Have you not got a backup of your content on, for example, an external drive that you can copy onto your new computer ? If not, then depending on which country that you are in you might be able to re-download iTunes purchases from the store. Otherwise you will need to find a third-party program to copy the music off the iPod - this post from a couple of years mentions some that were around at the time, I don't know whether they still exist and work.

  • Sync music from ipod shuffle on itunes to new iphone

I have over 300 songs that show up on my itunes account that I have purchased over the past many years. When I sync my iphone to my itunes account, only music that I have purchased since purchasing my ipad a couple years ago will download on my iphone.  How do I get my older music about 200 songs to download to my phone?

  • IPod Shuffle (1st Generation) NEW ERROR: recognize and charging problems

    I'm tired. I'm quite tired.
I struggled for a month to resolve the 1418 error (My previous posts had thousand of views, until Apple removed them...).Finally Apple gave us the iPod Shuffle reset utility, which worked fine... My iPod Shuffle resurrected.
But now it's dead again, like many other users:
1)When I attach the iPod Shuffle to any PC, or to the wall charger, or to whatever, it's not recognized. Tried all
    2)It still plays music
Apple, what's going on? I think you are swimming in the dark...
    Sony Vaio FS315H   Windows XP

    Here another one.
1st gen iPod Shuffle, stopped working after update to iTunes 7.0.x, which was basically forced to my system.
Every time I plugged my iPod in, it said: "Do you wanna update? Latest version? Get along? Do not think you can do without this update?".
I eventually agreed to upgrade my software, since it 'would update my iPod to the latest firmware'.
    Well, it did not.
    It killed my iPod Shuffle.
I see you have the same thing here.
So, what's the procedure to get a working one in exchange?
Since this is Apple's fault, I expect there to be a procedure for it?

  • Converting from IPOD Shuffle to New Ipod

I previously had an IPOD Shuffle and received a new Ipod for Xmas. I have 42 songs on my shuffle and would like to convert them to my new Ipod. I have a Gateway Computer with Windows. I would like to give my son my Shuffle as it is not even a year old. We do not have the same taste in music so he wants his old songs.
    1. How do I transfer the songs over
    2. Can two Ipods use the same computer.
How do i do all this without losing my music and getting it on to the new IPOd. How do I accomplish all this?

  • Request for a replacement USB cap for iPod Shuffle 1st Gen. Gifting the iPod my grandma for birthday.

    Hi,
I have an iPod Shuffle 1st Generation 512Mb. I am planning to gift it to my grandma for her birthday but unfortunately, the I have lost the USB cap that covers the built in USB port on it. I have not had any luck finding it, and I was wondering if someone could kindly guide me to get a replacement please?  Contact me @ [email protected] and if it helps, I live in India so even if I need to order it online/or from overseas, that shouldn't be a problem. Please help.

I'm confused... is your shuffle a white plastic thing that looks like a pack of gum, or an aluminum one with a clip.
The reason for the confusion is that you said:
"+I have only had the iPod for a little over 4 months+"
If it's that new, Apple will replace it under warranty...however if it's a 1st Gen shuffle that's just that new to you, then it may be that the switch on the back is full of crud. It can be cleaned by someone adept with simple tools and at at following directions: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPod-Shuffle/Hold-Switch/98/1/

  • HT1481 How do I get rid of my music on my ipod shuffle and re enter new songs?

How do I get rid of old songs on my ipod shuffle and re enter new songs??

This is document lists the four iPod shuffle models and the ways to sync music to the shuffle.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1719
The way you remove songs depends on the model (1st and 2nd gen versus 3rd and 4th gen), and the method being used to add songs.  I don't know your specifics (please provide), I'll go with one possibility...
You have a 4th (current) gen shuffle and you use the manual method to load the shuffle, by dragging songs to the shuffle from your iTunes library in iTunes (or using the Autofill feature). If that is your shuffle model and how you load it...
First, in the latest iTunes, the sidebar can be hidden.  To show it, go up to the menu bar, under View, and select Show Sidebar.
To remove songs, select the shuffle in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  "Drop down" its content list, which is indented below the iPod.  Click on Music there.  Over to the right, you see a list of songs currently on the shuffle.  Select the song you want to remove, and hit the Delete key on keyboard.  Confirm action.  You can do this with one song, a selection of songs, or the entire list (by selecting Select All from the File menu).
If you have a 1st or 2nd gen shuffle, or you use automatic syncing (not manual loading or Autofill), please post back.

  • How do you delete an id on ipod shuffle 1st generation?

I'm selling my iPod shuffle 1st generation and I can't get my name off of my iPod when I connect it to my laptop.

Select it in the iTunes sidebar, click on its name, and type a new name. If you're using iTunes 11, choose to show the sidebar from the View menu.

  • I bought an IPOD shuffle (1st gen.) at a pawn shop and it is still synced to previos owners itunes acct. and I can put songs on it b/c I don't have their log in info. So how do I clear it out so I can sync it with my itunes acct.?

