Upgrading Windows Azure Pack Websites from Update 4 to Update 6 SQL Schema Update Issues
I'm running into this nasty bug with Windows Azure Pack Websites v2 Update 6 when I monitor the Microsoft\Windows\WebSitesUpdate Event Log:
The upgrade action 'UpgradeDatabase' has failed. Error: Microsoft.Web.Hosting.WebHostingException: An error occurred executing script 'C:\Program Files\IIS\Microsoft Web Sites\Scripts\Update\0031.sql'. ---> Microsoft.Web.Hosting.WebHostingException: An error occurred executing script 'C:\Program Files\IIS\Microsoft Web Sites\Scripts\Update\0031.sql'. ---> Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ExecutionFailureException: An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Online index operations can only be performed in Enterprise edition of SQL Server.

It seems like the SQL script used to upgrade from Update 4 to Update 6 used a SQL Server Enterprise edition only feature and it's causing the update to fail on the controller. Is there an ETA from MSFT to resolve this issue?
All posted advice may not be all that accurate. As always, test it in a lab before you try my advice! Best of all, the documentation is your friend.

Azure Pack Websites - Create from template fails
Hi,
I have implemented a full production version of Azure Pack Websites, and creating blank websites works fine, but if i try to create websites from templates it doesnt work. Only error i get is "Provisioning failed" - "Unable to connect to the
remote server"
I thought the issue was because the servers couldn't retrieve the packages from the web Pi feed, so i create an offline feed according to this article (http://blogs.technet.com/b/privatecloud/archive/2013/11/26/off-lining-web-application-gallery-feed-for-windows-azure-pack.aspx)
but i get the exact same error.
I have looked at logs and troubleshooted for 3 days, i really could need some help.I think i can help you but first, are there any firewalls between your WAP components (Even between your browser and the WAP servers, anything)

Release Management Azure Pack (website cloud)
Is it possible to integrate Release Management 2013 with Azure Pack? (as in deploying to for example an on premise website cloud using the controls that Release Management provides?)
Hi Kameel88,
Thanks for your reply.
According the information in this
document, we can download the publish file from Azure Pack web site to deploy TFS web application to Azure Pack, so I think you create the PowerShell script to run that publish file, and invoke/run this PS Script in your release template to complete the
deploy. http://www.visualstudio.com/get-started/deploy-no-agents-vs.
For more information about deploy to Windows Azure Pack, please post in
Azure Pack forum for the better response.
We are trying to better understand customer views on social support experience, so your participation in this interview project would be greatly appreciated if you have time. Thanks for helping make community forums a great place.

Windows Azure Pack setup - 500 Internal Server Error - failed to configure databases and services
Hi,
I am trying to setup the Windows Azure pack to use the site to configure the Service bus 1.1 installation. When I try to configure the Windows Azure Pack I get the following error:
Admin Authentication Site
500 Internal Server Error - Failed to configure databases and services: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I'm not sure where the logs are to see what is causing this error. I have tried running as admin, running as a different user with no luck.
thanks,
Georgi

I use server 2012 R2 (Windows Azure Pack) to deploy 2-tier service ( VMM -> Library -> Create Service Template -> Select two tier application -> Add F5 Load balancer -> Use connector to link NIC to Server Connection
and link Client Connection to VM network ). I was able to set up F5 Load balancer (virtual appliance) on Hyper V. I checked VMM Orchestrator was able to create VIP pool and member correctly on F5 Appliance. I get the following
error. I'm not sure how to resolve, If anyone experience this issue before, please let me know how to fix it. I copied the error log below. Thank you

ThanksHi Ryankorock,
Sorry to revive an old post but is there any update on compatibility? We are running SCVMM 2012 R2 Build 3.2.7768.0 with an F5 BIG-IP
running "11.6.0 Build 0.0.401 Final". We see the exact same error
Error (21426)
Execution of DataCenterManager.LB::AddLBVIP on the configuration provider a1af2238-5665-454a-8560-64fafbfe3385 failed. Detailed exception: Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataCenterManager.LB.LBConnectionFailedException: There is an error in XML document (246,

