Upload raw to PSE8 from a Nikon 5100

I have a Nikon 5100 and shot in RAW. Even after uploading the 6.2 update from Adobe, I am still not able to get my photos to download to PSE8. Is there a different update I need to upload or do I need a newer version of PSE?
Many thanks for any help on this one.

According to thie list on Adobe website, you need minimum Camera Raw plug-in version 6.4.  The list is at this link:
<http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html>
Versdion 6.4 is only available in PSE9 according to this list:
<http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=101&platform=Windows>
So not sure what else can you do apart from updating to the latest version (PSE10)

The way I see it (correct me if I'm wrong) but Raw is supposed to be where you have total editing control of the shot (as opposed to the camera). I believe the next step is to do the editing (i.e. color balance, exposure, etc) then make a regular image from that to use in whatever output you desire (print, web, etc.) Think of raw as the negative. Just being in raw doesn't in it self make it better.
Edit. This is from premiere help files....
Supported still‑image and sequence file formats
Adobe Premiere Pro supports 8-bit per-channel (4 bytes per pixel) and 16-bit per-channel (8 bytes per pixel) still-image files. It converts images with lower bit-depths to 8-bits per channel and images with higher bit-depths to 16-bits per channel on import. High bit-depth files are supported at one single-precision float per channel (16-bytes per pixel).

  • CS3: Cannot open RAW/NEF files from my Nikon

After I reinstalled my harddisk and my CS3, Bridge and PS will not open the RAW files from my Nikon D90.
    Wgat do I do?

Niels, it's actually a nice thing that Adobe provides after-the-release updates, or you'd never have had D90 support with Photoshop CS3.  But you're right, if the automatic features of the software don't work right, you have to work through manual installations and then things can get a bit geeky.  But you're a PC/Windows user - you have to be tough!
To use the Help - About Plug-in feature, in Photoshop click the Help menu, then the About Plug-in entry, then go over and click Camera Raw...
This is the dialog you should see, if your Camera Raw is fully up to date (note the 4.6):

  • I cannot open my raw NEF files from my Nikon d3200.  can anyone help me?

I believe you need PSE11 with the Camera Raw plug-in 7.1 or newer.

  • Using Lightroom 5.7, Raw files become from my Nikon D810 become corrupted when I select them to view or edit.

.Updated to Lightroom 5.7 to accommodate the Nikon D810. Upon importing RAW files to the files become corrupted when they are selected to be viewed or edited.
I am using Windows 7, 64 bit, with 8 GB Ram.
    Any help would be appreciated.

There are several likely sources of corruption, and video card would be far down on my list of possible suspects.
The transfer from camera card to hard disk is the most likely place for problem, either the card reader or USB cable can go bad. Another likely source of problems is the computer's hard disk is starting to fail. The camera card itself may be bad. And lastly, the memory in the computer may be malfunctioning.

  • Lightroom 4 RC2 won't upload raw files direct from Canon 5d mkiii camera

I can upload to DPP and then transfer the files into Lightroom but when I try and upload directly Lightroom just says, "Files not Uploaded not recognised" and I get an option to save or cancel. Why?, with LR3 raw files from my old camera uploaded just fine, whats going on.

You have a new camera, it is not yet supported in ACR or Lightroom. Most likely it will be supported in the LR4.1 proper, but not yet.
I assume your old camera is a 5DII, that is supported as its an older model.
If you want to use LR4.1RCx and your Canon 5DIII, you will need to convert from CR2 to DNG with the Adobe DNG Converter
    link to the download
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html and scroll down a screen or so to find the links for MAC or PC depending on your software.
This will work til Lightroom natively imports Canon 5DIII RAW images

  • Opening Raw (NEF) files from D5300 Nikon

I recently purchased a Nikon D5300 and downloaded the raw converter version 8.3 but the files won't open.  Using Mac 10.9 with PS CS6.

OK. And to open D5300 Raw files you need to install 8.3 after downloading it.
What link did you download 8.3 from?
Have you clicked Help > Updates in Photoshop?

  • Why can Lightrooms not view my NEF(RAW) File taken from my Nikon D5500?

I have a Nikon D5500 and viewing a JPEG is fine. If I change my file format to NEF(RAW) when importing files lightroom cannot view them. It gives me a box to check for updates but I have to most recent version. Ver:5.7.1.
A few weeks ago I used my friends Nikon D5300 and the RAW files were perfectly fine.

It's a new camera model that was released in that "hole" between Lightroom releases. But you can download the DNG converter version 8.8 and convert that NEF files to DNG. I know, it's a Band-Aid fix. But it will work in the meantime while we wait for the next Lightroom update or upgrade.

  • Will ps elements 5 read 32 gig of raw files straight from my Nikon D90

New to Adobe help forum and a bit of a novice

As long as you don't select the PSE 5 option to delete photos after downloading, PSE 5's downloader won't affect the contents of your camera's card.  Some people have reported that the PSE downloader doesn't reliably download raw files (but that won't delete files from your card).
As the other person suggested to you, can you can always connect the camera with a USB cable or insert the card into the computer's card reader, start Windows Explorer, navigate to the drive letter (under Computer) for the camera/card, and then copy the photos/videos you find on the camera to a folder on your computer (and then import to PSE using File > Get Photos And Videos > From Files And Folders).

  • PSE 7 Open Raw Image from Nikon 5100

I have tried to install a bunch of different plug in's however I was only sucessful with http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4582 ... Unfortunately, it is not compatible with Nikon 5100.  Is there another plug in update that I need to install to be able to view and edit my raw images from a Nikon 5100 in PSE 7?
    Thanks.

No, there isn't. You either have to upgrade to the new Photoshop Elements, or else download the latest DNG converter and create digital negative copies of your images. Those can be opened with the Camera Raw that you already have. There will be no more updates for Photoshop Elements 7, and that includes the Camera Raw plug-in that is compatible with it.
Of course, another alternative would be to add Lightroom to your arsenal. It would give you a lot more options for working with your raw images. But that is a decision that you will have to make.

  • Cs5 Bridge won't recognize Nikon raw file (NRW) from Coolpix P340.

I want to upload my RAW (NRW) files from my Nikon Coolpix P340 but Bridge CS5 doesn't recognize these as readable. Is there an update available from either adobe or Nikon that anyone is aware of? Thanks.

    Not possible in CS5

You can use the DNG converter to workaround this problem.

  • Which Updates are required to read RAW files from a Nikon D300

iPhoto 6 on Tiger can't read RAW (nef) files from my Nikon D300. Can I just update to iLife'08 or do I need Leopard as well?

    AndyMm
I'm not sure about iPhoto 08, but you will definitely need 10.5.2 for the D300.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1475
So if you don't want to update to iLife 08, try update to 10.5 first, see if that works for you.

  • I am getting this message as I try to upload raw images from my file folders to my PSE

I am getting this message as I try to upload raw image files from my file/folders into PSE what do I do to get PSE to accept the raw files?
"Nothing was imported. The file(s) or folder(s) selected to import did not contain any supported file types"  What do I do.  Just to let you guys know I am able to upload all JPEG files that are already in my files into PSE but not the raw photos.  Obviously I want to keep them raw in order to have more control over the outcome of the picture.

The  camera I am using is the Canon Rebel T3I, the PSE version is elements 9, and I don't know what version of raw converter I may or may not be using.  Where do I find the version of raw converter?