OK..So I bought an older IPOD shuffle (1st generation) at a pawn shop. I never have had an itunes acct. So I set one up and plugged the IPOD into my laptop. Apparently the previous owners itunes acct. is still synced with it and I cant put any songs on it b/c I do not have their itunes acct. info (log-in). So my question is how do I clear their info( un-sync) out of this IPOD so I can then be able to put it on my acct. Its not letting me restore it to factory settings without their info either. HELP!

iPods (except for iPod touch) are not linked to any iTunes "account."  They are associated with your iTunes library. The account in iTunes is your Apple ID, and that is used to buy and download content from the iTunes Store.  It is not required to use an iPod.
The 1st (and 2nd) gen shuffle can only be used with one iTunes library at a time.  When you connect it, iTunes should prompt you to start using it with your iTunes library, and warn that the shuffle's existing content will be erased.  Have iTunes erase the shuffle, and it will be associated with your iTunes library going forward.  You can then add content to your shuffle.
The need for the previous owner's Apple ID and password should only come up if you are trying to transfer existing content from the shuffle to your iTunes library, AND the previous owner had content purchased from the iTunes Store.  Just cancel out of that step, if iTunes asks.

  • HT1339 my ipod shuffle(1st generation) is corrupted (error 1442) it will not restore.             is it possible to correct this or is it beyond repair. It worked the last time I used it on my laptop with Windows Vista. Vista.

My ipod shuffle (1st generation) will not restore. It says it is corrupted(error 1442) Is it possible to correct this problem, or is it beyond repair. It worked last  time I used it on my laptop with Windows Vista. Any help would be much appreciated.

Im actually tilting it up where it cinnects to my iPod, not where it connects to my computer, and i have tried three(yes, 3) different cables, one of which i bought brand new. still nothing, and i've also tried different USB ports on my computer,....nothing. Could this simply be a hardware failure of somekind? maybe a physical problem...i mean, why would i have to tilt the cable in order for my computer to actually read my iPod? im looking at the USB connector on my iPod (maybe it's my imagination, not sure) it possible might be bent, the little metal part in the port.

  • Ipod shuffle 1st gen not recognized by pc

Okay, so I have a ipod shuffle 1st generation that seems to hae no songs in it and it is not recognized by my pc or it does but I can't access it. On itunes after I plug it in my pc it says "iTunes has detected a damaged iPod . You may need to restore this iPod so that it can be used with iTunes. You can also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod" and after restoring it it says "The iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred ( 1442)". Maybe is it because i took it off from the usb port without using the proper way. Is it possible to to make it work again?
It is running version 1.1.5 or ios 1.1.5 cuz idk and I have a windows 8 pc.

  • Help with iPod Shuffle - 1st generation - After restoring

Okay, i needed to restore my iPod shuffle (1st gen), as it was n't letting me put songs on. So when it restored, it started to autofill from the music library randomly, so all my songs were jumbled up. I didn't want this, so I tried to autofill it myself without the 'choose items randomly' box ticked, but it wouldn't synch. So, I restored it again, and tried again. As it was restoring, I noticed in a box that came up, I think were you type in the name of your iPod, there was a box that said something along the lines of 'Autofill from music library automatically when restored', so i unticked it. When it was restored again, and now completely empty, it wouldn't let me autofill manually again. So, just to get songs on my iPod, i have to have them on random, which I do NOT want.
Does anybody know what to do? I've tried that reset utlity thing, but that just comes up with the same thing.
    Any help will be welcome
    Thankyou!!!
iPod Shuffle 1st Generation Windows XP

On the contents page at the bottom, there is a box that reads "Choose Items Randomly". Uncheck it. I just noticed it while trying to sync my own iPod.

  • IPod Shuffle 1st generation

I have 2 iPod Shuffle 1st generations and they are both experiencing the same problem. They will play the music I download and the background music is clear in both ears but the main vocals are very, very quiet. I have tried 2 sets of working earbuds and both have the same problem. Neither have been used in a long time.

This is my second used ipod shuffle 1st generation.
I don't know if I'm stupid, crazy, or terribly
unlucky at this point, but I can't get the thing to
play (No problems with my video ipod ever !)I've
done everything in the manual. I've loaded it
through iTunes and it shows that the podcasts are on
there and the guide at the bottom shows that it's
3/4 full. It's charged. I unplug it from the USB
shove the head phones in, turn it on (the little
battery light shows it's getting juice)I press
play...nothing. I go through all the steps of
restoring ect. ad nauseum....nothing ! I press play
again (maybe it's on pause???....nothing! I turn it
    up...I advance to the next
    track?....nothing...nothing....nothing)
Since the exact thing is happening with this one (the
second one), and I've spent hours troubleshooting
them I don't know what else to do but give up and cry
    into my beer.
    Help !
Is the switch set to the 1st position, eg play-in-order?

  • Can I add a new Ipod Shuffle and start a new playlist under my account if my original Ipod Shuffle is full?

If my original Ipod Shuffle is full, and I want to get a new Ipod Shuffle and start a new playlist, can this be done without compromising the first playlist?

Yes.  I have a 1st gen shuffle, a 2nd gen shuffle, and a "bigger" iPod (plus an iPhone).  They can all connect to iTunes at the same time, and be set up independently.
However, if your old shuffle is "full," you can delete song you no longer want on it and add new songs.  You don't need to get a new shuffle, just to get more space for new songs.
