Upgrading Wireless Networking Card (P7-1037c)

Hi.  I have Pavillion P7-1037c that i would like to upgrade the wireless network card on.  The board on it has 3 pci-express X1 and a pci-express minicard slots avaiable.  I need a card that is dual band compatible.  I know there is a minicard 2.4GHtz installed.  Has anyone been sucessful at this kind of upgrade?  This would be my first minicard upgrade, so i thought I should ask.  TY

Which OS is installed in your desktop PC?
What are the capabilities of your wireless router? 802.11 A\B\G\N\AC ?  2.4GHz \ 5 GHz or both simultaneously?
My own preference is the current 802.11AC standard.
I use Windows 8.1 \ Windows 7 \ Linux  on this desktop PC. I have a Sitecom 802.11AC router and an ASUS USB-AC56 wireless adapter. The throughput  for video streaaming  I am getting from the setup is around 533 mb/second. There isn't much currently available on the makrket in terms of reliable PCI express x1 wireless cards for Windows 8 or 8.1.

  • Compaq C762nr wireless network card upgrade

I would like to replace the Atheros AR5007 wireless network card in my laptop with a compatible wireless-n card.  Which cards are compatible?  Thanks

The Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN mini PCIE module is compatible. The driver is available at the web support portal for your notebook.
Upon further research it appears that a different antenna setup is required for the Intel wifi Link 3945AGN module. It would require disassembling the display assembly and installing a different antenna setup.
The C700 series notebook is, unless modified only compatible with 802.11 A/B/G wireless adapters.
A simpler method to upgrade would be to use a USB wireless adapter with 802.11N capability. the C700 series notebook does not have ExpressCard nor PCMIA slots available to use for an alternative upgrade method.

  • DV6 wireless network card upgrade ?

I just bought a DV6 LM199UA#ABC and i was wondering if the wireless network card could be upgraded and if so, could I puchase it from HP?

Which card do you have? HP laptops will ony work with very specific wireless cards. There is a "whitelist" in the BIOS which means you must use a card that was offered on the laptop when new or the laptop will refuse to boot. So to see what you can use we need your specific model and the type of card in the laptop already to see if there is anything better available.

  • Disable the wireless network card upon connection.

Has anyone done the following, if so can you provide some insite on how to do it and how well it works....If wireless networking is not being used in the organization, it is possible for CSA to disable
the wireless network card when it is connected to the corporate network. I'm assuming by using the system
state variable with the rule, you can allow laptop users the ability to use wireless when they are
not connected to the corporate network.

I dont' see a system state "ethernet active" do I create this? I'm on CSA version 5.1.0.103. I have a system state called network which has the description of All users who are logged on via a network connection. Is that the same thing you mean? Then how do I create the rule? I get to where I have a NAC rule but I'm not for sure what to choose after that.

I think the best you can do is use the System Information application (Utilities Folder), looking in the wireless section.

  • Alternative to Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN wireless network card?

I'm finding that my Intel 5100 AGN wireless network card is not performing as well as it used to.  I've tried everything... even drivers are fully up to date.  But I keep losing connection to my wireless router, even though connection strength is between 3-4 bars.  I find that I rarely get dropped if I have 5 bars.  But if it weakens to 3, I get periodically dropped no matter what wireless network I am using.
I want to replace this card with something better, but of course compatible with the HP dv5 (my specific model is dv5t-1000).  Any recommendations?

    Hi, Gary:
What I meant by my statement regarding you having the better of the available cards for your notebook is that, yes, I am sure the Intel 5300 is an improvement over the 5100, but the problem is you can't install the 5300 in your notebook.
The Intel 5300 is not supported (only the cards/part numbers listed in the service manual can be installed) and your notebook wouldn't boot until you removed the card.
You can try a different card listed in the manual if you want.
However, you are limited to the:
    Broadcom 4322 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN module
Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g WLAN module (not a wireless N card)
I suppose you can use an external USB adapter but I would get one with an external antenna connected to it, because I would have to believe the 3 antenna wire setup in your notebook has to provide superior reception over a plain USB wireless adapter with an internal antenna as its only antenna.
The antennas go all the way up to the top of your screen.
Did you fiddle around with your network card's advanced settings?  They can be found by clicking on the card in the device manager, clicking on the advanced tab.  make a note of where the settings are now so if something goes buggy, you can change them back.
Here is a guide to the advanced settings you have and the recommended settings for them.

