Upgrde to 9.0 Problem

Hi there,
I can't seem to find other messages that address this specfic problem. I tried upgrading to 9.0. Now when opening iTunes, I get the following:
"Warning! the registry setting used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but keep coming up with the same issue. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

if your DVD drives no longer show up, it's a known windows issues with itunes and nero. the way to fix it is to edit the registry
WARNING- registry editing if done improperly can leave your system unbootable. so create a restore point before you do anything, and back up the specific key just in case.
you need to open your registry editor and look for this key (to open the editor open the run dialog (window key +r) and type in regedit
[HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE1 0318}]
delete the following entries inside the key
"LowerFilters"
"UpperFilters"
reboot the system and your drives will show up again.
this is only if your DVD drive don't show up in explorer but are in the device manager with exclamation marks over them.

Longrunning query on multiprovider

Hi All,
In our Production system, there is one multiprovider for which the queries are taking too much time to complete and at the end they result result in "TIME_OUT" dumps.
This multiprovider contains receipt level data and hence data volume is quite huge however customers were able to execute queries on this multiprovider before.
We have just recently performed EHP upgrade on our production environment. Is there anything which is impacting performance due to this EHP upgrde?
Note that problem is ONLY coming for only one multiprovider and not for others (these other MPs are not containing tht huge data).
Customers are using restriction on calendar month. There isn't any way to further restrict the query/rather it's not meaningful to further restrict it
Can SAP Note 0000911939(Optimization hint for logical MultiProvider partitioning) be consider to resolve this?
Please let me know your opinions for resolving this issue.

Hi,
We were not using any idexing earlier but at that time as well queries were working fine.
Aggregates are on the infoproviders but they are not being used for these queries. They just do not contain the data that query needs.

Problem upgrding from SP1 to R2

Hi
I am trying to upgrade a ConfigMgr standalone primary site running SP1 CU5 to R2. I have done numerours upgrades in the past but have never seen the errors I am getting before.
The environment is a bit special because it consist of four sperate domains in four seperate forests. No trusts exists between the domains.
The ConfigMgr site server is installed in domain A/forest A and is a single server installation running al the roles MP, DP, SUP, SMP, AI and SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2.
In each of the other domains (B, C and D) a Site Systems server is installed running a DP, MP and SMP. I know it doesn´t make sence to have a MP in each location but I didn´t do the installation of the site.
Each of the site systems is configured with a Site System Installation account
and the checkbox Require the site server to initiate connections to this site system
is selected. The managment points is also configured with an account that has the correct permissions on the SQL server.
When I run the Prerequisite checker I get the following errors:
Administrative share (site system)
Check Server service is running
unsupported management point operation system version
Domain membership
Microsoft XML Core Service 6.0 (MSXML60)
IIS service running
BITS installed
BITS enabled
The above errors are repeated for all 3 remote site systems.
I have created a small demo setup with four seperate domains/forests with no trusts and in this setup I have no problem running the R2 upgrade and the prerequisite checker doesn´t give me any errrors.
I also persuaded the person responcible for the firewall to allow all traffic in/out between the 4 servers in question with the same result. The account I am using to run the upgrade in a local admin on the site server, SQL sysadmin and a Fúll ConfigMgr
admin. This account obviously haven´t got any permissions on the site server systems.
Has anyone seen this before or have an idea of what might becausing it?

I changed the FQDN of the server to Server02.
It tries to connect to the site servers and cannot and hence all the errors. It is connecting using the account I am running the R2 upgrade under and that obviously haven´t got any permissions on the Site System.
This setup should be supported and it works fine in my test setup where the account running the R2 setup doesn´t have any permissions on the site systems either.

