Upload data from excel to oracle table

Hi,
if i'm user and using an application and i want to upload data from excel to oracle table on button click . Is it possible by using sql loader.
If yes then please clarify it .
is it possible from client end.

Yes it is possible using SQL*LDR, External tables and ORCL Export Utility. Though I didn't try Export Utility to load the external files.
SQLLdr sysntax:
Create a control file.
It looks like this
Load data
Infile 'source.dat'
Into Table tablename
Fields terminated by ',' optionally enclosed by '"'
{code}
then use sqlldr command from your OS.
{code}
sqlldr userid/password@sid control = filename.ctl, data = source.dat, log = logname.log, bad = badname.log, discard = discardname.discard

Upload data from Excel to Internal table in ECC

Here I am facing a problem for uploading the data from excel sheet to internal table in ECC6.0
Main problem is we don't have any FM ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE.

you can use OLE to acces (not only) excel, but this will only work in dialog processing.

As seen the Function Module 'ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE' does not exists in SRM.
Is there any alternative to upload the data direct from excel to Internal table using any other FM. As seach did't get any relevant FM.

Upload data from Excel to Internal table

Hi,
I am facing a peculiar problem in uploading the data in excel sheet to internal table.
The excel file contains material number and product hierarchy number. The product hierarchy number for some material is downloaded as 5.73101E17 for the value 573100910115782000. Though I expand the sheet the display is the same 5.73101E17. When i upload the sheet using the f'n module "ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE" the value is taken as it is (5.73101E+17) into the internal table which is wrong. I tried to change the data type to type n. Then the value is uploaded as 5731011700000000.
Please propose a solution to this without having to change the format of the column from general to "number without decimals"

Upload data from Excel to internal table without using Screen

My reqirment is to read the excel input data and then upload it to internal table for further proceeing but without using selection input screen. I mean can I mention the fixed file name and the path in the function module iself for the input file.

1.First create one internal table as u have created ur EXCEL file.
e.g: if ur EXCEL file contains 3 fields col1 col2 and col3.

Script to upload data from excel to table.

Hi,
Am having a different scenario.
I need to create a script to load the data from excel into oracle table.
For eg: When user1 has emp1.csv file then the datas should be loaded into emp table. at the same time user 2 has emp2.csv file then the datas should be inserted in the same emp table. Likewise my user's has different .csv files of having same template. I need to upload all those datas into the same table.
How can i achieve it

Hi Prasad,
You can use Sql loader tool (sqlldr) in APPEND mode to load the data from csv file to the target table. The APPEND would not delete the existing data from the table.
Your control file may look like this:
LOAD DATA
INFILE 'emp1.csv'
BADFILE 'bad_emp1.csv'
APPEND
INTO TABLE mailing_list
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ","

I can upload data from excel to access having created stored procedure on access.
I do the upload using my vb code.
How can I upload data from excel to oracle db? could i use the same technique as above? only problem is im not sure if that vb code will work with oracle?

The easiest way to do this is to use a Oracle ODBC connection which can be found on OTN. You do not need a stored proc.
After installing Oracle ODBC on the machine where Excel and Access live, do the following.
Note, you already have steps 1, 2 and 3. I list all the steps for others.
1. Create your MS/Excel workbook
2. Add data to it.
3. Save it as "book1.xls".
4. Open MS/Access
5. Create new blank database, call it db1.
6. Then from the file menu, get external data, import, make sure the file type is xls, select book1.xls.
7. The wizard will walk you through the process of importing you Excel workbook into a new table.
8. Save
9. From the file menu select export table.
10. Select ODBC at the bottom of the "Save as type list".
11. Then (depending how you set up ODBC) select Machine Data Source.
12 . Select your Oracle ODBC connection and press OK.
You now have taken data from Excel to Access and placed it in the Oracle schema that was named when you setup your Oracle ODBC connection.

i have a problem with the function module "ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE". I will call this function module with vba to load data from excel to sap with a Buttonclick. I have copied this function module and set it remotable. But i can´t call it from excel.
Can you give me some tips how can i
upload data from excel with vba by click a button.
The problem seems the function: call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>clipboard_import in the function module, because when i comment this function call the vba-call is true but no results.
How can I call the function module correct with vba?