  • Wireless Network Card

When i bought my K8N NEO2 Plat. it came with the wireless network card bundled with it, ever since i have started using it i have had nothing but problems with it, it keeps dropping the connection every 10 mins or so and also does it when using or exiting a program which makes online gaming almost impossible, does anyone know what could be wrong.
BTW i am connecting to a another computer, i also have a laptop that uses another wireless access point and that never drops the connection

    I have the same problem.
What I have realized is that moveing the antenna just a little bit helps a lot on the signal strength. I had my antenna on of my cabinet with LOW to VERY LOW signal. Moved the antenna to the floor, got GOOD to VERY GOOD signal.
However I have to say that the Wireless card that is included with the NEO 2 is a 2nd hand solution. I have tried with other PCI based Wireless cards. No problem with either the driver or the singal strength. So the conclusion must be that if you can afford it, buy a new Wireless card.
Infact both the onbaord audio and the Wireless solution on the NEO 2 is really of rahter poor quality. In my opinion MSI should never have included em in the package.

  • Equium A60-157 Wireless Network Card/PCMCIA HELP!

    Hi, all!
This problem has been frustrating me for at least 2 months.
Ok, I recently purchased a Belkin Wireless G Notebook Card (wifi card).
The first time I installed the wifi card it was working perfectly. I powered
off the laptop (after I had finished working on it). The following day
when I powered on the laptop, you guessed it, the wifi card was not
working. I did not remove the wifi card during the power off/on phase.
When I went into the device manager, a yellow exclamation mark was
above the wifi card. When I examined the wifi cards properties, I found the
    following message:
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
I have tried unistalling and reinstalling the wifi card. I have tried using the latest Belkin drivers for the wifi card. Sometimes it works, but when I power off/on the laptop its a no go.
One way I have gotten the card to work was by removing and inserting the card several times
until it found resources and finally worked. I dont use this method anymore as, quite obviously, I risk causing damage to the cardbus slot and the card. In the meantime Ive been using a Belkin Wireless G USB network adaptor. I have not had any problems with the USB adaptor, but I would prefer to use the wifi card. This is because the majority of the wifi card is housed inside the laptop, so its not easily dislodged. The USB adaptor is fine for wireless networking indoors, but too much of a risk for roaming outdoors.
I have had this problem from bios revision 1.70 to 1.8C, and I still have it with revision 1.90. Im planning to take the wifi card back to the shop for an exchange, but I have a very bad feeling that the same thing is going to happen with the replacement card. Im not convinced that the current wifi card is defective, because it works perfectly when it gets resources.
I have tried to manually configure the resources on the devices, but I run into one major problem. Windows seems to be LOCKED into automatic settings. The automatic settings checkbox is completely greyed out, making it impossible for me to clear the check box. I have not seen anything in the bios that can help me resolve this problem.
I have noticed that there are a lot of devices running off IRQ (Interrupt Request) 19, when viewing the resources by type in the device manager. These devices are:
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller x 2 (two entries)
Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
    Texas Instrumetns PCI-1410 CardBus Controller
When the wifi card is working it also runs off IRQ 19, but as I stated before Windows is locked into automatic settings and will not let me configure the hardware resources manually.
The Equium A60-157 does not come with onboard, but it has the potential to. Wifi l.e.d. on front panel, location for physical wifi switch on side panel and wifi icon on F8. Does anyone know if Toshiba offer an upgrade service, or can I install onboard wifi myself?
ANYONE, PLEASE HELP ME WITH THESE ISSUES!!!
    Thanks for you time!

    Hi
    I found this for you:
Two devices have been assigned the same input/output (I/O) ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct Memory Access channel (either by the BIOS, the operating system, or a combination of the two). This error message can also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources to the device (for example, if a universal serial bus (USB) controller does not get an interrupt from the BIOS because of a corrupt Multiprocessor System (MPS) table).
You can use Device Manager to determine where the conflict is and disable the conflicting device. On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooting wizard.
Try to disable the conflict devices. It will be interesting to know if the problem will occur again.
In my opinion you should contact Service partner and ask them if the unit is prepared for Wi-Fi module. Sorry but I am not sure about that and I dont want to give you a wrong information about that.

