Upload of songs to new computer

How do I get my ipod library into my new computer?

Searching the internet rocks.
Esentially you need something 3rd party to do it so you can figure out what the file names are on the computer(I3d tags will still be there and work in itunes if you brows the ipod control folder).
just use that search link and you should find some helpful programs.

  • Uploading itune songs to new computer

I just bought a new computer and while updating my itunes it told me I had a number of songs that cannot be updated because they have already been allocated to 5 machines. These are old work machines or home machines that I no longer use. I do not want to lose all these songs. Is there a way to get these uploaded?

I lost my ipod...purchased a new computer and using my husband old erased ipod.  I can login in to my account but my husband music selection appears.  If I go to purshaed history in the IStore I see my purhased history.  How do I deauthorize my husband from my new computer and upload my purchased music.

You shouldn't need to.  You should just authorize your iTunes account on the new computer (unless you are using the same account) and then redownload your content.  See this article for more details on redownloading your older purchased iTunes content.

  • Transferring songs to new computer

Our desktop computer is very sick and I am attempting to set up my son's iPod on our laptop. Two questions: 1-Are you able to do this? 2-If so, how do you do this without losing all of the songs and how do you transfer songs to new computer?
    Thanks for any assistance.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved also it was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation as the iPod preferences are no longer in the location described. Also it won't transfer playlists or videos as far as I know. However if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back

  • Uploading Previously purchased songs to new computer

I'm having trouble tranferring previously purchased songs from my IPOD nano to my new lap top. When I attempt to transfer, about 25 of my 100 previously purchased songs transfer and the remainder do not. Something about not being authorized to transfer to this computer. All 100 songs were purchased off I-Tunes.

I am having similar problems. I have my library (and playlists) on my new computer, the new compte has been authorised and the previously purchased songs play on the computer. However, since then I have connected my ipod for a update and all my previously purchased songs were removed from my ipod. Why has it done this? The songs are still in my new computer and are playable. Can they be put back on my ipod?

  • New Computer, want to upload songs onto new computer

I just bought a new I-MAC and want to get all of my music onto the new computer, but when I hookup my i-pod, it says I can only sync with one computer and I have already done this on another computer(it is a PC that has recently died). I have heard about "rippers" but there has to be an easier way to do this. I am sure I'm not the first one to encounter this, and I have looked for a way to fix this but haven't been able to find one...I am still learning the Mac operating system.
    Thanks for the help

Apple doesn't support the transferring of music from your iPod to your iTunes. Only iTunes to iPod. So to do this you will need to download a third party program that will help copy your music from your iPod back to your computer, or there are a couple manual methods you can check out.

  • Old hard drive damaged; how to upload from iPod to new computer

The hard drive on my old computer was damaged. I had not backed up all of my iTunes library to either a DVD or external drive. My iPod classic has about 6,300 songs. I just purchased a new computer. Is it possible to upload all of the songs on my iPod to the new iTunes library on the new computer? I assume I will get a message telling me that the computer is not authorized. I am not all that tech savvy, so I don't want to hit "sync" and lose all my non-Apple purchased music. Thanks.

Hey there again, here's another answer.
Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Need to upload from IPOD to NEW computer

My computer disk went bad and is unrecoverable.   I have a new PC and am trying to UPLOAD the CDs from my IPOD to my new computer.   I have not been able to find any help on how to do this.   I don't want to have to reload my entire CD library (which took hours and hours)    Surely I am not the first person to have a disk go bad...
On my old computer system I did have a backup disk and do have my Itunes Library on that disk but when I hooked my IPOD up to my new computer ITUNES downloaded onto the main disk instead of recognizing that ITUNES was on the external hard drive that was attached to the computer when I hooked my IPOD up.
My IPOD is a Gen 3 32 Gig It had 4.1 on it and automatically upgraded to 4.3 when I attached it to this computer.   (I had spent time trying to recover the old disk so it has been at least 3 months since my IPOD had synced with the old computer.
I'm not sure what other info would be helpful.
Please Please give advice on how to upload my CDsi

If you iPod is set to automatically update and you plug it into iTunes, a message will pop up telling you that your iPod is linked to another library. It will ask if you want to sync and replace all your music. Make sure you hit NO. If you sync with an empty library, then your iPod will also end up empty, because when it syncs it makes an exact copy of your library.

  • How do I move iTunes and all songs to new computer without loosing ratings?

I recently purchased a new computer and have been trying to migrate everything to it. I downloaded Itunes to my new computer and moved all music on to the new computer. While I have successfully set up iTunes on the new computer (including setting the proper iTunes Music folder location under Edit/Preferences/Advanced/General), I cannot find a way to import ALL (Over 60 gig) of music into iTunes. The best I have been able to figure out is to add each individual folder from an artist to the library (this would be a HUGE amount of time!) and in so doing I would loose ALL the time I have spent rating songs (very important to me for My Top Rated). Is there a way to import all music on a specific drive into iTunes AND keep the preferences from the prior computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Can't open songs on new computer

I'm sure this is a topic that is asked all the time so please bear with me. My old computer bit the dust and I was forced to purchase a new one running windows 7. I was able to salvage the old hard drive by purchasing a hard drive enclosure and installed my documents to the new computer. I downloaded itunes to the new computer and it seemed like everything turned up in itunes including playlist and artwork. I thought everything was fine until I tried to select a song to play...nothing. All I got was the message; "The song "..." could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it" Of coarse, I would like to locate it but I haven't a clue where to begin or look. I would certainly appreciate anyones help. By the way, my ipod is an older one about 5 years old, 20gb and I think it was called a third generation, but I don't know for sure. Thanks in advance for your help

Have you tried dragging it onto your Pages icon?
Is it by any chance passworded?
It helps if you give some details:
eg What version of Pages you are using?
Can you just open Pages on its own?
The file extension and origin of the word doc
What message does the computer pop up when it fails to open?
Otherwise it is all just guesswork.
