Upload BOM Hierarchy from R/3

Hi Friends,
I am new to SAP BW and require help regarding a client request of uploading R/3 BOM data into BW. The problem here is of providing multi-level BOM explosion functionality in BEx.
The preferred solution for this may involve calculating the BOM hierarchy for each material on the R/3 side and uploading the custom hierarchy on the BW side. Any suggestions on how to go about this would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at the infoobject: 0CMMT_ITEM -Commitment item. Maybe this is your infoobject.
Datasource for hierarchy : 0CMMT_ITEM_FMCI_HIER
I dont know if there is a "best" way to find objects in Business Content. I did like following:
- Open Business content
- Infoobjects
- Find: Commitment

Issue in uploading Hierarchy from BW to SEM BCS

Hi All,
We are getting the following error while trying to upload the hierarchy from BW to SEM BCS.FYI , Hierarchy is loaded into BW but it still throws an error.
Error is : No hierarchies for InfoObject 0PROFIT_CTR available in BW.
Can somebody help me out ...

I am loading from BW (0PROFIT_CTR) hierarchy to SEM BCS.
I am loading thru "Load from data stream".
Following are the steps :
1.Selected data type "Consolidation unit"
2.Selected characteristic "Profit Center"
3.In the settings tab,
a) I also maintained "source data basis" with the Infoobject cataloag & I used the same.
b) selected "0profit_ctr" infoobject.
c)also selected the check boxes "load master data" & "load hierarchy".
4)In the mapping tab, selected all the necessary fields and mapped correctly.
5)In the selection tab,maintained controlling area = 1000 .
6)after the steps 1to 5, executed the method.
It gives an error "No hierarchy exists in BW for profit center ".
Can you tell me, do we need to do any other steps before executing the method.

Problem in uploading Bom through Bapi

Hi
i am uploading Bom data useing CSAP_MAT_BOM_CREATE bapi.
the header data through bapi is going fine but
i am not able to upload 2 line item...
i think i need to pass OBJECT_ID & IDENTIFIER though CSDEP_DAT ,CSDEP_DESC,CSDEP_SORC Structure.
can any body tell me from where i can get OBJECT_ID & IDENTIFIER ..as there no such fields in my file.

Just a little word about "Bapi" : this FM is not a BAPI (it's a special kind of API, only BAPI* FMs are/can be BAPIs). CSAP_MAT_BOM_CREATE is just an API (SAP says you can use this FM).
Did you read the 100 threads about this FM, here are some of the threads for example:
1) did you read the example in the function module documentation? YOUR QUESTION IS ANSWERED IN THAT DOC
2) why don't you use BAPI_MATERIAL_BOM_GROUP_CREATE?

How to load hierarchy from file into InfoObject with compounding Attr & LN

I have created an InfoObject called YCOSTC0 which has a compounding attribute 0CO_AREA. and Text is Lanugage dependent, hence the key is YCOSTC0, 0CO_AREA and LANGUAGE, now when i load hierarchy from flat file as mentioned below, it creates duplicate blank rows in master data table, becuase the flat file contains only the YCOSTC0 Info Object and this data gets loaded into 0CO_AREA column in master data table which is the first column. how can i load hierarchies from flat file into an InfoObject that has a compounding attribute and Language dependent. please provide me a sample file structure with data.

How to Create Hierarchy From Flat file Structure

Hi Gurus,
There is a scenario for me regarding the Hierarchy.
Required Hierarchy structure - Region>Director>Manager-->Sales id
I have flat file which gives the info like user id , sales id , manager id, director id.
But the transaction data Flat file has structure with sales id, region id, sales amt, sales qty.
Note : Region id is another Master Data.
How i can create hierarchy from the first flat file which doesnot have region info in that but it is available in the transaction data Flat file.
Is there anyway we can create hierarchy based on the first Flat file structure which contains more that 1,00,000 records.
Try to Suggest me in this regard .

                Defining the source system from which to load data
Choose the source system tree File ® Create.
       2.      Defining the InfoSource for which you want to load data
Optional: choose InfoSource Tree ® Root (InfoSources) ® Create Application Components.
Choose InfoSource Tree ® Your Application Component ® Other Functions ® Create InfoSource 3.x ® Direct Update.
Choose an InfoObject from the proposal list, and specify a name and a description.
       3.      Assigning the source system to the InfoSource
Choose InfoSource Tree ® Your Application Component ® Your InfoSource ® Assign Source System. The transfer structure maintenance screen appears.
The system automatically generates DataSources for the three different data types to which you can load data.
○       Attributes
○       Texts
○       Hierarchies (if the InfoObject has access to hierarchies)
The system automatically generates the transfer structure, the transfer rules, and the communication structure (for attributes and texts).
       4.      Maintaining the transfer structure / transfer rules
Select the DataSource for uploading hierarchies.
IDoc transfer method: The system automatically generates a proposal for the DataSource and the transfer structure. This consists of an entry for the InfoObject for which hierarchies are loaded. With this transfer method, the structure is converted to the structure of the PSA during loading, which affects performance.
PSA transfer method: The transfer methods and the communication structure are also generated here.
       5.      Maintaining the hierarchy
Choose Hierarchy Maintenance, and specify a technical name and a description of the hierarchy

