Upload Artwork to Gracenote?

I have musician friends who've published several professional CDs, but Gracenote doesn't have them listed yet. I'm adding track names in myself, but I can't see how to add artwork for the album covers so that others will receive it along with the tracks. No response from Gracenote itself.
Anybody know if I can upload cover art from the CD to Gracenote for the general public to receive?
Thanks.

Jeff--
Sorry, I realize Gracenote does not hold cover art,
but iTunes does. I assume Apple monitors this group???
Actually, these are user-to-user forums, and Apple doesn't monitor them from the standpoint of answering questions or getting feedback.
As for the artwork, the artwork is stored in the music file itself. That's why iTunes can't change the artwork on certain files, there's no mechanism for saving it in the file itself.
If you buy a track from the iTunes Music Store, the artwork is already loaded in the file by the record company or whoever sent the song file to the iTunes Music Store.
For songs taken off CD, iTunes currently doesn't have a way to automatically get artwork for tracks. The end user would have to have some kind of plug-in or script for that. Since Gracenote doesn't store the artwork, and it's not part of the CD itself, iTunes has no place to get the artwork.

  • Can't upload artwork

Okay, so after I let iTunes automatically find artwork for me and there were several blanks, I managed to figure out how to manually upload artwork. But for a few tracks, I can't do anything, it's grayed out. Like this
    - and I can't edit it at all. How do I fix this?

It looks as though those files are in a format that cannot have artwork added. Are they in .wav format? If so, you can either convert the files to a compatible format, such as AAC or MP3, or re-import the music to your iTunes Library in a format that can handle artwork.

  • Form handler that will enable contributors to upload artwork?

Hi - I am involved in the creation of a site that requires
contributors to upload artwork to us. I have seen this done on
another site but cannot work out how (if) this can be done using
dreamweaver alone. Does anyone have any experience of this sort of
thing? A point in the right direction would be extremely helpful as

    Hi Emmahatt,
The form action does not look right to me... it took me to a
    "redirect

Another thing... you really needs to protect your form with
    more than
JS. I could submit your form with JS turned off and spam bots
    don't care
about JS protection. A safe way to have your form used as a
    spam relay.

  • Uploading artwork and remaining songs for one year now

I was just charged for my second year of Match. This entire time the iMac has been on Step 3: Uploading artwork and remaining songs. Will this never end? Progress bar fills up, then goes back to blank saying 0 of 6 items uploaded. Another says 2564 songs are now available in iCloud, then that goes away, then comes back. Aside from that, I do have music available on my AppleTV, so it's apparently working to some degree. But what I can't figure is why it doesn't stop loading.

    Hi,
Add iCloud status to song view. This will show the tracks that are "Waiting". You may have a corrupt track. Copy the tracks to desk top and delete from library.
Next, Try holding shift key whilst signing out of match. Close iTunes and relaunch. Turn on match. You will be asked to add this computer, do so. Wait for process to complete.
Now see if tou can readd those tracks.

  • The manually upload artwork won't show

After I have downloaded my music,I tried to upload the artwork from my computer, but it wouldn't apply.I have tried a few times,I even tried to upload the artwork to only one song, the same thing happened. Please help, thank you.

You cannot apply your own artwork to .wav files. If that isn't the issue try Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.

  • Uploading artwork to existing tracks on iPod

I have already uploaded my music from iTunes to my iPod, but have now used a third-party application to add artwork to all the albums in iTunes. How do I upoload this to the iPod - do I need to delete all the music on the iPod and upload it all again with the artwork?

it is funny how pople will just say something just
for the sake of getting those prestige points!!!....
    what are you talking about??
Having sauid that that, the previous poster did not
realized that you are using windows. copying and
pasting album art in windows xp and itunes directly
in the tracks stored in the ipod is hit and miss at
    best.
you DO NOT add artwork to the ipod, you add it to the songs in the Library, not on the ipod itself or the ipod list
it does not matter whether you are using Windows or the Mac OS - the procedure is the same
Believe me. I have tried to do this directly and it
did not work. another piece of advice, create a
playilist that you then sync automatically with your
ipod. This is the easiest way to make sure that your
ipod syncs automatically and the album art copies
    properly in windows.
    open iTunes
select a track in the Library
    go to the Edit menu
    select Show Artwork
a box will appear in the lower left corner of iTunes
paste your artwork in the box
if you purchase music from iTMS, they come with album artwork
if you are ripping your own CDs, some come with it, others do not - for the ones that do not, you can go to Amazon or some other site to copy the album artwork and then paste it as noted above

  • Upload artwork to podcast

How do I upload an image to my podcast?

