Upload control in Visual Composer

Hi guys,
We here are wondering whether an upload control is something that's needed or not. We are considering implementing this for EhP2.
Can you please comment on this? Do you find such control helpful?
Thanks,
Natty

Hi Netanel,
I think an upload would be great. In the last year there were several threads here in the forum asking for an upload function.
How do you think to realize it? Where would the data stored? Does it work like the KM iViews and are the data stored in KM?
BTW another must have in the EhP should a export to excel so that I get the file as excel file on my local machine without using the clipboard.
I think Mickey told us during his visit in our office that you have planned such a feature. I have started with ABAP Webdynpro in the end of last year and there you have the ALV (ABAP List Viewer) component,
which has standard features like export to excel (then you get a excel file as download) filter, sort, displaying and hiding columns and so on. Dafna showed me some slides where an ALV is planned for VC 7.1.1 (btw why is this element called ALV?). Do you think that this ALV could be part of an EhP for VC 7.0?

Marcel

  • Creating TabStrip control using visual composer

    Hi,
I am NW04 version for Visual Composer. I want to create a TabStrip control on which I want to show two table from a RFC. Is there any facility available to create this like NW2004s. I found from some posts that NW04 verson doesn't have capabilities to create listbox. Or is there any patches available and after applying we will get the functionality??? Or can I install VC for NW2004s and it will be compatible with EP 6.0??
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    SA.

Use layers and set the correpsonding property. Tabstrip is one of the options in 2004.

  • Using Text Editor control in Visual Compose

    Hello,
I have added Text Editor control in a input form with certain dimensions, but when I preview the form the text edit field has different height than my layout view.
Do you know what am I doing wrong?
    Marcelo

    Hello marcelo,
When you check the configuration panel (on the upper- right side). There's an option in layout "fit content" this might be on auto, you could change it to actual size.

  • Visual Composer 7.0 roadmap

    Hello experts,
We have NetWeaver EP 7.0 installed with Visual Composer in our C&B and DEV environment. We haven't started developing with it yet.
    My questions to you is:
What is the future of Visual Composer 7.0?
My understanding is that SAP has put a lot of energy integrating Visual Composer into CE 7.1. This new version has significant changes compare to it's predecessor. Visual Composer for CE 7.1 seems to be the way to go if one needs to create applications based on existing data services. In short terms, both versions will coexist. Bbut in long terms...?
Can anyone help me find the Visual Composer roadmap?
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Nathalie

    Hi,
This is a quote from the Visual Composer main page on SDN: (/people/jarrod.williams/blog/2009/09/14/whats-new-in-visual-composer)
    "_Visual Composer 7.0_
In light of the progress made relating to parity between Visual Composer 7.0 and Visual Composer CE, our investment in Visual Composer 7.0 will be limited to maintenance after the release of enhancement package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0. We are confident that with the provisions made for migration to Visual Composer 7.1 enhancement package 1 or Visual Composer 7.2 and the great feature set in Visual Composer for enhancement package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0, our existing customers running Visual Composer 7.0 will enjoy the best of both worlds: the option to upgrade to Visual Composer 7.2 or to stay with the latest release of Visual Composer 7.0."
I'll stress the last part, though VC on CE is a great version, staying with the latest release of Visual Composer 7.0 is also good, depending on your needs of course, for instance - the attractive Flash runtime which is currently exclisive for VC 7.0, the "Flash Components" feature that was entered on SP5 of 7.01 (and in 7.02) , which enables you to consume custom 3rd party flash components or Xcelsius controls inside Visual Composer,, which makes flash black-boxes easier to consume than in CE, .. etc..
still - VC on CE of course has it's own advantages - the ability to consume clustered services, life-cycle management, it's intergration with the other CE components etc..
and so if you'll find that VC 7.0 is not enough, you could always upgrade and migrate to the CE versions (7.1 or 7.2).
bottom line - it's a win win situation.

I was wondering how I could get hold of the gauge control used in the video. It's not one of the Xcelcius ones provided in your PDF.

  • File Upload on Visual Composer

    Dear colleagues,
I need to build the functionality to do a File upload on Visual Composer. The user should be able to select a file from his local PC and upload it into a table or DSO.
I have created a function module that uses the function 'GUI_UPLOAD' to do the upload. If I execute the FM from transaction SE37 it works fine, selects the file and loads the data into the table. However, if I embed that FM into Visual Composer it does not work anymore.
Is it because it uses GUI technology that cannot be called from java environment of VC?
Anybody has a hint on how to solve this? Is there any standard functionality to do it?
    Thanks,

Yes, the GUI_UPLOAD relies on the "SAP Gui connection" which is not possible in a Web environnement like the Visual Composer.
In languages such as Web Dynpro (Java or ABAP) or BSP, you can upload file to the server.
You might have to "mix" technologies to provide upload and still keep using VC.