Hierarchy upload-InfoPackage-Hierarchy Selection tab

I have to upload hierarchy for Internal Order. I have InforPackage but on the Hierarchy Selection tab there is no hierarchy that I am supposed to upload (it's called A1). Do I have to extract the missing hierarchy from R/3? Can someone please provide the steps that should be taken?
It's very urgent as I have to finish it today (well, the deadline is the end of this weekend).

Is ur infosource is properly assigned to the Hierarchy Data source or not!!!!
If not then u need to check the proper data source(From R3) which needs to be used for ur loading.... based on that..
If the DS is available in R3 then replicate the same and assign to ur Infosource..and maintain the proper TS and TR accordingly with the Idocs transfer method..
once this is done then u can able to see the required hierarchy for ur purpose..
make sure that the Hierarchy is available from ur source system.. then only it will be available in the IP selection tab.

Syntax error while loading hierarchy from an external file

Dear Expert:
I am new to BW and I met a problem today while loading hierarchy from an external file. Actually I am following below article to load the hierarchy:

When I schedule the infopackage, the error message says: "Syntax error in template RSTMPL9C, ROW 76". Actually there is only around 20 lines of records.
Since I am not familiar with hierarchy load, so:
1. while loading from external file, do I need to create one hierarchy in advance through "Maintain Hierarchies" in the infoobject? My understanding is since I can load that hierarchy from file, so I do not need to create one in advance, once the load completed, the hierarchy should automatically generated there. Is my understanding correct?
2. Before loading the hierarchy, do I need to load the master data of external characteristics in the hierarchy first? Here in my example, the sales hierarchy has 2 external characteritics (Country and region) in the hierarchy. Do I need to load some data first?
3. My 'Preview' function in the infopackage is gray so that I can not test the data loading. Why is it gray?
Information like file name, file dir, file type(csv), seperator should be correct there.
Can anybody help me take a look into that? Many thanks for your time in advance!

There are some other SAP Notes that can help you solve the problem. Depending on your Support Package level check which of them is applicable.

Hello,
SAP provides a very powerful tool to upload mass amount of data without any coding required : LSMW.
Furthermore, you can use this tool together with the Migration Workbench (tcode SXDA) to do parallel processing...
So why would you want to record anything, or create a Z program? Even if you need to implement your own rules, you can implement some coding within your mapping project... Many cookbooks about LSMW are available both on SDN and on the sap service market place (with sample files, etc.).

Hi Madhu,
By default, you cant use a transformation to load data into the Hierarchy Master data.
I havent tried it myself, but for you to explore, I'll suggest the below idea.
Write an ABAP program to download the hierarchy table data from 0material into a flat file.
Create flat file datasource to upload hierarchy to the other infoobject.
Put both of them in a process chain and execute one after another.

Update Hierarchy from file flat

We have transferred the hierarchy of infoobjet 0IM_REPOBJ from OLPT, and a new hierarchy is created in SAP BW.
Now we want to add new characteristic (node) to this hierarchy, from upload file flat.
I have followed all steps of documentation from sdn but I can't do it.
After that, I think that from uploading file flat, only is possible created a new hierarchy or update a hierarchy created before for this way.
It's correct or exist any way for update by uploading file flat, of a hierarchy downloaded from OLPT?,

When I try to upload the new characteristic from file flat, the follow error appear:
RSAR 204: Error when you calculate the node level in ahierarchy.
There is two sap notes, but it not apply for our case.
When I create the infopackage of datasource from file, in tab "Hierarchy Selection" I can't select the herarchies available from OLPT, I have to create a new hierarchy. Although I create a new hierarchy with the same technical name of OLPT hierarchy, the system assign a new internal ID.
And I think that, when I execute the infopackage from file flat, try calculate the node level in the new hierarchy created and not of the hierarchy existing in a infoobject.
For this reason I guess that it isn't possible update by file flat of a hierarchy downloaded from OLPT.
Regarding your proposal of download the OLPT hierarchy, update it and upload to BW from file flat (deleting the existing hierarchy). I think that would be the more aproximate option, but we'll have to analyze the process, because the hierarchy will be updated both from OLPT as file flat.
Have I to assume that my guesses are right?.