You need to upload the image, which should be 1400 x 1400 px, to your server, and then add its URL either to the 'itunes:image' tag in the feed, or (as you are presumably not hand-writing the feed) add it into the program or online service you are using in the space they provide for the URL. Then republish the feed: it will take the iTunes Store some days before the image appears.
Note that this concerns the image seen in the Store, not the image seen when subscribing. That's not referenced in the feed, but has to be actually embedded in the episode media file - please see this page:

  • How do you upload artwork so that it displays in apple tv?

I am using iTunes Match. I have a large iTunes music library. iTunes could not find album art for several albums. I scanned the covers and loaded the scanned artwork using "Get Info." This works fine on my computer. The added artwork does not appear on my iPhone even when conected to my local network. It also does not appear on Apple TV. Is there anything I can do to fix the problem?

Check this out, it's everything you need to know.

  • Get Info does not allow me to manually add album artwork

    Hello,
I am trying to manually upload album artwork on iTunes with my Windows PC (Windows 8.1 64 bit).  I followed all of the steps for doing this as outlined here in the Help section.  I did a Google search, found the album artwork in JPEG format on the internet, and then saved it to a folder on my hard drive. I then went back into iTunes, right clicked on the album that is missing its artwork, and clicked the "Get info" button.  When the next screen opens I select the "Artwork" tab, and then I select the "Add Artwork button."  This opens up a browser for my file directory, and then I went to the folder where I  saved the album artwork and double clicked on the particular JPEG I wanted to add for the CD.  The JPEG was immediately loaded onto the screen, and everything looked good to go. However, when I hit the "OK" button to select this uploaded album artwork which is loaded on the screen, for whatever reason iTunes does not save it, and the album artwork icon for the CD remains blank. Let me know where I am going wrong, or if this is a bug that needs to be addressed.
Also, I have a program called Music Collectorz that I am using to catalog all of my CDs as I burn my collection to iTunes.  For those CDs in which the Collectorz program cannot automatically find or identify the appropriate album artwork on its own, I can open up the Collectorz program's own version of "Get Info" and select "Find Cover Art."  By doing this, the Collectorz program automatically does a search on the internet--without me having to leave the Collectorz program--and retrieves several "hits" it located for the missing artworkwhich it displays on another window within the program. I then simply double click with the mouse on the photo of the artwork file I want to upload to associate with the particular CD, and it is automatically uploaded and associated with the CD. Also, the Collectorz program will only allow you to upload artwork that is saved in file formats and sizes that are supported by the program like JPEG files.
It seems to me that Apple should have an easy way like this to manually add album artwork in iTunes. I should not have to do a separate Google search outside of the iTunes program, then save a JPEG to my hard-drive in another folder, and then go back into iTunes to add (or try to add) it to a CD's profile.  This is a waste of time, and involves several unnecessary steps.  This process should all be incorporated through the iTunes program as a one-stop shop method.  I should never have to leave the iTunes program to add any artwork ever.
I look forward to your response on this.
    Thanks,

I assume that there are legal restrictions on the way in which iTunes can get artwork automatically from any source apart from the iTunes Store (which is what the right-click > Get Album Artwork function uses).  For example, even though the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to match CDs and retrieve metadata (artist, album, track titles, etc.) also has artwork functions, iTunes does not make use of these.
For manual addition of artwork, there are three cases where the image you select may not be correctly embedded in your media files:
your media are in a format that doesn't accommodate embedded artwork - typically WAV files.  To embed artwork you'll need to convert to another format - Apple Lossless or AIFF if you want to preserve lossless quality, AAC or MP3 otherwise.
your media files are read only - to fix this, use Windows Explorer to find the folder that contains your files, right-click and select Properties.  On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - if this is checked, or is grey (sometimes blue), click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white.  Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected.  Now try adding the artwork again.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from updating your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12).  See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this, then try adding the artwork again.

  • How do I get iOS devices to refresh it's artwork for my iCloud Library?