The plugin creates everything on the F5, pools, nodes, and virtual server. We have tried with and without a health probe with no luck. -
[Forum FAQ]Tips on Upgrading Windows 10 Technical Preview from Build 9841 to 9860
The new Build 9860 for Windows 10 Technical Preview has been released recently. Here, I would like to share some experience on upgrading Windows 10 Technical Preview from Build 9841 to 9860.
Tip 1: How to use Refresh option to upgrade.
Scenario
In order to upgrade to Build 9860, the new preview build should be downloaded firstly:
PC settings-> Upgrade and recovery->
Preview builds, which is as shown below.
If there are multiples PCs which are running Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9841 need to be upgraded, you may just want to use one copy of downloaded preview build to upgrade all of them instead of downloading the new build on each PC.
Solution
If you have upgraded one PC from Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9841 to 9860, the downloaded preview build (install.esd) can be used to upgrade other PCs. Here we can use install.esd to export the install.wim, then this intall.wim can be used as a recovery
image.
Step 1: Understand the basic information about install.esd.
Install.esd file is located at C:\ $WINDOWS.~BT\sources folder at first. When the upgrade is finished, it would be copied to
C:\RecoveryImage folder. Here is the information in setupact.log which contains information about setup actions during installation:
2014-10-28 19:03:38, Info SP Moving file D:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Install.esd to D:\RecoveryImage\Install.esd
What’s more, the command Dism /Get-Wiminfo /Wimfile:<path_to_install.esd> is used to display the information about the file install.esd:
Step 2: Export the file install.wim.
The following command is used to export Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9860 image:
Dism /Export-Image /SourceImageFile:<path_to_install.esd>
/SourceIndex:4 /DestinationImageFile:<path_to_install.wim> /Compress:recovery
Step 3: Copy exported install.wim to other Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9841 computers, and set the recovery image.
For example, the install.wim has been copied to C:\image folder, the following command is used to set the recovery image:
Reagentc /setosimage /path C:\image /index 1 /target C:\Windows.
Step 4: Use Refresh option to upgrade your PC.
Go to
Update and recovery setting under PC settings, choose
Refresh your PC without affecting your files:
Note:
Applications needed to be reinstalled.
System would use the exported install.wim to refresh Windows 10 Technical Preview from Build 9841 to 9860:
Note: If you use install.esd to refresh directly, just need point the index location as 4:
Reagentc /setosimage /path C:\image /index 4 /target C:\Windows. However, install.wim is easier for deployment, such as creating bootable USB, WDS and SCCM deployment.
Tip 2: Workground to upgrade native boot VHD.
Scenario
Many users use the method native boot into VHD to test Windows 10 Technical Preview. However, there is a limitation on native boot when using VHDs:
If you boot from a VHD, you cannot upgrade the Windows version in the VHD to a newer version. This article describes how to upgrade VHD system Windows 10 Technical Preview from Build 9841 to 9860.
Solution
Step 1: Upgrade in Hyper-V.
Use Hyper-v to create a new virtual machine, and use your native boot VHD
as an existing virtual hard disk:
If booting from this virtual disk directly, it would fail to start due to lacking of boot files. You can use Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9841 ISO file to repair the startup issue:
You can boot intosystem successfully in Hyper-v, then the upgrade process would be supported.
Step 2: Create Native Boot to VHD.
When the upgrade is finished, shut down the virtual machine, use the same way to create Native Boot to VHD:
Mount the 9860 native boot VHD file.
Use the following command to create boot entry for VHD system: Bcdboot
v:\windows (v: represents the mounted virtual disk drive letter).

From my observation, if I click download now, it would create a BITS task:
We can use following command to check:
Import-module bitstransfer
Get-bitstransfer –allusers
From the output, we can see the system account created a BITS job for transferring, under the C:\Windows\Software Distribution\download, we can get the temporary downloaded file, which is approximately about 2.5G.
After we restart, and go to C:\Windows\Software Distribution\download, the temporary file is gone.
If I click the download again, the BITS would create a new task, a new temporary file, if we compare the JobIds of the two times downloading, they are totally different.
On the other hand, if we download a windows update, the JobId would be kept, and the temporary files would be kept, too.