I think this upload functionality is about to be released with Ehp1

Hi I've copied the following section from the VC 6 installation manual.
It worked from me, maybe it works for you:
4  Preparing the Visual Composer Client
    Machine
Visual Composer Storyboard, operating on the Visual Composer server, is the design
environment in which you create your portal content. It functions as a thin-client application
that can be accessed from the Internet Explorer web browser of any machine with network
access to the Visual Composer server. See the Visual Composer User Guide for instructions
about logging on to Visual Composer Storyboard from a client machine.
In order to log on to and work with Visual Composer Storyboard, be sure that your Visual
Composer client machine meets the following software requirements:
    •  Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1or higher
    •  Microsoft XML Parser 4.0
    •  Adobe SVG Viewer 3.0
    Download MS XML parser 4:

  • Tab Order in Visual Composer Input Form

    Hi,
I am trying to set the tab order on my visual composer input form.  I enter a number in "tab order" but it does not seem to have any effect on the tab sequences.  Tabbing is sequential when I set layout to "horizontal" or "vertical" but not for "absolute".  I would like to use the absolute layout - does anyone know why I cannot control tab order?
    Thanks.
Edited by: Patti Gray on Jul 31, 2009 2:13 AM

    Hi
Normally 'Tab order' works fine for all the fields & it works as per given in SAP Library. But sometimes it doesn't work so there is workaround which i tried & it works fine in my case. IN the form you have created all the fields, just hide all the fields. & then select one by one as per the sequence you want. It works.
You can go to 'Layout Board' & there also you can arrange the sequence.
Have i understood your problem correctly? or you are looking for something else.

    Hello Tommy,
Don't Forget to set the authentication to windows & SQL !
    (page 11 of installation guide)
    3.4 Installing Visual Composer Storyboard
To install Visual Composer Storyboard, you must first check that the SQL server is configured
according to Visual Composer requirements. Following the prerequisite software installation,
you install Visual Composer Storyboard on the Visual Composer server machine.
    Procedures
    To configure the SQL server:
    1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Programs ¨ Microsoft SQL Server ¨
    Enterprise Manager.
    2. Under the Console Root ¨ Microsoft SQL Servers list, locate your machine, right-click
    on it and select Properties.
    3. In the SQL Server Properties dialog box, click the Security tab. Then select SQL Server
and Windows as the Authentication option and System Account as the Startup service
    account option and click OK.
    To activate IIS security features:
    1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Settings ¨ Control Panel ¨ Administrative
    Tools ¨ Internet Services Manager.
    2. From the Internet Information Services tree, expand your machine node and expand
    the Default Web Site tree.
    3. Right-click the VCServer folder and from the context menu, choose Properties.
    4. In the VCServer Properties dialog box, open the Directory Security tab.
It runs well as soon I put the local account to run the services (as said in the installation guide too).
    Hope it helps !
    Kind Regards

    Hi,
Check the "Compose" menu, you have plenty of components, operators, ... one being the HTML control component.
Also, have a look at the documentation here :

  • Default Value in Numeric Input Field in Visual Composer Application

    Hi All,
I have developed a visual composer application which has a numeric input field for Hours.
It is mapped to a backend module.
    We are using portal 7.31
The problem is that the deafult value of this input field is "0", but the rquirement is to display as "0.0"
The functionality has been tested with input values in decimals and works fine. The problem is when the screen first populates, that field should show "0.0" .
    Please advise.
    Thanks

    Hi Soumya Chanda,
I don't know of an agreeable way around it. You could have a textual input, but then it doesn't have the numeric control behavior, plus you need to handle incorrect typing (alphanumeric notes).
    Sorry!

  • Using S_RS_AUTH in Visual Composer ?

    Hi, thanks for your time.
I have problems with the use of the subject to S_RS_AUTH in BI 7.
For example, my object is ZCOUNTRY_CL and used 0COUNTRY with the "CL".
In the "Value Help" from Visual Composer displays all countries, while in BI7 shows only those countries that are within the authority.
The idea that I can think of is to create a ZBAPI to call a Query that I return the country of approval, Using for this RSCRM_BAPI or something similar in BI 7.
I would appreciate if you could indicate some other option to upload in the "Value Help" values of authority, or give me any suggestions to improve my idea.
    greetings

Any idea, we have SP15 in JAVA for VC 7.0 ?

When i run the model and chose one item form the 1st drop down list, the 2nd drop down list work's fine but when i select again the 1st drop down list and change the item for another, the 2nd drop down list try to refresh the data and erase the descripcion of the item but don't erase the value of that item and when you select the 2nd again the value appears like another item to select..
Has any one experienced this problem and can help on this?
    Thanks in advance AllenXP.

  • Problem changing ALL the colours for Visual Composer

    Hi All,
    <b>To set the scene:</b>
    I have SP13 installed.
I have created a Visual Composer model, selected the option "Enabling styling of flex controls in portal themes", and deployed it.
Then gone into the Portal > System Admin > Portal Display > Theme Editor > Selected the correct theme > Visual Composer > Flex Runtime Controls
    Then changed all the colours
    <b>The Problem:</b>
I cannot change <b>ALL</b> the colours. There is this blue box that borders all the form headers which i cannot seem to change. I have provided a link to a screenshot below.
    <a href="http://base.google.com/base/a/2957240/D319638570621304478">Screenshot Link Here!</a>
The field that I would assume fixes this ("Border Color of View Header") seems to have no effect?
Anyone also had this problem or know of a solution?
    Thanks
    Conrad Nicholas

    Hi Conrad,
    This issue is a bug.
It was brought to our attention and was already fixed.
The fix will be available in the next release.
    Thank you for your input,
