Upload Sandvox Site to .Mac

Anybody done this, or can point me to instructions on how to?
We have the site down in Sandvox and exported to a folder.
We just bought .Mac.
Any help or pointers to other info would be appreciated.

Mount your remote iDisk.
Drag the entire folder to your Sites folder and wait for the upload to complete.
Your page(s) are now on the Internet. The URL syntax is:
http://homepage.mac.com/username/foldername/pagename.html

  • Need to upload my site to .Mac, but to use a different e-mail address!!!!

iWeb uses my .Mac address by default. But these pages will not be my personal ones. Is there any way, how to get around it?
BTW: someone suggested earlier the for more info to go to iWeb Help and type "hyperlink", but the help is not working!!!!!!! Blank window!!!!!!!!

    True.
But my Mail's Spam filter is doing a pretty good job lately. I get around 20 junk mails a day and hardly any shows up in my inbox.
the reason why I wanted to use the generic mail icon was that I do not want to play with the alignment of the mail icon on every single page - the icon is placed in the right lower corner and I don't have to do anything. i don't have tons of time to play with that. yes, a nice gif with the address written in it would be a great solution, but automatize it so it goes into same place every time - pain in the neck.

  • Upload site to .Mac made in another app

Is it possible to upload a site made in another application to .Mac without disrupting an established iWeb site? I have a domain name for my club site (made in iweb '08) but have made other sites with another program. I am too frightened of losing the first site to even try!

You can put any webpage on iDisk, either in the Sites (= HomePage) folder or the Web>Sites (= iWeb) folder.
iWeb and HomePage create a index.html file in the root of the server.
You can overwrite the file if you want or leave it.
Best practice is to put your own pages in a folder of their own.
You have to experiment to see how iWeb/HomePage handle their files.
    Here's how I do it: http://web.mac.com/wyodor/

  • I changed my .mac user name, how do I upload a site to the new .mac?

So, I made a temporary .mac account as a trial. I decided to buy a 1 year subscription. I went to upload the webpage I created using the temporary .mac name using the NEW .mac user name and I can't figure how to get iWEb to recognize my new .mac user name.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi
Under System Preferences > .Mac are you signed in as the .mac account that you want to use? I believe that is what iWeb uses to log in and upload the site.
    Cheers

  • Help combining iWeb sites or Uploading to a non .mac server

Using iWeb 2, my lovely bride created a site on her MacBook Pro and uploaded it to our .mac site. It (of course) overwrote our entire family set of sites (three altogether). Luckily, I still have those on my G5. Is there anyway to add her site to my domain file so I can publish them all?
Went to Apple Store in Bellevue, WA and genius and resident iWeb guy have no clue.
I also have other servers I could put her site on but when I publish it to a folder and upload it to that server, it loses all the links. Not the linked files (I assume they are all still there) but the actual links on the home page on hers don't show. You can see this problem at http://www.koobraey.com/alaska/InfinityMates2007/Home.html
If you know this template, you know there should be links above the title. And if you think that looks bad, you should see it on a PC. Yikes.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated.
    Jim

When you publish to a folder in iWeb '08 there are three files that were not present in '06.
These are "feed", "media" and "scripts".
If you are uploading your files one by one, as I tend to do at times, you may have missed the 'feed" file. Have a look on your server to see if its there.

  • How do I upload iWeb-site without using 'Flie Publish' feature?

Due to corporate firewall restrictions I cannot use iDisk, Sync or iWeb to connect to .mac, which presented a problem when I wanted to Publish my iWeb site.
I have uploaded the site [via webdav, with Transmit] to the Sites folder of my iDisk, but I can't find my site when I enter my .mac URL into my browser (http://web.mac.com/myusername or http://homepage.mac.com/myusername).
Theoretically, is this the right way to upload to iDisk without using iWeb? Is there anything else I need to do to link my URL to the files in iDisk/Sites?
    Thanks in advance, Lee.

Ok, my member name is leepaulvickers.
    I've tried
    http://web.mac.com/leepaulvickers
    http://web.mac.com/leepaulvickers/iweb
    http://web.mac.com/leepaulvickers/leepaulvickers
    http://homepage.mac.com/leepaulvickers
but just get the 'we can't find the HomePage you've requested' 404 error.
BTW I've used Transmit to upload to my iDisk in the past, such as files and photos with no problems. I assumed there would be no trouble with iWeb's files...