6.0.4 upgrd on XP: "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close"

I'm sure this has been posted out here a bizillion times already, and I have followed the advice of many of responses to many of the similar posts I have seen in this forum, and still cannot get iTunes to launch. Here is the situation so far:
- Upgrading a working iTunes installation to 6.0.4 on an XP box (w/ Service Pack 2)
- At first, iTunes was working, up until the point I hooked up my iPod. This was the first time I encountered the error in the subject.
- Disconnected iPod and rebooted PC. Same error occured when launching iTunes.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. Same problem.
- Per the thread at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1987892&#1987892, I reinstalled Quicktime by itself. Same problem.
- Per the same thread, Downloaded the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. iTunes didn't appear, so I believe it had been successfully removed earlier. Used the Cleanup util to remove Quicktime.
- Reinstalled Quicktime. Reinstalled iTunes (by the way, I don't see a standalone install of iTunes without Quicktime--I can only find Quicktime without iTunes--is there such a thing?) Same problem.
I would appreciate any additional recommendations on how to rectify this. I'm sure there's a solution, as I have been using the older version of iTunes for approximately 2 years now, but I'm at a loss as to what else to try.

OK Issue only started when you connected an iPod, before that everything was working.
Is this iPod running normally? Can you connect it to other computers with iTUnes?
What may of happened is some odd "Computer hiccup" when you connected the iPOd and it damaged/Moved some system file. With iTUnes and quicktime uninstalled you can run a chkdsk on the system.
To run this and have it auto fix errors, damaged files ect ect you will goto "My COmputer" rightclick the harddrive, hit properties>tools tab. Under error checking hit check now. In the following window check "Auto fix system files" hit OK, Another window pops up (Forget what it says exactly, just know its long) just hit yes on that and restart the system. it will scan and fix and when done windows will load back up.
Now with antivirus and all that off, reinstall iTUnes

R/3 Patch Upgrde Problem due BW Delta Queue.

I have extracted all the logistic & delta data in BW to make delta queue emplty. My query is that ,should it delete these queue in RSA7 or it should disappear after extraction.
In LBWQ there are only two entry MCEX17 & MCEX17_1 , these queue are still there after extraction.what to do these queue ?
These queues are giving error while upgrading patch.

There is no need to delete the queues for the upgrade, you only need to make sure that there is no data in these queues in rsa7 that need to be extracted, if you run the relevant infopackage twice on the BW side then it should clear the data from RSA7 , before doing this please make sure that all data has been updated from lbwq to rsa7 (if using queued delta) and that there is no data in sm13 for the queues. In RSA7 you can double click on the Individual queues and if you check under delta and delta repeat option for these logistics queues you should find 0 records.

Character set conversion problem during upgrde.

I am trying upgrade one of my windows database with version 9.2.0.5 to 10.2.0.4 on unix. I am following exp/imp. During import I am seeing followinig errors for couple of tables,
IMP-00019: row rejected due to ORACLE error 12899
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 12899 encountered
ORA-12899: value too large for column
IMP-00058: ORACLE error 1461 encountered
ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
This may be due to character set issue, since database on windows has WE8MSWIN1252 and on unix it has UTF8.
Please let me know how I can resolve this issue.

Hello,
It's better that your Target Database is created with the same character set than the source one.
This is an option you can choose at the database creation.
If you have to stay in UTF8 on your Target database then, you'll have to extend the column size or, use the
option CHAR (as Unicode may use up to *4 bytes* for one character instead of *1 byte* for WE8MSWIN1252).
To use the option CHAR you may specify it on the column datatype, for instance:
col1 VARCHAR2 (100 CHAR)Else, without this option, VARCHAR2 (100) means 100 Bytes (which can store 25 characters in Unicode).
You also have the parameter NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS that you can set to CHAR, but the export/import
utility doesn't manage it well.
So, the safest way is to create your target database with the same character set than the source one
except if you want to migrate to Unicode.

Thank you for heading me in the right direction. I reset my Mail account for Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net:(customer ID)@att.net (instead of smtp.att.yahoo.com, per Apple's online troubleshooting information). I'm not sure what "(Offline)" means when it appears at the end of my Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)?? In the Advanced box I clicked on "Use custom port: 465" and checked "Use Secure Sockets Layer." Authentication: Password; I have correct User Name and Password put in. After doing all this, when I try to send emails again today, they go directly to the Outbox and sit there.
What's curious is that my first sent email this morning did go out using the Outgoing Mail Server, smtp.att.yahoo.com: (customer ID)@att.net(Offline) but subsequent emails I tried to send with this server were rejected with the message: "Cannot send message using the server smtp.att.yahoo.com (etc.). The SMTP server doesn't support TLS(SSL) on port 587. Verify your account settings and try again." That's when I tried resetting my Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net (etc.), as mentioned above, and was unsuccessful in sending out any further emails. I guess my next step is to contact my email service provider, AT&T, and see if they can help me. Thanks, again, for taking the time to respond and for giving me your input! Much appreciated!

