terminal command to manually assign system RAM to Intel integrated graphics?

    Hi,
If you haven't noticed, there are only two choices available from Apple. The nvidia 6600 (slower than yours) and the ATI X800 (similar to yours).
There is a place that flashes Nvidia 7800's from PC to Mac, I installed one the other day and it works perfect in a Quad.
In addition, there was a contract signed last month between XFX and Apple for upgrade video cards for Mac G4's and G5's. It was reported that this merchandise may be available by Summer (nothing definite).

It appears the 15" 2.2 ghz isn't worth spending $400 more for, but you get the 1GB Radeon 6750M that has four times the VRAM than the 15" 2.0Ghz model and about 167% more performance. High settings on all current games with over 50 fps.
If your not into 3D gaming or just light weight, then the 2.0 Ghz (last years performance) will suffice on low-medium settings at about 30 fps.
The 13" is rather poor as it has integrated graphics. 30 fps on only some games.
The high res screen is a excellent choice and the anti-glare is great for viewing just about anywhere.
No messy films to replace at $30-$40 a pop.
A lot of people bring the glossy screens back once they hear about the anti-glare.
    http://www.pcpro.co.uk/blogs/2011/05/23/glossy-vs-matte-screens-why-the-pc-indus trys-out-of-touch/
    Here's my 17"
In my opinion the extra $400 for another 2-3 years of use out of the computer is worth it.
Quad cores are more than enough for most uses for most people for many years, it's just a slow card is going to make the machine feel slow in rendering graphics in the future.

  • Dual Monitor video cards for HP Pro 3400

I am looking to add a 2nd monitor to my HP Pro 3400 MT and want to make sure I get a video card that will not have any compatibility issues.  I'm not doing any gaming so I don't think I need anything super fancy and I would prefer not to have to upgrade the power supply.
    So my questions are:
Is the HP Pro 3400 MT compatible witha PCI Express 3.0 card?  2.1 ?
How much power draw from the video card would require me to upgrade the power supply (my PC is stock, no added peripherals).  Is there a way for me to determine how much is being currently (no pun intended) drawn?
Are there any drawbacks to usnig the built-in video card for 1 monitor and a new, single-ouput card for the other (vs a dual-output card) ?
Anything else I need to consider when deciding on a new video card?
    Thanks.

I have also been thinking of getting a second 23" display. Can someone recommend the best video card for me. I know very little about video cards and have been reading a lot this morning. Thanks,

    Hi Dave;
No. PCIx and PCIe or PCI Express are not the same thing.
PCIx is an extended or slight sped up version of PCI. While PCIe is a switched bus structure instead.
Hence they are not the same. That is what all of the big news is about Apple has made the leap over to PCI Express.