  • Issues with publishing my iWeb site to .MAC - Progress bar freezes at 100%

Well, as topic says, i'm having troubles publishing my iWeb site to .MAC now since upgrading to '08. The progress bar reaches full circle, but then nothing. Left it uploading to .Mac for well over 2 hours one time while out of the house...nada. Sometimes i get an error message, sometimes not and have to close iWeb while it's still publishing.
    Any feedback regarding this?
    Thanks in advance.

Update: After 36 hours, I have successfully managed to upload my entire website via the "Publish All to .Mac" option. I now have blue indicators on the left side of my iWeb program in place of those pesky red ones. How did I do it? Well, I'm not sure. But on my last attempt I looked at the problem from a different perspective, so I took an alternate approach. I had a feeling that I was experiencing a network timeout issue caused by a 3rd party software, so I created a Whitelist entry on my website filtering software that allows unlimited access to "idisk.mac.com";; and "web.mac.com";; domains. I've got two kids at home, so I'm running the free OpenDNS Dashboard service on my network which provides content filtering (blocks adult site, phishing site, etc..). I started using this service two weeks ago. My last website update was a week before that. I figured I had nothing to loose by trying. To my surprise, it worked. Now, it took almost two hours to publish, of which the pie indicator was in the  "filled" position for a nerve racking hour. To reconfirm,  I then made a minor change to one of the pages on my website and re-published. This time using the "Publish to .Mac" option in place of the ALL option and once again it worked. It took less than 5 minutes. Now, I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, maybe Apple fixed the problem, or maybe my website filtering service was causing some type of time out issue all along??  Don't know.. But at least for now, I'm a happy camper since I have my site up.

  • Uploading iweb site to path within a directory

I need to upload my website to a certain path within a larger directory. My iweb site is not the main site. The main site though uses php and well iweb doesn't. Is it still possible to upload my iweb site to a path in this directory and it function correctly? If so, how would I go about doing this?

Okay, so firstly, you CAN't have an iWeb account - iWeb is an application that is on your Mac and you can use it whatever if it is there - there is no account that is needed.
You will not now be able to get a MobileMe account if you don't already have one, as they are not taking any more subscriptions as it will not be here from June next year, iCloud having replaced it.
You say that you have a "url" or do you mean domain name from GoDaddy?  If you do, then to be able to upload a website you also need to purchase a hosting account from them.
Not having a hosting account would be one very good reason why you would be getting the error messages' cannot connect to server' - this is because you have no server/host to connect to because you don't have a hosting account.
Go to GoDaddy and purcahse a hosting account from them and you will then be able to upload your site.

  • Publish site to .mac using dreamweaver

    Hey guys!
Can anyone give me a detailed description of how to post a site made in Dreamweaver to my .mac?
I understand I need to save the site locally, to my desktop for instance, and then deposit those files to my .mac. But where exactly do they go? And what files need to be there? Once they are there, when I visit my http://web.mac.com/yoursitehere page, will the dreamweaver created site start showing up? With flash included?
My basic idea is to use my GoDaddy registered domain, forward it to my http://web.mac.com/yoursitehere page, and create a sweet site in Dreamweaver using a template from www.templatemonster.com with flash and lots of hooha. Basically using my .mac as my hosting. Anyone done this and have the fool-proof method? I love tutorials...
    Thanks! Yay team!
    Tyler

Dreamweaver will create a site within a folder.
If I were going to try it I would open my idisk and drag the dreamweaver site folder to it.
Not sure how you would, or if you can use ftp to idisk. If there is a way dreamweaver or other ftp program would be able to update changes without uploading the whole site again or manually finding the added or changed files and dragging them in.
If it's not a huge site probably not a big deal. It would be nice to be able to do it directly from Dreamweaver, but again not sure it it's possible.
Perhaps someone will jump in with the answer.
Don't guess you would have to put it where Iweb puts them, but I think I would anyway. idisk/web/sites/.
Address should be the similar to a iweb site. web.mac.com/ushername/sitename/index.html
I think that should work, if addressing is correct.
You could create a page, stick it there and see what happens.
    Forwarding should be no problem.
    good luck
I understand that [http://www.panic.com/transmit> will work with idisk to avoid using the finder.
Idisk uses webdav and does not allow ftp
just looked at transmit. Looks pretty cool. Has a menu option for idisk. Pops it right up and has a sync feature. Looks like with the doctor ordered.