ADVC-100 problems

I'm off from work for a few weeks. I've been wanting to transfer old vhs tapes to DVD for a long time. Maybe about 3 years or so, I purchased the ADVC-100 to convert analog to digital. Worked like a charm. I also purchased an VHS to DVD direct copy machine. That worked also.
Time passes and I've since upgrded to a the latest macbook pro. I decided to use it with FCE and do the good dead.
#1 - the CD player on the VHS/DVD is kaput. Major not happy, hardly used it and it just isn't doing anything. But that's ok, I don't mind the route of digitizing video to my 16TB NAS for manipulation and such with FCE
#2- My FCE won't recognize the ADVC-100. So frustrating
I verified under system stuff that the firewire is seeing the FW connection, which it is. I can directly plug the VHS into another tuner and play on the TV. So that takes some frustration away since we can at least watch them. But I would like to start a long process of digitizing them, clipping together themes, cute moments, all that stuff.
For whatever reason, I cannot get my G5 or Macbook pro to play/work with the ADVC-100. I can go to preferences/sounds and see that there are internal sounds being registered. Can't get them to play in anyway through either computer, but they are registered at the input. Sound works great on a TV
I've gone to the easy set up and drived DV=NTSC firewire basic, DV-NTSC DV converter, and the DV-NTSC. No luck. Some will actually show the buttons ont he capture screen but there are nothing but colored lines (stationary) When the buttons appear, a message appears below them that says "VTR OK". I've tried to capture clips anyway, but nothing occurs.
I recall having some of these problems in the past. I kept trying and trying and somehwre it would just magically work. No such luck anymore.
My switch settings on the ADVC-100 are all set to off position. I have tried various different switch positions as I read many different articles all over the internet.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? For whatever reason, both the new and old mac can detect it is there, can show the internal "in" sound channel registring the sound, but can't play the sound and I cannot get video to show in any configuration.

Thank you for your input and questions.
I changed VCR's just to make sure that wasn't a factor as the original one was acting a bit strange. This second VCR is a basic play only VCR. Tape in, verify it is running on the TV fine. Then move it over to the computer area. Use the red/white/yellow (composite or RCA jack?) connectors out from the VCR. Only contains out, no input on the VCR
Then connect the color coding to the input of the ADVC-100 on the front panel marked input.
The back panel has the outputs. I used the red/white only and have them plugged into a stereo adapter so that they can be plugged into the back of the powermac G5 audio input.
I am using a firewire 400 connecting from the back of the ADVC-100 to the back of the G5
Dip switches on the bottom of the ADVC-100 are set to NTSC, 7.5 IRE, Audio "locked", Audio 48khz 16bits, power on input mode "analog", and input selector mode: manual.
NOTE: I have carefully turned off the ADVC-100 and tried every possible combination of switch settings. I followed the instructions initially, which are quite simple, but when that didn't work, I decided "what the heck, try 'em all," so I did. No change.
I've tried quicktime, iMovie, and FCE. They all display a similar pattern.
iMovie: will show the pop-up screen for importing and shows it is seeing the advc-100 in the bottom left corner of the screen. Screen remains blue despite what I do.
FCE: set to DV-NTSC under easy settings, shut down program restarted and made a new project (did this multiple times). Under capture, screen pops up as usual. In the center bottom, shows "VTR OK" It shows colored bars. Decided on occasions to go ahead and put "now" and it indicates "waiting for timecode. Device must be in VTR mode when Device Control is enabled (press 'esc' to abort)
Quicktime pops open a window that remains blue and indicates it is ready to record. Nothing happens though.
I used to use this set up, maybe 5 years ago to transfer VHS or HI-8 mm tapes to the computer. I don't recall it being such a pain. This is the same computer, same ADVC-100 and so forth.