  • Upgrading Wireless Network

Hello, I would like to receive some help in a project of upgrading a cisco wireless network.
    It's a network with 20 AP's 1230 802.11b/g and 5 AP's 1140 802.11n with 1 Cisco WLC 5508 7.0.x  and 1 WCS for guest access, monitring and reporting
The project is for replacing the 20 AP's to 802.11ac, upgrading WLC and WCS software and adding redundancy (backup controller) to the solution because  at this moment the controller is a single point of failure.
Any help with what do i need?
    Thanks

I would start this project with reviewing the usage of the wireless network. So you are going to use 802.11ac, great, but with what requirements in mind?  There is a change that those have changed since the current network was deployed. You can do a 1:1 replacement, but I recommend doing a survey with the 2700 access-point and the current (or future) requirements in mind.
If it is just a pricing thing, I would count on 20x 2700 access-points, one AIR-CT5508-25-K9 controller*, a extension of the current smartnetcontract, an upgrade of the WLC software, the configuration changes and a new implementation of Prime infrastructure with enough lifecycle licenses.
*: Instead of buying a new physical WLC with 25 licenses you can also buy a HA WLC. An other option is migrate to a vWLC and buy new AP licenses, but you don't have all the features you have right now so that depends on your current deployment.

  • Upgrading Wireless Network to 802.11n

Hi Mac gurus and users alike,
I'm very very interested in upgrading my current wireless network. I'm currently using 2 older saucer APBSs to cover my apartment. I've got 4 CPUs on the network and 3 of which I know don't have 802.11n compatibility. However I'm assuming that the speeds in which they communicate with each other would improve. I've also got a PS3 that's using the APBS as well and would love for that to get the most out of a new APBS. My wife's Macbook I believe supports 802.11n and I'm planning on getting a new CPU in a matter of months so I'd like to do this then.
My question is basically, if I upgrade to the newer APBS do I need the others? Is WDS unnecessary at that point?
    Thanks in advance.

Without 802.11n hardware in your computers, you may see some improvement but not a great improvement.

  • Belkin wireless network card F5D7011

    Hi!
I've order a PCMCIA wireless card from apple store for my G4 titanium.
When I plug it in, the card seems to be reconized by the system (I can see it on the right side of my menu bar) but it does not appears in the network configuartion list (only modem or built-in ethernet are in this menu).
What should I do to have it working?
Do I need to install any specific driver?
Do I need to install any Airport software?
I'm still running with Mac OS 10.3.8. Do I have to update to Tiger???
Many thanks in advance for your help.

I can effectively see "broadcom" on the menu.
    I said I was running with 10.3.8 but I made a mistake it's 10.2.8 !
I download the 3.1 Airport from the apple site but I can't start it. No network card is found.
I tried to install 10.4.2 (from my sister new G5!) but some message said I can't install this software on my computer (no other explaination). What should I do?
    Any other advice???

  • Sleep and Wireless network card

After waking from sleep the MacBook Pro is unable to connect to the internet. Network card is unable to get a signal and results in 169 address. Its ironic that to remidy this requires a reboot. So basicly sleep is not an option.
The router is a linksys wireless N. OS is Leopard. Other wireless devices do not suffer this problem.
Does anyone else experience this or is it something to do with the network card?

  • "White Listed" Wireless Network Cards

I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether or not I could install a "Lenovo Branded" Intel Ultimate N Half-Mini Network Card in my ThinkPad Edge E530. I have upgraded to a SSD as well as 16 GB Ram, and would like to utilize these improvements over and above what my current Intel 2230 b/g/n can deliver. Since it is on the "White List", is there any way to adapt my machine to utilize its' potential? I have downloaded whatever "Access Connections" Lenovo offers, and installed all the pre-requisite software. Am I still limited to the two paltry offerings Lenovo has delineated for the E530......should this be the case, I'll never purchase another Lenovo machine.......
I would really appreciate if someone more knowledgable than I could enlighten me regarding this frustrating restriction.....The "Access Connections" implied that downloading and installing the designated software would enable the use of any or all of the "supported devices".
Thanks to anyone and everyone in advance for shedding some light on this issue........fruhlpmd......
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The white list is a per-machine-type thing.  It's part of the BIOS.
Probably the best reference is the parts manifest for your machine:  http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/E530_FRU_BOM_V2.pdf
    From that PDF:
    60Y3195  FRU 6250 WiMax
    60Y3247  FRU FXC 11WLAN
    60Y3249  FRU LTN 11WLAN
    60Y3257  FRU Gobi3 WWAN
    60Y3297  FRU H5321w
Unless the BIOS has been updated since that list, those are your options.  Make sure any card you choose actually has the Lenovo FRU.
[edit] Hmm, I don't see the 2230 on that list.  There must be more to this story.