  • Upload web site

I start devoloping a site in my PowerBook using Iweb; the site was published and all worked fine.
But now, that I need to upload the site to my G5 to keep working in it, I am out of luck.
Probably the designers didn't thought that uploading is a must for any web design program, or better yet, there is a way to do that, that I ignore.
If that is the case I'll appreciate any help.
    G5 Dual Mac OS X (10.4.4)

in other words if you are working back and forward
from the laptop to the Desktop you got to repeat the
copy procedure from PowerBook to G5 and vice-versa.
    Cumbersome, don't you think?
That's right, you must always have the latest version of the Domain file on whichever machine you wish to be working. It is a fundamental aspect of how the program works. Here's a trick that some have found makes this easier.

  • Uploading iWeb site to internet.

Error message "cannot connect to server" when I try uploading my iWeb site to the internet (godaddy.com url). I saved the html file to my local hard drive (on the desktop) and tried uploading through FTP on iWeb, FileZilla, and GoDaddy's. Similar error messages on all three. Solutions? Fixes? Better ways to make and get my website up?! Also, not sure if it makes a difference but I don't have an iWeb account or a MobileMe account. I just happen to have the software on my MacBook Pro so I thought it'd be an easy way to make my first website.
    Thank you!

  • Two sites, two Macs?

I know you can't edit the same site on two different Macs without a lot of fuss, but is it possible to have two sites on two different Macs both uploading to the same .Mac account? Or will they delete each other when uploading?

I know you can't edit the same site on two different
Macs without a lot of fuss, but is it possible to
have two sites on two different Macs both uploading
to the same .Mac account? Or will they delete each
    other when uploading?
Yes. They will not delete each other as long as they have different site names. However, the last one uploaded will normally get the short url -- web.mac.com/username. The other one will require web.mac.com/username/iWeb/sitename

  • Multiple sites at .mac??

    Hi there.
I have a few sites, home, kid, hobby etc etc
I also have a few external domain names.
Is it possible to keep my dbp_1999 mac site as well as having some of the others 'hosted' by Mac using the cname route?
Ideally want to use iWeb to maintain the sites and publish seperately to .mac...
I just can't see how to get it to work ;-(

In iWeb, you can maintain more sites. The only downside is that iWeb can only publish everything to one .Mac address. Let's say you have 3 sites you want to maintain, named Personal, Hobby and Family. You can do that with iWeb, but as soon as you publish, your sites will be uploaded to your .mac addres, resulting in the following website URL's:
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/Personal/Welcome.html
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/Hobby/Welcome.html
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/Family/Welcome.html
If you just type in your main URL: (http://web.mac.com/yourname) you will be directed to the site that is mentioned first in the list on the left in iWeb.
A second way to do things is to publish all sites in a folder on your harddisk and to upload every site to a separate non-.Mac domain. You can upload everything in the folder "Personal" to one domain, "Hobby" to another, etc.
If you want to publish to different .Mac addresses, I recommend creating additional user accounts on your Mac, one for every additional .Mac address you want to publish to.

    I'm using DWMX v.6
When I upload my site all I get at my site is Parent

When I preview in browser everything works fine. What am I

    Thanks for your help

Host is moronic, and has given you an answer that means "I
    don't understand
your question". The question you were supposed to ask them
    was "what are
the contents of the default filename list". Please try again.
While we are waiting for the results, what is the name of the
    file that you
are wanting to load as your home page when someone browses to
    your domain?
And please tell us, when you connect to your site in
    Dreamweaver, and look
at the Remote files in the Files panel, what is the name of
    the topmost
folder on the list? And what are the names of the folders
    beneath that?

  • Where we can upload our widget on mac

where we can upload our widget on mac to see it in apple widget downloads?

If you mean a Dashboard widget, Apple has not updated the Dashboard widgets page in months (and they never actually hosted the widget, they just referred to it with a link to the developer's site for download), and I don't think they allow Dashboard widgets in the Mac App Store, so there is probably no way to have Apple host your widget.