Adobe flash player and mountain lion problems

I've just upgrded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and now find that I'm getting messages (TVcatchup) asking for Adobe Flash player although I appear to have successfully installed version 11.3. In other sites I'm asked to install Java although I understood Mountain Lion to contain a Javea equivalent. Any clues out there please?

Sorry guys. I discovered that Safari / Preferences / Security tab I had the 'enable plug - ins' unchecked. I checked it and it solved the problem.

This issue occurs because the Controller has an LDPE image installed, which is only needed in Russia where Data DTLS Payload Encryption is regulated by the Government. Cisco only recommends using this image if you reside in Russia. To resolve this issue and put the standard image on

I was ready to update my iPhoto, but I've seen so many reports of problems. Is anyone happy with it?

I don't want to lose my photos and I don't want a huge download problem. I was about to purchase iphoto '11, but hesitated when I saw so many issues here. But, it appears that my icloud photostream won't work without the upgrade. Did anyone have a trouble free transition, or is it one problem after another?

Remember the entire point of this forum is to help people who have problems. The millons of people who have none simply don't write here.
And, there are as many posts here from folks with issues with iPhoot 6, iPhoto 08, iPhoto 09 etc.
To use an old line, judging the software based on what you read here is like going to your local hospital late Saturday night and assessing the helth out your entire community
FWIW I had no issues upgrding.

Problem:
I want to migrate slowly the 802.11A and bought two -xx21AG-A-K9. And now already Im in trouble.
The problem appears only with the two AIR-xx21AG-A-K9. I use these cards only for 802.11A
The NICs are working but every 3 sec it needs to be authenticated. All timers are off, no encryption, no MAC, no LEAP etc. nothing. Only SID.

I dont understand why these two cards do not work as the others does. The 5 PCI352 and the 2 repeaters have LEAP, TKIP, WPA without any problem. If I activate LEAP, WPA2, AES on the 802.11A the authentication process is even quicker, then we talk about 5/100 of a sec. So I removed everything and started plain. But without luck. I do have a connection, but an awful worse one.
Does anybody have a solution for this or why this is happening ?

I think this could be due to a problem in the hardware itself, may you need to get them changed.

Problem Configuring JMS Error Queue

Domain configuration : one adminServer, One cluster, 2 managedservers in cluster
Two distibuted Queues: InboundQueue, Error Queue
I want to redirect any bad message from InboundQueue to ErrorQueue and discard it.
It worked fine for 4 yrs in Wls 8.1 ( did configured in 8.1)..
now i upgrde to wls 10.1 and i did same configuration but InboundQueue is not redirecting to Errorqueue..
Dont know where i am missing..

Are you still having a problem? If so, I recommend trying to simplify the reproducer by removing the "time-to-deliver", "redelivery-delay", and "time-to-live" settings.

Note that these are all set to a very small value (10 milliseconds), and that the message will expire before it can be delivered or redelivered. The delivery delay is 10 millis, so by the time the delivery delay completes, the time-to-live will have passed -- furthermore, if there was no delivery delay, the redelivery delay is at 10 millis -- so by the time the redel occurs the time-to-live expires).

A problem with threads

I am trying to implement some kind of a server listening for requests. The listener part of the app, is a daemon thread that listens for connections and instantiates a handling daemon thread once it gets some. However, my problem is that i must be able to kill the listening thread at the user's will (say via a sto button). I have done this via the Sun's proposed way, by testing a boolean flag in the loop, which is set to false when i wish to kill the thread. The problem with this thing is the following...
Once the thread starts excecuting, it will test the flag, find it true and enter the loop. At some point it will LOCK on the server socket waiting for connection. Unless some client actually connects, it will keep on listening indefinatelly whithought ever bothering to check for the flag again (no matter how many times you set the damn thing to false).
My question is this: Is there any real, non-theoretical, applied way to stop thread in java safely?