I turned on iTunes Match on my Apple TV (2nd gen) & iPad and they started showing me my iCloud Music Library (one that got generated after I purchased iTunes Match on my MacBook Pro). Everything's good till this point. I then made several edits to the metadata tags within iTunes on my MacBook Pro. Also cleaned out some custom artwork I had some embedded pictures in the songs. I replaced them with the ones from the iTunes Store (which was basically deleting the embedded pictures and then doing  a 'Get Album Artwork' command by right clicking on the songs). But the AppleTV & iPad are however still showing the old artwork. And I would like to see these new artwork there as well.
Its been more than 10 hours since I made these changes on my notebook. So I don't think it's a matter of timing. I understand that the 'Get Album Artwork' command might have simply modified the local artwork on my MacBook Pro. And my iCloud music library still has the original uploaded artwork stored on Apple Servers. Is there anything that I can do to refresh the artwork stored within my iCloud account, on Apple Servers? If I could do that, I'm hoping that change would eventually propagate to my iOS devices as well. I tried unplugging the AppleTV and plugging it back in. And tried quitting (complete quit) and restarting the Music app on my iPad. But both of those actions didn't seem to help. I'd also like to note that other stuff like changes to song ratings etc are being propagated correctly to my other iOS devices. It's only the artwork that seems to be stuck.

  • Another iTunes Match Step 3 upload question

iTunes Match keeps failing on Step 3: Uploading artwork and remaining songs.
It completes steps 1 and 2, but then shortly after it starts step 3, my cable modem acts as if it has lost connectivity (lights go dim), Airport Extreme goes blinky yellow, and then both recover. If they can recover before iTunes Match times out, then the process continues; otherwise, the Stop button changes to Start, and I have to start over from step 1. The last attempt was a relatively big one--I got 67 items to upload.
My cable modem/Airport Extreme work flawlessly otherwise; this happens only during Step 3. I removed and reapplied power to both the cable modem and Airport Extreme, and I restarted the computer. What is going on here, and is there any way to keep iTunes Match from timing out (can the timeout interval be changed)?
Why is it necessary to keep repeating steps 1 and 2? The software should know where to resume. I have 4800 items to upload, and this is going to take forever. Not a good impression.

More information. I'm directly connected to cable modem (and have been), so Airport Extreme is not in the picture, other than that it's still running for my iPad and iPhone to connect to the Interwebs.
Whenever Match stops when trying to upload a song, I find the album and delete it. Then I start over. I now have half of my connection matched and a very small part of the rest uploaded. If I keep deleting albums, I guess my problem will be solved because there will be nothing to upload. I don't think this is how Match is supposed to work.
It's been all of a day since I signed up, and I've spent hours trying to resolve this. Is there any documentation beyond the feeble "Troubleshooting iTunes Match" document? It's not crashing, so I don't have any errors to refer to. It just hangs and then stops.

  • Itunes Match upload keeps failing

    Hey there,
I signed up for iTunes Match yesterday and it's matched up most of my library but it's just started running the Step 3 "Uploading Artwork And Remaning Songs" FOR THE THIRD TIME - it gets all the way through the process then I turn around ten minutes later and the **** thing has started the whole process again. Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Rob

    Rob,
I posted on a similar topic, you are lucky if it takes 10 minutes to get to the point where it crashes, due to the size of my library mine takes around 2 hours, and I have had to restart it hundreds of time and been at it for 4 months now I think. Each time an update for itunes is available I hopefully install it, problem not fixed as yet, I live in hope. itunes 11 was in my opinion a downgrade, features removed, can't see where apple are going with this, downhill mostly.
Only solution I have found so far is sheer persistence, just keep on restarting it, until eventually you get all your songs uploaded. There are some songs at the top of the list which dont have an itunes match/cloud status but I will deal with those once uploads have finished.
From what I've read elsewhere the crashing *may* be related to the size of the files (seems iTunes match doesn't like large files). If you have lossless or WAV files, consider converting to AAC 256kb which I think is what iTunes match wants to put into the cloud, so might help. The conspiracy theorists would probably say the bug intentional and in order to get you to purchase apple hardware.
Last time I asked iTunes about a refund a very partronising lady replied and in essence told me that iTunes store policy is "All sales are final", in other words, no refunds. I guess if it happened on the internet then it didn't really happen, not same as the store where you can get no questions asked refund.
Hope you get it sort, good luck

Thanks for the help. I had a look at the options at the bottom of the New Mail Message pane but the only options I have is "Show this action when the workflow runs" and "Show only the selected items." I've been searching for a way to tell Automator to "release" the file(s) but I'm not even sure of the terminology to use.
I am using Automator in Snow Leopard, not sure if that makes a difference in the New Mail Message action. I couldn't find an Automator forum for SL.
Thanks in advance for any additional ideas.