Hi,
We are facing the following error while trying to access the given Windows Azure Pack Public tenant API to query the virtual machines list along with network adaper details -
java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines?$expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters&$top=10000&$skip=0
The response is proper when we access the following URL -
https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines
Only on adding the $expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters, url parameter we are getting the above error.
Where can we check for the error logs on the Azure Pack server ? We checked for the logs using Windows Event Viewer but did not find any for the public tenant API.
What should be the cause for such an error and how can we fix this to get the proper data?
Thanks in advance.Yes, we tried this, $top=10&$skip=0 works for the following url
https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines?$top=10&$skip=0
It is only when we add $expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters,
the server returns the mentioned error response -
URL for which the server returns the 500 error -
https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines?$expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters&$top=10&$skip=0
Can
you point to the error logs for Windows Azure Pack and SPF ? -
I am getting error in installation of Windows Azure Pack

Does windows azure service management APIs work for windows azure pack setup as well ?
Does Service Management REST APIs(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/ee460799.aspx) for Azure work with
Windows Azure Pack as well ?Hi,
Windows Azure Pack is basically a proof of concept.
So, it will not have all the features that Windows Azure has in the cloud.
Some services such as Cloud services & storage services are not available.
for some available API support:

Hi Friends,
I'm a .NET Developer and stated computing on Windows Azure.
I'm curious upon Azure API - where I could able to Create - Configure windows azure virtual machines using azure api & .net code.
Now I'm looking towards billing & usage information, after going through couple of blogs & posts its is found that API related to billing and usage can not be done, but some told using enterprise azure portal login - and some are talking about

Connect To Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Online From Windows Azure Hosted Website
Hi
I have hosted a asp.net website on Windows Azure and trying to connect to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Online. But I am getting below error:

Can someone help me on this?
Thanks ChandrabhanuHi
DeviceidManager.cs was causing the problem. I used simple codes and it worked.
string CrmConnection crmConnection = CrmConnection.Parse("Url=" + crmserver + "; Username=" + username + "; Password=" + password + ";");
OrganizationService serviceProxy = new OrganizationService(crmConnection);
Thanks Chandrabhanu -
How to upload image in windows azure mobile service from android?
I am new in android I am using windows azure mobile service and I am Inserting Text data successfully but now I want to Upload Image in windows azure mobile service. I know its is possible by Azure Storage I have seen this chrisrisner post but
its confusing can anyone tell me simple step by step process to save image in windows azure mobile service.
I will be Very Grateful for you. its very urgentHello Nitesh,
Saving an image into Azure Mobile Services doesn't scale very well and it's not recommended. It's recommended to use Azure Blob Storage for blob storage. It's cheaper and can store larger files.
You can definitely use both Azure Mobile Services and Blob Storage together by saving the name of the image in your Mobile Services table and storing the actual file in the Blob storage. This way when you need to retrieve the actual image, you would retrieve
it by it's name from Blob storage.
Here's a MSDN article that explains how to use
Azure Blob Storage.
Let me know if this helps.

Perfomance difference in windows azure shared websites.
Hi,
If i use azure shared websites instead of azure cloud deployment project how can i enable/access cloud service for that?
If i can means is there any difference in performance like loading time, blob storage accessing time, cdn service.
Which one is best? to access windows azure full benefits like cdn, blob storage, cloud service, very less loading time etc...The performance of accessing storage and other Azure services should not differ much between web site and web role, as long as the storage account and the web site/role are in the same data center.
As far as performance is concerned, the main difference is in computation power. By default, web sites are hosted on shared instances. Your web site may share the same VM instance with sites created by other people. Web role, on the other hand,
by default uses dedicated hosting. It gives you a small VM instance, but the whole instance belongs to you. Shared instances may sometimes induce lower network performance, as multiple web sites may want to access network resources at the same time. This may
reduce performance when accessing Azure services. Of course all those can be changed by modifying configuration. You can configure web site to use dedicated hosting (which is more expensive of course).
